The staff was very friendly and understanding. I am very grateful to them for the care they gave my boy. I was a little unhappy with how long it took(about 10 hours), but I do understand there may have been patients that needed more urgent care. The doctor did a great job of outlining the pros and cons of all of my options and making sure I understood exactly what to expect. I have called with questions at least 4 or 5 times after taking him home, and everyone I have spoken to has been really great at giving very clear and helpful advice! We took our dog Roxy to BluePearl emergency vet in Peoria on Monday night at 11pm because we noticed she was having trouble with her labor, they sent us home after only checking her vitals and did not complete a thorough exam. We knew something wasn’t right hence the reason why we brought her in. They told us her labor could take a couple of days and to come back if we noticed her in distress. On Wednesday we noticed Roxy in distress we immediately rushed her back to BluePearl but by that time it was too late. They took her back and let us know that one of the puppies was stuck in the birth canal in a breech position, the puppy was not viable. They told us that a c-section was needed and it would cost anywhere from $4,000-$5,000 otherwise we would have to put her down. We decided to take Roxy into her regular vet immediately for her c-section. Roxy was in critical condition, she had a litter of 9 puppies and it saddens us to say that all 9 puppies didn’t make it. If BluePearl would have taken the time to thoroughly examine our dog the first time we brought her in before rushing us out and reassuring us that she would be fine Roxy’s puppies could have been saved. We almost lost our sweet dog because of this place and their wrong judgment and their inability or desire to thoroughly examine a pregnant dog. We are heart broken after seeing all the pain that our poor baby went through. We will be taking action on this. Read Less

This past Thursday evening I took in my beloved fur baby who I discovered lying on my bedroom floor very weak during my lunch break. I rushed him to this facility because it was the only option open during this time. They did take him back immediately but told me there wasn’t much they could do without running tests and taking X-rays and in order to do these tests it would have cost me 430 dollars up front. 430 dollars was not just lying around in my pocket and that didn’t even include treatment. My complaint is that there needs to be some kind of payment plan not just applying for care credit that only covers a small portion if you even get approved for it. I feel like they are just money hungry and have no genuine compassion for animals whatsoever. They won’t begin to help a dying animal without you having to fork out hundreds of dollars right then and there. I ended up having to make a tough decision by putting my baby down since I could not afford anything else and hated to see him suffer. I was told he had no chance of surviving anyway. The one positive thing I will say is that they did allow me to grieve and stay with my kitty as long as I needed to and let me stay beside him during the euthanization. I know veterinary care is not cheap but there really should be some kind of low cost treatment options and payment plans after treatment and care is provided. Read Less

So glad they could take my dog in for an emergency! The only negative thing I can say is there is no kind of payment plan. My dog got attacked by another dog and it was $600+ for her to undergo anesthesia and get THREE stitches on her lip. I got there at 11pm and didn’t leave at until 4am. Of course I wanted to treat my dog and thank God my boyfriend had the money, but if he didn’t she would have suffered that whole time and that’s something I have a problem with. You need another payment option for emergency’s like that other than care credit. Not everyone just has $600 just Laying around. Just saying. Read Less

If I can leave a zero I would was one of the worst office visits I've ever had at any vet office. The vet couldn't tell me what a plan of care was besides let's try everything and put them on supportive care, basically let's just see if he makes it on his own and will keep him comfortable. Tech comes in the office to talk about payment and cannot answer simple questions I get frustrated and just say I want to take my dog out of here. The tech in a rude manner says sorry boy I said theyre not sorry because otherwise they would help him he leans over me standing while I'm sitting and tells me not to get an attitude with him. I stand up and tell him don't stand over me he stepped over my dog out the door and ask me if I want to take this outside I go to push the door shut he pushes it harder opening it hitting my dog so I slammed the door shut. They have the nerve to ask for payment which is ridiculous because I'm not going to go pay a place to be threatened inside the office and the tech lies and says he didn't do any of that I'm pretty sure if they check the cameras considering he was standing in the hall they can see it but will they no. If you love your animal don't take him here take him anywhere else Read Less

