Expensive but good care. 2 dogs getting 'fixed' and all shots cost over one thousand dollars. Very nice vets, staff a bit under-trained, each visit there was an 'error' on my bill that added cost, they always fixed it but it happened each time!!! I bought the lifetime vaccine plan for both dogs, come to find out that I would still have to pay the 'office visit' fee even if my dog had been examined the month before. I can see if it was a year but paying for a not needed exam was too much. How much money do your really need to make off me??? So I don't go there anymore, they keep sending me cards but I just can't afford it. That being said, my dogs did get very good care from the vets, maybe you just get what you pay for. Read Less

We went here for years and I thought it was excellent service at the time, but now I’m starting to question everything. Our dog has always been the picture of generally good health, but we came earlier this week for an emergency visit because our dog was trembling, warm, and not eating. We assumed it was an issue with her hips, but asked the staff to check for anything else. They did a very quick, very rushed checkup and sent us on our way with more anti-inflammatories. Well, it’s now a few days later and our dog is fighting for her life at another animal hospital because she has an inflamed liver that requires a risky blood transfusion. She had all of what we now know were, according to the current hospital staff, obvious symptoms of liver inflammation. Loss of appetite, fever, and trembling. This “animal hospital” didn’t even check our dog’s temperature or order any blood work when we took her in. They just assumed it had something to do with our dog’s one prior health issue. The staff here is definitely nice, but I hope they learn to actually take time with their clients. Dogs can’t speak up and tell us when something is wrong, so we put our faith in veterinarians to do everything they can to help them as soon as possible. I’m hoping and praying that our dog pulls through, but I’m utterly devastated that we could have done something to help her sooner had we not put our faith in this place. Read Less

We got Stat's ashes back from the vet today, and as heartbreaking as this whole experience has been for all of us losing such a great piece of our family the vet we chose has been nothing but amazing! They were so kind and heartful during the procedure. We received his ashes in this beautiful box, and along with that we got his paw print with a poem. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!! The front desk is A BIG PROBLEM!!! They advised me that METAL STAPLES would NOT need to be removed after my dogs gastroplexy & spay!!! Thank heavens I was persistent enough to argue with this IDIOTIC suggestion! We requested they prescribe antibiotic as part of a preventative measure and were REFUSED. Now the dog has an infection as well as a UTI! Followed up with "Condescending Camille" the office Manager who now refuses future service and told us to take the dog elsewhere. I did pay a pretty penny but then again it was on an ACL surgery for my 3 year old pooch. However, the staff, the quality of the operation, and their payment plans are outstanding and is worth every penny. I will be bringing my pets here as long as I'm accompanied by my best friend. Read Less

Awesome staff! I found a stray dog and brought her in to be scanned for a microchip and the staff was so nice and helpful. They let us wait in a room while they attempted to connect with the owners and sent us home with wet and dry food for the day while I waited for the owners to pick her up. Hannah even called later that day to make sure that the owners had been in touch with me. I really appreciate that they took the time out of their day to help me find the owners and return the lost pup to her home. Read Less

Everyone here is so sweet to my pup, Lucy! They are so affectionate to her, and even took the time to learn some of her hand commands because she is deaf. The vet techs & vets are super friendly & knowledgeable and they all really take the time to explain everything and answered all of my many questions. I brought my dog Milo in and he didn't have any issues or signs that would indicate any health issues. He's up to date on shots and I've been doing my best to keep him healthy. I take him to this vet and a few days later I notice some issues he's been having and they're getting worse and worse. I call in about a week late and try to make an appointment. The woman tells me there's a charge for the examination and then it'll go up from there. Milo was fine when he got there but now has issues since he's been there and they're trying to charge me? No thanks. I'll take my business elsewhere. You all should too. Read Less

