Absolutely the most lovely staff. The doctor is as personable and knowledgable and straight up as can be. My chihuahua Pinky was a rescue with many issues I wasn't expecting, but the Docs at Animal Care Hospital explained everything in detail, gave me advice and were there for questions almost 24/7. She had surgery and was home the same day and is now the happiest dog with more energy than I thought she would ever have. When my stepson's dog injured his paw,  I was so relieved that they were willing and able to fit him in for care early the next morning. They were kind, professional, and took great care of the little guy, who was happily running and playing half an hour later. My friend had recommended this practice, and I am so glad she did. Dr. Halver is one of the most dedicated and caring veterinarians I've met. He took the time to thoroughly do a physical examination of my cat and explained in detail what he was doing. After lab work he called and spent a good 10 minutes or so explaining what was going on and how we would treat Ali. Unlike some other vets I've visited, he is conservative in treatment options. They have supported me thru pet illness and loss, offered sensible information for making decisions for pet health and were willing to participate in a self-pay feral cat "trap, neuter and release" effort during a local population explosion . Thorough diagnostics and reporting. Drs. Bishop, Temple, and Halver have each worked with us on three separate difficult cases over the years. Their persistence at getting to the root of your pet's health, their skill and insight for diagnostics and finding the proper avenue for treatment, and their communication with the patient at any level of detail, sets this clinic staff apart from any other team in the valley. Chose VERY wisely who takes care of your pet in this facility. My pet haven't had a problem going there, and in fact was almost looking forward to get out of the house even if it meant to go there for a rather painful treatment. That is until the person who usually takes care of our animals was off. Thereafter big lament as soon as the pet carrier was presented, and the until then smooth recovery, took turn for the bad. In the end our pet got well but... TIP - if you need something more than just a shot for your baby, stick with the vet techs instead of the assistants. The assistants I dealt with don't have much clue about anything, needless to say I felt they completely lack compassion for our animal.... Also, don't expect any refund if your pet does not react well to certain medication. Read Less

We have moved very recently to Phoenix with our four years old cat named Garnacha. He presented a sudden bladder obstruction and we ended in this pet hospital without any references or recommendations. I have to say that we are thankful of finding this place with very good people focussed on pets health and wellbeing. Dr. Halver took immediate care of my cat, he is experienced, compassionate and one of my favorite things, he explained me from A to Z the procedures and after my cat hospitalization how to take care of him from now on. I had an appointment with AAWL for a kitten checkup and some starter vaccines. I was running late and called them no less than a dozen times in 30 minutes. They didn't answer so I just showed up late. A $12 Uber ride and 15 minutes later, after completing paperwork, they informed me I couldn't be seen. Infuriated, I called the Animal Care Hospital and they had an opening at 5 p.m. to see Dr. Halver. I brought my kitten in, waited to see if I could be seen earlier as they said any cancellations would get me in sooner, but end up being seen at 5. The doctor was very informative, very helpful, honest, and realistic with the costs of the vaccines and was interested in helping me break up my payments. When a vet does not push for yearly vaccines, I'm not only happy for my wallet but also happy for my animals. Animals can go up to seven years without vaccines, and science has proven in many cases yearly vaccines can actually damage the liver and cause an early death. The doctor let me know that after his booster shots, Sir Bowie would be able to go 3 years without a vaccine. Additionally, they gave me a breakdown of the cost of getting him neutered, which is very cheap compared to other hospitals or vet clinics in the area. I'm very happy with the service, and the doctor was able to answer all questions that I had. I was in and out of the actual appointment within 35 minutes, and my kitten seemed to have a fairly pleasant experience considering my other cats absolutely adore abhor going to the vet. I don't know how many years I've used Animal Care Hospital? Almost ten years I'm sure. I've almost always seen Dr. Temple, though I have seen Dr. Bishop a couple times. I LOVE Dr. Temple, she is the best. She was so great when we had to put our dog down and since then we now have three dogs. She takes great care of our fur family. I always recommend ACH! Read Less

