Our mini dachshund was bitten by a poisonous snake last Thursday evening. We searched for a 24 hr vet and found Fur Buds. The entire staff was very professional and caring. Our girl received excellent care and Dr Taft called us a few hours later to give us an update on how our girl was progressing. She called us again in the morning with another update, and gave us the good news that our Zooey would be discharged that afternoon. Of course when your fur baby is sick it happens after hours and weekends. Well my vet happened to have surgery on his arm the week that my Jack Russell Buddy got really sick. I won't go into details but Dr. Marisal was very gentle, kind and diagnosis my 12 year old Buddy with a slipped disc.... Well the next problem was he couldn't urinate....I went back and forth with my vet in LaGrange but buddy got sicker. So I took Buddy back to Dr. Marisal and she took care of him and fixed his problem. It has cost me many of dollars between two gets but Fur Buds let me know the cost ahead of time before proceeding. Her clinic is very reasonable...I seen reviews of high cost and not letting them know...I don't believe those reviews. I give fur buds 5 stars and they are worth our 35 minute drive from LaGrange. I have a Boxer and I've been here four times. Once for emergency surgery and two follow ups, and twice for boarding. The staff was always very helpful and covered everything. I use a primary facility who's also great but the 24Hr service has been a godsend twice, once for emergency and then recently when I had to set up boarding on a Sunday. Because of her, our dog’s eye is completely healed as of today. In that process, our other pup had a spot on his foot he had licked all day while we were at work. After we got our eye trauma home from a check in with her, we saw our other dog limping and immediately took him. So, for the last week both of our dogs have been under her care and she has gone ABOVE AND BEYOND for BOTH dogs and for us. I’m SUPER late with this review. But I was having a panic attack about my dog being sick. My vet was about to close so they sent me here. This office was willing to take me on the spot. My poor Jack Russell was backed over last night. Rushed him here bc it was the only place open. I knew it was likely they could do nothing. They took X-rays and confirmed that it was bad and the most humane thing to do was let him go. I'm giving them 5 stars bc they were honest, and compassionate. Took my dog here back in January because he was throwing up a lot and not eating right. They ran blood work and said it could be many reasons why he is behaving this way. I walked in knowing i would pay a lot for the blood work/exam, but wasn't prepared for the $300 they charged me after telling me NOTHING about what could be wrong with my dog. I asked many times what is wrong with him, and got no answer except for a sensitive stomach. Since then, my dog has been not eating at all and still throwing up, he lost 9 pounds as well but i thought it may had been his "sensitive tummy". Today i took my dog to Mitchell Vet Clinic in Tallassee and they ran blood work to get to the bottom of it. The blood work came back and they immediately told me that my dog has 4x the amount of worms most dogs have and we started treatment. His white blood cell count was extremely high and my dog has been suffering because all Fur Buds cares about is getting your money!! I compared his blood work from Fur Buds and Mitchell's and things the vet wrote "aren't a concern" have only worsened since. Not to mention the receptionist is very rude and bratty. i will never take any of my pets here again, waste of money and waste of time. not to mention, my visit with mitchell was only $160. Awful awful place!! I wouldn't take my pets here if it were the only place open. First, they tell me my pitbull has parvo, when really she just ate some wild berries. Then, they held me in the clinic, not allowing me to leave because i didn't have ALL of the money at once. I had $35 on me and was going to take the other $50 back the next morning. Apparently that isn't allowed, and they pretty much held me hostage until my father had to come up there. Now, my mom took my chihuahua and they diagnosed her with cushions disease. The visit plus medicine was $354. They said "we would like you to bring her back in 3 weeks for a follow up." she set a date and my mother took her back at 10:30 a.m on the appt day and they said they'd be calling around 5 for us to come get her . 8 p.m comes around and we still haven't heard a word. my dad goes down there, and they won't give him our dog until he pays $112 that was not mentioned. How can you charge someone something that you never mentioned to them? we WERE NOT prepared to pay $100+. & in addition, the receptionist had the worst attitude we have ever dealt with. my father: "ma'am, i'm not sure if we'll be bringing our pets back, we can't keep getting charged for things we're not aware of" Receptionist: "okie dokie, have a nice day!" That's just one of many smart ass comments. They are liars and i believe, idiots. they only care about money. Heard from a friend about Fur buds, my dog was hit by a car and I took him down on a Saturday afternoon. They were super helpful, and even allowed me to sit in the back with my dog while we were waiting on x ray results. They called me after surgery to let me know how he was doing. They even text me pictures if I asked for it! The entire staff is amazing! I'm thankful they were available when my normal vet was not open. