My dogs like it here. It's affordable as well, which is really important since one of my dogs needs regular care. Most of the patrons and staff were friendly. Our dog is pretty healthy, so its usually just checkups, and those are straightforward. However, he is a challenge when it comes to getting his nails clipped, so much so that he now has needs sedatives for it. They charged me for the visit, the "mandatory" bordatella shot, and the sedatives. Cool, $120 to prep him for a nail clipping. I'll do what it takes to get these suckers trimmed. Except they told me to only give him one pill, two hours before his appointment for the nails - even says it on the bottle. I get there with my drugged out dog, and find out that I incorrectly gave him the wrong amount and he needed four pills! So I had to muzzle up my scared, quarter of the way drugged up dog, walk him back, and they still charged me $60 for the clipping. "That's the price it's always been." Negative. No way do I trust them anymore after giving me the wrong prescription directions and lying about the pricing. My dog still doesn't want to load up into the car after that. Also, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you hear the techs in the back saying not nice things. Read Less

Me and my fiancé just took our kitten Edgar here for the first time and everyone there was beyond wonderful! Checked our kitten for everything, he ended up having ear mites which they took care of by giving him the proper ear drops/medicine. They clipped his nails without me asking, gave our kitten tons of attention and love, and they didn't rush what so ever. They took their time to explain and go through everything, and offered us a great deal on a month to month payment plan. They definitely care about animals, and the energy they have is amazing! I have heartfelt respect and admiration for the vets and staff of this clinic . Their comprehensive care plan is a brilliant idea and so altruistic for the animal community. I've been bringing my animals here for over ten years and absolutely love Dr Lindquist . I had an emergency with my newest puppy and had to go to the emergency vet on Dowling and follow up with Alaska vet clinic . The front seat staff have always greeted my animals like they were the best dogs in the world and make me feel like they are happy to see them . I had an appointment that ran late last week and no one seemed upset at all even though it was 20 minutes passed closing they were very polite and sweet . I feel like they care about my pups . The people at this clinic are wonderful, and they provide wonderful pet care packages. I took my fur baby here yesterday for a check up, teeth cleaning, and got his nails cleaned and paid less then a 1/3 of the full cost it would have been . I highly recommend it. Read Less

I wish I could give this place a better review. I have been a patron of this vet since 1994 and in the last few years have had enough experiences that I am now looking for a new vet. Prices have been hiked exponentially and the staff really pushes hard their internal pet insurance, taking every diagnosis and putting it in to terms of how it would benefit you financially to get on their insurance plan. It is assumed because we go there we will purchase all services from them. I was able to get my dog's vaccinations for a quarter of the cost and their lowest possible cost to spay my dog is almost 10 times what another vet quoted. My old veterinarian there, Dr. Froeshlee, was very good about talking to you about health benefits versus costs. I have seen 4 other vets at this location and none have discussed this with me. First and foremost, I loved our actual veterinarian, Dr. Pala. She was awesome with our dog and gave him great care. I left this practice because of the rude and unprofessional front desk staff. Specifically, follow through was missing. There were a couple of instances where my dog had GI upset and I called to see what I should do for him. I understand no medical advice given over the phone but the receptionist refused to put me through to a tech or a vet, and just insisted that I bring the dog in. Wouldn't give me an answer to whether I should fast the dog or give him a bland diet (super new dog owner, I didn't even know a bland diet was a thing!), just until I could get him seen. The receptionist was snotty and talked down to me when I explained I was asking because I wouldn't be able to bring the dog in that same day due to my own work schedule. Another time I brought the dog in for a lab test, Dr. Pala was out of town. I was supposed to be called back by the covering vet and never was. I called several times and was told that a tech would call me with results. That never happened, but I finally called enough times they put me through to a tech and the tech had never even been told I was waiting for a call back. Maybe this is petty, but along with everything else it's just the icing on the cake that their receptions still don't answer with "Alaska Veterinary Clinic." I called this morning to get records faxed to our new vet and the receptionist answered "hello?" Which made me wonder if I dialed the wrong number! I had to ask if I indeed had called the clinic. It's just unfortunate that the vets are so amazing and their ancillary staff isn't. We really did not want to leave Dr. Pala!! Upon leaving I realized that the prices here are pretty inflated compared to many other places in town. It's honestly everything, from vaccines to provider appts to lab send outs ($80 here compared to $25 at my new place for the same exact test!). I can't say enough good things about this office. We have taken our dog here for care for the past three years. My mini schnauzer was diagnosed a year ago with chronic kidney disease. With the help of Dr. Knudson and then Dr. Lindquist, she is stable and happy and energetic. They are so knowledgeable and show amazing dedication and care. Have always received excellent care, customer service and they offer a military discount (which comes in handy for me while I attend grad school in lieu of working). I have taken my pup in for typical annual care as well as some more complex issues that were not caught by our previous vet in Florida. She is horribly anxious at the vet and they are always quite understanding of her barks and growls. Staff is by far the friendliest I have ever encountered at any vet clinic and the facility is CLEAN. I mean, it astounds me how clean it is....doesn't smell like animals or pee that hits you like bricks when you walk in like other clinics. After our original vet quoted us $600 for our 6 month old lab husky to be neutered, we decided to look into a few different options and we came across them. When we called to get an estimate they were extremely helpful and so nice! They said the neuter would be $180 and since he hadn't been seen he would need an exam be for hand which would be $60. They got him in within a few days. We brought him in at 8 am and we were told we could pick him up around 4:30. They were right on time with everything and our total was exactly what they quoted us, we werent surpised with a completely different total. They even offer a military discount!
