STAY AWAY!!!!! These people don't care about your pet...they are only looking at you with dollar signs!! Bought into one of their insurance plans. If you go to use the visits, they make you wait over ...
STAY AWAY!!!!! These people don't care about your pet...they are only looking at you with dollar signs!! Bought into one of their insurance plans. If you go to use the visits, they make you wait over 1/2 hour in the examine room before they come in. They nickle and dime you for everything along the way that the very expensive plan does not cover. Don't even think about letting a "Tech" take your pet in the back out of your site. I made that mistake and the untrained so called "tech" was not able to do the procedure on my cat...listed my cat as "aggressive" in their system and when I got my cat home, took her out of the carrier I was in shock! My cat had clumps of hair hanging from her neck and the bottom of the carrier was covered with additional clumps of hair. She was traumatized from the "manhandling" that went on out of my site and hide for the rest of the day.
DO NOT GO HERE..too many other places in the area that care about your pet...they DO NOT show any compassion towards your pet at all...it's all about money to them...GREED should be their motto!!!!

I have taken all of my pets to this office over the years. Everyone is always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They always remember my dog's name and take extra care to make sure he feels comfortable at the vet. My dog actually looks forward to going to the vet because he knows how nice they are and that he gets treats! The office is very clean and they really will take care of your animal. This office is actually very out of the way for me because I live in Scottsdale now, but I make the drive out here because I love them so much!

I give them a fair because I saw no signs of abuse. And in human medicical care I learned, the 1st rule is do no harm. Just short of abuse, lack of knowledge, concern, continuity? However the communication is very bad. From the appointment setting, thru the appointment. I asked questions, the appt setter told me things that at the appt obviously couldn:t or wouldn't be done. I know they were and are very busy, but pets/patients should suffer because of it, or pet parents. t seems all along the way no one noted anything in the computer that was discussed. The right hand didn't and doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Therefore, poor communication, extremely long time to repeat issues and recall discussions over and over. Brings to mind the expression, " the hurirader I go, the behinder I get!" DO NO HARM, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!

Coming from a customer that has been there for more than a decade to pets and I'm sad to say we're done with this place they still haven't figured out what customer service is and my bust for being with Alta Mesa for so long and giving him so many chances to correct that problem for anyone who goes there continued luck sad thing is they treated me like a first date customer they could care less if I was unhappy with their service and they did nothing to correct or try to change the situation that's really sad when you have that much tenure and they could care less. I find it funny that they are ill-equipped to handle any complaints and I was told to take my complaint to a national level, laughable that they are incapable of handling anything in the house

I've been bringing Boo to Alta Mesa since moving to Mesa 4 years ago and even though I have moved to Gilbert, this is her vet and we will drive no matter how far!

Dr. Shaird is the absolute best. Takes time to love on her patients (even lays on the floor to rub bellies). She doesn't discriminate based on breed. She isn't pushing for costly and unnecessary tests...
Dr. Shaird is the absolute best. Takes time to love on her patients (even lays on the floor to rub bellies). She doesn't discriminate based on breed. She isn't pushing for costly and unnecessary tests. She has treated everything from an ear infection to stress disorder in my Shepherd. The staff knows my dogs by name and always are super friendly. I will always be a loyal client as long as Dr Shaird is on staff. The last minute appointment availability is awesome too! They will always try to fit you in. Plus their price is not ridiculous.

Best Vet I have ever found!! Every vet I had taken My 2 labs Phoenix & Kiwi.. they would be all excited until I hit the door & they pull back & be scared & try to jump back into my truck.. I had hard time finding the right vet to make them feel safe... my husband brought our 2 labs in for shots & check up at Alta & I asked if they walked into the office or did they pull back! He said they walked in all happy & not at all scared!! No pulling back or trying to run away!! They jumped on the table for there check up with there tail wagging! Every time we come in for there updates on shots.. they can't get in the door fast enough.. there prices are reasonable!! They take care of my labs like nobody has!!

