We had an emergency situation with our cat who was not a patient there. They were very kind and even worked with us on price on follow up care. I was very impressed so I decided to take my well dog there for routine vaccines and a check up. When I checked them in, the front office workers kept pushing the “wellness plan”. They could not explain the total price of the plan, but kept saying the visit would be cheaper with the plan. When they couldn’t explain the pricing, I clearly told them several times I wanted the services I had asked for (heart worm check, heart worm pills, rabies vaccinations and a check by the doctor) and I would decide on the “plan” when I picked up my dog. They said this was fine. However, when I picked up my dog I was told that extensive testing had been done because I had signed up for the “wellness plan”. This included extensive blood work, ear swabs, etc., none of which I wanted. They also did bordetella without asking and parvo vaccine for a 10 year old dog. In the end, what should have cost $350 at the most cost me $550 because I paid for services that I didn’t want. If they had not been kind and helpful with my cat, I would have protested and not paid. However, since they had been so kind and helpful, I paid the the vet bill. Clearly, they got back whatever discount I was given on the cat by charging me $550 for the visit for my dog. I will be back one more time to get the other half of the “wellness plan” since I paid for it. I will not be back for anything else. I would beware of the “wellness plan” and the front office staff. The staff upfront is always so kind and friendly. The vets are very friendly and helpful as well. EVERY single time I have ever needed a last minute appointment for something unexpected, they have worked me in. This is so important. Once, there was even a staff member that offered to meet me on the Causeway to deliver my pet as a courtesy bc I was coming from Mobile and they were closing but I couldn't get there in time. That is ABOVE and BEYOND their job responsibilities, and she made me feel like she was doing this bc she cared. That is absolutely amazing to me, so I continue to visit this location. This is not my regular vet. I only went b/c it was a holiday weekend. I wanted to get my dogs in to see a vet ASAP as they had worms and this was the only place open. The Vet was very nice and helpful. She seemed very caring. The office staff was rude. One front office staff rolled her eyes at everyone (co-workers, customers, telephone calls, etc.). The other front office staff does not have the personality/temperament to greet customers. I left there with a $589 bill (De-worming and yearly vaccines). They were out of one of the medicines prescribed and I was told it would be available in a few days. Fine. I get home and find out that they did not give me different med that I paid for. I call the next morning and was told the meds would be available for pickup immediately. I go by that afternoon. Meds are not ready. The unfriendly front office worker tells me it is their policy to not fill prescriptions early... Really?! I guess it is your policy to charge customers for prescriptions and not give them the prescriptions. I get home and realize there dosing information is confusing. I call the vet and find out from the very rude office person (who repeatedly cut me off and talked over me) that they did not give me the right amount of meds I was charged for... Now, I get to go back to the Vet for the 3rd (and hopefully last time) today. Frustrating does not come close to describing this experience... Expensive and frustrating wouldn't even come close! If you want to harm your animal, bring it to this Banfield location in Spanish Fort. They gave our 11 year old dog a rabies shot on a Thursday. On Saturday a perfectly healthy dog was on his deathbed. Wife called up to the office to talk and they said "that's crazy, we've never heard of this before." It's all over the internet that there are problems with these shots that are totally unnecessary. The office lady said the vet on call would call us back, he didn't, hopefully he wasn't a vet from Auburn or A&M because they would roll over with an idiot operation like this on their watch. Our dog has been able to recover for the most part after much therapy and constant attention over the past week. We will never go back and I beg you to not deal with these unethical pet people. And no I don't work for PETA and I have been putting animals down since I was a kid in the country, yet I would call this operation a disgrace to the vet industry as even I was offended by the cold-hearted business feeling they created. This pet hospital is okay if you are in need of a vet immediately before 7:00pm. However, they don't really know what they are doing. Told us our dog may have cancer and we needed to do tests. Of course we do the tests, but some of the tests they did were unnecessary and excessive. Our dog was totally fine. Nothing wrong. Our second dog has allergies. We were given a medicinal shampoo to bathe him with. Two months later we were told not to bathe him in the $70 shampoo anymore because it was causing him to break out. They charge an insane amount for tests that aren't necessary, and do tests without consulting the owners. Also, wellness plan covers NOTHING when it comes to tests and medicine. I would recommend going to an actual veterinary office over this place. Like I said, good if you need an emergency visit. Read Less