I am giving this review a 1 star review specifically for the doctor there by the name of Chelsie Daniel. We brought our dog Midnight in on April 25th, 2017 with issues related to her randomly losing limb control at times, flicking her head and scratching at her ears. After a very short exam Daniel insists that it's probably just a pulled muscle. No big deal. She provided us with anti-inflammatory medication. We get our dog started on that and she said it would probably be about 2 weeks before she is healed. So we give it two weeks, and nothing changes. Since they aren't the cheapest place, we decided to wait a little longer before bringing her in a second time for the same issue. We take her in again on May 27th. This time Daniel is suspecting Valley Fever, and let me just pause for a moment... From the symptoms we provided Daniel, how in the world did she get Valley Fever?? Whatever, "the doctor knows best" right? Wrong. She insists on doing a blood test for Valley Fever. We agree to it. Results take about a week to come back. While we're waiting for the results, I did 5 minutes of research to find out there was a high possibility it was Vestibular Disease. A week passes and they hadn't called us about the results yet, so we called them and a lady at the desk answered saying yes the results came back... Okay, so why didn't we get a call? We have to wait for the doctor to call us because the lady at the counter wasn't able to discuss that information with us. A few hours later a different doctor calls us with the results, no Valley Fever. While we're on the phone with her, we suggest that it might be Vestibular Disease, and she agreed with us 100%. Wow, I didn't know I was a vet. They should've paid me for diagnosing my dog. So at this point we are almost 2 months in to limb control issues and ear scratching. They rack up our bill with an ear cleaning, ear cleaning solution, and ear drops. The medications worked for a very short period of time. We call them to see if there's anything else that we can be doing... They suggested neurological imaging, a CT, or a sedated ear cleaning. Of course with the prices of any of those, we can not afford any of the options. Our dog miraculously got better for a week, and then June 29th came and she was back to the bottom. Falling over, can't walk straight, very lethargic. Sunday, July 2nd, was almost rock bottom, we couldn't get her to drink a drop of water. We put Midnight in the back of our car and started rushing her to the hospital before we stopped ourselves and thought, maybe if we got chicken broth, we could get her to drink something. That plan didn't work. So I take Monday, July 3rd off planning to take her into a different vet. I was up at 4:30am. 6am rolls around and I can't even get my dog to stand up. Whenever I tried, she kept lunging forward and running into things, knocking me down. I panicked and called my boyfriend to come home from work, we need to take her to the hospital. Less than 3 hours later, we were laying with her on the hospital floor, tears streaming down our face while we were saying goodbye to our beloved 4 year old dog. We blame ourselves for not pushing Chelsie Daniel to investigate more. But at the time, we trusted her judgement. Her judgement was way off, and she misdiagnosed our dog not once, but twice. She wasted almost 2 months of our dogs life. There is a chance that our dog could've still been here today if it wasn't for the misdiagnosing. I am deeply disappointed with Chelsie Daniel and hope that the management takes a second look at her. Read Less

First I like that they are open 7 days a week. The front staff is very nice and customer friendly. The doctors and assistants are so professional and knowledgeable. My cats are my kids so I am that mother who asks a lot of questions. The doctor had patience with me which I appreciated. The doctor's assistant reviews everything with you ahead of time so I am aware of the costs and what I'm being charged. The pet care education they given you is also a wonderful thing. You are not a number to them. They take their time with your precious pets. This place offers in house payment plans and also life time vaccinations with a one time fee. They also list each patients name on the welcome board. I loved this. It made my cat and I feel special. Read Less

Very very bad. My doggie died 3 months ago. After charging me $3500 for the surgery, I told them no. I'm not buying a car. I loved my doggie. Then they tried to charged me $200 for the ashes. I said No, but they still charged me to cremated him. I left very upset. Today I got a letter saying they have his paw print in Clay? After 3 months? It can be any other dog not mine. I'm very furious about that. I'm never coming back there again. Liars and cheaters. Taking advantage of people's pain.Read Less

Our cat had an eye infection and this office was amazing. Professionalism and a since of humor. Dr. Graham was awesome, gave us options and gave his opinion on the best course of action. The staff is very professional and extremely nice. My problem is I took my cat in late in the afternoon, too late in the day for her to be sedated so they could find why she is so constipated. The doctor gave me a prescription to go fill at Walgreens. I went to several pharmacies and they all said there is no veterinarian under her name in the national database. The vet also didn't write her national number on the prescription so I couldn't get it filled. The office was closed by then. This is very aggravating and shouldn't be so complicated. Read Less

