Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic

Phoenix, Arizona
General Info
Treatment decisions at Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic in Phoenix start by observing animal postures: caregivers assess whether animals face them directly, move away from corners, or maintain diagonal stillness to determine session progression. Direct approaches to pets remain unattempted without explicit invitation. Instead, staff adjust directionality—using soft curves, slight sideways movement, and diagonal body angles. This decreases startle reflex while simultaneously developing orientation trust. Caregivers occupy strategic positions by being seated at 90 degrees which enables animals to triangulate between comfort zones and medical presence. Before any tools become visible observers detect blink rates paw arcs and balance shifts. Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic delivers imaging services alongside early onset detection chronic issue management cardio screening gastrointestinal alignment and age-specific care. Access tolerance serves as the mechanism for sequencing services. A number of animal species initiate flank contact before permitting frontal interaction. The placement of instruments on the floor before use enhances others' responses. Discharge routines incorporate re-orientation techniques which instruct how to lead pets out with a serene zigzag motion what angles to use for home bandage inspection and where to position bedding to avoid corner-trapping during recovery. The application of these guidelines diminishes flight behaviors while simultaneously restoring spatial security for pets upon their return to familiar environments. Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic extends its services from Phoenix to all Arizona neighborhoods by blending care into the familiar angles spaces and gentle pauses that animals understand—transforming treatment into an inviting experience rather than an interruption.

We have boarded our dogs here on two seperate occasions. On both occasions the lady in charge of boarding, Patty, has been extremely rude and incredibly unprofessional. Following the first boarding experience I was told how horrible and uncontrollable my dog was, and that he needed to go to training. I then proceeded to tell her he was trained and he followed my commands in front of her. I did not think much of this encounter, as I am fully aware the our pointer is high energy and can be a handful, much like his breed characteristics. Unfortunately her rude and snide remarks continued when we picked him up on the second occasions. I was informed again how horrible my dog was and told that since she couldn’t handle him we were not allowed to come back. I am okay with being told we were not welcome back but my question here is why is my dog acting so erratic and not like himself under Patty’s care. If she treats humans so disrespectfully I can only imagine how she treated our dog under her care. I have boarded him on numerous other occasions with nothing but praise and admiration from the boarders. Not only am I upset with the care, or lack there of, but I am also very upset with the manner in which this was handled as I have tried to contact the clinic owners twice with no return calls. This place is incredibly unprofessional and I would not recommend it one bit. Read Less

I think the doctors are caring and competent. I have taken a few of my cats to Blue Cross. But the prices are too high. Every time I take in a sick cat, the average price is $300.00 to 500.00 dollars. I don't have that kind of money. The dental cleaning and tooth extraction rates are very high. Scheduling is not super-convenient here.  Staff made judgmental remarks about our household which we put up with for a while. The final straw was when I was made to feel negligent for not agreeing to an expensive workup to rule out lymphoma in a cat that had had an intermittent GI problem for a number of years, and which did not appear to me to be progressing in any concerning way. This was several years ago and cat's GI symptoms resolved completely after I thought to change cat food brands. We now use a practice which in my opinion offers much better and more ethical veterinary care, in addition to being more convenient. MY DOG WAS MISDIAGNOSED DUE TO CARELESSNESS RESULTING IN OVER $700 IN EMERGENCY VET BILLS. Do NOT bring your dog here. I brought in my pup who clearly had a UTI infection. After treating her with a round of antibiotics, they asked me to bring back in a urine sample and gave me no instructions on how. I asked for a sterile container and was not given one. When I returned the sample in a plastic container I had, a fly had managed to get itself inside the sample. They told me no big deal. Then they tell me she still has a UTI infection even though her symptoms were gone and prescribed me a different antibiotic, Baytril. This is where it gets morbid. My dog ended up having a severe allergic reaction to the medication, resulting in a visit to the emergency room at 2am because of her aggressively scratching her ear/neck to the point of blood. They had to cone her, sedate her, give her steroids and Benedryl shots, and she still wasn't fine. I ended up taking her into another vet (Sunday) to where they assisted with giving her sedatives, anti itch, anti inflammatory, and steroids to go home with. We are now in Day 3 with my dog trying to rip her own ear off. I call into Blue Cross and ask them when this should pass since all the other vets told me this was NOT normal and this was VERY severe and I was afraid for her life. Blue Cross tells me it's no big deal and if she isn't OK by Day 5 then to worry. Day 6 - have not received a single follow up from Blue Cross. Re-test her urine with the new vet and   BEHOLD SHE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A UTI and I can only assume the false reading was because of  testing a non sterile sample. $700 in vet bills later, my sanity is gone, missed work, my poor pup has experienced enough tragedy for a lifetime, my house is covered in violent diarrhea stains, and I am more bitter than vinegar. All of this could have been prevented by SANITARY PRACTICES.My last bit: It is now Day 7 and I haven't received a single follow up call from Blue Cross. I've received four in total from the vet who took over. I think it's pretty clear who cares for my dog's health. Read Less

Our Cocker Spaniel Sparky, has been a client of Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic since 2002. Sparky has always had a lot of health issues, starting with the state we found him in ( abused, abandoned, infected & starving) to his current old age, he has had allergies that require constant meds and an injection and grooming every 3 weeks. He has a hip that is out of his socket, liver tumors and gall bladder issues were discovered last year when we contemplated hip surgery. Dr Ryan put him on a regimen of supllements and meds for the liver and gall bladder that has allowed us another year with him, and he has a good quality of life. The gal that grooms him there, Peggy has groomed him since 2002 and he loves her as much as us. The entire staff there has been absolutely the best for our family, they have seen us through Sparky's life, comforted us through the loss of our Labrador and 2 cats. They have referred us to the best specialists in town when needed and always followed through with those doctors. There aren't enough good words to describe how we feel about them and Sparky is not scared to go there, because they are family to him. We will forever be grateful for the way they have taken care of him (and us). Lori Read Less

My little 8 month old chihuahua was mauled by a dog in the park & we rushed the little one to Blue Cross. He had a punctured lung, one broken rib and eventually had to have surgery with twenty stitches. I was very unhappy with the follow up concerning the severity of his condition. There was a no care attitude on their part & had to take the little one to another vet because the medication this vet prescribed caused extreme shaking of his whole body. And eventually he had to be taken to an emergency clinic with cardiac arrest and passed away. I WILL NEVER TAKE ANY OF MY ANIMALS TO THIS CLINIC, USE CAUTION IF YOU UTILIZE THIS CLINIC. Read Less

Read Less
