The receptionist's always greet me with a smile, the technicians treat my pups as their own and I am more than comfortable to leave my pups in their care any day. Great staff they were super nice not only to me and my K9(who is a handful) but my baby as well. I was very pleased that they were able to work with Belgian Malinois and under stood the breeds nature and energy. Excellent staff. Helpful, knowledgeable, sweet, and always great with my dog. The lobby does not feel like a vet's office, which is so nice for the dog. (Clean, comfortable, relaxing, upscale decor.) She doesn't realize where we are, freak out and try to leave, like she has at past veterinarian offices. My dog is always calm and comfortable, even in the exam room. I have been utilizing the excellent service at Ocotillo Animal clinic since 2005. They have been extremely kind and helpful in taking care of my two previous dogs who were sick and needed assistance in their daily life. They handled their transition with love and dignity. I currently utilize the clinic for my 5 year old dog and I am very happy with her care. Both sets of dogs were also users of the boarding facility. I HAD been a client of Ocotillo Animal Clinic for 14 years but they have gone downhill.  I loved Dr. Robson but she had a baby and took a very long leave until her child entered school.  I then started seeing other vets there - Dr. Anderson (left the practice), Dr. Brazael (left the practice), Dr. Knott (left the practice).  I thought something is not right here that their veterinary staff keeps leaving.  Other than the 2 ladies up front who had been there when I started going there and who are still there now, the cast of characters up front was always changing and were poorly trained.   I have a fat cat who can't clean her back end so she needs to go regularly for a "sanitary cleanup" or she ends up with a bladder infection (which, at Ocotillo, you can count on costing $500.00 or more with the lab tests, cultures, antibiotics, pain meds and follow-up appointment).    It had always cost $10.00 for the sanitary cleanup but one day it jumped straight to $26.00 and then they just had to get one more dollar out of me and the last time it was $27.00  In general, all their costs have increased lately.   They've remodeled so I can't help but wonder if these high price increases are a way to pay for it.  During my last appointment there I had a snotty tech with a bad attitude.  I complained about her at check-out and also about their steep price increases.  I got an email survey from them on my visit and for the first time since they started sending out surveys I gave them 1 star instead of 5 stars.  When I went back for the follow-up appointment to my last visit, the office manager called me aside and told me that since I was unhappy we should part ways.  There was no apology and no discussion about how they could make things better.  She went so far as to tell me that I was the only complainer they had.  If you read through all these reviews you can see more people give them low ratings than high.   Little did the office  manager know, I had already researched a new vet and had an appointment to take one of my other cats in for an initial visit.  I was already done with Ocotillo.  If you have money to burn, don't mind seeing various vets, can put up with "attitude" and deal with a front office staff who doesn't know left from right then this is the place for you. I love them for vet but I won't use them again for boarding. I picked her up and they hadn't done her nails after charging me and saying they had. They handed me back her bed that was covered in poop and she never poops herself and said they didn't have time to wash it......not sure how long she was sitting in her own poop. This is honestly the Best vet clinic I have ever been to.. I was raised with horses and was in 4h for 5 years raising sheep. I never had to board a dog before but this place helped me out in so many ways. My dog is not neutered and I just moved from Oregon to Arizona. I guess I didn't have the right shots for him(per state it's different) Not only did they take him in but aloud him to say for 7 days! He had his shots done several months before but didn't have backups? Because of his age he didn't need that! He is a healthy boy! Boston Terrier... when I picked him up he was willing to go back to the kennel. Now for him to trust anybody is amazing. I absolutely recommend this place for boarding and vet check ups! Read Less

This review is about the boarding side of the clinic.  We have been going to the vet, groomers and boarding for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience.  We made a reservation to board our 4 years old dog for a week in June.  He is a big, but a lover of people and has been boarded many times without incident. Well, Ocotillo just redid the boarding facilities which seem quite lovely, but with this change they seem to be very disorganized.  We went to drop off our pup and it took over 45 minutes to check him in because they were busy?? I don't really know why, but it is frustrating as we obviously were going on a trip.  Upon check in they didn't have any of his health/shots etc paperwork printed, and he is a client there.  I would think they would have this handy as they were asking me for it.  I offered to go the extra 30 feet to ask them to get this records but they said they would.  They required a fecal test prior to boarding so I dropped off a sample and paid, but upon check in they had no record of this as well.  The check in lady had some option we could chose like personal play time, cheese filled kongs, baths, brush etc.  I chose a personal playtime each day and a kong every other day.  These options did cost extra. They did give us a tour which was nice and let us put him in his area he will be staying.  That was a nice touch.  All the "rooms' have a cot, and water bowl.  We left and came to pick up our pup, a day early and discovered the same chaos upon pickup.  It could of been because we were early but we did call that morning and gave them a time we would be by. It took forever as the bill wasn't ready.  When it was ready only 1 personal playtime was on the bill.  I don't know why the others didn't happen. Upon entering the pick up room, 2 people had Jasper on a leash and gave him to us. I had to ask how it went.  The girl said he was fine until he bit her towards the end. I was horrified.  She said she was okay, but he has cage aggression.   Well,  I felt terrible, and was very surprised as he has never bit anyone.   I am not sure if this boarding is the place for him.  I can't figure out if the whole situation was a bit chaotic and that had an effect or if he just was bad.  We didn't get any more feedback in a written "report card" like we used too and I think we will look around for a new boarding situation next time. I think this kennel is probably fine, and if my dog was bad, that is on me. However I think they need to work out some kinks and I hope they do. Our experience was just so so. Read Less

