I wanted to take a moment to say Thank you to the Dr. and wonderful staff at Bark Avenue. I had to make a tough decision to put my dog of 18 years to sleep. It was a rough day but the staff made it much easier. They have a special room decorated like a living room. The sweet nurse, doctor and I all sat on floor with my sweet old dog. There was no rush and they were so kind. I had contemplated having it done in my home but opted this route. I take my other 2 dogs here so I knew it was a special group of people. As awful as the day was I knew I had made the best decision for my fragile dog. Today, I recieved a card from the office. I’m picky with Vets because I love my pets. I love Bark Avenue! They’ve did great with my cat’s dental surgery. My dog hasn’t needed much done (just the occasional sickness) but they do a good job of trimming his nails when no one else can. Read Less

I have been taking my ShihTzu to Bark Avenue Hospital since we got him as a puppy. I like it because the waiting room is not over filled with pets. They get you in on time! My dog is never stressed there. His annual vaccinations never seem to bother him. The staff are very caring and gentle. We also like the Bark Ave Pet Supplies. It is a Whole Foods for pets. We brought our Frenchie here because this is where the breeder had originally brought them. To make it easier, we just continued to bring our puppy there. We have had interaction with 3 different Vets and have appreciated everyone of them as well as the vet techs! Everyone is so friendly and very good about communicating. I've never been to a vet clinic that didn't call to follow up on my pet, especially when sick. They delayed faxing pain prescription by 2 days, prescribed Trazodone which emergency clinic said shouldn't be given to cats. Called to bring my cat in after seeing vet one week prior, as she was getting worse. I was told Dr Carson works 3 days per week and wouldn't be in for 5 days and that I should take my cat to 1st Pet Emergency Clinic if she wasn't better in 2 days. Front desk staff don't seem to be clinic trained, usual gal acts bored, and uninterested in her job. No warmth. Didn't seem to care when I went there and said my cat had died. Just another day for her. Will never go back, though recommended by my daughter. Vet at 1st Pet Emergency immediately felt stomach tumor and confirmed with an ultrasound. From the front desk to the doctors, it's a dog-lovin' atmosphere! They are kind and loving. We have been to other vets where my dog greatly resisted...but at Bark Avenue, she runs right in, jumps on the big scale, and is ready to be shown to her quarters for her exam and a liver treat! Read Less

The staff at Bark Avenue has been great. My boxer has valley fever and from the moment we took him in, they have been so attentive, even calling me back to check up on how he is doing. Last week, during a follow up appointment, he had a seizure. The doctor and four staff members rushed into the room and took care of him. They even carried him to my car after administering drugs to calm him down. I'm very impressed with the staff and they always provide a written estimate before doing a procedure. what was one of my worst days, was eased by the staff at Bark Ave Animal Hospital. My dog took a bad turn in health and I had to rush him to the hospital, I called when I was on my way and three of the staff met me outside to help me carry him inside. they were so carrying, they took us into a quiet room away from everyone and let me spend time with him to say my goodbyes. he was the best dog and family member ever but with their help he transitioned and is now resting from all the pain that he was suffering. Incredible staff. So compassionate and kind. We had to say goodbye to our beagle, Beau in January of 2015 and they did a wonderful job of calmly explaining to us what was going on with him (he had advanced cancer in his stomach, spleen and liver) and then gently explained the options we had available. Dr. Heffelman was very honest with me and explained that chemo probably wouldn't help the situation and was very compassionate and reassuring when I finally made the decision to say goodbye to my long-time buddy. The entire staff is friendly and professional and I have found that their pricing is often far less than I was used to paying at the vet we had been going to in Tempe. They also do a great job of explaining different treatment options and the associated costs- something I wasn't used to from that same vet in Tempe. I would recommend them to everyone.Read Less

We have been going to Bark Avenue for some time with several different pets. Most recently, we had to say goodbye to our sweet cat Madison. Thanks to Dr Orr, we got a proper diagnosis and even though the outcome was not good, the care and compassion of everyone at Bark Avenue helped us through a difficult time. The staff and facilities are great! I was recommended to come here even though I live thirty minutes away. It has been worth the drive! I was given a fair price for the surgery my dog needed just recently. I like that the facilities are super clean and I never wait a second to get in the exam room. Dr. Heffelman had been very good with my dog throughout the process and the staff always greets me and my dog by name upon arrival. No question is a stupid question here as well and they all do a good job with easing concerns you may have. I am never going to Pet Smart for veterinary services again! Read Less

I love Bark Ave and Dr Orr and all of the staff. Recently I put my two 12 yr old labs to sleep because they were having a very hard time getting up and we're getting worse. It was very had to do this...:( however the staff was so caring and respectful and listened to my requests. The whole experience was peaceful and loving, and my two babies crossed over the rainbow bridge together. I used to love this clinic but due to recent staff changes I will no longer use this clinic. They should have known what a great thing they had.... In this economy you would think the owners would want to stand out and be known for their amazing staff and service. Now they are just an average clinic....with average veterinarian service.... I boarded my 3 large dogs for just over a week. When we are gone for this long, I look for a place that will do more than let them out once a day and feed them - otherwise, I can expect behavioral problems for the next week or two when we return home. Bark Ave. certainly went the extra mile! When I called to ask about reservations, I was invited to tour the facility. I did take the tour that day and was impressed with what I saw. Everything was clean. There is a large fenced grassy area for lots of running, which is essential for my dogs. They do not have group play time with other dogs - that is hard to find and exactly what I wanted. All three were able to stay in the same suite, which included extra playtime outside. I had my collie groomed before we picked them up. They did an exceptional job - she looked gorgeous! I was very happy with their care. After reading a review I just MUST say something about this fantastic pet resort - not only are the grass areas as big as some dog parks that I have been to - my dogs love the pool when it is hot. I have been going to Bark Ave. for years and would NEVER consider going anywhere else. The people are great they all love my dogs and my dogs love them. I have small dogs and they are not always comfortable around new people but they all love going to Bark Ave. Another plus is the store WOW you can get anything in there and they have great sales on dog clothing (if you like that) and beautiful collars. We have large grass play yards, a large swimming pool for the dogs and they are never put in cages over grass. The kennel techs are illegal immigrants, paid under the table who do not speak english. The dogs are not provided with anything to sleep on except for the cold hard ground, which very often is wet. Many dogs have left with sores and illnesses due to the conditions. Treated like cattle and not played with, just put in a cage over grass. Don't put your dog at risk. Read Less
