I have been taking my dog here for a few years to see Dr Burns. First vet I have felt comfortable with and trusted until recently. I I brought my dog in because of a growth. Dr Burns was out of town so I saw the assistant. She examined my dog and told me to get a $250 blood test and when Dr Burns came back she would have her call me about doing surgery (considering the blood work came back fine). A few days later I received an email stating that the blood work was good but Dr Burns would not do the surgery because of the size and location of the growth. This is very frustrating because not only did I get my hopes up but I feel like I was cheated into getting a $250 blood test when she knew there was a possibility that Dr Burns would not do the surgery. I will not be going back to Priority Pet nor recommending them any more. Read Less

I have been taking my cats to Priority Pet for over 10 years. Dr. Burns and staff are extremely competent, thorough and professional. In addition they are very caring. Our cats are "family" to them. They know them personally and always remember them, which is an added plus. I have been to vets before who have treated my pets like a number on a piece of paper. This is definitely not so in this case. We travel 20 miles to see Dr. Burns which is no easy chore (traveling with cats in a car). Obviously it is worth it to take them to her. I would recommend Dr. Burns to anyone who values their pets! Read Less

They are very gentle with our dog, since she gets very skittish there. They're good with keeping pets separated, so aggressive dogs don't cause a skirmish. This is my second review of Dr. Burns. My cat Alvin has been her patient for about two years. I found out that he had resorptive teeth and needed to be put under to have radiographs, a deep cleaning, and possible extractions. He had lost two canines prior to this, had horrible breath and red inflamed gums that I could see.  I was very nervous about the procedure. My cat is blind and had never been under general anesthesia before. I dropped Alvin off at 7:30 a.m. and her staff was nice enough to call me and kept me updated on his procedure. They called when he went in, when he came out, and when he woke up. He was ready for pick up by 2:30 p.m. and Dr. Burns had prescriptions for pain and antibiotics called in for me to pick up. My cat had four teeth extracted! Today is the fourth day post operative, and he is doing FANTASTIC. You couldn't even tell he had surgery. He even ate the first night he got home. Dr. Burns said he was in pain before this and I see now what a HUGE difference this made. I can't recommend Dr. Burns enough. I was debating taking him to a dental specialist but am SO GLAD I didn't.  She is amazing. She is caring. She has cats herself. She loves dentistry. And most importantly she is amazingly skilled at her craft.  If you are thinking about taking your cat in please go to her. Request her specifically. Cats have dental problems too and your kitty could be in pain and you don't even know it. By the way she even sent me home with pre operative and post operative x rays of his mouth to show me what she did.  I LOVE THIS DR! Thank you so much! Read Less

Do your homework and make sure you get the right vet.  All positive reviews online are for Dr. Burns, but we unfortunately ended up with Kathryn Miller.  She did no do nearly as comprehensive exams as we've seen with other vets and seemed more interested in referring us to the specialty hospital that she came from.  It may be a good place, but not with the specific vet we had.  Staff is friendly but not outstanding or overly skilled.  Our dog was bleeding quite a bit from a simple vaccine shot as it wasn't done correctly.  The tech then asked us for recommendations for puppy training/socialization - I would have assumed that they would be the ones providing the recommendations not asking for them.... I have been in Gilbert for 9 years and used a variety of vet clinics and hospitals and am SO happy I found Priority Pet Hospital with Dr. Burns. I sought a new veterinarian as I was never happy with anyone I have used so far for my pets. Other vets always, always worked the up-sell, and charged outrageous prices. Not here! My dog was treated with only the medication needed, and not one second of an up-sell moment happened. THANK YOU FOR THAT!  I was able to get an appointment same day and treated so well! The office made several calls to check on my dog after the visit, to make sure he was doing well on the new medication.I HIGHLY recommend this pet hospital! :) Read Less

