I took my parakeet as he was having an issue with his leg. He’s over the age of 10 and was diagnosed with a tumor. Unfortunately, we had to let him cross the Rainbow Bridge. The staff was amazing, highly competent, empathetic and incredibly kind. The costs are a bit high and for many may ultimately require the bird or animal to suffer a painful passing as they would not have funds required to put their animal down peacefully. Outside of that, the hospital is clean, comfortable and welcoming.

Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital is a place where any animal can be seen, domestic to exotic. The staff at the hospital are well versed on every type of animal. They are equipped to house animals if they need to be housed, do surgeries of any kind and much more. This is the best exotic animal hospital in the state of Arizona. I like how my animals and I are treated there. You will never be disappointed by any of the staff.

I take my two pet rabbits to see Dr. Lamb in their North Phoenix, and she is amazing. she knows an incredible amount about rabbits and other small pets. She probably knows even more about birds. She has always been very thorough in her examinations and always clearly explained what she was looking for and how they are doing. Both of them have had some issues with their back teeth growing unevenly because of some misalignment. She has put them under anesthesia and filed their teeth with excellent results. (Unfortunately, you can't get them to just say ahhh or put braces on them.) The vet techs in that office are also very good. I can't really comment on the other vets there or their other office.

I've taken my rats here several times and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Starks saw my rat who needed stitches last minute on a Sunday and was very nice. Dr. B (sorry, I'm not going to try to spell her last name) has done surgery on a couple different rats of mine and is very knowledgeable. The front desk staff is amazing! Sara helped me out so much when my Male rat had a bad abscess. Will definitely use them for all my exotic needs.

Waited just over an hour to get taken to a room. Nurse came in a few minutes later and was very nice. Then waited for another 20 minutes and still no vet. I said I have to leave to go yo work in 10 minutes, and was informed by the nurse that the vet still had two discharges to complete. She wanted to know if we wanted to reschedule. No, I drove an hour to sit and wait another hour and a half without seeing a vet. I will never go back to that place.

I totally love these guys. Dr Lamb is my primary "go to" DVM, as I am owned by many special needs birds with complex problems, and she is consistently wise and compassionate in her guidance. She has also been great with my Blue Tongue Skink and baby desert tortoise. I have had excellent experiences with other vets there as well.

Such a great experience! The staff was friendly and inviting. We are new to owning replies and didn't know a lot, but the staff was still very good at client education. I am a vet tech for cats and dogs so I know the importance of client education, and the staff did a very great job in that aspect. The wait time was a little extensive, but having an appointment on a Sunday, it was to be expected. The doctors and techs were knowledgeable and professional, and the reception was friendly. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anybody with a sick or healthy reptile friend.

Our experience was excellent and we appreciated the professionalism and compassion from all staff involved. People with exotic pets should expect to make hard decisions that may cost more money than they want to spend, but complaining about the results of their own decisions and not getting free miracles is irresponsible, and also unfair to the provider. The doctor's advice and prescribed medicine wasn't free or cheap, but it saved our snake's life and we are grateful.

I have taken our pets to Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital for years (too many to count). My daughter takes her rabbits to them also. I have pet rats, but we have had hamsters, rabbits, and a ferret. I know that when my pet is there they are getting the best care and I don't worry about them. All the people that work there are the best! They are compassionate and realize that these pets are our family members and treat them as such. I could go on and on but I won't. I am so very grateful for them and am able to have my "exotic" pets because they are here.

I've never even been to a human hospital that treat their patients with this much care! I took my hedgehog here when she was sick. The staff really put me at ease with their expertise and genuine care for her! They take your concerns seriously and follow up to make sure your pet is doing ok even after treatment. They always seem to be very upfront with their costs and estimates as well.

Been here a number of times for my guinea pigs which I rescued from petco. When I first got them Charlie had an URI and they gave him medicine and he got better. Then, our poor Oreo fell and broke his leg, and they preformed the amputation surgery smoothly and Oreo was up and running around the next day!
Whenever we go in, they greet our animals by name and are extremely nice.
Will be returning if I have any health problems with my snake.

