The staff at this clinic is wonderful. From the moment my puppy and I called for the first appointment to the initial visit meeting Dr Jenkins, I knew we had found the perfect vet for our new puppy. We boarded him in the kennels for 5 days while on vacation, and I was so incredibly pleased when I picked him up. The caregivers complemented him on his behavior and said they looked forward to seeing us again. My puppy was incredibly relaxed and happy- no stress at all. The ladies at the front desk are always such a pleasure to speak with, and Gerry the kennel manager is the kindest person. I highly recommend all services in this clinic!

The front desk staff were nice. Thats where the positive things ended. We got in the back room 10 min after our appt, which was fine. The tech didn't seem to know how to handle the rabbit because he almost jumped off the table. He tells us the vet has 2 rooms before us. 30 min after our appt the vet comes in and he does apologize for the wait. We get the rabbit on the table and he is handling him just fine. He asked about his food and if he's kept inside or outside. It's inside. The vet says he must take him in the back to remove hair to look at him better. Now we left his hair this way so the vet could see what was happening. When he comes back no more than 10 min, he says he doesn't know the cause, but will give us 2 meds. We have several questions, and we did ask some, but we had the feeling of being rushed. We wait a little more and a different person comes back with 3 meds. So over an hour later, we get our $190 bill! We were quoted $56 over the phone. To remove a piece of hair near his chin was around $45! Are you kidding me? We will not be back! We felt rushed once we finally saw the vet and then were way over charged. Please be aware of your bill! So disappointed.

If I could give this place a negative rating I would. Took my extremely sick dog to this pet hospital and before the vet even mentioned options on trying to make my dog better, he insisted we should just put him down and not try anything else. All he mentioned was putting my dog down 10 plus times. My dog has yet to get any better and they don't return phone calls or call you back to tell you test result. I would never take another animal here.

Our dog had a wound that got infected. Almost immediately he wasn't eating and in tremendous pain. Our vet wasn't open and the Animal Hospital got great reviews on line. AACH got us in right away and got Boomer out of pain immediately. They cleaned the wound and were extremely loving towards him. They let us know everything that was happening step by step. They also did not try to up sell us on any unnecessary procedures. The Doctor was extraordinary. The front office ladies are always so happy and kind every time you visit and they always love on the animals. Because of how warm, kind, and resonable they are we switched our vet and now only go to Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital. We highly recommend them!

Yesterday we took our sweet dog, Maggy, in for the hardest appointment of all - to free her from her limitations and send her to heaven. It was time, but still, it was so sad for our family. The staff reassured our decision and made so many kind gestures that made a difficult day a little easier on us. They offered our pup yummy treats, asked for payment at the beginning so we could leave as soon as we finished up, explained every detail throughout the entire process and offered us warm hugs and kind words as we left. It was actually an intimate and beautiful experience for us as a family to gently send her off with kisses, pictures, hugs and prayers. They also reassured us her body would be treated with dignity once we left. We want to offer them our heartfelt gratitude for their care and concern. If you want to restore your faith in humanity, hang out with people who love animals!

when my baby Pili had a stroke in 2014, the people at this hospital were extremely nice to me, understanding that it was a hard time and calling me constantly letting me know what was going on with him, they where very warm and compassionate. When the choice was made to put him to sleep it was very hard but thanks to them I knew everything that couldve been done was done. Months later I received a letter from Kansas university letting me know that this hospital had sent a donation in my babys name, and his name would be put in a book. Everytime I see this letter it makes me very grateful for the care they took of us and how they continued to care even when we left. Thank you very much for this

In the rush to move out of state I forgot to make arrangements with my regular vet to get health certificates for my two dogs so that they could travel on the plane. My regular vet was on vacation and I needed to find someone close to us that could accommodate our need. I called Ahwatukee Animal Care and explained my dilemma. They took some information over the phone at 5:30pm and I was able to get an appointment for the following day. The staff and doctor were so friendly and answered all my questions. I wish I had found them before I had to move out of state! I would have left my old vet and joined their family! Thank you so much for helping us out in a pinch!

