Wow don't even think about coming here for specialty services if you're not in the Anchorage area; their communication is horrendous. We had a CT scan scheduled earlier this month for our male cat, one that had been booked out for weeks. We were going to drive down from Fairbanks on a Sunday, have him seen on the Monday and drive back either later that day or on Tuesday. They called and told my husband the internal medicine specialist they fly up from Seattle once a month ...had to cancel due to a family emergency; they said he was coming back for 1 Nov. We were flying back from Hawaii, due to get in that morning. Since we both were already off from work, we agreed and booked plane tickets to Anchorage. A turn and burn plane trip made more sense than getting in at 7 am and driving down 6-7 hours to Anchorage. And did I mention the roads up here are pretty bad right now? The Tuesday before we left Honolulu my husband calls the vet office to make sure we're still good; yup, still good for Thursday. We get in Wednesday morning, run home, shower, change, pack another bag, and get our cat ready to go. Our flight, which was originally supposed to leave at 3:25 pm, is delayed an hour. At exactly 4 pm on the dot the specialty services practice manager calls my husband to tell him the damn CT scanner went down on Tuesday; the doc prefers a CT but says they can get him in for an MRI on Friday afternoon. So we're supposed to reschedule all of this because you guys didn't alert everyone in a timely manner? I have work on Saturday, a Friday afternoon MRI (with an overnight for my boy's recovery) is not feasible. The practice manager seemed to not grasp the concept of us flying in, with the excuse of, "Oh, I'm from Seattle, I don't know where everything is in Alaska." If you guys are having outside vets referring patients in, and having people fly their pets in on their own to see your specialists, I suggest you get a rudimentary understanding of where stuff is here. I'm not from here either, but I at least generally know where the major cities are. Luckily our tickets are good for a year, and I could cancel the rental car and hotel with no penalty. But the lack of customer service is appalling. They may be fine if you're local, but we already told our local vet in Fairbanks not to refer people to them due to their poor communication. They're very lucky it was my husband they were dealing with and not me. See More Read Less
