🐾 Pretty good and they are dedicated to fix, not bringing in papers to euthanize before knowing what's wrong (has happened). They rush you a little though and a little more communication on the follow/up/through keeps them from perfect. No their fault really, vet industry needs help from understanding people and in general some soul searching. This place is all about the money$$.  My 12 year old boxer needed his nails trimmed. They told me he had to be sedated to do it. They wanted to charge me $350 for anesthesia and monitoring!!   Luckily, a groomer next door to the animal hospital was able to take care of the problem for $15.00!    WTF!!!!  This vet is a total rip off.     The groomer is Aunt  Donna's, and I will recommend her on another post!! I was sad to see negative reviews, because our experiences with multiple pets were wonderful. We have 4 rescue dogs and a senior cat. All were handled gently and with kindness and reassurance. We never felt rushed, all of our (many!) questions were answered, we were treated with respect. One of our rescue dogs, Mia, was very ill when I brought her home from the pound. The vet at Best Friends recommended a canine neurologist who diagnosed a serious liver issue and ultimately saved Mia's life. To me, a sure sign of a good vet goes beyond giving excellent treatment in his/her clinic. It also means knowing when a specialist is needed instead of trying to guess - or simply saying "I don't know." The staff at this clinic are exceptional. I highly recommend. Read Less

Took in my pup for some vaccinations shots and to have some odd bumps that appeared examined. The Vet showed very little effort in researching and simply replied that they didn't know what the bumps were. They charged me $120 for the shots and some steroids and said good luck. Just my opinion, but when you don't know how to fix something you don't charge them for the exam.Read Less

This happened a while back and did not think of giving a review. I'm sorry I didn't. If I could give no stars I would. I used to bring my animals there but not anymore. We got a rescue dog Natasha and she had kennel cough so I brought her in and I also brought in my other dog Abby because I knew something was wrong with her as well. I figured she caught the kennel cough from the rescue dog. Dr Brady told me Abby did not have kennel cough it was just allergies to give her Benadryl. She then proceeded to give me this big lecture on kennel cough. Needless to say a day or so later Abby got worse. I tried to get an appt ASAP and I couldn't get her in for a few days. I took Abby to an emergency vet and she ended up having pneumonia. I don't think you get pneumonia from allergies.  I would never recommend this place to anyone and I said as much and more in a note to Best Friends when they sent me a reminder for rabies shots. I started going to Best Friends about 6 months ago. My senior dog was in kind of rough shape. He had been on prednisone for allergies and that was contributing to some other health issues. His liver values were high and he had a most wicked case of happy tail. Best Friends was able to get him off prednisone and onto a less harsh alternative (see above). My boy is no longer zombie dog, and his tail has healed. I felt compelled to leave a positive review today after receiving a call from the clinic letting me know that they had refilled my dog's medication - without me asking! After dealing with the human healthcare business for a frustrating 3 days, it is refreshing to find an office that communicates with their clients. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Read Less

I got my Yorkie's shots done here while in town. I waited too long thus 4 stars not 5, but they were great otherwise. Hands down best vet hospital in Mesa.  Staff is so friendly and make you feel like your pets are their pets. Very caring and informant, always make sure to give full details to what the issue at hand is. I highly suggest them to anyone. If you want your fur pets to be in good hands they are your people. The doctor who saw us was great in our need to notify us that our puppy passed. As if the loss of my dog wasn't hard enough, how were we greated by the inconsiderate receptionist, that was 1 step closer to getting thrown thru a window for talking as she did, as we asked for help for our pet who was not breathing. $79 for a Cat neuter with a free neuter voucher from Maricopa County... My vet charges that without a voucher, that is why I waited for 4 hours to get the voucher. They pretty much told me they were not experienced with neutering a cat stating they only do a few a day verses multiples per day like a spay neuter "factory". Very poor communication and customer service. I will not recommend nor will I take any of my other animals here. Beware they are money hungry. Read Less