If there was a minus one, that is what would apply here. Small history of me. I have 6 animals, all who have vet care on a regular basis. I spare no money when it comes to their care. Organic food, shots up to date and anything that comes up in the meantime. This is supposedly an exotic animal vet. I have been there with 2 dogs previously. Each time was without incident but no real diagnosis. A lot of could be's.Today I called in to find out if they do beak trims on parrots. They do, so I asked pricing and booked an appointment after they told me $25-35. When I go in for my appointment, they say to me, "ok how are we going to do this?" I am sure at this point I have a blank look on my face. They wanted to take him in a back room, where I would not be allowed in. I explain to them that he will be much better with me in the room, since he will not even step up on a strangers arm. I have had this procedure done many times before. Always present in the room. So the girls go talk to Doc. (who never shows himself to me this day). They come back to let me know it's going to be $55 because it is now a visit. I say....ok that's fine, I will pay. The girls leave to tell him that I am willing to pay the fee. When they came back from speaking to him that time, the price was now over $100 plus taxes. Absolutely ridiculous! The going price for a beak trim with a visit is $45-50. I will be reporting this to the BBB.

I recently moved to Phoenix with my three dogs. They have all had to be seen by a vet for various reasons and I did not care for any of the vets I tried. They seemed more concerned about payment, rather than the health of my furry loved ones. A new neighbor of mine told me that he takes his fur babies to Ahwahtukee Animal Care, so I went. I was so happy with all the love and attention they got from all the staff, from the front desk to the vet tech to the vets. They are my permanent doggie doctors now!
Oh! I called ahead on two occasions for a quote, when my visits were done, they were both cheaper than the quote. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

Dr. Herczegh and Dr. Jenkins are very knowledgeable and caring. They've always been willing and able to answer all my questions. They tend to recommend conservative treatment approaches rather than jumping straight to the most expensive thing. When my kitty was having behavioral problems, Dr. Jenkins admitted it wasn't his specialty and chose to refer me to a specialist to make sure my cat would get the best care, even though it meant taking my business elsewhere for that treatment. He even called around to his colleagues to make sure he was referring me to a good specialist.I also love that they are able to accommodate emergencies during business hours. On several occasions I have called asking them to fit me in because my dog ate chocolate or my cat was vomiting and lethargic. Fast treatment at regular prices. My cat would not be alive without them. Dr. Herczegh did emergency surgery on my him!The only thing I'm not really a fan of is their boarding service. It seems okay for low maintenance pets (I'm okay with boarding my dog here), but my kitty is high maintenance and I felt like they didn't follow all of my instructions for him.

We had been coming to Animal Care Hospital for over 5 years. Our last visit is definitely our last. Turned from helping us diagnose our dogs sickness to a very pushy sales pitch of their special diet food. Instead of slowly speaking and allowing us time to write down the ailments the doctor rambled about how sick she will become throwing out lots of terms and instead of actually hearing what it was we had concerns over he just pushed his product. Was completely dissatisfied. We were charged for a second test with out prior knowledge and have had mix treatment by office staff where depending on the dollar amounts they treat you differently.
Do not recommend them. Will not be back.

I've been bringing my 2 poms here for years. Dr Jenkins is amazing and is very thorough and takes the time to explain things & answer my questions. The staff is always friendly and know all of us by name. Over the last 2 months both dogs had issues and needed to get in there ASAP due to me having to go out of town. Without skipping a beat they were able to get us in to see the Dr. within the hour - which i greatly appreciated. I would not even consider going anywhere else!

It was 5 pm on a Friday and my iguana needed medical attention. The reptile hospital would take him but it was over 200. So I called Ahwatukee Animal Hospital. They got us right in and for a fraction of the price. So grateful for these guys. They also got my cat right in on a Saturday morning. The staff and vets are very kind and their rates are very reasonable and they don't charge an arm and a leg. This hospital is a gift for our area. I highly recommend!

