After having a very bad experience at a different vet the day before, we made an appointment at Val Vista Animal Hospital to have our new kitten checked out. The staff here is nothing short of AMAZING. We were greeted warmly and taken to a room immediately. They were just as great with our young son who was with us as they were with our kitten. We very recently moved to the area and needed a new vet for our pets so we are very happy to have found this one. We will not go anywhere else. We have always had a good experience here and all of the staff seem to really care about our animals. Every time we go in they remember my dog and greet her with smiles and cuddles.  We have pet insurance and they even bill it for us which saves me a lot of hassle, I just remind them upon checking out and paying the bill and then we are reimbursed by our insurance. My Shitzu Puppy was loved since the moment she walked in there. They known her parents & grandma from the owner that i bought her from also comes here to. I even got an ultrasound picture of her. On Dec 30th, 2016 at approx. 5:30pm, I brought my dog Luna (who had a history of violence) in to be euthanized. It was a horrible day before we arrived and was made worse when Dr. Jessica Pederson refused to do the service because Luna was While her decision angered & saddened me, its obvious she has a big heart and loves animals. Do I think shes probably a good person and Vet yes. Am I destroyed inside and angry about the result of her unprofessional decision? Absolutely. Marty was the technician who was present with us as well. On Jan 3rd, 2017, Luna had to be put down. The emptiness and sadness Im experiencing are immeasurable. The repeated visuals & flashbacks of the event are just horrible. I promise you, the euthanasia environment that we asked for and what Dr. Pederson denied us of was 100 times better than what occurred yesterday morning. This could have all been prevented when we came into Val Vista Animal Hospital for our scheduled appointment if the euthanasia had been completed by Dr. Pederson. Both Luna and our family suffered MORE because of Dr. Pederson's decision.Read Less

Benito was a regular.To make a long story short..I brought my benny in Wednesday. He was paralyzed. .overweight dachshund. .I brought him into the vet office, bottom line I brought him back to send him home..I cried..told him I'm sorry, and i told him he was a good boy...I paid for his cremation, I was a sured. I used this vet for my newest rescue dog I had adopted last year. Previously I had been using Banfield Pet Hospital located inside of Petsmart for my other dog and I was never ever really satisfied with them. I really liked the environment of Val Vista Animal Hospital far better than any other Banfield I've ever stepped foot in. They were extremely helpful and didn't feel the need to over charge me. Today was my first experience at the Val Vista Animal Hospital. It was also a very difficult visit because we knew something wasn't right with our dog. The Doctor and his assistant (Vet tech?) were kind and they were very cautious and empathetic toward us as we had to make a difficult decision. In fact, I think I even caught the doctor struggling not to shed a tear. That's the kind of Doctor I would want taking care of my pets. Want to say thank you for starting a life changing plan for our Ginger. She has had a complete turn around in just a few days eating running and back to almost normal. Her insulin shots and diet changes did her good now we'll start the medications for Cushings this week praying she still does well. We don't have insurance but they tried to work the best plan to her. It might have cost a bit but we're blessed to still have her. Thank you all. Every person we encountered in this practice treated us with so much care and compassion. Our 17 year old cat had to be put down and it was the hardest decision for my husband and I to make, but everyone from the girls at the front desk to the techs who checked on us and the doctor who administered the medication, we could feel their love for our pet and the sadness that this is where we were at. Despite seeing animals all day, the staff always seem excited to see each of my pets come in. They answer all of my naggy-pet-mom questions, and take care to not stress out my pets any more than nessecary for their health needs. They give good advice on care, but I don't get "dentists guilt" from them when my kitty is a little huskier than ideal, just kind recommendations. Val Vista Animal Hospital was the vet I used many many years ago when I lived in the area. (Back prior to 2005). I moved away and recently returned. I had a dog that had a major surgery at another facility (she had the surgery at a low cost clinic because it was cost prohibitive anywhere else, it's an hour away tho). So the surgery went well, we went back to get staples removed, and the hour away place missed 2 staples. In a panic I called VVAH, and they let me bring in my girl Annie, and took out the staples for me with no issues! Fast, friendly, and they still had me in their system back from 2005!I will totally resume using them for normal vet care. Read Less

After reading all of the terrible reviews it makes me want to share my experience as i see there is a common trend. I've taken my dogs here for 3 years. My one dog must've injured herself somehow and was limping so I figured I'd take her in for an xray. The xray was unremarkable and I felt like I knew more about the imaging than the doctor. Sorry, xray tech here. Eventually he suggested it could be valley fever. So he scared me. Of course I agreed to the tests. The panels came back negative.My dog quit limping after a while.She must've tweaked something again later on. We tested for valley fever again, xrays, etc. Nothing. And no explanation was ever offered! My dog still limps. Left the office, spent $550, and was not even given a guess as to what was wrong or a recommendation as to what I should do. The reason I am on yelp right now is to find a new vet but I decided to check out the reviews here first.The staff was always friendly and caring. The vet seemed very nice as well. This place is awesome.  We've had other pets there before and always liked the clinic, and now Dr. Keenan and the staff know Monet and they do anything to help her, including squeezing her in late on a Saturday.  Everyone is incredibly friendly, the really care about the animals, and we never felt anything but necessary treatment was ever proposed.  Highly recommended! My cat (who is 11 has had lots of issues over the years with allergies and on and off issues with her eyes. Dr. Longoni is, by far, the best vet I've ever taken my cat. No other vet has been able to diagnose her issues and help solve them. It had almost gotten to a point where my cat was so miserable, I thought there was no way to relieve her pain. Dr. Longoni spent a lot of time with me and was very gentle with my cat. Not only is Dr. Longoni an amazing vet, the staff is very friendly and professional. Went in there on a Tuesday night. Had an apt. for 7:30. They sat me in the waiting room for over an hour and then they charged me $113 for an ear infection. This is 3x as much as any other vet in phoenix would charge. This place is over-priced, under-staffed, and a waste of time. Read Less