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in healthcare. If it was possible to give it no stars I would. Brought in our dog at 10:00 last night for severe seizures and was asked to pay 90$ and sign for treatment. Paid and signed it and they took him into the back for about 20 minutes and asked us questions. We were told that they didn't know the cause and were bombarded to sign and pay 800 dollars for treatment that may or may not have even worked. The vet refused to speak to our uncle (who is a PA and was working to help us make a decision) and kept telling us that she would speak to him in the morning and was too busy. But wanted to go ahead and sign to pay the 800$. Ridiculous. Our uncle advised us to just put him down. After more than an hour of seizures the dog's organs more than likely wooild be shut down and he probably suffered severe brain damage. The vet said he was up and well but after saying our goodbyes and seeing him for the last time, he looked tired and worn out. We made the decision to put him down. The cost for that was 350 alone. All they were concerned about was money as opposed to helping our dog. NEVER spend your money here. I don't care how far you have to drive, go somewhere else. Read Less

I'm not a negative review type person, but I had a horrible experience here. I had high hopes as my recommendation came from a trusted source. First, when I walked in, my dog was taken from me as I did paperwork and I was led to a room. After waiting and waiting, someone came in and asked me some questions. What are you here for and then after looking around "Where is your dog". I said told her he must be in the back. Someone took him already. Then another person came in asking where he was. Finally, I guess they found him. The rest of my communication with anyone was through them bringing me papers with dollar amounts on them. I was not given any information on what was going on, just asked to sign agreeing to pay for tests. When the papers got up to $600 dollars, I needed someone to tell me what he needed, how was he doing, what the recommended course of action was. Were there any alternative options. I was told "find someone with money. Someone you know can lend you money." I was prepared with the care credit option but asked about repayment and interest rates. I had to tell them I couldn't do the testing they wanted with care credit because of the interest rate being so high. They had me pay $230 dollars and leave with no care apart from an x-ray that they knew wouldn't show the obstruction suspected. Waste of money. Plus, I learned they had the option to make the interest 0% for up to 12 months but just wouldn't. I left after 3 hours of wasted time and a serious hit on my finances. My regular vet ended up coming to the rescue and two nights of hospitalization and careful treatment cost less than half of what Fur Buds wanted for one night. They were so uncaring and completely focused on money first, explanation later it was unreal. My regular vet, East University Vet Hospital was a lifesaver. Please if you can avoid Fur Buds, do so. A regular vet will show much more compassion and offer care tailored to your financial situation. I've never had a poor experience there and I'm convinced Dr. Marine saved my dog's life.Read Less

My 5 month old Lab baby girl was kicked by a horse. I ran in hysterical with her vomiting blood. They immediately scooped her up, gave her their full attention & calmed me. I called Furbuds vet clinic to make sure they were always open and the lady on the phone was super nice. Once we got to fur buds they took him in right away. He had bleeding in multiple spots due to itching so much from being infested with fleas(due to going to grandmas house, which she has 13 dogs". Anyways they looked after him like he was their own. My dog Percy was attacked by 2 Pitts Sunday, we found the number for this clinic and rushed him here for treatment. The staff was very compassionate and attentive. They patched up my baby. They were reasonably priced.He's still healing and skiddish, but without these people my poor baby would be in horrible shape. He had a follow up yesterday and everyone there was great and gentle with him while cleaning his wounds. I will be going back for to make sure he's healing properly. I took my cat here Sunday as he had got in a fight with ....something and was acting very hurt. they were GREAT I Loved the attention and the staff was super. The Dr. checked him over shaved a place on his neck where he had been bit and told us to keep a watch on it gave him Meds and sent us on our way ---called my house today to check in on him.I also think I will be using them the next time I need to board my dogs it was very clean, upbeat and seemed like a place my dogs would enjoy being, and most importantly they are open 24/7 so my dogs wouldn't feel like they were left all alone at night and over the weekend :-) Read Less

Today marks one Mon since my precious Daisey passed away in that place ( 1st she was diagnosed with UTI then her immune system was messed low blood count, then an infection in her Uterus! that she performed surgery only for her to pass away only hrs later! Because I am a person of limited resources I guess blood work was more expensive than surgery she said had been donated I thought I heard payment plan, I was told she was throwing out 82.00 bill for a small blood test and ultrasound when I was there that showed no abnormalities inside! I unfortunately put an offbrand flea topical on my cat that left her having no control of her body and constant shaking. SO PEOPLE READING THIS-NEVER PUT HARTS OR ANY OFF BRAND FLEA TOPICAL ON YOUR CAT! Cats fur and skin obsorb everything through, unlike dogs. (Did not learn this from Fur Buds, but online...Fur Buds did not give me any helpful info). I washed my cat with Dawn soap and got all the flea topical off of her. I made her drink water and rushed her to Fur Buds(it was a Saturday, so the real vet clinic was closed). I called Fur Buds to let them know I was bringing her in and to get a room ready, I was in complete PANIC! MY baby girl (the cat) didn't know what was going on and I was scared she was