I have only lived in Phoenix for a year. One of the things I hate about moving is finding a new vet! We really got lucky and found Ark Animal Hospital just when we needed them most. Shortly after moving in, we had to have our 16 year old cat Rosie euthanized. It was an agonizing time for my family, but the staff and Dr. Hatfield did everything they could to help Rosie and us through it. Since that time we have been to the Ark 3 more times. For yearly exams and one illness. Each time, the staff and Drs were friendly, so informative and caring. I am so pleased with Ark Animal Hospital. My cat has feline stomatitis, which is a really tricky condition to deal with. After a full mouth extraction and daily immunosuppressant didn't fully clear up her problem, I was having her treated by a veterinary dentist, who was doing a fine job. But he was far from our home and expensive, considering I was taking the cat in for a shot every 2 months when her throat got so bad that she stopped eating. Love these guys. We've had our dogs seen here for more than a decade. Even though our guys are older, we still get reliable advice. I once worked as an RN in a Peds ICU. Even though that was 15 years ago, I can say that the vet's discussion of our dog's issues are informative, complete, and not condescending at all. I got my puppy a month ago and I didn't know where to take him for all his shots. I did research did see a few bad reviews on this place but I tried them anyway. I Was very happy. They took my puppy Kedo in by the next day, and Doctor explained everything to me what shots needed to be done and didn't do anything extra. I would never ever use Ark Animal Hospital. They were are vet for many years. I have a 2 year old pug. she went in for a check up and I was told she needed 10 teeth pulled. I as floored so I got a second opinion. She only needed 1 baby tooth pulled. Its been years now and we have had no teeth issues with her. The vet got on the phone and told me how bad this needed to be done. Do not use this vet they will butcher your animals and do unneeded tests. Dr. Hatfield has taken care of our pets over the past 25 years and always has made excellent decisions in their care. Some of his treatments have not been run of the mill for one of our current pets, a female Shih Tzu who as a young dog had to have a bladder stone removed, and over the years she's had dental work, a hip and knee surgery and most recently treatment for an attack from a large dog. I brought my cat into Ark Animal Hospital because my cat wasn't breathing well at all. At first the staff seemed kind and compassionate but when it came down to paying for the visit during a time of crisis for my kitty and I. One of the ladies, turned straight into an impatient money hungry jerk. . she was so wretched about me paying during the most inappropriate time. . . After the doctor told me about her condition and how she probably wasn't going to make it, I made the heart wrenching choice of letting my sweet sweet girl rest in peace, where she didn't have to suffer any more. I was being harassed for money while trying to have the last moments of my kitty's life be peaceful and stress free as possible. . . .I understand that the company needs to make sure they will get paid but it's another thing when I am spending the last minutes of my cat's life trying to keep her calm, she came in and ruined that moment. . . She just seemed so cold hearted. I will say there was one nurse that was there with me, compassionate and understanding, had gone through the same thing with her kitty. I couldn't bare to see my cat put down, so I asked her to pet my cat for me and keep her calm during the euthanization because I just couldn't watch. I'd give that nurse 5 stars!!! The other nurse however, I wouldn't recommend hiring her ANYWHERE. Inconsiderate person. Dr. Hatfield was efficient and professional and took the time to call another hospital specialist. DR. LES IS A GENIUS...and compassionate.  I am the proud doggie mommy of two Pomeranians.  Emily is 8 months and Lilly is 12 years old.  As it turns out little Emily was a hermaphrodite.  Recently Dr. Les performed a very complicated surgery, actually surgeries, on Emily to correct this unusual occurrence.  He completed a full hysterectomy, hernia repair and removal of the "penis-like appendage" all at one time.  I am happy to say that little Emily is doing GREAT!  He is such a confident and skilled surgeon.  I had consulted with a specialist, but Dr. Les gave me more confidence in his knowledge and competence.  There was no one else I would have had perform this unique procedure.You can have peace of mind, knowing that he is a very kind and qualified veterinarian and surgeon.  I wouldn't think twice about bringing my girls to him for anything.  Thanks Dr. Les!!! My parents have a Shih Tzu, as does my brother. I am in charge of taking them to their appointments. Both dogs have very different personalities (one is high strung and scared of everything, the other is laid back even with his chronic allergies!). The staff is extremely sensitive to each one's needs. It is obvious they all have a deep love for the animals that they care for. Horrible. My new rescue was having a seizure. I rushed him here because they were so close. When I carried him in he was lethargic. I had to wait 30+ minuets scared for my dogs life to front desk staff who seemed to care less. They made me fill out paperwork which I understand however in dire situations what takes presidente. My dog by this point was no longer showing symptoms. I was told that there was nothing they could really do any way since he seemed fine now.  I walked out 45 minuets after arriving having seen no dr. And being told I'm pretty much helpless. I will never go to this again I thing it shows what they really care about $$$$$$$. Read Less

I found an injured dog in the middle of the street and took him (turned out to be a her) to Ark. I explained it was not my dog and just  wanted to just make sure she was ok. I feared she would be put to sleep if I took to pound. Dr. Hatfield and his assistant took pity on the poor dog. They gave me all the information to take her to the humane society and even provided me with an xray on disc at no charge to give to the humane society. I ended up fostering the little dog with a broken hip and she has since been placed for adoption. Thank you to Ark for their charity to this helpless animal. Dr. Les Hatfield and staff have been exceptional in their professionalism and caring. My dog, Daisy (love her as if she was my child) came down with Happy Tail.  I was scared when I understood the ramifications of her condition.  Dr. Les Hatfield spent more time explaining to me the condition and possible courses of treatment than any medical doctor I have seen for my own illnesses in the past.  The office follow up was consistent and sincere.  Unfortunately Daisy needed to have her tail docked.  I was given the information (teeth cleaned and tumor near anus removed) I needed to utilize Daisy's surgery time for the fullest benefit to Daisy. It is obvious that the team goes the extra mile in everything they do.  Big bonus, surgery came in under estimated cost.  Dr. Les Hatfield showed me a technique to stop Daisy from jumping (65 lb. dog) on people, and it works like a charm.  Three weeks after surgery and I have a completely healed and happy dog.
