I took my cat Kim here recently for a check-up and later a teeth cleaning. They did not overcharge or try to pressure/guilt me into paying for unnecessary services (for a healthy, strickly-indoors cat that is never around other animals), which is something I've experienced at a prior pet clinic. The staff was very compassionate and patient with my cat. She gets very nervous at the vet and everyone did their best to make her experience as comforting as possible. Thank you to the entire staff! We have been going to Mesa Animal hospital for over 10 years. They used to be fantastic, especially when Dr. Funk was there to care for the exotics. The last 6 months they have been extremely unresponsive and hard to get a hold of. It takes days to get prescription refills and calls have gone unanswered. When we are actually there for an appointment they are nice and attentive, but the lack of responsibility to anything else makes it hard to give a good review. Edit: yesterday I posted this as 3 stars, today I am dropping this to 2 stars. We brought our cat George into this location suddenly, in distress. The entire staff was accommodating, patient and got us into a room immediately. I am so grateful to the nurses, students and doctors for the way the visit went from start to finish. VCA Mesa is great! We were sad about switching vets when we moved to Mesa, but we've had nothing but great experiences with Mesa VCA for wellness exams, illness/injury visits and surgery. We usually see Dr. Velez and she is great! All of the staff, from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors are pleasant and helpful. They try to get your pet into a private room right away to avoid sitting in the waiting room. Before doing any interventions, they will answer questions, go over treatment options and give you a price list beforehand, so you know exactly how much you are paying. My daughter, whom is in AZ visiting before leaving to go to S Korea, recommended this vet office to me to get my french bulldogs teeth cleaned. I went online and found a free initial visit coupon and downloaded it for my initial visit to get established. I was advised to check in 15 minutes early to fill out new client paperwork. When my daughter and I arrived no one was in the office to greet us so we sat down and waited for a little bit and then my daughter saw the new client paperwork sitting on the counter so I filled it out. When the vet tech, Wesley, finally appeared she ushered us into a room, she didn't stop to weigh my pet which I thought is usually customary. After a couple of minutes Wesley appeared in the room again and stated we could not use the coupon because it was one per household and because my daughter had just recently, one week before, brought her dog there I couldn't use the coupon and the fee would be $63. I explained to Wesley that my daughter doesn't live with me she just used my address because she lives out of state (and she didn't use a coupon on her visit), they are in the military and are on there way to Korea. Wesley's tone became very nasty and she stated that it clearly states all over the coupon that we couldn't use! She then turned around abruptly and practically ran to the MD's office and I heard her telling that person that I didn't want to pay the $63. For starters I never said I didn't want to pay the cost of a visit she didn't give me the opportunity to answer before she got nasty and stormed off! So we had no option but to get up and leave! I called the vet office with questions about a pregnant dog. I wanted to know if I should change the diet to puppy chow. I was told not to change her diet from adult dog food and the dogs body will give all the nutrients the puppies needed. Now after having puppies and an emergency vet visit for the sick mother. The vet asked if I was feeding her puppy chow and that I should have been feeding it to her. Very upset! Read Less

We love Dr. Funk for our reptile care! Wouldn't go anywhere else. He treats our bearded dragon just as affectionately as you would a dog. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and has an amazing sense of humor. When our bearded dragon was very small she contracted a respiratory illness. If I could put 0 stars I would this is the second time I have been to vca and they are rude every single time!!!! The lady was so rude I was running 5 minutes late due to traffic and she tells me I have to reschedule when they have nothing for the rest of the week...... Last time I go their and I'll happily take my dog to another place where they don't mind helping my dog!!!! If you go here except rude service from the lady's up front, and to have a vet say she can't look at dog because she doesn't want to stay later then she has to..... We have been with VCA for several years. We were sad to see Dr. Funk retire but understand. Dr. Moffett is a great vet. She cares about our pet "children" as much as we do. Ashley, is the best!!!!!! She always makes sure our messages and concerns get to Dr Moffett. Our huskey, Timber has horrible allergies and we have a ton of questions and concerns. Every time we call with questions Ashley makes sure we get the help and answers we need. We also have reptiles. The diversity of experience in the doctors is amazing! Thanks VCA for all you do!! Just moved back to Arizona. Prior to this I always used Mesa Animal Hospital for my pet kitty of 20 years. They took exceptional care of him through out his life. I have another kitty 15 yrs old that I now take to this wonderful facility. They extended the same care and understanding as before. My wife just called and asked about some info because our dog got a hold of a small piece of an onion. All they cared about was listing all the charges for a health check and other crap...so my wife said "is that all u guys care about?