When it comes to a vet, we all must learn to he patient with, and understand that, the front desk and techs have very stressful jobs. There will be times, at any and every vet office that these people will have bad days. But, for the most part, they are there because they love animals and want to the best for your pets...With that said, I am writing this review solely based on my dog's vet, Dr. Hertzig. I have bringing my pitbull-mix here since I found her as a stray, almost four years now.When I first started going, it was because it was close to my house. I moved quite a bit away about two years ago, and I keep bringing my dog here because I believe in Dr Hertzig, and she is a very calm and comfortable doctor. She seems to really care for my dog, and is very easy to talk with and be around. She doesn't push me to do things I don't need for my dog, and is overall a very nice person on top of being a good doctor.I would recommend anyone new to the area, or looking for a new vet, try meeting Dr Hertzig, and see for yourself how well she will work for you and your pet.

I gave them one star because their only saving grace was that they had Saturday hours and could get me in pretty quickly. However, when I brought my cat home from a tooth extraction I noticed that they had left his catheter in his leg. I had to go to an after hours animal hospital to have it safely removed. When they (AAC) sent us home from the tooth extraction they said they had run out of pain meds and to come back the next day. When we came back they told us that 1) the pain meds that were to be administered every 12 hours wouldn't be in until an unknown time and 2) that the vaccines my cat was supposed to receive were over looked and never given. I wouldn't even trust them to care for a pet rock.Totally disgusted!

I've had a few dogs treated here at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital from everything to ACL surgery to annual check ups for years. But my most recent visit proved to me once again why I keep coming back. My girlfriend's dog was 13 and had not been seen by the care hospital before but on this particular morning he had taken a turn for the worse and needed to be evaluated and diagnosed. Our main concern was that he might need to be put down in order to end his suffering.I called the care hospital as soon as they opened at 8 and they were able to see the dog at 9:15. Right away, they weighed our dog and got him a room. The admin staff, the techs and the vet were all very attentive, understanding, and kind. They were honest without being rude and never rushed us or pushed to influence a particular decision. In a time when emotions can run high it's nice to know vets like the care hospital are professional and caring. I'm going to continue to take my other old dog to the care hospital. I want them to be familiar with her when she has to pass on. But I take comfort in the fact that I can rely on her vet to take care of her and handle the important moments.

They got me and my sick kitty in right way as a walk-in. The vet-tech was fantastic I have never seen my cat respond to a "stranger" the way she did to the very gentle tech. The Vet was the same way, very gentile and caring. They took her back and got her started on treatment and even trimmed her nails for me (she won't let me touch her feet). The vet called me promptly the next day with the results of her test and that what he did the previous day should take care of the problem. She is feeling and acting like her normal self. I will be going there again with all my animals.

I have mixed emotions about this office. I will never take my animals here again, however Dr. Jenkins was very sympathetic and tried help my 4yr old Lab. Her original vet was Dr. Herczegh and she basically mis-diagnosed my dog. After TWO AND HALF yrs on Prednisone (sp?) for allergies I decided to go for a second opinion. She was diagnosed with Addison's disease, which was initiated by too much steroid!! Took her to see Dr. Jenkins next. He was shocked at her appearance and health condition, but by then it was too late. I was already hundrends of dollars into this office and no remedy insight. Needless to say my Lab had to be put down. She was skeletal and hairless.....her life shortened by the original treatment. I agree the staff is very 'teen-age' and not very caring. But Dr. Jenkins was great! I can't forgive the original Dr. so that's why I will never go here again.

Dog should not have leaked bloody liquid for 2 weeks after procedure. Staff was uncooperative and rude. Owner never able to talk directly with Vet. for answer to questions.

The staff at this clinic is wonderful. From the moment my puppy and I called for the first appointment to the initial visit meeting Dr Jenkins, I knew we had found the perfect vet for our new puppy. We boarded him in the kennels for 5 days while on vacation, and I was so incredibly pleased when I picked him up. The caregivers complemented him on his behavior and said they looked forward to seeing us again. My puppy was incredibly relaxed and happy- no stress at all. The ladies at the front desk are always such a pleasure to speak with, and Gerry the kennel manager is the kindest person. I highly recommend all services in this clinic!