We had an emergency with one of our kitties and googled the closest animal hospital to take her. Fortunately Bluepearl was the first place to pop up so we called to be sure we could bring her over. Just by speaking to the staff on the phone I felt better knowing our kitty would get the treatment she needed. We walked in and the staff immediately took Alley Cat back to access her tail while we filled out paperwork. The entire staff was so welcoming and took the time to explain our options confirming we understood everything. Alley needed stiches so we were there for a little bit. Every person that walked in with their fur baby was treated the same way we were. It was an amazing staff and I was truly impressed. Check out was easy, they sent us home with medication and instructions for the next 10 to 14 days. What we did not know was even though Alley was sedated as soon as we got her out of the carrier at home she totally freaked out pulling the collar off and biting into the stiches in her tail. It was the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. So back to the hospital with a traumatized cat and 2 traumatized daughters. Lets be honest there were tears and lots of them. As we walked in the staff immediately took Alley back to see what damage was caused. The staff took care of her then took the time to show me how to put the collar on like a harness vs just around her neck. They also explained to keep her in the carrier for a few hours until she got used to the collar. The girl helping us could tell we were all pretty freaked out. She took the time to tell us how her cat went thru a similar situation and that Alleys reaction was normal but she would get used to the collar. I never felt rushed, I never felt like an interruption. We felt welcomed, cared for and left the hospital fully equipped with what we had in store for the coming 2 weeks. I can not say enough about the entire staff. They were amazing. In all of the chaos I never got the name of the girl who helped me at the front desk but she was my angel that night. Trying to keep my kids calm while they were sobbing, get my kitty fixed and not losing it myself would not have been possible without her. I would HIGHLY recommend Bluepearl to anyone who needs emergency treatment for their pets. Thank you Bluepearl for being there when we needed you!!!!! I hope I never have to come back but its good to know if I do a place like this is there. Read Less

Personally, I felt that the vet I saw YESTERDAY wasn't...I don't even know how to describe it. Like he just wanted to be in and out of there and was speaking so loud that I'm sure that if there were people in the rooms next door, they would have heard everything that he was saying. It seemed like he was trying to speak loudly so he could just say everything he needed to without being interrupted or whatever. Took my friends elderly dog in, we're guessing she's anywhere between 13-15 years old, because she has these sores that are open and oozing blood and what I'm guessing is puss. He told us that she could have Melanoma or Hemangiosarcoma. I asked if either could be seen in a blood panel, he told me no. If my schooling has taught me anything, hema refers to blood. So I did some research, you CAN in fact see at least Hemangiosarcoma through a blood sample. I double checked through various websites and my textbooks for my VETERINARY ASSISTING class. Not to mention that there are less expensive ways to determine Melanoma without requiring surgery which is the only conclusion this vet seemed to think was necessary. Needless to say, I won't be back to this business EVER. Seems like they want to meet some sort of quota or make commission, not sure how that all works but seemed like they just wanted to do the most expensive route to make some money. Not impressed at all and not very happy. Read Less

