I brought my fasted cat in through ER intending to get a scan to rule out a foreign body or structural issue related to his chronic ipsilateral URI. THEY strongly discouraged doing just the scan and recommended I SCHEDULE an appointment for a time when he could get BOTH a scan AND a rhinoscopy, performed under one anesthesia. I did as they recommended, arriving at that appointment/second visit only to be told they can’t do both tests on this particular date and I need to schedule Another appointment/THIRD visit to get those two diagnostic tests done on the same day under one anesthesia. WHAT?!? They had the Nerve to chastise Me for being upset that I have to put my sick cat through the stress of coming back a THIRD time to get tests which I was told were scheduled for Today. NOW, they won't schedule that THIRD visit until AFTER their office manager talks to me first. WTH?!? I brought my fur baby to this hospital and she was diagnosed with an enlarged liver due to her having gallstones. After having to be hospitalized they decided she needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately for my sweet baby girl Squirt she had complications waking up from the anesthesia. I'm confident that they did everything they could for her. The Doctor called me to deliver the bad news. The poor guy took it heart like she was his own cat. He was so sympathetic and kept apologizing like he did something wrong. I want to assure you sir that I know in my heart it was just her time and nobody could stop her from leaving us all. Your staff is so supportive. I feel like we were ripped-off at VCA. Our cat was very sick but the vet held out hope for us that she could be alright. They had us pay $2900.00 up-front for a "4 day stay". After 1 day, sadly, our cat was put down. VCA told us that we would receive a refund for any unused days of the 4 day fees. After waiting for a refund that never came, we called to inquire what had happened. VCA's excuse was that our cat's tests totaled $2900.00! What a coincidence! I would not return to this vet. It feels like they prey on desperate pet owners who will do anything (even paying thousands of dollars) in hopes of saving their pet's life. Beware! P.S. To make matters worse, Cheyenne was snippy on the phone which was unnecessary. Read Less

I am so thankful for the wonderful patient staff here at VCA animal hospital. I brought in my German Shepard mix after he hurt his back playing, he was hunched over and in obvious pain. He also is very protective and somewhat fearful of new people and places. I was so worried he wouldn't allow them to help but they were so nice and determined. They made him comfortable and by the time he hobbled out he had a little tail wag ( could have been pain meds but whatever ) my mother and I can't thank them enough for making such and educated treatment plan for him, which was surprising affordable for an emergency vet visit. He is doing so great, even in just a week he almost seems back to his old self. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my other dogs here if God forbid anything ever happened. ALSO this was memorial day and assume they were very busy as normal vets are closed and they still were on top of everyone and so efficient. Our dog came back from groomer with advisement of possible ring worm. Regular vet was closed. VCA is their emergency referral. 20 miles round trip. 2 cars because I met my husband there. Was told by front desk they would test. 90 minute wait. Doctor said he didn't know how to test for ringworm. He only knew how to handle physical trauma. My 6 week old puppy was on the verge of dying but these people saved his life! I brought him in from another vet that I had taken my other dog to before she passed away and they treated us like complete GARBAGE! HORRIBLE service! Please DO NOT go to Aztec Animal Hospital in Scottsdale. They are truly a rip off and they will not give you the care and attention needed. They charge you hundred-thousands before even telling you what COULD be wrong with your pet, but not exactly what's wrong. So I was here for 12 hours one day because my puppy was not moving and he had a fever and was anemic and everything else. I stayed there until they closed because they kept telling me that they would be back with the results from the multiple exams they had given my puppy. When they closed, they then proceeded to tell me that I wold have to come back another day. MY PUPPY WAS DYING!!!! He needed a blood transfusion ASAP but they wasted my entire day so by the time I was able to leave that terrible place, many other places were closed. That is when I came here, to VCA Emergency Hospital. They took him in right away and in the span of 5 long days and nights, they were able to figure out EVERYTHING that was wrong with him (intussusception, anemia, multiple parasites, etc) and they did everything in their power to make sure that he would be able to survive. My poor puppy had been suffering for two weeks through surgeries, transfusions, medications, etc but this hospital SAVED HIS LIFE. On top of this, every single staff member there was so enthusiastic about working with Blue and making sure that he was okay. It was definitely costly when treating him but the results were outstanding. My baby Blue is now healthy and able to run and live his life as a happy puppy ! I will forever be grateful to this hospital. I just really want to thank everybody there for saving my puppy's life!!! Read Less

Came here upon referal of my regular vet. My cat was peeing blood and ran a fever. The doctors assumed it was a uti so they suggested I get an antibiotic and see if she improves. The antibiotic they suggested was given in vaccine form which I was just informed by my regular vet that it would not work against a uti. So goodbye 200 dollars! Now I have to pay more money to get an antibiotic that will hopefully work and then more work done if it does not. My poor kitty has been in pain this entire waiting process. Read Less