We love this vet! We take our rats here, and they've always been so great with them! They're extremely friendly, and you can tell they really care about your pets. Dr Barnett or Benard. He miss diagnosed all 4 of my dogs and they died. He's a horrible Dr and should not be around animals...If I could have gave 0 stars I would have. Way to expensive better off going to PETSMART. I got a lion cut or tried then was charged $68 for half work so I told them and they gave me half money back. They recommend putting cat to sleep but charge another $70+ for that. ( This is free at PetSmart) If I didn't complain I would have walked out with a $68 incomplete haircut. Incomplete because they said my cat was agressive which was funny because 1hr ago some lady handed a bag full of crap to her now that's agressive. If I could give more stars I would!! From the incredible staff/nurses to the doctor, my husband and I and surely our chiweenie was also very impressed and will be going back for his normal care from now on. It all started when our poor chiweenie came down with an anal glands infection that turned into an abscess and they were able to get him booked and treated from start to finish! I would def recommend this place for anyone who loves and cares deeply about their pets because this place really do care about their animals that they treat! I don't know how many places greet and show genuine interest in making sure your puppy member is feeling good too The overall procedure and surgery was done in a timely manner complete with instructions for care afterwards. Each and every person we came in contact with was respectful and courteous! The overall cost was very affordable, they even went out of their way to give us some options such as payment plans to be able to afford our Puppies treatments. Which I don't know of any places that will take payment plans, this surely relieved a lot of stress especially being a pet owner as emergencies come up and we have to pay out of pocket most times, it's great that they offer this! I would highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Sorenson to  anyone & everyone. I just recently moved back to The Valley and I took my dog here the last time I lived here. They were able to get me in very quickly, the vet tech was very polite and thorough, and you can tell how much Dr. Sorensen truly loves animals. My dog is protective of me, so basically he can get aggressive if he gets his checkups done with me in the room. Another vet in this office, and older gentleman, had labeled my dog as fully aggressive, meaning we had to have a muzzle on him from the second we walked in the door. This was because this vet treated us like a number, walked in without introducing himself to me or my dog, and just starting feeling up my dog... I don't think anyone would appreciate this. After some going back and forth, the removed his "aggressive" title. Dr. Sorensen was very accommodating to my dog being protective, properly introduced herself to me and my dog, and took him to the back for his exam. Guess what? There were no problems... it's crazy what can happen when the doctors treat you like a person instead of like a number. She also prescribed my dog some mild anxiety medicine for when he came in, whereas the other doctor wanted him on a full-blown sedative. The doctors and staff at Dobson Ranch Animal Hospital are wonderful. We took our Molly there for xrays to see what was going on with her knees. Dr. Graham and tech Josh were wonderful and explained what was wrong, what we need to do to get Molly better. On top of being great doctors and staff, they have great hours especially on the weekends and even better they have no interest in house payment plans so anyone can get their fur babies cared for. Dr. Sorenson was our doctor and she was just great with my Cinder. She always called to check up on her and made sure she was doing good. Now that I've learned their follow up skills are horrible, (even after I've called several times through out the week) my opinion has definitely changed! I absolutely love Dr. Hirth! She is so warm and compassionate, she truly cares about our fur babies. I was hesitate about finding a vet that was as good as the one I had in NJ after moving to AZ..no problem with Dobson Ranch. Everyone there, from the front office, to Sara the groomer, to the vet techs and doctors..wonderful!!! Can't rate you guys high enough. As for as pricing, people who think the prices are high at Dobson, should visit a vet in NJ! Wow, at least 3 times the amount per visit. Read Less

Every visit the pricing is very transparent and they always talk with you before moving forward on anything that would cost more. The first time we visited Dobson Ranch was right after adopting our dog from the county shelter. The shelter referred us to a list of vets who had partnered with the county to offer a free exam to new rescues. We were so impressed by their knowledgeable and caring professionals that we continued going to DRAH even when we moved 3 cities away! They're always friendly and have been able to squeeze us in for an emergency visit on more than one occasion! I've never felt like my family wasn't valued or like I was wasting their time with input/questions. I also really appreciate the fact that they were just as excited to see a French Bulldog as they were to see our Doberman! We just moved to the east coast this summer and knowing that I'd be moving away from such a great vet was a little harder to swallow than moving away from my friends. This is a great group of people who genuinely care about animals and their owners!Read Less