My dog was rushed to Blue Pearl after he was bit at dog camp and needed two bite wounds to be examined immediately. While I'm truly grateful they cared for him the bedside manner for me took a turn for the worse when I was told that my dog should not be allowed to be enrolled at dog camp for play indefinitely and when I asked what they were talking about proceeded to tell me that he was vicious coming into the facility and that the camp reported he attacked another dog and that was grounds for him to be uthanized. Who tells this to a person they never met over the phone? When I picked up the front desk was just blah... not welcoming not happy. The person who came out to talk to me was going mechanically through the motions of meds and they only gave me enough meds for a few days I am responsible to get meds on my own...when I called for clairification in his record I was asked if I had an actual question because they were busy with other animals and someone would call me back but no one did. Don't go here, did absolutely nothing for my pet and charged me 2000$ for services that didn't even work. Talked about cutting open my cat and giving surgery when all she needed was antibiotics. I was assured by the staff that i didn't owe anything to them when I was to have her transferred. I had her transferred over to west olive and she was promptly taken care off and her issue was remedied immediately, I also got a discount. Seems like BluePearl is in it for the money driving up the costs of your animals treatment and making sure you enroll in their carecredit. Staff is nice but their business practices are a scam, or they have such gross incompetence when it comes to their job that they just throw the kitchen sink at your animals issue and hope something works. I am very grateful to Blue Pearl and Dr. Neil. My husband and I had to bring in our year old kitten last week around midnight for an emergency visit.Tillman had received IV fluids earlier in the day from our regular vet in order to see if he was having urinary issues. After a few hours, he was howling in pain and unable to pee, with just small drips of pee across the floor. I had been reading about blockages in cats and knew it was an emergency, and even if not, he was in so much pain. I called Blue Pearl and they recommended I bring him in quickly. When I arrived they took him back immediately after explaining the situation, as they thought he may have had a blockage. They also asked that if they felt he may need pain medication, if I consented to him receiving it. They let me know upfront the fee for it, and I think it was about $30, so I said yes. I filled out paperwork and waited. Soon after I was put in a room where I met with Dr. Neil, who very clearly and patiently explained three possible things that could have been causing his urinary issue. She answered all of my questions before returning to Tillman who was much more comfortable being examined after receiving pain medication. A little bit later Dr. Neil again returned, explaining the plan of action she thought would be best for him. I felt very confident in Dr. Neil, her knowledge and that she was truly suggesting what was best in her experience. She suggested keeping him overnight so they could keep an eye on him 24/7 and determine if he needed further treatment (catheter or possible surgery if it was a blockage). They gave me a breakdown and estimate of the services, and let me know that if they did not have to do a catheter, surgery or the extra needed treatments, then I would be refunded the difference the next day. Was it cheap? No. But I didn't expect it to be with an emergency vet hospital. I can't speak to payment plans or anything like that. I was fortunate to have what I needed in savings, even if it was almost all of it. Dr. Neil called early the next day to let me know that Tillman had peed three times on his own and was doing much better. They didn't end up needing to catheterize him or keep him for the full day, and we were refunded a little over $300. We were given new medication to manage his pain and inflammation the crystals were causing so he could pee comfortably. They also faxed all of the information to our vet and gave us copies. Dr. Neil called to follow up the next day, a few days later and again today to check in on him and let us know the results of a bacterial test they did. I truly cannot say enough great things about Dr. Neil. She is kind, caring, knowledgable and experienced. I felt at ease with her and the plan she suggested and she has my trust. I felt it was important to write a thorough review on my experience as it was my first experience with an emergency vet clinic and it appears Blue Pearl doesn't have the most favorable reviews. I was truly satisfied with the care we received and I highly recommend Dr. Neil. The front desk experience wasn't outstanding or overly friendly, but it wasn't horrible. I would return here solely for Dr. Neil. Read Less

I would give them zero stars if I could. My husband found a 3 week old kitten in our backyard who looked as if she was abandoned. We waited a few hours to see if maybe the momma cat would come back but there were no signs of any cats. This poor baby was missing one eye and her tummy was covered in fleas. She was literally fur and bone so we knew she was starving. We gave her some water and a little bit of food. Just as we suspected, she ate it all up! Well, at this time, it was too late to take her to a vet or go the the pet store to get a flea kit and kitten formula, all the pet stores and vets were closed. The only place open was this clinic so I called and explained the situation. The lady, Tiffany, told me "well if the cat isn't sick, we can't do anything." Who says that?! The cat is obviously sick, missing a eye, boney and covered in fleas. We were so scared that she only had a matter of minutes. That is the ONLY reason we took her here, because we didn't want her to die in pain. We were hoping they could save her or put her out of her misery instead of her dying outside in the heat or from her conditions. Being that she was a stray, the lady wouldn't give us ANY info to if she would be okay or not. All we wanted to know is if they were able to take care of her. Tiffany was very rude. I would never suggest this place!! I regret so badly not just waiting for normal vet hours. You would think, being a vet that they'd at least have some kind of heart for the animals well being. Not this place. Or at least not that "vet" (Tiffany).Read Less