We took our boxer to VCA last Saturday. I would be giving this visit a rating of 5 stars if it weren€t for Dr. Brian. Our boxer had collapsed and was unresponsive. They took him back as soon as we got there. We filled out all the paperwork. I know our dog was taken into ICU, it would probably be a bit of a wait, while they looked him over. We were moved to a room. Dr. Brian came in and asked us questions about our dog and his day. We gave him all the details. He then says to us, €You seem like nice people, but what you are telling me doesn€t add up, to how sick your dog is.€ €he looks like he has been hit by a truck!€ We are already very worried and upset for our 4 legged family member, but, to be accused of mistreating our animal, was COMPLETELY, uncalled for. People who would do terrible things to an animal, wouldn€t go to the emergency vet. We decided to do blood work. We waited for those results to come back. Again, had the opportunity to get feedback from Dr. Brian. He informed us, he has 21 yrs of experience and he has NEVER seen anything like this. We took the next step and did an xray. We waited for those results. Dr. Brian came back and told us it was clear. So, we left our dog so he could get treatment. We were able to go back and visit him before we left. I can€t remember the woman€s name, who was with Knuckles. But, I do want to thank her for being so kind to us and Knuckles. I don€t know how, someone could do that job. The next morning, we get a call from a different vet. She informed us that she had looked at the xray and saw some abnormalities. She had done a 2nd xray and found that Knuckles had a blockage in his intestine. Yes, she looked at the same xray, Dr. Brian had. She went over our options without judgement, or accusation. We decided to put Knuckles to sleep. They had a special room where we could spend sometime with him. They were so great. Knuckles isn€t suffering anymore, his pain is gone. I know ours will be too, as the days go on. But, the pain of having a vet accuse you of doing something terrible to our pet. That pain will be here for quite a while. If my other dog ever has an emergency, I will most likely call to make sure Dr. Brian is not the vet on that shift. Read Less

I've had to visit them a few times, unfortunately, but every experience I've had with them has been good. I haven't always been a fan of emergency veterinarians or emergency room staff, but Dr. Lenius was amazing! Normally, I come across emergency vets talking to you like you're lesser, or stupid when you ask questions and act like they don't have time to sit and explain things to you. I understand it's emergency and sometimes there is a million things going on, but I would like to know and understand what's going on with my pets, especially since you're always spending hundreds of dollars there. Dr. Lenius explained everything so we understood completely, and was very gentle and compassionate with my shepherd. Katherine, the hospital director, was also very helpful. Horrible. The tech checked out my cat, came back and had me signing all kinds of papers - $3200. Did nothing for my cat in the meantime. I was beside myself crying. Then the Dr. came in, was rude to me, told me he couldn't help me if I was crying too hard to answer my questions. I calmed down as best I could to answer the questions. He then told me my cat was very sick and I waited too long to bring him in, and walked out of the room. The tech came back to complete the paperwork for the payment. I called my husband who wanted to talk to the doctor and asked the tech to do something for our cat - we would sign anything, but just help him in the meantime. The doctor never came in to talk to my husband. I then went out to the front desk and told them that Dr. Brian was rude and could we please get some help for my cat. Then Dr. Brian came out to the front desk and told me I would have to leave. That he couldn't work with me. My cat was dying and they did nothing for him. I then went speeding across town to 1st Pet on Southern at Higley, At 1st Pet, the tech took my cat back into the room immediately, checked him out and said she needed to bring him back to the treatment area to get him an iv right away. My husband asked - don't you want us to sign something? She said no, we need to get your cat taken care of right away. He wound up staying the night and the next day and they saved my cat. All I can say is thank God we didn't leave him at VCA. Thank God for 1st Pet. Recently I was talking to someone about his dogs and he told me out of the blue that he had a dog that had passed away. He said he took him to an emergency clinic, paid $3500, left him at the clinic and the dog was dead the next day. So I asked if it was VCA on Country Club near Brown. And he said, how did you know? I said because of the price. He told me that after the dog passed away, VCA accused him of choking the dog. I guess they were trying to put it off on him instead of taking responsibility for the dog's death. He was blown away and of course said why would I pay $3500 if I choked my dog. This place is a nightmare. Don't go here...ever. Read Less

I wanted to leave a comment because its important to know who to go to when your pet, like mine, needs to see someone when my veterinarian is not available. I would trust these guys anytime. All the negative comments I see are people complaining about money and mostly about Parvo. Please be a responsible pet owners and get their yearly vaccines and pet care and not waste these peoples times when you as a pet owner should have already have done this and been responsible.

Great people, thank you for doing what you do!! - Erinn and Bowzer Read Less

Read Less

All the negative comments I see are people complaining about money and mostly about Parvo. Please be a responsible pet owners and get their yearly vaccines and pet care and not waste these peoples times when you as a pet owner should have already have done this and been responsible.