It's hard to properly rate someone when you take your animal there expecting them to live and that is not the case. My best friend was euthanized here 2 weeks ago and it sucks. As far as my experience ... it was a very emotional one and because I didn't have enough money, I was unable to save my best friend. The vet tech that was with me the entire time was amazing. There really isn't anything she could have done more perfectly. My rating reflects the over pricing, and the fact that I know services and supplies do not cost nearly as much as they charged me to take away something that I loved very dearly. Vets play off people's emotions and it's extremely terrible. From the moment we walked in the door, it was about money. I couldn't even breathe I was crying so hard. I am now making payments on my best friend who is no longer with me... the only thing I have left of him is a paw print card they sent to me afterwards which was nice. I appreciated the option to make payments... and the tech was lovely but I will more than likely never return.Read Less

We brought our dog to Dobson Ranch Animal Hospital after being referred by a sister clinic. Our dog wasn't feeling well and were able to get a same day appointment. Everyone was very friendly when we got there and we got taken into a room right away. Dr. Hirth and Misty were who we saw that day. They were both very friendly, honest, and sympathetic to our situation. They were very patient with us while we came to terms that it was best to put down our Max. They walked us through the whole process and made us feel as comfortable as possible given the situation. Because of their kindness and generosity, we were able to get Max's ashes. I can't even begin to tell you how much that means to us. When we got Max back, he was in a cute little wood box, they took the time to make a mold of his paw prints, and someone hand wrote and decorated his name on his bag. I moved to chandler just about a year ago with my two dogs. As it would happen 3 months after moving here I lost my job and then my almost 10 yr old black lab was attacked at a dog park. Of course it was a Sunday and I was given Dobson as an option. They were beyond amazing not only with my dog but also with me in helping me finance the surgery interest free. Because of this initial visit I kept them as my vet for my boys even though they were about 20 min from my home. Then just recently on Aug 4th I had to put my now 10.5 year old lab down. As soon as I walked in with both of my boys, kimmy walked me right to my room that they had ready for me. There was a blanket on the floor and an abundance of treats for my boys. She stated there was no rush, we got the paperwork done and then a little while later Dr Barnett came in. We talked for awhile and he explained the process that they did and that when I was ready we would start. This is the 3rd dog that I have had to put down and I really liked that they first sedated my Hunter and then gave me time with him before we sent him to the rainbow bridge. I was able to lay with him and whisper in his ear how much I loved him and what an amazing companion he has been. I was able to stay for as long as I needed afterwards. Words can never express how amazing the entire staff were during this time. When I picked up my Hunter he was in a beautiful wood box with an imprint of his paw in a beautiful case. Well if all of this wasn't enough I also received a card in the mail that the staff took the time to write personal messages to me. I cried all over again. Never have I had a group of people give such outstanding service and care to my dogs and to me. If you want your companions to be looked after with love and care then you want this team to be part of your family. Thank you all for everything.Read Less

This is such a wonderful place to take your fur babies. Every single person in their seems to care about the animals they see and the doctors are so gentle and comforting to not only the animals but their owners too. We found out that our fur baby had cancer and it was too far along it would only get worse. They kept her comfortable for the ad long as she kept going. We finally had to put her down but everyone was so comforting and the room was set up nicely and was clean every time we went in there. I will take future animals here. Read Less

Dr. Barnett is by far the most incompetent vet I have ever met and should not be around animals. I took my incredibly healthy dog to Dobson for a knee injury. Not questioning what this fool prescribed for pain, I gave the medicine to her. Not only was the medication an Antiseizure medication, all information says that the animal will have life threatening seizures should you stop using it. Of course this was never explained and when my dog did in fact start having Grand Mal Seizures upon stopping it, the doctors tried to put it off saying my dog must have an undetectable or hidden brain tumor, because they have never heard anything like that. Refusing to even address the medication, their position, as Dr. Barnett put it, "it is rather suspicious that her seizures started after quitting the Gabapentin but you have no proof that it caused the seizures." That speaks volumes about the type of person he is and the people this place employs. Read Less

