So my pup has been dealing with an ongoing skin infection since August. It went away for about a month and then started back up in December. We had seen our vet a few times regarding this issue and he seemed stuck on one diagnosis. As you all know going to the vet is not cheap so we spent a pretty penny trying to get to the bottom of this issue with absolutely no resolve. After trying everything we could imagine on our own we finally decided to find a new vet and get a second opinion. I went to Facebook to seek guidance on a wonderful and reputable vet and that is when I found Foothills Animal Hospital. They are an absolute God send. I took my little guy in last week for a full panel blood work and just to have him looked over. They put him on meds and he is finally clearing up. After 5 months of trying to get him healthy again and back to his old self we finally found someone who knew what they were talking about and steered us in the right direction. My pups skin is going back to normal, no more crustiness, his fur is growing back in normally and he is back to his fun hyper terrior self. Thank you Foothills for taking care of my little man and for taking the time to listen and encourage me that he would be alright. Thank you for calling me multiple times over this last week to check in on him and make sure he is doing alright. First our poor girl had to go without her medication for a week because they wouldn't refill it until we brought her back in becausethe "new owners" wanted to see all the dogs and cats first even tho we had just had her in for a "wellness" check and blood work! So we sit for 2 hours before seen this time only to be told, "they have new staff members" who messed up and she didn't need to be seen, they could have refilled her meds and she wouldn't have had to one suffer for a week without them and two sat in a waiting room for two hours!!! Thank you so so much! My cat was having bad episodes of diarrhea. I live in Maricopa and couldn’t get into the Veterinary Hospital in town. You guys fit me in on a Saturday!! Most veterinary clinics probably do a good job with routine exams but the real test is how you are treated as a customer when it really matters. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was mostly satisfied with the care of our 14-year-old loyal buddy. Our dog's health was in rapid decline with age but he was in pain from having fallen on the tile floor one day. I called that morning to get him some pain pills to keep him comfortable. I explained that our dog was likely in the last few days of his life. The receptionist took a message and assured me I would get a call back when someone was free. No one called. I called again that afternoon. I was told that our normal veterinarian was busy but she would call soon. No one called back that day and I went to the office first thing the next morning. I again explained the situation and was told no one was in the office to assist me but someone would call. The receptionist called back fairly soon to tell me my prescription was ready - (kudos to her she was nice). Our dog passed away 2 weeks later. Having had a bad experience when I really needed my vet to respond quickly will necessitate finding another veterinary clinic I can rely upon. Read Less

This vet office is absolutely phenomenal. The love they show to not only my pup, but us as well is amazing! We have had challenges with our dog's allergies and getting to know her since we adopted her. They have helped so much getting us matched up with a trainer and all the proper meds she needs. We have used Foothills and Dr Mac since 97. Four dogs (Bailey, Brandy, Mackie and Sydney) later we still use them. They are an amazing, compassionate and kind group of doctors and staff who truly love animals. I would never want to go anywhere else in the valley. By far the best vet experience I have ever had! From start to finish everyone was wonderful! We were greeted by a great front office staff, who were incredibly friendly and personable. Our Vet tech Amanda was fantastic! She was incredibly informative and patient with us as we asked questions and talked about our fur baby. And Dr. McKenzie was amazing! He walked in and immediately sat on the floor getting to know our sweetheart. There was no rushing at all. He encouraged our questions, gave sound advice, valuable suggestions, and was willing to spend as much time as we needed with us. I used to work in an animal hospital, so I have seen many vets and their interactions with their patients and the owners and the business side of the operation. This practice is fantastic! It's not a revolving door of hurried visits. They sincerely care and want to make sure that their patient's parents are comfortable and confident when they leave! My 2 dogs love their favorite Dr Jen with each visit & have been seeing her for about 5 years. The front desk and Techs are all friendly and make you feel welcome from start to end of the appointment. The facility is very clean and easily accessed from the street. Absolutely horrific; these people should not be in business. Took our dog in for a routine teeth cleaning in the morning. They called us 3 hours later that we should stop by, our dog would not wake up from its anaesthetic. they tried to revive him but to no avail. Our perfectly healthy 5 year old dog dies for no reason. Then they present me with a $1k bill when my family and i are getting ready to leave in tears. Avoid this place like the plague. Read Less

