I took my 2 year old Siamese Mix in to see the vet this morning I called 10 minutes before and they said it was $49 for an exam and to bring him in. The vet took a look at him- checked his temperature, drew blood and gave him antibiotics. The staff were so friendly and helpful and they looked at him immediately which meant a lot to us. This is my first time taking one of my cats to this office. I only needed to get a rabies shot updated for him so I can get him professionally groomed because he has long Martian Muppet fur and my poor Dyson can't keep up with him !!!Although it was just a short routine visit I had a good feeling about Dr. Montana and I also like the fact that he is an independent veterinarian office and not run by a conglomerate like many of the vet offices in North West Peoria.It is a bit of a drive for me but not that bad considering it's just a straight shot down the 101 to Peoria and I will definitely be bringing my other pets here for their medical needs from now on.Also it is a small office but very clean and good staff and customer service. Dr. Montana is a misogynist. He tried to make me feel stupid because I brought my dog in to have her teeth looked at because I thought it looked like she had cavities or gum disease. He laughed at me & told me "dogs don't get cavities". (Not true). He then laughed at me and repeated to me several times that "yeah, (chuckle chuckle) I'm sure she has cavities on both sides of her mouth at the same time, unilaterally". I don't know how he found this funny? I also asked him to look at growth on her face. Which again he tried to condescend & berate me. Not a nice man!Upon arriving at home I looked up dental cavities in dogs because I still felt my dog has some kind of dental disease. I found an article on Dental Caries in Dogs...."Dental caries is a condition in which the dental hard tissues decay as the result of oral bacteria on the tooth surface. While dental caries is not common in the domestic pet, it does occur and should be watched for. A 1988 study, reported in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry, found that 5.3 percent of dogs one year of age or older had one or more caries lesions, with 52 percent of that group having BILATERALLY SYMMETRICAL lesions. Caries can affect the crown or the roots of the teeth, and is classified as pit-and-fissure caries, smooth-surface caries, or root caries. We have come to this clinic for years because of its close proximity to our home, but after our experience this past week, we are seeking a new veterinarian . Dr. Montana's bedside manner is poor. He lacks empathy, and does not explain diagnosis well. Our senior dog was diagnosed with diabetes, he could not get it regulated within the week so he brought us in on Friday at closing time to tell us we just need to put our dog down, and his levels "well it's just not good, you need to put him down." Did not go over his insulin levels during the week, kept being told everything would be explained on Friday, and it never was. He snapped at us when we tried to ask questions to better understand. It was like being a scolded child. Very rude and spoke in a very condescending voice to us. Maybe it was a bad week for him but there is no excuse. We were rushed to make a decision, and felt like the loss of our pet was an inconvenience to them because it was closing time on a Friday. I do not recommend for pet owners of animals with more serious health issues. Acceptable for routine visits maybe. His passion has dwindled over the years. I feel that if ultimately his diagnosis was euthanasia, we should have been contacted much sooner in the day, not at closing time so we could ask those hard questions and feel confident in our decision together. Had to take my dog in on a emergency, unfortunately it was to late for my dog and there was nothing they could do for her. The staff and Dr. Montana was very helpful and understanding and respectful.

I drive all the way across town to see this Dr! Everyone on the staff is friendly and kind, and they don't nickel and dime you like some vets. They give you reasonable treatment options and their prices are affordable (all vet care is expensive, but they at least leave you feeling like you didn't get taken to the cleaners) Today I took my dog in to find out she had a bladder infection. She was a mess, so she also had her glands expressed and because I had mentioned to the Dr I was pregnant with very bad morning sickness he even cleaned her up for me afterwards so I didn't have to go home and deal with it. I can't express how thoughtful that was of him and his assistant! This is just the type of reason why I will continue to drive 45 minutes out of my way to see someone who doesn't rip you off, AND cares about his clients (both human and animal). Love this place! Best vet ever. They take great care of pets we take four dogs here for the past 11 year's. Some people say bad things about doctor Montana and they are not true. Try them out for your selves don't believe everything you read. I can only see him getting mad if you are rude and neglect your pet. They are the best and most kind people I have ever went to. In the 35+ years that I've owned both dogs and cats, and of all the vets I've visited in 4 different states, Montana is without a doubt the absolutely, unquestionably WORST veterinarian I've ever had the displeasure to come contact with. My 14 year old cat developed hot spots all over his head and paws. Montana said that the cat needed to be on antidepressant medication. I asked him about this medication, and he actually yelled at me, telling me he didn't know anything about the (basic) question I asked him. He is the rudest, and least informed vet who had the worst bedside manner of any vet I've ever known.He also handled my very sweet kitty far too roughly.I took my cat to another vet the following week, who referred me to a veterinary allergist, who helped cat immensely. The allergist could not believe that Montana recommended an antidepressant medication for my cat without doing ANY kind of testing for what was causing the hot spots.Please do not take any animal that you love to this completely inept veterinarian. I drive 30 minutes across town to see Dr.Montana because he is such a great Vet! I've been going to him for years. There are a couple ladies that have been there as long as I've been going and they're wonderful too. Unfortunately, I had to put my first dog down which was one of the hardest and most painful things I went through. Dr.Montana had treated him since he was a puppy and I definitely trusted his judgment and appreciated his kindness and helping me make this difficult decision. I just picked up my dogs ashes today and although it was very sad, I was very pleased with the company they used to cremate him and got his ashes back in a beautiful cedar box with a lock and heart tag engraved with his name. There are many vets within a mile of my home but I prefer Dr.Montana and he is well worth the drive! I never question his judgment when treating my dogs and feel that his pricing is fair and he never makes extravagant recommendations. He is the best! Read Less