I cannot recommend this vet enough. Dr Temple is amazing! My poor boy had to get surgery and her amount of care is unparalleled. She was quick acting but never made me feel pressured. I never felt like they were trying to take advantage of me and do unnecessary tests for money. Even though i was an emotional mess she helped to assure me not to panic until need be, and she would let me know when that "need be" would be. She stayed late with him and called in early (before she was even at work) to check on my boy. All the techs and front desk folks are just as excellent. I've tested a few different vets around the valley and this one was recommended to me by a friend and for good reason. They're so caring and efficient! The health, safety, and well being of my pet is their first priority, but it doesn't hurt that they're all so nice and welcoming. Dr Temple is so fantastic and genuinely cares about my pet and shows excitement every time she sees him. They allow you to just walk in and give a quick update if there's something they were concerned with at an appointment. Highly recommend. Read Less

During that time and since my retirement as a breeder, I have been continually impressed by the professional standards and the obvious love of animals shown by doctors and staff alike. But that is not all. There is not a time when the quality of the people who work at Animal Care Hospital is more visible than when there are difficult decisions to be made concerning the animals entrusted with their care. When serious illness or the end of life is at hand, the doctors and staff at Animal Care Hospital give the very best of themselves to help animal and owner get through the difficult times. This includes giving the owner the latest factual advice concerning the prognosis and treatment of the animals and helping the owner through the inevitable heartbreak when there is no hope for the pet's recovery. I went in a little ago for an emergency. My dog had been bit and was in serious condition. He was dying in my hands. They took my emergency quickly but then told by the vet that we would have to put him down. So I said okay and as they were leaving to put him down I asked if I could watch and say goodbye and they told me no. Just no. After being very sad about not saying goodbye or even seeing him before he left I got "alone" time with his body. They kept walking in and asking for money repeatedly as I was having my last "goodbyes". The only lady I appreciated in that clinic was the nice girl that took my dog away to get him cremated. She was so gentle with him and nice to me. Today I went to get his ashes expecting a nice box with a nice paw print that I had asked for. They spelled my name wrong on all of the papers but I was fine with that. They gave me the ashes with an unbaked clay paw print that they had customized with hearts. I asked why they didn't bake it and they said so I can customize it and bake it myself but there was no room for me to even do anything on it. Not only that but I'm like 99% sure that the paw print they have given me is not my dog's paw print. He was a chihuahua and the paw print is much larger than one of a chihuahua. Also after paying so much money I was expecting a pretty box but the box they gave me was a huge black plastic box much larger than the actual ashes inside. Inside the black box is a tiny brown paper bag resembling a lunch bag. I didn't pay all that money for my dog to be put in a lunch sack. Read Less

