We have taken all of our animals there for the last 25 years. They are amazing with our dogs. One story I can tell you is about when we had to put our lab to sleep due to her inability to walk anymore. I can honestly say it was the hardest thing we did, because she just loved going to the vet, she knew she would get all kinds of attention, and always a treat as we left. I remember even the lady at the front desk was sad when she saw how excited Anna was as she walked inside. The best thing I remember is about 2 weeks after she was put down, they sent us the most beautiful card giving their condolences for the loss of our family member. It was heartfelt and really represented their care and concern for the pets that they treat. Read Less

My family has been taking our pets here since my parents moved to Alaska, a year before I was born, so I literally grew up with them. I don't think there's a single person I would trust my pets with more than the staff here. They're so caring and they truly do love animals. I never feel worried or afraid if my pets ever have to stay over night (which has only happened when they're getting spayed/neutered and with one dog that kept getting infections do to a deformation in the urinary tract.) I always know they'll take good care of them and make sure they're healthy and relaxed. Read Less

I went here after calling around to several animal hospitals and clinic and Sand Lake was the most affordable I could find for the services I needed for my cat. The building is a little rustic, and the admin technology is outdated, but that's probably what keeps the costs down. The service was incredibly great. The support staff were kind and interested and the Doctor had the best personality. He is really funny, down-to-earth and informative. I highly recommend this vet! Read Less

We recently moved out of Alaska, and one of the saddest things was knowing we were going to need to find another good vet. We absolutely loved Dr. Chuck and our dog Penny loved going there.  The staff is caring and remembers you and your dog when you come in. When Dr. Chuck would join us in the room, he would spend the half a minute just talking to our Penny, giving her attention, and then he'd greet you, which we always loved. He's very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and caring, what more could you ask for! Read Less

I believe PET emergency mis-diagnosed my dog and wanted to talk to Chuck as he's been my trusted vet for over 20 years. Now my dog is dying and Chuck's staff won't even have him call me because their appointments are "full". Chuck's staff says to take him to PET but the don't seem to understand that it is PET who released him with puss and blood dripping from his mouth.
