We took our 8 year old lab mix for examination due to a lump we recently noticed. The front desk ladies were extremely nice and very efficient. We saw Dr. Newquist at our scheduled time. She examined Rogue and right away thought that the lump was just a fatty tissue. She told us she could take samples to verify right at the office and if she thought it was more suspicious she would send it off for more testing. After 10 minutes she came back and verified it as fatty tissue. Before doing anything the office notifies you of cost which is great. Doctor Newquist and staff very friendly. The absolute BEST place to take your furry little friends (and critters too!)! They are always so kind, compassionate and willing to answer your questions. We have 5 Guinea Pigs and a puppy, 2 of which have had the pleasure of visiting Dove Valley, all of which will now will be seen by Dove Valley as there is NO WHERE in Arizona that comes even close to the level of customer service they provide. Prices a little higher in your opinion? I would much rather pay the higher prices than take my babies somewhere that will not give them the level of attention and care they deserve, and wont get it done right the first time. I brought my guinea pig, Bria, in because she appeared to have been suffering from an UTI. I had tried to take the care of her the best I could through my research of different products and foods to help her. However, she was exhibiting pain while urinating and defecating, so I decided to take her in out of fear for her well being. Thankfully, she was defecating without pain the next day but I was still concerned about her urinary tract. Dr. Koza gave Bria a thorough examination. Bria kindly gave a voluntary urine sample while on the examination table which saved Dr. Koza from having to obtain one. The urine looked much better than previously passed. I'm new to the area and a friend told me about this Veterinary Clinic I called and made an appointment. It was a Sunday I was surprised to see that it was just like another work day for the employees. I was greeted with all smiles cheerful attitude and a happy environment. My dog was hurting very bad and they treated her like she was a little baby with such care and love. The doctor was a young lady who was very caring and listen to what I had to say. She treated Pebbles my dog so kindly that made me comfortable. She treated my doggie with care and prescribed the right kind of medicine and then we checked out and went home. The next day I received a phone call from the clinic asking how Pebbles was this was far above the line of duty. I love this animal hospital. The staff are really nice and accommodating, and Dr. Kiedrowski is just phenomenal with the detail he gives and even draws if need be, about the condition in which he will be treating your animal for. He leaves no room for wondering what is going on or what's going to happen. Very cool. I just brought my puppy in a couple days ago to have cancer removed from his armpit, the doc made me feel very comfortable and confident that my baby was in good hands! He called twice in the 15 minutes it took him to perform the surgery and let me know my baby was doing well through the surgery. I could not be happier with their service and I highly recommend them! After writing a scathing review about Scottsdale Animal Healthcare on Pima on what I would call the worst experience with a vet EVER, I felt it appropriate to write this one. I had been a client of Dove Valley for several years. Dr. K and Dr. N are amazing and truly love pets not their own personal wallets. Our labs who have since passed away at 15.5 and 16 were always happy and comfortable. Our deaf, previously abused, rescue dog has never been uncomfortable when visiting Dove Valley and she is terrified of most people.  Our new lab, Gunner, I can honestly say looked forward to his vet visits. We moved from Cave Creek to Scottsdale about a year ago. I  wanted to find a vet closer to us. This past Friday I tried a new vet as I was concerned about our lab's excessive panting. It was a horrible experience. The difference, was not only the obvious personal financial gains of the vet and owner of SAH but the experience my dog went through. I will regret my decision to stick through the visit for a very long time.  The vet used a cold, metal platform that he drags your dog on to and attaches the leash to the back,so the dog's neck is pulled, he then remotely, with a foot petal  raises it up in the air to be waist level. My 70lbs lab who has no fear, no anxiety was terrified. He was trembling in fear when I got up to console him the vet stated, that I am the cause of his anxiety.(That he does not have by the way) Our boy has NEVER, EVER trembled in the care of Dr. K or Dr. N. Why? Because they don't use ridiculous over priced equipment that terrifies your dog, instead they walk in and sit on the floor with the dogs, every single time. They give hugs and kisses, therefore our dogs are happy. The vet stated Gunner's excessive panting was anxiety. Gunner has zero anxiety.  I have learned a very valuable lesson, unfortunately at my dog's expense. Drive the extra 20 minutes and go back to vets who truly, absolutely, with 100% care about your dog's well being and comfort.  I highly recommend Dove Valley and I can guarantee without a doubt, I will be back regardless of how long it takes me to get there.  There is no inconvenience when it comes to the care of our dogs. Thank you Dove Valley for making me realize the importance of a compassionate vet. I have spent the entire day trying to make up for Gunner's experience. He is fine. As a foster for an organization that takes in many sick kittens and mother cats I am very thankful that Dove Valley Animal Hospital and Dr. Koza and Dr Newquist have been there for us, helping to save many lives.  