SHIFTY AND UNSCRUPULOUS! After examining my dog, this place quoted me almost $800 to pull 1 tooth. When I decided to go for a 2nd opinion, Anderson Animal Clinic quoted me a fourth of the price and said pulling the tooth might not be necessary. Sure enough, the tooth was fine and DID NOT need to be pulled. In short, the scam artists at Alta Mesa Animal Hospital were willing to perform surgery on my dog just to make a buck. AVOID THESE LIARS!

The whole staff was wonderful. Not only did they talk me through every question and concern, they stayed in past their usual hours to accommodate the time me and my pet could make it in and did absolutely everything they could to help educate me and help me make decisions that were right for my pet. Ultimately tragedy struck and I lost my little Mikey but Alta Mesa was there for me even as I grieved by sending me a wonderfully thoughtful card with a message from the vet that had treated him. They truly do treat you in a way that makes you feel like family. Thank you to everyone there from the wonderful lady who checked us in and answered my panicked calls, to the vet nurses and vet herself that helped us through the whole ordeal. You guys are appreciated. <3

My cat died. I later figured out she had the feline equivalent of parvo. This hospital never gave her a diagnosis. She was starving and dehydrating and they just sent me home with a plastic cylind...
My cat died. I later figured out she had the feline equivalent of parvo. This hospital never gave her a diagnosis. She was starving and dehydrating and they just sent me home with a plastic cylinder to try and force feed her. That was $300. per visit. Two visits later, she was still failing and suffering and I brought her back and for another $100. they put her down. With parvo in dogs they can save them, as they can for cats. The people at this hospital didn't give a shit. I'd brought her 3,000 miles with me only to have no other choice than to put her down. They didn't care about her life. Please be smart and bring your sick animals somewhere else.

Had older dog I took in with a lump on his neck they did blood work and unfortunately he had cancer. Every single person in that office was so kind and loving to me and my dog. I never had a pet pass away and had no idea how devastating it was going to be to me and my family. They cared for my dog till the end and were kind enough to send a card and check on me which I totally appreciate. We now have a new puppy named Zero I wouldn't take him any place other then Alta Mesa we love them.

My wishes mattered and I was a partner in my pets recovery. There is nothing I would change about the practice of medicine, nor the thoughtful pet bedside manner of Dr. Fornara. If you are searching for an intelligent and understanding DVM, look no further.

We love Dr. Swisher, she is kind and caring. But the wait time is horrible. There are no chairs in the waiting room (just benches against the wall) and you are unable to sit there for very long, especially when you have back pain like I do.
My last appointment was on time so I have increased my rating to 4.
When they told me Dr. Swisher left I was concerned having a new vet and needing to spay our dog. However, the appointment and surgery went smooth and Dr. Fornara was very kind. Thank you. 5

Took my sick dog there Saturday. She has been going there her whole life. Not eating or drinking. They took blood and She had a fever. Sent me home with no medications. They said it was probably valley fever and she would be fine. Called me Monday to bring my dog back becuase I was told they didnt draw enough blood. Dog died Tuesday. She was only 7 years old. Called and told them. Went there to drop her off for cremation. Doctor told me the lab didnt pick up all the blood. They then told my mother in law they gave it to the lab and they did something to it......They then told my wife she could have gone to the animal ER but would of been expensive so they did not recommended it. I don't think that should have been their choice. The doctor made it sound like she was going to be ok.......now I am out a very loyal and best friend and my 3 year olds favorite dog because a thorough examine was not conducted. Of Dr. Pat or Dr. Swisher were their I believe the outcome would be different

When I called to make an appointment, I was kind of panicked about my dog, Rico having eaten plastic. Right from the beginning on the phone, the staff was friendly and concerned, yet professional. When we got there, we were shown into the patient room, where the Vet Tech helped calm Rico down and had him ready for the doctor in no time. The Doctor was there to check him out right away. Everyone was very professional, yet friendly and put me at ease. I would and have recommended Alta Mesa Animal Hospital to friends and family.

STAY AWAY!!!!! These people don't care about your pet...they are only looking at you with dollar signs!! Bought into one of their insurance plans. If you go to use the visits, they make you wait over 1/2 hour in the examine room before they come in. SHIFTY AND UNSCRUPULOUS! After examining my dog, this place quoted me almost $800 to pull 1 tooth. When I decided to go for a 2nd opinion, Anderson Animal Clinic quoted me a fourth of the price and said pulling the tooth might not be necessary. Sure enough, the tooth was fine and DID NOT need to be pulled. In short, the scam artists at Alta Mesa Animal Hospital were willing to perform surgery on my dog just to make a buck. AVOID THESE LIARS!

