After searching for the better half of two years for my pup's perfect spot, we found Southside Animal Hospital on the other side of town. I won't go anywhere else. Prices are reasonable, perhaps a little on the steeper side, but their customer service keeps me coming back. They are incredible with my high-energy, 88lb border collie mix. Vets spend a long time chatting with you, getting to know you and the dog, and really inquire about what your pet's been up to between appointments. They gave us helpful tips to work on my dog's atrophied leg and go over any questions or concerns you have that may require medication, but don't necessarily if you are able to maintain a new routine. That to me is a well informed vet who genuinely cares about my pup.They do take pet insurance and credit care. They are also great about holding records on file and building a history of your pet's health, which is something I found most other clinics not to stay on top of. They also make checkout very easy and will help you hold your wandering dog and keep his attention if you need to dig through a purse. The whole staff is accommodating, patient and friendly and the front desk will chat with you while waiting.  I actually love coming here, when before the vet was a painful experience for both me and the dog. Best vet ever! I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Schmidt for 17 years. I live in eagle river and still drive all the way to have the doc be our vet. She has put down two of our dogs and was there both times. She is like family. She cares so much for your animals and is so smart! I'll only ever go to her! Read Less

We recently switched to Southside animal hospital from a different local vet. The care and follow up we've received has been wonderful. Our dog is older and has bad hips. The vet has helped us find a more cost effective prescription, and set him up on a rehabilitation plan to help with his strength and pain. We didn't even know these were options with our old vet. They also gave us a follow up call to check on our dog. People consider their pets family and I love that we've found a vet that treats them that way. Read Less