Only went here because we have a rabbit. The rabbit seemed to have a skin infection, so that was the reason for our visit. We arrived 10 minutes before our appointment. The front desk staff were nice. Thats where the positive things ended. We got in the back room 10 min after our appt, which was fine. The tech didn't seem to know how to handle the rabbit because he almost jumped off the table. He tells us the vet has 2 rooms before us. 30 min after our appt the vet comes in and he does apologize for the wait. We get the rabbit on the table and he is handling him just fine. He asked about his food and if he's kept inside or outside. It's inside. The vet says he must take him in the back to remove hair to look at him better. Now we left his hair this way so the vet could see what was happening. When he comes back no more than 10 min, he says he doesn't know the cause, but will give us 2 meds. We have several questions, and we did ask some, but we had the feeling of being rushed. We wait a little more and a different person comes back with 3 meds. So over an hour later, we get our $190 bill! We were quoted $56 over the phone. To remove a piece of hair near his chin was around $45! Are you kidding me? We will not be back! We felt rushed once we finally saw the vet and then were way over charged. Please be aware of your bill! So disappointed.

Took my extremely sick dog to this pet hospital and before the vet even mentioned options on trying to make my dog better, he insisted we should just put him down and not try anything else. All he mentioned was putting my dog down 10 plus times. My dog has yet to get any better and they don't return phone calls or call you back to tell you test result. I would never take another animal here.

Our dog had a wound that got infected. Almost immediately he wasn't eating and in tremendous pain. Our vet wasn't open and the Animal Hospital got great reviews on line. AACH got us in right away and got Boomer out of pain immediately. They cleaned the wound and were extremely loving towards him. They let us know everything that was happening step by step. They also did not try to up sell us on any unnecessary procedures. The Doctor was extraordinary. The front office ladies are always so happy and kind every time you visit and they always love on the animals. Because of how warm, kind, and resonable they are we switched our vet and now only go to Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital. We highly recommend them!

Yesterday we took our sweet dog, Maggy, in for the hardest appointment of all - to free her from her limitations and send her to heaven. It was time, but still, it was so sad for our family. The staff reassured our decision and made so many kind gestures that made a difficult day a little easier on us. They offered our pup yummy treats, asked for payment at the beginning so we could leave as soon as we finished up, explained every detail throughout the entire process and offered us warm hugs and kind words as we left. It was actually an intimate and beautiful experience for us as a family to gently send her off with kisses, pictures, hugs and prayers. They also reassured us her body would be treated with dignity once we left. We want to offer them our heartfelt gratitude for their care and concern. If you want to restore your faith in humanity, hang out with people who love animals!

when my baby Pili had a stroke in 2014, the people at this hospital were extremely nice to me, understanding that it was a hard time and calling me constantly letting me know what was going on with him, they where very warm and compassionate. When the choice was made to put him to sleep it was very hard but thanks to them I knew everything that couldve been done was done. Months later I received a letter from Kansas university letting me know that this hospital had sent a donation in my babys name, and his name would be put in a book. Everytime I see this letter it makes me very grateful for the care they took of us and how they continued to care even when we left. Thank you very much for this

In the rush to move out of state I forgot to make arrangements with my regular vet to get health certificates for my two dogs so that they could travel on the plane. My regular vet was on vacation and I needed to find someone close to us that could accommodate our need. I called Ahwatukee Animal Care and explained my dilemma. They took some information over the phone at 5:30pm and I was able to get an appointment for the following day. The staff and doctor were so friendly and answered all my questions. I wish I had found them before I had to move out of state! I would have left my old vet and joined their family! Thank you so much for helping us out in a pinch!