VERY impressed with the entire experience here!! I had to take Reese's (my miniature pincher) in after coming home to her neck being extremely swollen. I called and spoke with Mona who was VERY friendly and made sure that we could get in ASAP. I have never been one to rush Reese to the vet over tiny things but this was a huge bulge on the back of her neck that had appeared out of no where. Upon arrival, after paperwork was done (don't worry, you won't have to write a book, just one simple page) we were put into a room and waited for the Doctor. We didn't wait long, which was awesome and I was extremely pleased with the demeanor of the nurse (I feel bad for not remembering her name) and Vet Alison Widener. They were wonderful with Reese and VERY helpful in explaining what could be wrong and what course of action to take! I DEFINITELY recommend this place to my fellow animal lovers!! They did not over charge me, they were honest and helpful and best of all, the Vet Alison wasn't wanting to create one big super bill of items that were un-needed!! She took a conservative approach, starting with simple med regiment to see if would help my Reese and asked that I follow up the next day (today) to let her know how that worked. I ALWAYS hear horror stories about paying an arm and leg; well here, they GIVE you your arm and leg and so much more!! I am truly happy with services received and will be going back if needed!! I was also given a med for Reese that they did not have. After going to two pharmacies and finding no one would have this for Reese, I returned and again the staff gave exceptional service!! Rather than make me travel the world, they found a medicine that would work the same with Reese. If your looking for a caring Vet and staff, this is the place!! Search no more! I am glad to know that if something happens to my almost 8-year old min pin, I have a place that will give not only prompt and professional service but the BEST treatment with great attitudes!! I have taken my dog here for a fews years on and off. Recently my 13 yo cat got into a fight and had an infected wound.  She has never been to a vet. The staff was so gentle and caring she never put up a fuss.  The quote they gave me was extremly reasonsable and they did a fantastic job. Honest, caring, and knowledgable. That's all I care about at a Vet! They're really good at giving quotes for exact amounts or more. That way when you get the final bill there's only room for it to go down. Not always a fun trip to the vet, but they do a fantastic job of making it the best experience possible. The puppy needed to be spayed, so we went to Best Friends Animal Hospital. Called prior to, was informed about the procedure (they only do spays on Mondays), pre-operation checkup needed ($35), and needing meds for after the operation (price depends on the size of your dog). They also give you a reminder call a day or two prior to your appointment.Price-wise, everything that was quoted is what I paid. Marleau (my puppy) was ready to go just after 1pm (she got dropped off around 8am). A little groggy, but everything went well. Everyone in the office is really nice, the vet is direct, nobody tries to sell you anything you don't need, and there's no preaching about anything. Bonus: nail trim with the spay!Took a few days, but Marleau is back to being her typical puppy self. No issues with the surgery and no problems thereafter! Read Less

This hospital can't be beat!  I stopped by one day because I knew I was going to be getting new pet and since Iive close to this veterinary practice, I thought it would be a great place to start.  The girl at the front desk was as sweet as could be.  She gave me tons of information about vaccines and deworming and spaying my puppy, and even gave me a puppy pack and lots of handouts.  I spent about 15 minutes there and didn't even spend a dime to get all of the stuff.  When I went in for my puppy's check up, the doctor was great.  She spent alot of time answering my questions.  I really felt like my pet was really important to them.  They had the assistant hold for the shots, which was really great because I am afraid of needles.  And I was really suprised that my baby didn't even flinch!  All of the staff were female, and I felt so comfortable both times I visited.  I will be going back for her boosters in a week, and I am going to have her microchipped (they are having a great special), and I will also be getting her spayed there.  It was such a great comfortable experience, I would highly recommend them! We just added our 3rd pug, a puppy to our family.  This is our 4th dog.  We had been taking our "pack" to another vet, but lately had not been happy.  Found BFAH when driving to our local market and gave them a call.  Needed to take the puppy for 2nd shots, initial exam and fecal exam.  When I phoned, staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.  Gave me pricing over the phone which turned out to be $40 less than our current vet!  Had appointments available to fit my scheduling needs.Could not have been happier!  Staff very courteous, friendly.  Office odor-free and clean.  Dr. Cohen extremely friendly and gentle with our little guy!  Took all the time we needed and never made us feel rushed.  Answered all our questions thoroughly and honestly.  Will be transferring all our other pets charts to BFAH! My husband was unexpectedly hospitalized at Banner in Mesa and we had to board our dog in a hurry. He needed a few shots to be current. We called Best Friends Animal Hospital, they took us right away did a full examination, vaccinations and had us on our way.