I brought my Guinea Pig Bella to this place when she was 3 years of age back in 2013 because she had her teeth ingrown and they did a nice job on her little teeth filing procedure. They saw her and took care of her and gave me and my family advice on things we needed to know about and they helped us until Bella passed away at the age of 6. I now have beautiful memories and a paw print to remember my little Bella. Such a warm environment and they did a wonderful job.

I was told a lower price and it ended up being a lot higher than what they told me. As for care, my experience was not bad and the vet tech was really cool. As for reasonable prices, better luck somewhere else.

Amazing people, especially Dr. Bjornebo! I've been there quite a bit this year between Snowball and his eye problems, Roxy for her check up, Froggy with MBD, and Rocky for recurring URI (and now pneumonia). You guys are the only ones I trust with my babies. Everyone is so helpful with answering questions and scheduling appointments. For example, today I called at 4:30pm and was able to get a 5:30pm appointment for Rocky because he was having severe breathing issues. He is now there overnight, and while I am nervous to leave his side I know you guys will do what is best for my little guy. Everyone is so good at making me feel like I am making the right decisions and offer realistic input. Thank you for all you do for the animals and people!

These guys are amazing! My bearded dragon ate a rock, and was not passing it. After some searching, I found these guys. The receptionist was friendly and wonderful to talk to. She was also empathetic (which is hard to find). Dr. Starks was very knowledgeable and handled my little guy with care. Which was more than another vet (not to be named, from the Prescott area) who was very rough and left our guy gaping for air on the exam table like he was going to have a heart-attack. We have a plan, and are keeping our fingers crossed :) I would recommend AZ Exotic Animal Hospital to anyone in my area looking for an exotic vet. It's a two hour drive, but so worth it!

Its insane how much money you will spend to help a sick pet if you are told it is going to help. Don't make the same mistake we did & spend tons of money on blood tests that, only lead to no results. Maybe they are better with other pets but when it comes to ferrets theses guys are a joke with a hefty price tag. If your ferret is old & sick, don't waste money, time, & emotions trying to extend their life, they are not humans & looking back all we did was put them through more misery & give this place our hard earned money.

I'd like to thank the folks at the Phoenix location, specifically Dr. Starks, the receptionist Mckensie and a nurse whose name I did not catch. I brought in a very weak mini Rex bunny (6-8wks) whom I found limp this afternoon four days after my 7yr old daughter and I brought her home. The staff very quickly recognized she was not doing well and immediately took her back to help. Unfortunately our sweet bunny did not make it. My heart weighs heavily as I prepare to explain to my daughter that the sweet little bunny, whom had not yet received her name, is no longer with us. I commend the compassion the staff showed me as I unexpectedly lost control of my emotions and broke down. God Bless you Dr. Starks for taking the extra time to offer an explanation for her untimely passing and for giving your opinion, expertise, and resources for rabbits in the valley.

Took our rat, Tucker, in on Saturday, spent more time in the waiting room than we did in the examination room. Got charged $200 only to return less than 2 days later, shove out another $800 and leave him over night at their facility. He died alone over night and it took us calling them to get the news. When we were saying goodbye to him they kept pushing payment payment payment despite us setting up a payment plan the night before. They literally slid the estimate on the table next to his body and said "whenever you're ready" This is not the first experience we've had with this veterinary clinic (in fact in the last 6 months we've taken 4 of our rats in-- only to have two of them pass despite extensive effort on our part to give them a chance.) If you are looking for a so-called "exotic specialty" vet clinic with a 50% mortality rate and who will always remind you that compassion comes with a hefty price tag (at least $1,000 a pop!) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

I would like to say that this is a great vet and I trust them with my pets. I feel they know what they are doing and they charge a regular expected amount for a vet, but they also offer ways to save money. They accept Care Credit as well. I've been going here since 2010 and I don't ever want to go anywhere else. Also, I think the staff and doctors are very kind and gentle. I would recommend this vet to anyone.