I called to schedule an appointment for my cat, they fit me in same day. Staff was awesome. I forgot the vets name who worked with me, maybe Burns?, but she did an awesome job. She gave me all my options and the pros/cons of each. I've heard horror stories of vets just telling you to go with the most expensive procedure even if that was not the best course of action. Not here. They didn't try to upsell me or do anything that even resembled shady business. I'd give more stars but 5 was my limit. Highly recommended!! If you are not already taking your pets to Dr. Burns, you need to start today.  I found Dr. Burns on Yelp, after my dog Emmett had been diagnosed by another vet with a "scratch on the cornea."  After returning to that particular vet, his eye was not healing, not to mention, the amount of money that we continued to spend.  Dr. Burns identified Emie's eye as having an Indolent Ulcer.  She performed a procedure on it, and after a couple weeks, it healed, good as new.  I have returned to her several times since and I have been very pleased not only with her, but her staff as well.  Emmett is an extremely anxious dog, but with Dr. Burns and the girls that work there, he seems very comfortable.  I also have another dog, a puggle named Lexie.  She too, will be visiting Priority Pet Hospital if she needs medical care.  These two dogs are my family and I trust the entire staff with their lives. We've had only one short but very meaningful experience with Priority Pet Hospital. On the night of New Years Eve we brought our 3-year-old pup dog in as he seemed very ill. There was practically no wait time and Dr. Burns was very prompt. After mentioning the symptoms I've witnessed over the past 8-12 hours and taking my pup's (Titan) temperature, Dr. Burns knew immediately she could not provide the necessary care Titan would need due to the holidays and possible severity of his condition. She referred me to the nearest emergency animal hospital and waived her office visit fee as she knew it was in the best interest of Titan. Dr. Burns and staff's sympathy, compassion and professionalism was admirable. Unfortunately, we had to euthanize Titan as his condition was too critical for recovery. Surprisingly, the following week we received a hand-written card from Dr. Burns and her staff expressing their condolences. I found this to be very touching as we were never a patient at her office. The professionalism, kindness, and true love for animals are reasons enough for us to return to Priority Pet Hospital once we adopt our new pup. My first experience with Priority Pet Hospital was at one of the most sad times of pet ownership.  Our 13 year old Shih-Tzu, Oscar, needed to be put to sleep.  Of course, it was not something I was looking forward to, but was dreading even more after several bad experiences in our past.  Just a few days before, I had been talking to a friend, who sadly had to lay her sweet Bella to rest just a few weeks prior, and she told me about Priority Pet Hospital and Dr. Burns.  She said they made the entire experience more bearable and she was right. We were greeted by the friendly staff and led into a private room.  Dr. Burns met us in the room and was incredibly compassionate.  Although emotional, the entire process was night and day to our past experiences.  They proceeded at a pace that was comfortable for us and said we could stay in the room with him as long as we needed to... even after he was gone.   I miss our sweet Oscar so incredibly much.  But I felt the process was very humane and I truly felt like these people cared and at such a heartbreaking time in our lives, that was most important.  They even followed up with a sympathy card where they took to time to hand-write a very sweet message.  I plan on making this our vet hospital of choice.  Our next visit should be a very happy one when we choose to welcome the next puppy into our home.  Thank you Priority Pet Hospital.  Your sympathy and compassion was very much felt and so very much appreciated!! Just over two weeks ago, Our America Eskimo gave birth to a litter of 2 puppies, and we brought mom and the pups in to Priority Per Hospital for a checkup the very next morning. The staff here are very friendly and professional. Dr. Burns was very knowledgable and helpful, and at no time did we feel rushed or otherwise uncomfortable during the visit. Unfortunately one of the puppies turned out to be a runt and didn't make it, and Dr. Burns comforted us by explaining that she could observe some things that suggested this little guy had some congenital defects. For the other pup, she explained how the worm life cycle meant that there was a risk she may have gotten it from her mom, due to the pregnancy and birthing process activating the dormant cysts she had. She administered deworming medication for the mom and gave some for us to give to the puppy at 2 and 4 weeks. She also gave us a lot of information to take home and read regarding caring for newborn puppies, which we appreciate. At the end of our visit, we were surprised by how inexpensive our bill was compared to the quality of care that we and our pets received. This morning, I brought just the newborn puppy in because only one of her eyes had opened by that point. Dr. Burns massaged the other eye open, gave her a brief examination with an ophthalmoscope and assured me that there was nothing wrong with her eyes. And finally, she then told me that this visit was free! I was really surprised by that and I again really appreciate how great the staff here at Priority Pet Hospital are! We will definitely be back for our pets health needs in the future! Read Less

After waiting 25 minutes for the doctor with two dogs one of which is a rescue dogs and was completely stressed being there. When I spoke to Dr. Burns about what happened with her assistant she argued with me and defended her employee.... not good! I have spent thousands of dollars in this vet with two animals that passed from cancer and pancreatitis, teeth cleaning, and routine exams and wellness. I have been a long term patient and it is unfortunate the Dr. Burns choose to defend her new assistance's behavior. It isn't always about the money its about what the patients owner can do and afford at the time. I will not be able to return to this vet and will look for another after all I still have three pets. Our family has been seeing Dr. Burns for about 3 years now.  We have a Great Dane who is quite medically complex.  Dr. Burns has been great!  She is patient, easy to get a hold of and always takes the time to educate us on disease process as well as lots of treatment options.  Her office is able to accommodate a big pup like our sweet girl.  We had to leave her with Dr. Burns one day for x-rays and were relieved to see that they have a large dog area where she could stay comfortably instead of being crammed into a crate.  The staff is also wonderful, always friendly, smiling and helpful.  They have even helped load up our pup in our car when she wasn't feeling well.  Dr. Burns has always been sensitive about cost associated to care and offers alternative options in treatment. We are happy we have found someone who puts the importance of our pets care as high as we do.  Priority Pet is more than an accurate name, it's reflective in the care that Dr. Burns and her staff provide. Read Less