I received a bill from the company for a complete mis-diagnosis of my dog. They would not work with me on the bill. Basically if you bring your dog there and they screw up they are still going to charge you for whatever they possibly can because it's all about billing and making money to Ocotillo Vet Clinic. We had been using their services for 6 years and they didn't care that they screwed up. In fact their diagnosis was "we've never seen anything like this before".We ended up going to another vet clinic that immediately diagnosed our dogs problem when we walked in the door and we found out that it's was very common amongst that breed. We googled it and that backed it up. So not only were the vets at the Ocotillo Vet incompetent but they like to bill you for their incompetency. They were also complete jerks when we tried to discuss negotiating the bill. Their stance was Zero at Fault, we provided a competent service and we expect to get paid in full. They do not care if they lose a customer of 6 years. Wow, I was stunned that this is how they do business. The service at Ocotillo is above and beyond what I have found anywhere else. The Doctors really care and make me feel so much better about my pups care. I would not recommend this vet. Our pet was misdiagnosed we ended up at an emergency vet. After walking through the event with the emergency vet, we found out the diagnosis was something that should have been caught in previous visits with Ocotillo Animal Clinic. My hubby and I have a house in Sun Lakes, and we have a puppy mill rescue named, Ellee, who is a 7 pound bundle of love who needed a place to call home while my hubby and I went to the Rose Bowl. We did our research, got some recommendations, perused the reviews, and we decided to board our Ellee with these FAB people!! We can't say enough about how awesome they were and how they went out of their way to take care of Ellee....and us. We got email updates, they sent us pictures of Ellee and her day, and they talked to us over the phone to let us know that she was doing just fine!! Boarding a furry love is a family affair, and these fine people know all about how to take care of big people nerves while loving on your furry soul. I was a new out-of-state customer with a slight emergency. They got me in the same day without a thought. My Lab had lumps under his throat the size of walnuts. The office, the technician and the doctor were pleasant, helpful, outstanding and compassionate. The technician was in no hurry to hear my dogs history and problems and the doctor so tender with my dog. She gave me her opinion on what she felt was the possible problem and suggested lab work to prove her theory. Unfortunately the news was not good, but the way they broke that news and continued to follow through with me was above and beyond. I had never visited this veterans' office before today, and I can tell you it will be my new office for my dog. She had a foot issue and I called to get an appointment same day. The staff was so helpful and so nice. The girls even helped me balance my dog and my infant in a car seat to make things easier. The first appointment was great. They gave him medication to make him comfortable. He was happy for two weeks. Then he was suddenly having trouble breathing. Called Ocotillo Animal Clinic and they would not give us an appointment until Monday even though they knew he was having trouble breathing. We would not wait 48 hours for them to see him and give him the wrong medication again so we took him to the emergency vet. They did x-rays and told us that a huge hernia and free gas was pushing his organs up into his chest and throat. No fixing that without my dog living the rest of his life in pain. The hospital said the most humane thing to do was put him down. We had to. I realize this is a genetic thing with his breed, but why couldn't Ocotillo be more considerate? You were going to make me wait until monday. You were going to make him suffer until monday. How dare you. Read Less

This place is great!! I travel for work sometime, so I have to feel comfortable about leaving my Yorkie in good hands. From day one, they did everything to make me feelcomfortable. Usually when I arrive to the clinic, front office staff has their face in the phone call they're on, no acknowledgement and rather chaotic atmosphere going on. Spent over 20 minutes today on the phone waiting to get information on boarding for my dog. 20 minutes for a simple schedule question! asked to speak to office manager, at which time I got the voicemail and no call back. Meanwhile I'm at work, because I thought this would be a 5 minute phone call. My coworkers kept asking why I was on hold for so long. Now they also have a negative opinion of this place. Read Less