There are two bad recent reviews. I do not believe these belong to THIS Animal Care Hospital in Lafayette, LA. I do not recognize anything they are talking about. Fees are not the same as this group of fine fine people. That said, I have been using Animal Care Hospital for 4 years now. So many animals I have brought here. Some are still with me and some have gone on to other homes. I love my critters and I have never had a problem with anyone who works here. To the contrary! Everyone is wonderful and all of them love animals. Especially Dr. Guidry. He will take a lot of time to explain everything you need to know about any issue your little 4-legger is having. He has so much empathy for critters of all sorts. And, Dr. Mike hates to see one of his patients suffer. He will do anything to help get our kiddos back up to feeling perky. This group of fine people are so dedicated. They call you to see how your little one is doing (or your big Great Dane if that's what you have). I have had 4-legged kiddos all my life and have lived all over the country and have never had this kind of care I have received for them before. Ever! One of the other Vets in Abbeville had my dog wrapped up in a towel before she would examine him. Ugh! He doesn't like Vets but he likes Dr. Guidry. This is an amazing Veterinary office. The staff is friendly and professional and the doctors are kind, understanding and knowledgeable. Now that I've found these vets I'll never take my pets anywhere else. My dogs are tiny and need to be comfortable and to feel safe. Unlike the other veterinarian offices we've been to, my dogs didn't act like they even missed me when I picked them up. They really like the staff members. Should I feel jealous? Also, they are wonderful at keeping me up to date on her needed vaccinations and meds. I have been taking my pets to Animal Care Hospital for 23 years. It used to be a place where you felt the love of animals when you walked in the door. Recently ALL the old staff quit (says something about what has gone on behind the scenes) and with them went that feeling of love and caring. While the Drs are friendly to the clients, the new front desk lacks the warmth of the old staff, often to the point of rudeness. They are disrespectful to callers, putting them on hold and forgetting them for up to 30 minutes, as if people in the office are important and phone inquiries and potential clients are simply an annoyance. Today, I took my 20 year old cat in. He has fine hair and it gets matted easily. I wanted the techs to shave just the mats under his chin, chest and tummy. He also needed his nails clipped. He has gone only to Animal Care Hospital for the entire 20 years of his life and yet the staff still calls him a her--an important detail, I would think, in a medical/veterinary office and up until a few months ago, they misspelled my name though I had corrected it repeatedly. These seem like small things but are indicative of a larger dismissive attitude toward clientele. There have been other incidences of rude treatment but I am writing about today's because it's the "straw that broke the camel's back." Even though I had made an 8 am appointment for today and was on time, I had to wait. They told me an emergency had come in but they would still TRY to "squeeze me in". I understand an emergency but the way I was talked to was as if they were granting me a favor by doing the job they agreed to do by scheduling my appointment. They made me feel as though my appointment and patronage meant little. When they brought my little boy out , after the short 10 minutes it took to shave and clip, they told me they didn't shave ALL the mats because it was upsetting him. However they still charged me the entire $30! Of late I am regularly presented with situations, usually a cold indifference and unfriendliness, that tell me I should take my next pets to another veterinary office that values my patronage. Apparently loyalty means nothing to Animal Care Hospital. It just breaks my heart. Read Less

I drive over 30 miles to come see the vet here. Dr Temple is by far the most compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable vet I have ever had the chance to meet. I had a two year old pit bull name red. SOP much energy. But I took him to this vet. when he started having seizures. I was told to give him meds that would help calm the seizure of course they would not go away. But since taken the pills he had more seizures. I called to inform this facility. So they put him on another pill  where the seizures got worst. I took him back into the vet they said he is healthy. and they didn't know why he was having seizures. but know Mri know x Ray for tumors nothing. now my dog is in heaven I hate this vet I wouldn't take a ant to this place. I TRULY HATE THIS VET OFFICE. THEY WILL NOT GO FAR TO SAVE YOUR PET LOOK SOME WHERE ELSE AND I HAD THE MONEY FOR ANY PROCDURE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR FUR BABY. F&@$ this place and every body that workS there sad. Was recommended here, what a mistake. Took my cat in, meet Dr. bishop. At first he was nice, until he found out that we couldn't afford all the test he wanted to do. Over $700, then he mumble "you should have pets if you can't afford them".  What an asshole. He walks out the room to do what we can afford, comes back with one foot holding the door open and was short with his responses and left quickly. It's all about the money.  Went back  cause my cat got worse so we had to put him down. Dr. Bishop didn't not want to see us, he said he was to busy so he sent his co-worker. She was awesome As she enter the back room,  I saw him in the back joking with workers and drinking coffee, busy my ass. THANKS FOR NOTHING. Read Less

I had a very wounded kitty and took him to the clinic  to see Dr Bishop. He spent less than ten minutes looking at my cat and would not do anything unless I did the MAJOR procedure that he wanted to do. I had to request to see him again during my visit to ask questions and he was rude. I also had to request all meds-nothing was suggested or offered. This clinic is just trying to get money anyway they can without taking consideration of true pet needs. I will take my pets else where in the future. Read Less

