Unfortunately our experience was a sad one. We had to put our pet, Chomper to rest. The tech, the doctor were very understanding as to how much time we needed with Chomper before we said our good byes. It wasn't easy but it was it was as they explained it would be. Love this vet! My dog had kennel cough when we adopted him, and they were able to fit us right in. They helped me look at all the options to benefit my dogs health, but didn't push us to get anything at the same time. They answered all of our questions and were a super friendly staff. I always liked Dr. Holst and thought she was great to my cats.However, I wound up switching vets a few years ago because I unfortunately experienced too many clerical errors on behalf of the non-veterinarian staff at Paws to want to go back. Although that staff is probably gone now, I still remember what happened well.1. I made an appointment for a vaccination and when I showed up, there was no vaccine to give. I asked the vet tech why nobody checked and she told me they did. Even though 5 minutes before, she looked into the fridge to get the vaccine and announced loudly that they had just run out and needed to order more. 2. Although it was probably re-activated by stress, one of my cats became ill with Giardia after he received treatment here. When I asked the vet tech why my other cat didn't get it, she told me its because my cats were not litter mates (even though they have shared a litter box their entire lives).3. One of my cats went in for a teeth cleaning and came out with the fur on her hips shaved...? I didn't even notice until after the next day after she had groomed it down flat with her tongue and there was a little bald patch. I never said anything about it because after the other two issues I wasn't very interested in hearing what anyone had to say.So I decided to find a new vet with a new staff. Sorry Dr. Holst. Paws Veterinary Clinic is an amazing Clinic!!! I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a friendly and most helpful staff to tend to your 4 legged family members! They helped us out today so much! My dad and I went in as walk in's because our shih tzu has been having some very bad discharge in his left eye and slowly started to infect the other eye as well as this made him just lay in bed all day without eating and of course we were getting worried, so we took him to the Emergency Animal Clinic in Gilbert and after a $150 dollar bill(granted it was on a sunday so maybe they were getting routed or something) all we got was some eye drops to help "clear them up". After that we went to a different Vet and they pretty much gave us pan medications for him.Then today after not being able to see our little buddy in so much pain we went to paws and were greeted by some lovely young ladies they told u that Dr. Holst was in the middle of surgery but if we wanted to wait we were more than welcomed to, so we did and i felt bad because they hadn't gone to lunch yet and they went straight to helping us out well when Dr. Holst did her treatment she actually checked his eyes and actually found a foxtail grass weed under in his eye! at that point she proceeded to taking it out and our little furry buddy finally loosened up to have such a relief taken out of him! This made my dad and I pretty upset because taking him to multiple vets and getting quotes of $800+ for surgeries is outrages when all they had to do was a simple eye check!  In any ways Dr. Holst performed a couple more treatments that the other vets did not do and prescribed a couple of medications for him. Oh and yea she also helped us get rid of some of our buddies ear wax build up free of charge! I have three dogs and have been coming to this veterinarian since I moved to the area a few years ago. A couple if weeks ago I took in two of my dogs to be treated. I was told that I was being given 3 ml of a medication that I would give to one if my dogs twice a day in .12 ml doses. I was told this should last me about a month. I used the syringe that was given to me by the dr. and gave my dog exactly .12 ml twice a day as directed but the medication only lasted a week. I returned a check up call from the office today and let them know that I was not given as much medication as I was advised I was getting and that it only lasted a week. The person I spoke to left a message for someone to call me back. I did get a call back from Kate with a voice mail while I was at work. In the message Kate stated that the dr wanted to see my dog again and that I should have been giving my dog .12 ml, the meds should have lasted much more than a week, and that I over medicated my dog. I called the office and asked to speak to Kate. I told her that I medicated my dog exactly as instructed and that I have her .12 ml twice a day. She insisted that I was given 3ml of medication and that had I correctly medicated my dog it would have lasted longer. She refused to admit or entertain the idea that someone on their end may have made a mistake when measuring the medication that was give to me. After a lengthy argument in which she did nothing but insist that the error was in my dosing and not in their dispensing and a very insincere apology I hung up. So I have now paid 300.00 for a vet visit, which included medication that was not dispensed to me, and my dog still has the same issue she was seen for AND I am looking for a new office to take my dogs to so I can pay someone else to see my dog for the same issue that should have been resolved with our 300.00 visit to Paws. I will be visiting the office tomorrow to speak to the dr. And request a partial refund for the medication since I paid for more than I was given as well as to pick up my pet's records. Read Less

I took my miniature Dachshund, Spottie, who is ten years old, for a check-up. I had the United Pet Care policy for him and as a result it was not as expensive. He got his distemper vaccine, and a overall check-up. I love the diagnostics this clinic gives. They give you a printout and very detailed explanation of each "issue" your little critter has. They give you options and are less expensive than other veterinarians in the Mesa area. I found it funny that my little dog is somewhat snappy and he hated the doctor but loved the vet techs. I really like the service of Paws. It's small and has a nice independent feel to it.  I've taken my cat in twice.  Once for a check up and another so he could get neutered.  They answered all my questions and even gave me some help with his post-surgery behavior.  Everyone there is friendly and helpful.  If I wasn't moving I would definitely take my cat back there for his annual again.