I've used Val Vista Animal Hospital for both my own pets as an adult and as a teen with my family's dogs. Several years ago my family's Labrador had to have her leg amputated up to the hip. They did a clean, beautiful job- she healed with no complications, and quickly adjusted to life as a three legged dog! (She even chased down our chickens!) I also took my cat there for the majority of his life, always impressed with the gentleness and care they showed him. When my Boxer was hit by a car and passed away, I took him there to be cremated... the vet remembered him personally from our previous visits, and I could see they were (almost) as devastated as I was. It was very comforting to know he was in care of people who had known and cared about him. They (the vets, reception, and vet techs) are always kind, gentle with your pet, efficient, and willing to answer questions and give all the information you need. Its a very relaxed environment, which I liked. The vets don't rush or make you feel hurried- they talk to you and thoroughly explain what they're recommending and why. They also give you all the info you need on costs, different shot packages, etc. But they don't push procedures down your throat, or tell you something is an emergency unless it is! All in all, I recommend Val Vista Animal Hospital to my friends, I would take any future animals to this vet, and I have always had a positive experience! Read Less

I came here for the first time today. Previously, I have gone to Warner Vista Animal Hospital, but had such a poor experience last time that I will never go back.  While I did not get good news for my sick kitty today, I felt like the staff acted very caring towards her. We were ushered immediately into a room and were seen very quickly by the tech, then vet, Dr. Longoni. I felt like all of the testing, results, and treatment options were well explained to me and I was asked if I understood after everything. I have always had a great experiences here especially with Dr. Little. I've been coming here for 10 years {since we moved to the valley} Dr Little has always been very caring and understanding. She has always given us estimates of work that is needed and even gave us a list of what she would do first so we could better budget when our dog became ill. She seems to truly understand that our dog is a member of our family.I would also like to add that all of the support staff {office and techs}have also been very friendly and caring during our visits. I have always had a wonderful experience here at Val Vista Veterinary.  I have 5 rescue/adopted cats which are always in need of something. From scheduling with Kristin (even tho her mama spelled it wrong) to meeting with one of the very compassionate techs (Milo peed in the crate...) our tech helped clean him up and rinsed the crate as well... then off to the Dr"s.  I haven't seen them all, but the ones I have are briliant.  I have one cat who really needs some oral surgery but he's not been well enough to take it.  I have never been "urged", pushed or frightened into making a decision about my cats health.  I'm a bit offended reading some of the reviews here that claim the vets are fear mongoring.  No, they give you options and possible treatment plans in accordance wit the way your animal is behaving. If one reccomends an x-ray its because its the best way to determine the next steps. We never try to medicate our children unnecessarily... Why would you do it to your animal baby?  MANY vets out there are not interested in your animals... Val Vista Veterinary show they care by calling and checking in to see how your pets are doing after a procedure, not even my own Dr. does that! Keep up the wonderful work! Once we were in our house we went directly over to Val Vista to have him checked out. They were amazing! I will not recommend this vet. It is here to take your money. There are worse veterinary clinics than this one such as Arizona Veterinary Specialists. Their prices are lower. However when your vet needs emergency, one of ours did, you expect Your vet to take over when they are open. This is especially true, when the emergency vet (AVS) is charging thousands of dollars just for an IV drip and specialized (Level X) care. This care happens to be a metal fence in a backroom. Think carefully before you use them. I'd suggest using low cost vet and making sure that you keep animals healthy by regular dental cleaning and shots. Read Less

TURNED AWAY MY INJURED DOG WHO WAS VISIBLY BLEEDING AT 5:40 PM BECAUSE IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO CLOSING TIME!!  I walked in with my bleeding dog in hand at approximately 5:40 and was told by a young girl at the front desk hat she did not know if they would see my dog since it was so close to closing time; but before she walked away she mentioned that if they did see my dog there would be an emergency fee attached to the service.  Not one did she ask about the well being of my animal or why she was bleeding from her chest!  I let her know that I could care less about the money (I was not in my usual work attire so I am sure they thought the could deter me by saying it was going to be expensive!)  About a minute later someone else came out and said that it was best to take my dog to the animal hospital because she may need surgery. . . . Not once did she look at my dog, assess the would, or care long enough to hear what happened to her. . . Keep in mind at this point my hands are covered in my dog's blood.  She came out to tell me to take her somewhere else we all want to go home even though the sign on the door says we are open tip 6 PM.  I mentioned that I knew she was brushing me off that what she was doing was wrong (another patron in the waiting room was shaking her head in agreement with me when this happened) and walked out of the clinic to rush my dog to the emergency room.  At the hospital the wound was washed and it was clear that it was superficial and nothing to worry about; no x ray needed, no surgery,  nothing out of the ordinary; any vet could have determined that.   I am strongly encouraging all of my neighbors in Sonoma Ranch to not use this clinic; no compassion at all and not to mention terrible business ethics.  What if my dog didn't have 15 extra minutes to live?  I brought her there since it was closest and like any parent we love and worry about these animals.  This experience was so strong that I started this account and will continue to send my story to any media that will listen in an attempt to influence change. . . . .