I told some of the best girls ever at the Starbucks next door they mentioned my name and the hospital gave them their exam for free with my referral I was shocked when I heard that pleasantly surprised and with that news I will be giving more referrals .  I use this hospital for all my pets and my sons dog too they really are caring when my cat Roenick got hurt and attacked by a dog they were great and very kind and loving with me too as a pet owner . Phenomenal. I recently adopted my first pet, a stray female cat, and took her here to get a check up and to be fixed. Everyone I interacted with was wonderful, especially (I believe her name is Vanessa?)  Dr. Temple, and the male vet tech from my first appointment.I never felt pressured to do anything, and was given "lower cost" and "higher cost" options, on paper anytime they were available. During my first appointment, Dr Temple explained each recommended vaccine, and I was given time to review my options and decide. My Thunder Kitty was in need of her spaying quickly, and I got a call early in the week that they could get me in 5 days early! They kept in very good touch with me the day she was fixed, and  even called the day after to see how she was doing. It is obvious how much everyone here loves animals--you can feel it-and it feels good. I, for obvious reasons, hope to not be here too regularly, but if I am I trust she will be in great hands... We had 2,  9 yr old cats, a Siamese and a Ragdoll. We had decided that after 2 check ups at a different vet we needed to change. It wasn't that the first vet wasn't good; it was that as they were a cats-only care facility, our cats were too sensitive to all that kitty pheromones and angst. They would get super freaked out while there. Our Siamese, who is normally pretty good with vets was total Halloween Scream kitty both times, with biting etc. Even our docile Ragdoll who loves everyone including vets was growls and stressed. We had decided to get a kitten, a cute Siamese cross. He was only 9 weeks old old and needed all the kitten shots, checks etc. I turned to Yelp (of course) and found I liked what I read about Animal Care Hospital. Now one must keep in mind while reading vet reviews, all vet practices have customers with good and bad experiences so look for specifics in reviews. Also, it's a good idea to Google search the vets themselves as often there are many other review forums specific to Vet Docs. (People Docs too FYI.)I brought the little guy in and having browsed their great website, decided to sign him up for the Kitten Plan which included 3 visits, all the shots and tests including worming if needed and a microchip install at the end. Separately, these would have been at least 20% more expensive.Everything went well every time with Little Dude up to and including the neuter they did recently. Eventually my other two needed vet visits as well, and they were fine there. All the cats have seen Dr. Bishop and the little guy had one visit with Dr. Temple. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The staff are friendly, they seem to really like animals (which isn't always the case) and I have never had any issues with scheduling or payments. These guys are a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. We don't have kids, so my mom's "Grrandcats" as she calls them get the best! Animal Care Hospital is Purrrrrrrfect in my books! My husband and I just adopted a new puppy (Oscar!) from a rescue and decided to get a wellness exam on him just to make sure he was healthy.I used Yelp to find a location as I am new to Phoenix and was not sure about other recommendations. This clinic exceeded by expectations. My biggest compliment is efficiency and being timely. Oscar and I were brought back within 5 minutes of our appointment time- better than some human clinics! The tech was thorough and took care of my baby. I felt very comfortable and I know Oscar did too. The vet came in right away and did a full exam. He answered all my questions and made good recommendations for his care. I did not feel pressured to purchase anything but because they were so informative I got a few extra services I wasn't originally planning on getting. I love Animal Care Hospital. We have two cats and a dog, and they've provided excellent care for all three. One of our cats has been boarded there a few times and I appreciate that I can trust them to take good care of him. The dog has gone there after spending the night at the emergency vet and the difference is stark--Animal Care Hospital always makes sure to ease our fears about whatever is going on with our animals and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Well, except for the time the dog got his teeth cleaned and one broken tooth pulled, that cost more than our rent. But still, they did a great job and they made sure that the dog, who is considered senior at age 7, was screened for any complications and I like that they use anesthesia that is considered more safe. (Sorry, I don't really know much about it but they have info in their office about it.)I do have a pretty strong preference for Dr. Temple vs. Dr. Halver, although they're both wonderful. I think find Dr. Temple to be more engaged and she's extremely willing to answer every single question I have, whereas Dr. Halver isn't always as thorough with my questions. Then again, I ask a ton of questions and he's always provided excellent care, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends.Dr. Temple is also a relaxed person, and she's willing to explore all the possibilities and be up front about how much things are going to cost and what's necessary and what can wait until the cheaper treatment option is given a chance to work. My only negative is that I have to agree with a previous review about them pushing the expensive Valley Fever test, that's happened to us too and I really don't think it was necessary since the dog didn't have many, if any, symptoms of having it. They didn't use extreme scare tactics but there was some guilt-tripping going on, but for all I know they're just hyper-aware of the perils of dogs getting Valley Fever. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. One huge bonus for me is that Joyce, who is almost always the one to answer the phones and make our appointments, is incredibly competent and always puts me in a good mood. She seriously makes my day whenever we go in because she does her job well and treats everyone with such respect, and she's as good with animals as she is with people. Read Less