If there was a minus one, that is what would apply here. Small history of me. I have 6 animals, all who have vet care on a regular basis. I spare no money when it comes to their care. Organic food, shots up to date and anything that comes up in the meantime. This is supposedly an exotic animal vet. I have been there with 2 dogs previously. Each time was without incident but no real diagnosis. A lot of could be's.Today I called in to find out if they do beak trims on parrots. They do, so I asked pricing and booked an appointment after they told me $25-35. When I go in for my appointment, they say to me, "ok how are we going to do this?" I am sure at this point I have a blank look on my face. They wanted to take him in a back room, where I would not be allowed in. I explain to them that he will be much better with me in the room, since he will not even step up on a strangers arm. I have had this procedure done many times before. Always present in the room. So the girls go talk to Doc. (who never shows himself to me this day). They come back to let me know it's going to be $55 because it is now a visit. I say....ok that's fine, I will pay. The girls leave to tell him that I am willing to pay the fee. When they came back from speaking to him that time, the price was now over $100 plus taxes. Absolutely ridiculous! The going price for a beak trim with a visit is $45-50. I will be reporting this to the BBB.

I recently moved to Phoenix with my three dogs. They have all had to be seen by a vet for various reasons and I did not care for any of the vets I tried. They seemed more concerned about payment, rather than the health of my furry loved ones. A new neighbor of mine told me that he takes his fur babies to Ahwahtukee Animal Care, so I went. I was so happy with all the love and attention they got from all the staff, from the front desk to the vet tech to the vets. They are my permanent doggie doctors now!
Oh! I called ahead on two occasions for a quote, when my visits were done, they were both cheaper than the quote. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

Dr. Herczegh and Dr. Jenkins are very knowledgeable and caring. They've always been willing and able to answer all my questions. They tend to recommend conservative treatment approaches rather than jumping straight to the most expensive thing. When my kitty was having behavioral problems, Dr. Jenkins admitted it wasn't his specialty and chose to refer me to a specialist to make sure my cat would get the best care, even though it meant taking my business elsewhere for that treatment. He even called around to his colleagues to make sure he was referring me to a good specialist.I also love that they are able to accommodate emergencies during business hours. On several occasions I have called asking them to fit me in because my dog ate chocolate or my cat was vomiting and lethargic. Fast treatment at regular prices. My cat would not be alive without them. Dr. Herczegh did emergency surgery on my him!The only thing I'm not really a fan of is their boarding service. It seems okay for low maintenance pets (I'm okay with boarding my dog here), but my kitty is high maintenance and I felt like they didn't follow all of my instructions for him.

My experience here was outstanding. My 17 year old cat was miserable and declining fast, and I came in to have her checked and to consider the worst. The staff was so caring, kind and gentle. The end came for my sweet cat, and it was done with such care and professionalism. We won't go anywhere else for our future vet needs.

We had been coming to Animal Care Hospital for over 5 years. Our last visit is definitely our last. Turned from helping us diagnose our dogs sickness to a very pushy sales pitch of their special diet food. Instead of slowly speaking and allowing us time to write down the ailments the doctor rambled about how sick she will become throwing out lots of terms and instead of actually hearing what it was we had concerns over he just pushed his product. Was completely dissatisfied. We were charged for a second test with out prior knowledge and have had mix treatment by office staff where depending on the dollar amounts they treat you differently.
Do not recommend them. Will not be back.

I've been bringing my 2 poms here for years. Dr Jenkins is amazing and is very thorough and takes the time to explain things & answer my questions. The staff is always friendly and know all of us by name. Over the last 2 months both dogs had issues and needed to get in there ASAP due to me having to go out of town. Without skipping a beat they were able to get us in to see the Dr. within the hour - which i greatly appreciated. I would not even consider going anywhere else!

I have 7 cats and a dog. I have been bringing my animals here for years. The vets are terrific especially Dr. Jenkins. He is kind and caring and always explains everything thoroughly and answers all my questions. The staff is great. I've also boarded my furkids here. I never feel rushed like I do at my own doctor's office. Altogether a wonderful experience when you need your best friend taken care of.

It was 5 pm on a Friday and my iguana needed medical attention. The reptile hospital would take him but it was over 200. So I called Ahwatukee Animal Hospital. They got us right in and for a fraction of the price. So grateful for these guys. They also got my cat right in on a Saturday morning. The staff and vets are very kind and their rates are very reasonable and they don't charge an arm and a leg. This hospital is a gift for our area. I highly recommend!