We had a wonderful experience with Blue Pearl and I am so grateful for what they have done for us. My pitbull Rado came in last week with a severe rattlesnake bite. The staff at Blue Pearl raced out to my vehicle and quickly retrieved him. He was suffering badly. He was being transferred from their other facility in Phoenix. They promptly took him to the back in triage, assessed his damages, and promptly had me in a back room talking to the amazing Dr. Travis Linney. This man is wonderful with dogs and the owners/parents of the dogs. He is kind, warm, and genuinely cares about the animals (and the family of the dogs). He is extremely knowledgeable with veterinary medicine. I am very impressed with Dr. Linney. I actually grew to like him a lot. He was really nice to me and had a great personality. Another doctor I want to mention is Dr. Katherine Smith, she is a critical care specialist. She has been absolutely wonderful with Rado. She knew exactly what to do to save his life, from the amount of medications to treating his pneumonia. She was kind and gentle with him, smart and straightforward. She is an outstanding physician with a very good bedside manner. She's also beautiful and Rado loves the pretty ladies. The last two days of Rado's stay Dr. Dana Caldwell has been caring for him. She is also an amazing doctor, very smart, kind, and sensitive. She was wonderful with assessing the issues with Rado and being very careful about his medications. She was extremely knowledgeable and very sweet to Rado (and me). I cannot say enough about this team of professionals. I have never been treated better by an emergency facility. The front desk staff has been wonderful with me. They answered all my questions, they are kind and sensitive, knowing how scared I was that Rado wasn't going to make it, Kayla and the others (too many to name all of them) comforted me when I came in and talked to me about Rado, they got the staff on the phone promptly every time I called wanting an update, and when I came to visit they got me back to Rado immediately. When Rado peed all over the lobby floor I felt so bad and they just laughed and said, "this happens all the time, don't worry about it". The nurses and techs caring for Rado 24-hours a day were amazing, they were smart and sweet, they took care of my baby like he was their own. I will never forget the love and kindness shown by the staff at this hospital. I truly did not think Rado was going to pull through this, they saved his life. They knew exactly what to do in every situation presented to them. This was not a simple snake bite. Rado had some other issues, he has Cushing's Disease, he has a thyroid issue, he has arthritis, and he's 12 on top of all of this. He is alive today because of the experts at Blue Pearl. Thank you so much to all the staff for everything you have done for the past seven days. Rado and I will never forget you.Read Less

I came in today with my puppy that was bit by a rattlesnake. Unfortunately, the start to my visit there was less than ideal. As you can imagine I was in panic mode and very upset. The front desk staff was incredibly rude! I expected to be greeted with open arms and to be reassured and made more comfortable, unfortunately I was made to feel like a bad owner, and an inconvenience to the man and woman at the front. They then began to laugh and have an irrelevant conversation instead of being compassionate that I'm not in a good state of mind and do not want to listen to them talk and laugh. Then the man asked me for my drivers licence and debit card and as I was getting it out he began to text and then I let him know I was ready to pay and he snapped at me that he needed a minute, and continued to text. The only thing that saved my visit from being an awful experience was that the vet and techs were very nice and there was a different girl at the front when I left named Hailey and she was very nice! I previously have sent a lot of business here before and I am second guessing doing it in the future because of how I was treated this morning.Read Less

Went in with a family member last night to put her pet to sleep. Had to circle around because parking was scarce out front and saw a deceased animal out back which was not covered up. The excuse is that they had been busy and didn't have time to take care of it. They had also been quite rude to said family member as they discussed her animal's euthanasia. This is the second time we had brought a pet to be put to sleep and I will agree with other reviews that say this facility will recommend extra, unneeded and pricey treatments and other options that could be done without. BE WARNED. This facility will take full advantage of your emotional distress and suggest enormously expensive courses of action to "fully treat" the emergency. You can tell they are well rehearsed in all the possible angles they can approach you with. You of course are not a vet, and your animal is sick during emergency hours...so they know they have you. We found out they recommended treatments and tests that were FAR above what was necessary for the actual emergency we had. If you can at all wait until a normal vets hours, you will be grateful. They should be ashamed of these practices, especially near Sun City where people's pets are sometimes all they have and the people can't afford to be ripped off. Read Less