I can't begin to say enough kind words about the staff and Dr. Montana! My daughter and I went in to put our poor cat down and they were beyond kind and understanding. When you're in this situation you don't want to be told that you will have to pay additional fees (i.e. New patient fees) when the only services I need are euthanasia, that's a slap in the face! This office doesn't do that to you, they charge an appropriate fee and have compassion for the situation. I 100% will go back here for my pets. Read Less

I love this vet! I have been going to this office since I moved to Arizona almost 3 years ago, I take all my pets there. They are extremely welcoming and always willing to help. They are not stupid expensive like some vets are so it makes me feel like I can actually pay for things my animals needs. I call in from time to time to ask questions about different things if I'm not sure how to handle a situation and the front desk staff is always super helpful and every time they give me sound advice that always seems to work. I trust them completely with my animals. Today was another perfect example of that. I brought in my 1.5 year old dog and my 8 week old puppy ( because that was a smart idea on my part lol) and they were once again super helpful walked my dog in the room for me while I held the puppy. I even at one point handed the puppy over to the front desk girl ( I wish I knew her name her helps me every time, younger girl) so I could go through my bag to pay lol. When I see the doctor he relates to my situations every time which is nice because it makes you realize he truly loves what he does. I thought Dr. Montana was a good vet that cares... until recently.I took my 2 dogs in because they were itching incessantly and had these little scabs and red spots all over. I thought they had mange, but when I got to the vet he told me they didn't have mange and that it was allergies. I thought, why ALL OF A SUDDEN would they BOTH have allergies when we've lived in AZ for 2 years? But I couldn't explain it, I'm not a vet, so I took the recommendation of giving them cortisone shots and went on my way. He said the itching would stop in a couple of hours and when it didn't it had me worried. The shots weren't working so what could it be?? I decided to check them again and upon further 'thorough' inspection I found that they were both COVERED in ticks!! I pulled about 30 off of them! WHY did the vet not check for ticks?? Why was this not caught?? How could he diagnose them with allergies when he obviously didn't provide a thorough exam?? I was outraged!! Not only did I pay $150 for shots that weren't needed I had to completely tear apart my house a few days later because not only were ticks on the dogs, they were everywhere!! I had a professional pest company come spray and also treated the dogs with Frontline - another $200 bucks!I called their offices asking for a refund for the shots and was told that they wouldn't do that because the Dr. didn't find any ticks. No shit!! Because he didn't check properly! Gr, I'm so mad!I also mentioned that one of my dogs teeth were very bad and that he had a strong foul odor coming out of his mouth and he didn't do or recommend anything for him! Since then he has lost a tooth and isn't eating normally. Poor guy!! Come to find out, after my own research, it looks as though he has periodontal disease and needs treatment! I will be taking him to a new vet on Saturday. Hopefully, they will be able to help right away! These are my babies and I will not tolerate anyone being so careless!! Shame on you!! Read Less

Dr. Montana has been our vet for several years. Unfortunately he had to euthanize one of my dogs and a few weeks later, I received a letter from Colorado State University that Dr. Montana had personally made a donation to the school in my beloved dogs name. How awesome is that? There is a special place in heaven for Veterinarians and I believe Dr. Montana is truly an angel. I have had dogs my entire life so I've been to my fair share of vets. Dr. Montana is the first vet I have ever been to where I felt he was completely honest and not looking to nickel and dime with various diagnostics that wouldn't really affect the type of treatment we would choose. When my dog of 14 years was diagnosed with lymphoma, Dr. Montana called me at home with the results and gave me all my options and really talked me through what was devastating diagnosis. When we decided not to do chemo and just keep my boy happy for his time left with us, Dr. Montana actually made me feel so at peace with our decision. The staff at West Olive is also so caring and very accommodating. Many times I have called and they tell me they can get me in that day. They truly care about my dogs and I will recommend Dr. Montana and his staff to ANYONE!!! Read Less