They are equipped to house animals if they need to be housed, do surgeries of any kind and much more. This is the best exotic animal hospital in the state of Arizona. I like how my animals and I are treated there. You will never be disappointed by any of the staff.

I take my two pet rabbits to see Dr. Lamb in their North Phoenix, and she is amazing. she knows an incredible amount about rabbits and other small pets. She probably knows even more about birds. She has always been very thorough in her examinations and always clearly explained what she was looking for and how they are doing. Both of them have had some issues with their back teeth growing unevenly because of some misalignment. She has put them under anesthesia and filed their teeth with excellent results. (Unfortunately, you can't get them to just say ahhh or put braces on them.) The vet techs in that office are also very good. I can't really comment on the other vets there or their other office.

I've taken my rats here several times and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Starks saw my rat who needed stitches last minute on a Sunday and was very nice. Dr. B (sorry, I'm not going to try to spell her last name) has done surgery on a couple different rats of mine and is very knowledgeable. The front desk staff is amazing! Sara helped me out so much when my Male rat had a bad abscess. Will definitely use them for all my exotic needs.

Waited just over an hour to get taken to a room. Nurse came in a few minutes later and was very nice. Then waited for another 20 minutes and still no vet. I said I have to leave to go yo work in 10 minutes, and was informed by the nurse that the vet still had two discharges to complete. She wanted to know if we wanted to reschedule. No, I drove an hour to sit and wait another hour and a half without seeing a vet. I will never go back to that place.

I totally love these guys. Dr Lamb is my primary "go to" DVM, as I am owned by many special needs birds with complex problems, and she is consistently wise and compassionate in her guidance. She has also been great with my Blue Tongue Skink and baby desert tortoise. I have had excellent experiences with other vets there as well.

Such a great experience! The staff was friendly and inviting. We are new to owning replies and didn't know a lot, but the staff was still very good at client education. I am a vet tech for cats and dogs so I know the importance of client education, and the staff did a very great job in that aspect. The wait time was a little extensive, but having an appointment on a Sunday, it was to be expected. The doctors and techs were knowledgeable and professional, and the reception was friendly. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anybody with a sick or healthy reptile friend.

Our experience was excellent and we appreciated the professionalism and compassion from all staff involved. People with exotic pets should expect to make hard decisions that may cost more money than they want to spend, but complaining about the results of their own decisions and not getting free miracles is irresponsible, and also unfair to the provider. The doctor's advice and prescribed medicine wasn't free or cheap, but it saved our snake's life and we are grateful.

I have taken our pets to Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital for years (too many to count). My daughter takes her rabbits to them also. I have pet rats, but we have had hamsters, rabbits, and a ferret. I know that when my pet is there they are getting the best care and I don't worry about them. All the people that work there are the best! They are compassionate and realize that these pets are our family members and treat them as such. I could go on and on but I won't. I am so very grateful for them and am able to have my "exotic" pets because they are here.

The staff really put me at ease with their expertise and genuine care for her! They take your concerns seriously and follow up to make sure your pet is doing ok even after treatment. They always seem to be very upfront with their costs and estimates as well.

Been here a number of times for my guinea pigs which I rescued from petco. When I first got them Charlie had an URI and they gave him medicine and he got better. Then, our poor Oreo fell and broke his leg, and they preformed the amputation surgery smoothly and Oreo was up and running around the next day!
Whenever we go in, they greet our animals by name and are extremely nice.
Will be returning if I have any health problems with my snake.

Really nice and caring staff. Our rabbit has seen them for years and they been nothing but professional.
It can be a bit expensive but that's kind of the norm for exotic pets.

I brought my Guinea Pig Bella to this place when she was 3 years of age back in 2013 because she had her teeth ingrown and they did a nice job on her little teeth filing procedure. They saw her and took care of her and gave me and my family advice on things we needed to know about and they helped us until Bella passed away at the age of 6. I now have beautiful memories and a paw print to remember my little Bella. Such a warm environment and they did a wonderful job.