Dexter woke me up on Sunday at 5:30 am. Now, that may not seem like a big deal, but this dog LOVES bedtime and gets extremely lazy once he snuggles under the covers. I knew something was up. Diarrhea. Ugh. Puking. Ugh. I waited 2 days, then decided it was time to take him in to be checked out.The staff was pleasant on the phone and made sure to let me know I'd have to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. They checked me in right away and I got to work. The room opened up quickly, so I finished my paperwork in there. Twice an assistant came in to check on Dexter and ask some basic questions.The vet, Dr. Bishop, was very personable. He set my mind at ease right away. As he finished he said "He's a very good dog." Aw!! I know this, and my friends know this, but I like everyone knowing what a great dog he is.He got a shot, some meds to bring home, and cans of food for the next few days. The entire office visit was just over $100. After some of the other places I've been, this was a welcome relief.It looks like the ghetto from outside, but don't be alarmed. Everyone there was great. I'm already taking him back next week for his yearly shots. Read Less

After getting fed up with our other vet, we tried this place when our pup needed to have a pretty bad cut (but one that had stopped bleeding) taken care of.  The other place refused to do anything but full-scale sedated surgery; this place offered (reluctantly) other options.  When I asked what the downsides of alternatives to stitches might be, they said he might develop slight scarring.Our dog is no show dog.  I figured that we would save the extra $400 stitches for a real emergency.  A week or two later, our guy was back to his usual antics without so much as a limp (or a scar, incidentally).I thought I may have found a vet in Phoenix who was willing to talk about pets like what they are - well-beloved animals.  Then I came back when our dog had a really high fever.  He'd recently had ticks, so I was concerned that it could be tick fever, which I know can act really quickly.Here's how the exchange went down, more or less:Me:  He's got a fever and has been lethargic this morning.  He recently had ticks.Doc: Well, it is probably Disease A, which will be cured by the end of the day with these antibiotics.Me: Oh, great!Doc: ...but it COULD be Valley Fever, in which case we need to do a blood test that will cost about $100.Me: Ok, does he have any other symptoms indicating it could be Valley Fever?Doc: No.Me:  Then why don't we treat the likely culprit, and if he hasn't gotten better in 24 hours we'll run the other test?Doc: Sir, if we don't test for Valley Fever, your dog could be dead by tomorrow morning.  DEAD BY TOMORROW.  But if you don't want to test, feel free to go against my recommendation.Me:  Er... okay.So, the good news is that our little guy was hale and hearty again by evening.  The antibiotics prescribed worked like a charm.  The bad news is that the test results the doctor ordered didn't come back for 5 days.Let me stress that - "He needs this test, or he could die tomorrow."  The results came back 5 days later.  I asked if this was an irregular amount of time for the test to come back and was informed that it was not.  Either the doctor was exaggerating the seriousness of the potential illness or the test info really needs to be turned around quicker.I am giving this place 3 stars because they will offer treatment options beyond the most expensive.  Plus, they actually keep their appointment times, which seems to be a gold standard for Phoenix vets.  They also don't charge a ludicrous "exam fee" every time they see your dog because they put him on a scale.