I can't give any less than 1 star. I would give a negative number of stars if there was an option to do so. Critical mistakes were made and we almost lost a dog due to the doctor failing to prescribe life saving medication . Thanks to God I didn't listen to their instructions to do nothing further, and that nothing more could be done at the moment. After 800 dollars and x-ray and blood tests that were not even comprehensive, we left and went somewhere else. I am considering a lawsuit for complete negligence. A PCV of 20 is life threatening and should be veterinarian basic knowledge on what to do to treat with medication to immediately stop a dog's decline. Unconscionable. After being gone from the valley for a number of years we returned and were in need of emergency care for our beagle. We made the wrong assumption that our daughter had been using this facility for her three dogs and off we ran. He had been attacked by another dog - bleeding profusely and all injuries were in the neck area. Understanding this was an emergency room we were aware that a line of sorts would be involved and an attendant took our boy and said they would be giving him something to help him relax. Seems alright to us. We waited and waited getting periodic updates on how he was doing. The next attendant came to us with a "treatment plan" and I asked if we could see him - expecting that - short of surgery we could be with him while he was stitched up or given shots or whatever. They brought him to us and he was covered in blood - NEW blood - there was no way anyone could make a treatment plan when they never even looked at him. I asked that he be wrapped up and we took him to a doctor that would address his wounds BEFORE creating a bill for made up treatments. My daughter informed us the next day that she NEVER takes her dogs here. Lesson learned! Our boy was cared for by a real vet and mended nicely. With two other dogs in the home - I don't ever want to go through that again. If you want to know what it will cost before you get a diagnosis - this is the place - if you want treatment for your family member - think again. Read Less

Neil. Read Less

We had to make the painful decision to say goodbye to our Greyhound after he broke his leg and we learned he had osteosarcoma. It was absolutely heartbreaking and everything occurred in less than 24 hours. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have Dr. Travis Linney with us when we had to make the painful decision to end our dog's suffering. Dr. Linney has amazing bedside manner. He was compassionate, kind, and helped us feel more at peace with our difficult decision. We had never met Dr. Linney before, and given the extent of our dog's broken leg we were unable to take him to his usual veterinarian. He treated us and our Eddie as if he had known us for years. It was a heartbreaking day, but we are glad that Dr. Linney was there with us. Thank you, Dr. Linney. You have a gift and you've chosen the right profession. Your patients and their families are lucky to have you.Read Less

On the 11th my mom and I came home to our 14 year old pomeranian having trouble breathing. We took him immediately to BluePearl and they got him in the back immediately to be checked out. Unfortunately our beloved Spike had stage 4 heart failure and he was suffering. We decided to put him down. It was one of the HARDEST things my mother and I have ever had to do. Every single staff member at BluePearl was beyond understanding, caring, informative and patient. They weren't pushy about time or money or anything. It honestly felt like they genuinely cared about our handsome boy Spike as well as our family. Thank you everyone at BluePearl, from the bottom of my heart. Read Less

I brought my dog in here in a terrifying state - he had heart failure and was unable to breathe or walk. The staff attended to him immediately. I was able to sit down with his doctor shortly after he was seen to discuss options. She recommended hospitalization and said that he still had a chance of bouncing back. They not only stabilized him, but also communicated directly with his cardiologist to recommend an appropriate treatment plan for the day we got home, and the following days. Dr. Caldwell was a pleasure to work with - she definitely knows her stuff! She's a straight-shooter, but compassionate at the same time. Jesse handled the intake & financials and she has a VERY calming & kind demeanor. She goes out her way to make you comfortable, and not rush any decisions that need to be made. I'm so appreciative of the care that my dog received, and my experience working with this staff and facility. :-)Read Less

She did not even give me the vitals so i can find the best way to treat her.

Read Less