Wow was I disappointed. My tiny 10 lb mini schnauzer ingested her senior brothersmedication Saturday morning, 2x her dose and she needed immediate attention to induce vomiting.  Since there wasn't time to drive to my vet  in Scottsdale and the emergency clinic is also far I took a chance and stopped by Foothills Animal Hospital. I completely understand if   you are too busy  but you made my poor little girl wait at the counter for OVER 10 MINUTES before the receptionist came back with  "sorry we already had an emergency today and we are too busy" 10 minutes wasted - at this time she didn't need surgery she just needed to vomit. I got a new puppy, his name is Champ in June and wanted to find a really good Vet since I am a first time dog mom. A few friends both mentioned this place, so I called and scheduled an appt. I was able to get a Saturday appt time relatively fast. They were amazing with Champ and me, really took the time to ask questions and do a full check up. They gave me great advice and listened to all my concerns. Dr. Johnson was really good and took time to exam Champ and walk me through the basics. Dr MaKenzie has been our vet since 1990!! Since she arrived (not sure what year), we have also been using Dr Johnson (she is the only vet our cat likes/trusts, after a tragic event at a local boarding establishment). In addition to checking your pet's health, they will also help you with social/training issues; discuss food choices; and give advice about your pet's healthy weight. The front office staff is amazing, accommodating and helpful; plus they have an exceptionally low turn-over! The vet techs all interact with your pet, help them feel relaxed, and are very efficient/quick with the intake exam. EVERY employee takes time to interact with your pet, and clearly love animals. We have been going to Foothills Animal Hospital since we got our dog, Addie, when she was 9 weeks old. She is an English Springer Spaniel and is extremely active. She also has a very finicky stomach and Dr Bourque and the staff helped us with that. She is going to be 4 yrs. old in May and the staff and Doctors at the clinic have been so helpful to us throughout that time. We are going to breed her this spring and Dr. Bouquet has been giving us all kinds of helpful information. She has treated Addie like one of her own pets and the staff just love her. They have also been very helpful with any questions we might have had over the years and are so good with her. We love taking her there and will continue to do so. I've been here three times with my cats. First visit was with my little "scrapper," who managed to pull out a claw and (nearly) knock out a tooth when a high jump went terribly wrong (what can I say?! Not all cats land on their feet..). I called and they got me in within the hour! Check-in process was smooth. The wait was short. They took care of my girl; kept me posted throughout the day on her progress. My next visit was for a more somber reason. I found my 19yo Forest Cat by his food dish unable to walk. I knew it would probably be the end...called them up and -again- they got me in right away. They confirmed what I feared (possible stroke), and they advised me that putting him to sleep would be appropriate considering his condition. I had been through this process once before at a different vet out-of-state...so I knew the drill. They brought in a comfy blanket to make him comfortable...and didn't rush me through my goodbyes. We took care of financials before getting started, quickly...it was not something that they harped on (staff were respectful of my situation). They were very compassionate with him and me, and although a very sad day, I left feeling like I made the right call and he passed away peacefully. They handled the entire situation professionally and with great care. About a week after my visit, I found a condolence card in my mailbox - I though that was a nice gesture. I returned about a month later with a new rescue - for shots, etc. They remembered me - asked how I was doing. I will continue to use them for however long I'm in the area!Read Less

I was referred to this place by a friend. My previous vet seemed fine until there was a problem. That led to multiple visits and thousands of dollars and still no diagnosis, an a sick sick dog. I brought Maggie here Dr. Johnson gave her a proper diagnosis and meds, first visit. Every time I come here I never have to wait more than 10 min. Dr. Johnson calls right away with lab results.