I have found them to be caring and competent. The facility is kept clean and the staff is always welcoming and efficient. We have been coming here for a few years, as well as other vets, the staff here is really very nice, they appear competent to a degree (The Dr./Vets) however DR. Mike K. in particular, is primarily a salesman trying every angle to sell products, surgery (he is not a surgeon by the way) ex rays (at double the rate of most offices) tests, inoculation pre-pay plans Etc.They are accommodating no doubt, but we are switching vets, because we want primarily correct care for our numerous animals, not a hard sell to jack our bill higher. They were recommended to me by a friend because they offer great services and allow payment plans were most animal hospitals don't. Unfortunately, we had to put our dog Sadie down last year and just last week we hat to put our cat Rufus to sleep as well. The staff was kind and caring and very sympathetic. I received a sympathy card today on the loss of Rufus. Many people don't believe a pet is a family member. For my husband and I who don't have children, our pets are our children. I have been very happy with this group. DR Newquist is wonderful with my cats, and even gives my older cat Jack Accupuncture. They literally saved the life of our female cat when she went into acute renal failure. If not for their quick thinking and knowledge she would not have survived. My dog recently had a bout with something that could have been serious. We saw both Dr Koza and Dr Newquist during our visits. Both of the veterinarians took the time to listen and understand and then ask questions to make sure they fully understood. After that they both took the time to offer all options available and explained possible outcomes. They and their staff truly cared about our dog and treated us with respect. The Drs themselves followed up with us every day instead of just getting their staff to contact us. Either way would have been fine but to hear specifically from the Dr shows true care. They knew the urgency of the situation and were able to squeeze our dog in within a moments notice. We plan to go back for any further needs we may have. Read Less

My name is Christopher and I brought my gorgeous green tree python to see Dr. K on a matter of a stomach issue.  I perceived it to be dire since the location of the lump was not in the right place and I already set myself for the worst.  Once Dr. K saw the snake, he too embraced me for the worst, since it looked to be a tumor.  He is honest with everything.  He gave me the options and did not push me an any direction, and he did not give me that stare that some vets do when they want you to go over and beyond to save your cherished pet, when, obviously, something bad is wrong and thousands of dollars is not going to cure it.  We chose a quick surgery and amazingly so, his one prediction of Stardust being out of harm's way came about.  Dr. K did a beautiful job on the recover of the surgery and it's diet plan and now my Python, Stardust, is roaming about at night and eating and pooping just fine.  Thank you Dr. K. We are Canuks down travelling around the area for the winter. Our dog had been having GI issues for over a month and we had been to see a couple of vets south of Phoenix before travelling to the Carefree area to camp. We took our new chihuahua to Dove Valley Animal Hospital after discovering his hernia was more serious than thought initially.  He is only 2lbs, and 15 weeks old, so we were really worried about him undergoing surgery.  Dr. Mike Kiedrowski saw us on Saturday, and said he would do the surgery that day, as we are from Canada, and had a flight Monday.  He said he'd rather do it Monday, so he had all day to monitor him after surgery, but he was willing to stay late to take care of Fernando.  We postponed our flights and he had Surgery today, Monday.  We were really worried, but he is now home, in pain, but still with us.  Thank you so much Dr. Mike Kiedrowski, and his assistant Stephanie.  The customer service was 10 out of 10, and we are happily cuddling him tonight.  Stephanie is a lovely woman, and definitely cares about her furry clients, and Dr. Mike Kiedrowski is competent and reassuring.  Thank you for everything, and Merry Christmas to all of you!   I will definitely bring my other chihuahua here for anything in the future when we are in Arizona. NOT TOO THRILLED with this vets office. Took our lab/Korgy mix, Wally in twice in the last 2 years or so. Visited with both vets. They immediately suggested surgery! First time we took him in for his back leg. He probably tweeked it from jumping or running in the yard and he had a bad limp. Wouldn't even put weight down on it. The woman vet immediately says 'surgery' and had a printout ready with the cost. She had some long technical term of what it could be without an X-RAY. We figured wait a little bit and see how he progressed. He turned out fine!! She didn't even suggest it. The limp went away and he was back to the normal Wally we know. THEN, the second time I took him in we noticed a little bump on his bum. Like a large, white pimple next to his anus. Wanted it checked, took him back in and he said it was a polyp and it needed to be removed immediately. Here we go again with surgery! He said it should be done in the next couple weeks!! Again, we thought, lets wait and see how it progresses. Well guess what? That little bump disappeared!! This place is surgery happy so BEWARE. Read Less

They treat you as if your pet is the most important one in the world and it doesnt matter what type of pet it is. They treat all pets the same. They call to check up on them and always make time to fit anyone in. Dr K and Dr Newquist are extremely knowledgeable and kind. They take time to not only check your pet but to listen to the pets owner too. You will never be treated as if you are just another number or that its about the money because its not an act they truly care. I live 45 minutes away from their office but it is definitely worth the drive and I will remain loyal. My family and I have taken all of our animals here for several years now and have nothing but good things to say. Dr. K if very personable and you can tell that he truly has a passion for animals. The time he takes to answer any and all questions to the fullest is something I haven't experienced anywhere else. He has done surgery on five of our families animals (including dogs, cats, and turtles) and I could never trust anyone else like I do him. He is very accommodating and let me be in the back with my dog until she was nice and calm. He truly makes the experience for you and the animals as pleasant as possible.