Brought my dog in here when she was 6 months old because I thought her ear smelled funny. The doctor at Dobson Ranch told me that they needed to surgically remove her whole ear because they thought it was because she had an infection. I was so worried. I couldn't bear doing this without having a second opinion so I brought her to another animal hospital in Ahwatukee where those doctors (who seemed WAY more genuine) told me that they did not need to remove her ear and she had absolutely no infection; she just had a lot of hair (cause of the smell, because air couldn't pass through her ear). The Ahwatukee animal hospital actually thought removing her ear was a ridiculous idea and told me that absolutely nothing was wrong with my dog. She had no infection. So why did you just jump to wanting to remove my puppy's ear Dobson Ranch? My dog is now 2 years old and is healthy as can be, WITHOUT surgically removing her ear! Additionally, I brought my cat here to get her fixed and a couple days after her surgery I noticed that her stitches were not properly closed and her insides were coming out... Horrible!!!!!!!!!!! I know others who have had appalling experiences with this place and their beloved pets. Never bring your pet to this place. They are not trustworthy or loving to pets at all. Dr. Brad Barnett & their team saved my puppy Nomi! I have a 5 month old puppy and she we first started noticing she was vomiting and very lethargic. We (foolishly) waited about 3 days, and on the third day found out that her symptoms were not improving and had a feeling that she was close to death but were not sure of the cause. On Saturday evening we took her to a 24 ER and discovered she had a intestinal obstruction from swallowing something she shouldn't have. After x-rays and verifying this the ER doctor on site admitted she was not comfortable performing surgery herself and recommended we call in a specialist for surgery. The quote was $5000 for the specialist, and $4500 for her to do a surgery she felt she may not have been able to perform unless everything went perfectly. (to be fair, she let us know this and it was obvious she was indicating we should use a specialist.) We decided to take her own after loading her up with IV fluids and ended up staying up all night until 7:45am and called around the valley on Sunday to compare price and experience of local vets. Dobson Ranch was our last call and we were greeted by the receptionist Kimi; Kimi is SINGLE-HANDEDLY the reason we didn't hesitate to bring her in immediately. Kimi gave us confidence they could save our dog, was truly empathetic and worried for our furbaby. She made us feel like their was hope and had GENUINE concern-- said that they have performed MANY of these surgeries and that our puppy was in the best hands. Beyond that, she gave us a legitamate 'ballpark' price where as other vet's didn't want to disclose that information without looking but insisted we bring her in for a free exam and indicated that they would likely be cheaper than any vet in the valley. They also let us take our records/x-rays from the ER from the night before, where as many vets required we get ANOTHER diagnosis done/x-ray WITH THEM, even though we already had done that at the ER. Dr. Brad Barnett was our DR and he is genuinely one of the nicest vet's I've EVER met. He just breathes confidence and we KNEW we were in good hands. He told us everything that needed to be done, the possible issues, but was very sure that it was a obstruction in her intestines; he actually took our hands and put our fingers over it. To (somewhat...) our surprise, it was a circular, 'soft plastic' feeling item-- we knew right away it was the top of a pink puppy teething Kong. Before surgery, the tech went over in detail the prices from lowest to highest and everything involved. They took our puppy shortly after and a few hours later after a lot of stress we got the call-- Nomi's surgery was a COMPLETE success and she will make a 100% full recovery. The price? It was LESS than the lowest estimate the showed us and with the payment plan it's less than what I pay for my cell phone per month!! We took her home that night with another IV and heavily medicated, took her in the next morning with a fresh cheesecake for the staff. :) I cannot commend these guys anymore than I have; the entire staff is friendly, compassionate and just rockstars at what they do. I had to bring my sweet guy there today for some testing and we found out he had kidney failure and was not doing well. The staff was the very best,so compassionate and gentle to me and Coco. Worst day of my life thus far and it was handled in the best way I could have ever asked for. The Nurses and Doctor were top notch an knowledgable, but gentle and understanding.
