I want to express how extremely impressed and thankful I am for the staff at Far Country. Despite terrible online reviews and reputation, they are the only 24 hour vet open on Sundays, so when my dog was very ill we had no other choice. We left our dog with them for 24 hours And they encouraged us to call at any time for an update, even at 2 am. We called and they were kind and answered all our questions and provided very throrough answers. We had to put him down and I cannot tell you how kind and compassionate the staff was; the entire painful experience was made better by an amazing vet who was knowledgeable, straight forward and compassionate, as well as the administrative staff completing all the paperwork and processing the payment in a private exam room and then allowing us to leave out a private exit so we didn’t have to walk through the waiting room. I loved the vet, as well as the front desk staff and checked their prices which are all extremely reasonable for the area with vaccinations cheaper than anywhere else. Most of the staff is fairly new it seemed, someone cleaned house so give this place another chance and don’t listen to old reviews because it is a like a new clinic! Read Less

We brought our Welsh Terrier in after it was attacked by another dog. Sadly that other dog, a Springer spaniel, belonged to us as well. The two dogs had lived together for 7 years prior to this and never had any previous fights until recently. The Welsh was badly hurt and we had to make a difficult decision with our springer spaniel. The staff was very professional and empathetic to our very bad day. They patched up the welsh terrier and he appears to be on the way to a full recovery. We knew all of this would be expensive, but surprisingly it was not nearly as much as the initial estimate. Thank you for how you handled this tough situation. Your professionalism and caring nature showed and was much needed that day. I really wish you had the staffing you need to go back to being open 24/7. But I understand that is not an option at this time. Chris & Kim Read Less

I had to take my cat in for an emergency dental extraction in early January, and then took my dog there this week for a terrible cough. Both experiences have been excellent. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Many of the bad reviews are from folks who complain about the cost of services: medical costs for pets are always going to be somewhat substantial. The tooth extraction for my cat, with meds and an overnight stay, was around $1K and the whole visit for my dog with meds was $150. These are costs associated with having pets. That's not the fault of the facility. The health of my animals is of the utmost importance to me, and that is clearly what VCA cares about as well. I highly recommend taking your pets here when they need medical attention: you may have to wait a bit if there are others in front of you, but the services you will receive are well worth the wait. We used to love this clinic. Then they changed to a walk-in basis only about the same time that most of their staff left. Recently, my dog that was ill was told by the vet to come in for a recheck. When I took him there, we waited over 2 1/2 hours to be seen. Meantime "some" people had been given appointments and we left when someone who was a friend of a friend was allowed to "walk" in ahead of our suffering dog because they had arranged with an employee to "walk in" for a vet check up and immunizations. On Easter Sunday I had to take my poor dog to the vet due to a hotspot on his face and neck. I called the office to see if it was open and I was delighted to know that they are a 24/7 animal hospital with walk in availability. The staff was more than accommodating and pleasant and the Doctor working with my dog kept me informed of my options of what can be done for treatment and giving me the information so I could make a well informed decision. Cost-wise, I was given options based on the route I wanted to take and it enabled me to make the better decision in my dog's treatment. I am more than satisfied with not only the results so far, but with the fact that the doctor actually called and left a message on my voicemail for a follow up to see how Remy is doing. While I was there, I also witnessed how the staff interacted with a distraught customer who was dealing with an emergency and they were very empathetic and calming with her. Animals are such a huge part of people's lives and to see the care they provided not only me this past Sunday shows the dedication on their part(s) to ensure the best care is being provided. The vet was very nice, professional and knowledgable. However, I felt the estimate to get my dog's potential urinary tract infection looked at was way out of line. We are talking like 500 dollars. I told them I didn't have 500 dollars for my dogs issue right now, an then they cut several services off the estimate and dropped the estimate to 260. I paid this amount for the urinalysis, ultrasound and exam. I was very confused as to why they tried to sell me 500 dollars worth of services when 260 was really allthat was needed. Our little dog, Trixie, had an emergency that required exploratory surgery and resulted in extensive organ repair. Dr. Lucas did a wonderful job taking care of her, explaining the procedure to us, answering our questions, and was very honest about the bill. Yes, it was expensive, but our dog would have died had we waited until Monday to see our reg. vet. The whole staff was very kind and supportive and tried to work with us as much as possible. We truly felt that they cared about our pet and even, us. It's been 10 days since her surgery and she is almost back to normal! I hope we don't have to go there again for another emergency, but I know now that we'll be taken care of if we do. Thank you Far Country! Read Less