When it comes to a vet, we all must learn to he patient with, and understand that, the front desk and techs have very stressful jobs. There will be times, at any and every vet office that these people will have bad days. But, for the most part, they are there because they love animals and want to the best for your pets...With that said, I am writing this review solely based on my dog's vet, Dr. Hertzig. I have bringing my pitbull-mix here since I found her as a stray, almost four years now.When I first started going, it was because it was close to my house. I moved quite a bit away about two years ago, and I keep bringing my dog here because I believe in Dr Hertzig, and she is a very calm and comfortable doctor. She seems to really care for my dog, and is very easy to talk with and be around. She doesn't push me to do things I don't need for my dog, and is overall a very nice person on top of being a good doctor.I would recommend anyone new to the area, or looking for a new vet, try meeting Dr Hertzig, and see for yourself how well she will work for you and your pet.

I gave them one star because their only saving grace was that they had Saturday hours and could get me in pretty quickly. However, when I brought my cat home from a tooth extraction I noticed that they had left his catheter in his leg. I had to go to an after hours animal hospital to have it safely removed. When they (AAC) sent us home from the tooth extraction they said they had run out of pain meds and to come back the next day. When we came back they told us that 1) the pain meds that were to be administered every 12 hours wouldn't be in until an unknown time and 2) that the vaccines my cat was supposed to receive were over looked and never given. I wouldn't even trust them to care for a pet rock.Totally disgusted!

I've had a few dogs treated here at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital from everything to ACL surgery to annual check ups for years. But my most recent visit proved to me once again why I keep coming back. My girlfriend's dog was 13 and had not been seen by the care hospital before but on this particular morning he had taken a turn for the worse and needed to be evaluated and diagnosed. Our main concern was that he might need to be put down in order to end his suffering.I called the care hospital as soon as they opened at 8 and they were able to see the dog at 9:15. Right away, they weighed our dog and got him a room. The admin staff, the techs and the vet were all very attentive, understanding, and kind. They were honest without being rude and never rushed us or pushed to influence a particular decision. In a time when emotions can run high it's nice to know vets like the care hospital are professional and caring. I'm going to continue to take my other old dog to the care hospital. I want them to be familiar with her when she has to pass on. But I take comfort in the fact that I can rely on her vet to take care of her and handle the important moments.

They got me and my sick kitty in right way as a walk-in. The vet-tech was fantastic I have never seen my cat respond to a "stranger" the way she did to the very gentle tech. The Vet was the same way, very gentile and caring. They took her back and got her started on treatment and even trimmed her nails for me (she won't let me touch her feet). The vet called me promptly the next day with the results of her test and that what he did the previous day should take care of the problem. She is feeling and acting like her normal self. I will be going there again with all my animals.

I have mixed emotions about this office. I will never take my animals here again, however Dr. Jenkins was very sympathetic and tried help my 4yr old Lab. Her original vet was Dr. Herczegh and she basically mis-diagnosed my dog. After TWO AND HALF yrs on Prednisone (sp?) for allergies I decided to go for a second opinion. She was diagnosed with Addison's disease, which was initiated by too much steroid!! Took her to see Dr. Jenkins next. He was shocked at her appearance and health condition, but by then it was too late. I was already hundrends of dollars into this office and no remedy insight. Needless to say my Lab had to be put down. She was skeletal and hairless.....her life shortened by the original treatment. I agree the staff is very 'teen-age' and not very caring. But Dr. Jenkins was great! I can't forgive the original Dr. so that's why I will never go here again.

Female dog was spayed and sent home without a cone-when dog licked herself because she was leaking. dog owner was told that she should have gone to petsmart to buy a cone. Dog should not have leaked bloody liquid for 2 weeks after procedure. Staff was uncooperative and rude. Owner never able to talk directly with Vet. for answer to questions.

I love the Ahwatukee Animal Hospital. They are always so friendly and helpful. Dr. Jenkins couldn't be more helpful and sensitive. Would highly recommend!