I had to let go of my beautiful, 14-year-old dog, Nick. It was a devastating decision that I concluded was the humane thing to do for my best, little buddy who was suffering from heart disease. I was miserable and they were wonderful at treating my little guy with the respect and dignity he deserved. From the veterinarian to the technician, they were all so kind and supportive. When I picked up his ashes, they made me a beautiful plaque with his name and paw print. I am still grieving his loss, but they helped me make the unbearable, bearable. My husband and I are new to the Chandler area and were looking for a vet for our newly rescued lab mix. The scheduling of the appointment was very simple online, which we liked.When we arrived at the clinic, we noticed they have the boarded cats right in the front of the lobby. Now, I understand that some dogs are socialized and good with cats, but our newly rescued pup was not and had a hard time not paying attention to the cats. Minor issues, but poor layout.We were called back by a nice assistant who took our dog's weight and was patient as we tried to encourage him to get up on the scale. Our dog didn't growl or bark at this assistant.When we were settled in the room, it took about 10 minutes for the vet tech to come in and our dog barked at the guy. He informed us that we'd need to put a muzzle on the dog. Ok - totally understand this. The positive note of the vet tech was he gave the dog a treat and a chance to calm down before making anymore judgements about the dogs "aggression".A few minutes later the vet came in and the dog barked, and the vet RAN OUT OF THE ROOM. Never in my life have I seen a vet scared for a barking dog who is 50lbs. We told her that when you stare at the dog and walk towards him, he's afraid, not aggressive. She clearly had no clue about basic dog training techniques or experience with rescue dogs.Anyway, we put the muzzle on the dog and the vet gave him the exam and his shots. She told us our dog has allergies which is "one more thing we have to look forward to". I couldn't believe the passive aggressive comment. We should've left immediately after her negative reaction to the dog. Not once did she pet him, comfort him, or leave a treat for him. So cold and unwilling to give the dog a chance. The one star is purely for the service we received from the vet tech and the assistant who showed us to the room. However, I'm not visiting a vet office just for those two personnel. We've been going here for 5 years.  Our puppy had been going to another vet until we couldn't get here in for an appointment. The difference between vets isn't even close. In the last 6 mos our puppy (14 yrs.)  Started having failing health.  The staff has been compassionate, supportive and caring.  Compared to emergent care the prices are reasonable.  They have always provided options and kept cost in mind.Dr. Robson is a superstar.  She has made late night phone calls and consults.  She was intimately familiar with our pup, was tender with her and had stellar bedside manner.  She would take the time to calm our pup down before each exam.  We recently had to put our little girl to sleep.  They gave us all the time we needed, gave us a big room for our little puppy to accommodate our large family. A few days latter flowers arrived at our door with a sweet condolence.We will eventually get another family companion when we do Ocotillo Animal Clinic we be our vets. Read Less

We have taken our 9y rold shih-tzu and 10yr old tuxedo cat to Ocotillo Animal Clinic now for about a year and a half, they see Dr. Lister. They take very good care of them, I've never had any complaints, the staff are very nice and gentle as far as you can tell as the owner. Animals are very happy when they're coming out from the back. We used their boarding service for 1 week when we went on vacation and they will show you their facilities. He seemed to do very well, he was happy and healthy when we got back. Their cat boarding facility is pretty large and in front of a fish tank where cats are kept entertained. The costs are quite reasonable and we have three animals receiving medication from them. I called to make an appointment for my dogs to get groomed there but was made to feel like I was bothering the person who answered the phone. (I think her name was Mary) she wasn't friendly, she acted as if looking for a further date was too much trouble and she had no problem turning me away.I feel there needs to be some customer service training for people who are the first point of contact with the public! I would steer clear of this place. The staff is friendly and nice... But as far as treating your pet this place is incompetent. I took my pet (11 yr old dog) in about 8 months ago. I was told she had pneumonia & bronchitis. They gave me meds for treatment. They never informed me that 2 weeks later there was a check up. So I get a call and email to bring Gracie back in for a check up. I do this immediately. I'm charged again for a follow up, and more meds cause they claimed the ones that were prescribed the first time were not strong enough to treat her illnesses. After paying for all of this again my dog has never gotten better. But I'm out a $1000 and she's suffering. I don't have anymore money to take her to a real vet and these bloodsuckers don't care that my beloved pet is home suffering and can't breathe. They just want billable patients and could care less about diagnosing and treatment. BEWARE! Read Less

Last month my friend got animal control called by this vet's office because her 3 month old puppy was getting his harness off and the harness pinched the puppy and the puppy bit the owner. The assistant made a stink and so animal control was called. Today I went with my friend and we ended up weighing the puppy ourselves! A assistant then walked us to the room and the vet. yelled out "has he bit anyone?", she obviously didn't see me. When the vet. came into the room she then asked if the puppy has been seen by a behavior specialist! At a charge of $250 for two hours! The vet. was told no because it was too much money, and this is a puppy! The vet. insisted the puppy be on the table for the shots, I had to hold the treat and feed the puppy while the vet. gave the shot. There was no assistant to help. So, we weighed and help give the puppy a shot, isn't that what is paid for when you go to a vet.? It seemed to me that the vet. was trying to get the puppy to bit again, when checking the puppy out on the floor she spent too much time checking his teeth, lungs and "lower area". After leaving and getting home we recieved a message that the vet's office forgot the heat worm medicine, and also forgot to give it at the last visit. This was the worst vets office i have been too, first of all i would have never went back to a vets office after they turned me in to animal control for a puppy bite to it's owner! Isn't that what they say "Puppies bite and chew on everything"!? I have the brother to this puppy and my vet would have NEVER done this to me. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