Although the staff is friendly to your face, they can be quite frustrating. I called in advance to ask for a wait time; they started it would be 30 minutes. I arrived and asked about the wait time again; I was informed 30-40 minutes. Over TWO HOURS later I was still waiting for a very basic check up. Once again, the staff can be polite and helpful but when it's not truthful it can be frustrating. But being one of the very few places you can take your dog after 5pm, what else can you do but put up with it because you love your dog? (A factor they seem to be aware of) Overall, not the worst place but they are slow and often behind, especially for how their prices compare to other places. Read Less

I had just moved to the Valley this summer and hadn't had the opportunity to seek a Veterinarian for my beagle Macy. One night after work I had discovered a abscess on the side of her face the size of a golf ball. I googled for an after hours hospital and Far Country came up as the only one in the Valley. Off we go and after making our way through the construction, we made there. We were meted there by very friendly staff and a large clean waiting room. We were seen in a reasonable time by a technician and than Dr. Whittington. The exam was very clean. The technician and Dr Whittington were very professional and friendly. After the exam, pain meds and antibiotics, a reasonable bill and we were on our way in no time at all. I received a follow up call the next day from a staff member who was very friendly. Unfortunately it didn't end there. Macy had stopped eating and it was really starting to concern me. We made a follow up appointment with Dr Whittington. There was nothing obvious, we thought the meds were upsetting her stomach. So we stopped the pain meds and changed the antibiotics. No change and the prescription ran out. Now I'm force feeding her at home. At the next appointment, we did blood work and x-rays. The blood work wasn't so good and there were some questionable areas in the x-rays. Dr Whittington wanted us to see Dr Collins, an associate that specializes more on internal problems. Dr Collins, another very professional and friendly doctor, was very up front. She kept her for the day and took some samples from the questionable areas on her liver and pancreas. Off to a lab they go. A few days later on her off day, Dr Collins called me from her home. No sign of cancer. YaY! Now to figure out what the heck. Even though I'm force feeding Macy, she's not getting all she needs and is loosing weight and getting weaker. At the next appointment, Dr Collins admits her to the hospital. She's getting IV's and has a bone marrow test. Off to the lab it goes. After two days she seems to have stabilized but now her blood counts are worse, her immune system is failing. On steroids and antibiotics she goes and she gets to come home. After a couple days, she starts eating on her own and starts getting some energy back. She's far from being her old self (she's 6), but she seems to be on her way. We should be getting the bone marrow test back any day. We still don't know what the underlying issue is. I have total confidence in the doctors and staff at Far North. They have been nothing but professional, honest and friendly with me. They show they care for Macy and want her well as much as I do. No this isn't a good experience for Macy, but I feel I've brought her to the right place. Dave Dorsey Read Less

We were given a price range for services which when all said and done was significantly less than the lowest quoted price. I felt like this place tried to rip me off. Read Less

Read Less

If I could give negative stars I would. They wanted to charge me 900 dollars to fix a puncture wound on my pups foot. He was told he was a "bad dog" because it wouldn't stop bleeding. After being told that we didn't have the 900 dollars they said they would shave his leg and wrap it up so it would stay clean turns out they didn't shave his leg and used medical grade tape which ripped his fur out when we tried to remove it. Never going back there again.