I was told a lower price and it ended up being a lot higher than what they told me. As for care, my experience was not bad and the vet tech was really cool. As for reasonable prices, better luck somewhere else.

I highly recommend them ! The team there are genuine in their care for your pets and always follow up after you leave

Amazing people, especially Dr. Bjornebo! I've been there quite a bit this year between Snowball and his eye problems, Roxy for her check up, Froggy with MBD, and Rocky for recurring URI (and now pneumonia). You guys are the only ones I trust with my babies. Everyone is so helpful with answering questions and scheduling appointments. For example, today I called at 4:30pm and was able to get a 5:30pm appointment for Rocky because he was having severe breathing issues. He is now there overnight, and while I am nervous to leave his side I know you guys will do what is best for my little guy. Everyone is so good at making me feel like I am making the right decisions and offer realistic input. Thank you for all you do for the animals and people!

These guys are amazing! My bearded dragon ate a rock, and was not passing it. After some searching, I found these guys. The receptionist was friendly and wonderful to talk to. She was also empathetic (which is hard to find). Dr. Starks was very knowledgeable and handled my little guy with care. Which was more than another vet (not to be named, from the Prescott area) who was very rough and left our guy gaping for air on the exam table like he was going to have a heart-attack. We have a plan, and are keeping our fingers crossed :) I would recommend AZ Exotic Animal Hospital to anyone in my area looking for an exotic vet. It's a two hour drive, but so worth it!

Had to bring all of our sick 6 ferrets here for insulinoma & adrenal disease tests & medicine. There prices are beyond ridiculous & they never end up fixing anything. Its insane how much money you will spend to help a sick pet if you are told it is going to help. Don't make the same mistake we did & spend tons of money on blood tests that, only lead to no results. Maybe they are better with other pets but when it comes to ferrets theses guys are a joke with a hefty price tag. If your ferret is old & sick, don't waste money, time, & emotions trying to extend their life, they are not humans & looking back all we did was put them through more misery & give this place our hard earned money.

I'd like to thank the folks at the Phoenix location, specifically Dr. Starks, the receptionist Mckensie and a nurse whose name I did not catch. I brought in a very weak mini Rex bunny (6-8wks) whom I found limp this afternoon four days after my 7yr old daughter and I brought her home. The staff very quickly recognized she was not doing well and immediately took her back to help. Unfortunately our sweet bunny did not make it. My heart weighs heavily as I prepare to explain to my daughter that the sweet little bunny, whom had not yet received her name, is no longer with us. I commend the compassion the staff showed me as I unexpectedly lost control of my emotions and broke down. God Bless you Dr. Starks for taking the extra time to offer an explanation for her untimely passing and for giving your opinion, expertise, and resources for rabbits in the valley.

Took our rat, Tucker, in on Saturday, spent more time in the waiting room than we did in the examination room. Got charged $200 only to return less than 2 days later, shove out another $800 and leave him over night at their facility. He died alone over night and it took us calling them to get the news. When we were saying goodbye to him they kept pushing payment payment payment despite us setting up a payment plan the night before. They literally slid the estimate on the table next to his body and said "whenever you're ready" This is not the first experience we've had with this veterinary clinic (in fact in the last 6 months we've taken 4 of our rats in-- only to have two of them pass despite extensive effort on our part to give them a chance.) If you are looking for a so-called "exotic specialty" vet clinic with a 50% mortality rate and who will always remind you that compassion comes with a hefty price tag (at least $1,000 a pop!) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

I would like to say that this is a great vet and I trust them with my pets. I feel they know what they are doing and they charge a regular expected amount for a vet, but they also offer ways to save money. They accept Care Credit as well. I've been going here since 2010 and I don't ever want to go anywhere else. Also, I think the staff and doctors are very kind and gentle. I would recommend this vet to anyone.

I can not in good conscience recommend or refer anyone to this veterinarian or his facility. apparently his ultra high status in the profession has made him forget what is really important, the medical side of sick and needy homeless pets. also apparently his office staff is geared to making the appointments and collecting the high priced service fees from upper class clients who can afford it.