going to die! Well when I got there, I ran inside telling the receptionist(Daniela) this is Lilly expecting to get into a room (the doors were open and two rooms were empty) she was very rude and smerky made me sign in first and pay $80 first...I HAD TO PAY JUST TO SEE THE DOCTOR BEFORE ANY TREATMENT OR MEDICINE (that I ended up making them give her). So of course I payed and 10 mins later the Vet Tech (Antonio, I believe, possibly Anthony) asked me questions, told me good job on washing her with dawn...he was very nice! The only nice person I delt with there. He left and another 10 mins later the doctor came in, asking me the exact same questions [again I am in PANIC mode my cat has NO CONTROL OF HER BODY; took me 30 min to get there and waiting 20 min, I just knew in my head she was going to die] He said they want to keep her over night and just keep an eye on her. I said well are you going to give her anything!? He said we might hook her up to fluids if she needs them. I said she obviously needs them! She needs lots and lots of water to get this out of her system! He looked surprised that I knew that, I swear I knew more than he did. He said I'll let you think about it and walked away. The dumb doctor did not come back in, but the nice vet tech again. He said she would get fluids and a muscle relaxer. I made him swear by it. So I left my poor baby with them....not knowing if I was going to see her alive again or not (I got no re-assurance by them). The rude receptionist(Daniela) acted like she hadn't seen me that day made me pay more money (I know the emergency vet is costly .....but I payed $400 for NOTHING. They charge for every little detail) (Antonio?Anthony?)The very nice vet tech told me to call and check on her as much as I'd like. So about 4 hours pass and I call up there...Daniela answers and tells me the doctor is making his rounds to call and I'll get a call later. An hour passes (terrified my cat is dead) no call. I call up there again and this time I do not say I'm checking on my cat, I say let me speak with the vet tech! He picks up and tells me Lilly is doing about the same. I asked if she got fluids (again I was not going to leave her there over night if she did not get fluids I can watch her at my house for free and she be more comfortable)he told me she has fluids hooked up (later I fount out he probably had lied) he told me I can come back and check on her later that night if I'd like. So my husband and I drove 30 minutes back up there to see her. We waited about 15 mins to see her(later figuring out they were just now hooking up her fluids) We walk to the back and she is in the same room with about (not exaggerating) 40 or more dogs and many cats. Can you imagine being a cat and and listening to dogs bark all day (must be terrifying!) She wasn't shaking as bad, thank God but I noticed her fluid bag was completely foul. So I thought hopefully this is her 2nd bad (well when I got the rest of my bill the next day it was only one bag that she got !) I came and got her, she couldnt walk straigh,but was much better.My conclusion they billed me too much for one muscle relaxer and one bag of fluid that I had to beg for&she didn't get until I came back up there. I had an emergency with my German Shorthaired Pointer. He was at a boarding facility and got left outside to long by a careless kennel worker and suffered heat stroke. I went into the clinic yelling that I had an emergency and I needed help. Right away was a vet tech there and got him treatment. Although he was not able to pull through, the vets were very kind, they kept me advised on his condition and were very honest with me. They did not try to sell me on procedures that would not have made a difference to the outcome. They were very caring when we put my boy to sleep and helped me with his cremation. I used to use fur buds but I do not use them anymore I have a miniature pinscher mixed with dachshund and she had a bad knee they told me that they were going to have to do surgery on her knee it was going to cost about $800 and I decided not to do it I wanted a second opinion and I called my family vet North gay vet mary clinic and she recommended me to Dr. Thornton vet clinic and I have been using them ever since when I took my little men pin up there they did xrays on her leg and need and they said they did not see anything wrong with her knee she does have a bad knee but there is no need to replace it I have not replaced her knee and she is doing absolutely perfect if anyone needs to use a new vit I recommend dr. Thornton Animal Hospital it is in Opelika Alabama the same dog that has the knee problem she got spayed she started getting extremely sick I had to take her up there after hours to see what was going on Dr Moore if the vet that saw her and did the surgery he spent the time taking care of her and making sure everything was okay with her he is a lifesaver saves me $800 I strongly recommend everyone using him he is excellent guy and he will help you with whatever you need help with and will answer any questions you need answered they will also return your call the same day when you called Read Less

When in doubt, go to Fur Buds!!! Could not be happier with the care that was provided for my sweet Shih Tzu. He had a bad fall and seemed depressed and lethargic, so I brought him in on a Sunday night. I saw the vet promptly was given a detailed treatment plan with all cost options up front. I left him overnight to get treatment, and when I picked him up the next morning, he was acting like his old self again! It'll take a bit for him to return to 100 percent, but we were able to avoid surgery (saving me a good sum of money). During such a worrisome time, the whole staff was calm, nurturing, helpful and most importantly knowledgeable. I will not be going anywhere else in Auburn. They've got my business! Read Less