Nice, very nice. Great service for me and my little pup. They quickly found the cause of the little guys trouble a formated a quick plan to help with pain.
Yeah I plan to return for his follow up.

The whole staff was wonderful. Not only did they talk me through every question and concern, they stayed in past their usual hours to accommodate the time me and my pet could make it in and did absolutely everything they could to help educate me and help me make decisions that were right for my pet. Ultimately tragedy struck and I lost my little Mikey but Alta Mesa was there for me even as I grieved by sending me a wonderfully thoughtful card with a message from the vet that had treated him. They truly do treat you in a way that makes you feel like family. Thank you to everyone there from the wonderful lady who checked us in and answered my panicked calls, to the vet nurses and vet herself that helped us through the whole ordeal. You guys are appreciated. <3

My cat died. I later figured out she had the feline equivalent of parvo. This hospital never gave her a diagnosis. She was starving and dehydrating and they just sent me home with a plastic cylind...
My cat died. I later figured out she had the feline equivalent of parvo. This hospital never gave her a diagnosis. She was starving and dehydrating and they just sent me home with a plastic cylinder to try and force feed her. That was $300. per visit. Two visits later, she was still failing and suffering and I brought her back and for another $100. they put her down. With parvo in dogs they can save them, as they can for cats. The people at this hospital didn't give a shit. I'd brought her 3,000 miles with me only to have no other choice than to put her down. They didn't care about her life. Please be smart and bring your sick animals somewhere else.

Had older dog I took in with a lump on his neck they did blood work and unfortunately he had cancer. Every single person in that office was so kind and loving to me and my dog. I never had a pet pass away and had no idea how devastating it was going to be to me and my family. They cared for my dog till the end and were kind enough to send a card and check on me which I totally appreciate. We now have a new puppy named Zero I wouldn't take him any place other then Alta Mesa we love them.

Change can be terrifying and with a sick fur baby in tow it can be all the more worrisome but when Dr. Fornara came to Alta Mesa my ill kitty was treated with exemplary medicine and a truly compassionate touch. My wishes mattered and I was a partner in my pets recovery. There is nothing I would change about the practice of medicine, nor the thoughtful pet bedside manner of Dr. Fornara. If you are searching for an intelligent and understanding DVM, look no further.

We love Dr. Swisher, she is kind and caring. But the wait time is horrible. There are no chairs in the waiting room (just benches against the wall) and you are unable to sit there for very long, especially when you have back pain like I do.
My last appointment was on time so I have increased my rating to 4.
When they told me Dr. Swisher left I was concerned having a new vet and needing to spay our dog. However, the appointment and surgery went smooth and Dr. Fornara was very kind. Thank you. 5

Took my sick dog there Saturday. She has been going there her whole life. Not eating or drinking. They took blood and She had a fever. Sent me home with no medications. They said it was probably valley fever and she would be fine. Called me Monday to bring my dog back becuase I was told they didnt draw enough blood. Dog died Tuesday. She was only 7 years old. Called and told them. Went there to drop her off for cremation. Doctor told me the lab didnt pick up all the blood. They then told my mother in law they gave it to the lab and they did something to it......They then told my wife she could have gone to the animal ER but would of been expensive so they did not recommended it. I don't think that should have been their choice. The doctor made it sound like she was going to be ok.......now I am out a very loyal and best friend and my 3 year olds favorite dog because a thorough examine was not conducted. Of Dr. Pat or Dr. Swisher were their I believe the outcome would be different

When I called to make an appointment, I was kind of panicked about my dog, Rico having eaten plastic. Right from the beginning on the phone, the staff was friendly and concerned, yet professional. When we got there, we were shown into the patient room, where the Vet Tech helped calm Rico down and had him ready for the doctor in no time. The Doctor was there to check him out right away. Everyone was very professional, yet friendly and put me at ease. I would and have recommended Alta Mesa Animal Hospital to friends and family.
