We brought our older cat here for a check up after we found her spitting up some blood. They were thorough with their exam, kind and gentle with her, and they explained everything very clearly to us. They did some blood work and said it would be probably Monday evening when they got the results back, so they might not be able to call until Tuesday. However, they called us on Monday night right before they closed to talk to us about the results. We appreciated their quick reply to us. Love this place!! I couldn't be more happy with the service that I received during my visit to North Central Animal Hospital. I have recently adopted a sweet Golden retriever puppy and he needed his last shots, so made a call and was able to get him in the very next day. The lady on the phone took all my information and was very efficient and courteous. When I arrived for his appointment, the lady at the front was so nice. Said a warm welcome as we entered. Since I came early, she was busy with other customers, but was quick to bring me paper work to fill out and take Leo's weight. After just a few minutes, we were taken into the exam room for his appointment. Before the vet came in, her assistant came in and took all my puppy's vitals and answered any questions I had. She was very knowledgeable and gave advice that was very helpful to me. After that, they took some tests and gave him his shots. First time here today and the experience was awesome! The receptionist was very nice and outgoing and helpful with the paperwork process. The vet tech was also very nice and it was comforting knowing that they all had a love for reptiles (I had to bring my bearded dragon in for digestive problems). My beardie is my baby and when he got sick I was very concerned, but Dr. Ivy was very knowledgeable and eased my fears. I would not recommend Dr Franks ever to anyone. About 3 years ago my husband bought me a Green Winged Macaw.  We named her Stella and she was only 7 mos old. This was one of our first parrots so we were inexperienced owners. Our parrot fluffed a lot and seemed off balanced so we took her to Dr Franks who kept her at office so she could give her fluids. However when we were at office the dr had her tech come in to help. Tech did not even know how to hold the bird Dr Franks had to tell her and you could tell tech was nervous. Before Dr Franks had us come pick up our pet she had her TECH feed our parrot. Our parrot asphyxiated and went into cardiac arrest and died. Dr Franks said Oh my I don't know what your parrot had all labs came out good. Well 3 years later and more experience I can tell you what happened. Dr Franks let an inexperience tech feed our parrot and if you don't know what you are doing you can kill a parrot by asphyxiating them. Also a 7 mos parrot would fluff and be off balance that is normal. A good Dr should have known this!  I am sad over this to this day. I wish I had never taken my bird to this vet for if I hadn't she would be alive today   And Dr Franks as a vet absolutely knew what happened but she wasn't going to admit to killing a $2000.00 macaw by letting an inexperienced tech feed her!! I've taken my bird to several vets in Phoenix since moving here, a year ago, and this is the best one I've seen, and will be returning too. While a little more expensive, it's definitely worth the quality care and service. The staff are very friendly, and welcoming. They explained everything clearly, answered all questions I had, and made sure I knew and had everything I needed in order to get my bird back to health. My bird 's wing was injured, he wasn't eating, or acting like himself. Although Dr. Franks wasn't available, the other vet was very knowledgeable about birds and took care of him until I could be seen by Dr. Franks. While doing tests they found he had liver disease, and they put him on medication immediately. Four visits, and two weeks later, my bird's wing is healed, he's flying again, and back to himself. I really like this hospital and their staff. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Tan are passionate about what they do and my pet has been well taken care of by them. My only complaint is that waits are rather long even if you have an appointment. The other complaint is about one of the vet techs- I don't remember her name but she had dark hair and tattoos on her arm. She didn't seem comfortable handling animals and did a sloppy job of taking my pet's weight and temperature etc. The other vet techs in my experience were more patient and thorough. I got my dogs from Puppies'N Love and they offer a free exam with certain vets. Unfortunately, this is the only option available on the West side. Both times the staff was really rude for no reason. The vet that saw my first dog was a nut and did things I specifically told her not to do. I would NEVER recommend going here. If you live in the Peoria/Glendale area there are so many better options! They are well-equipped and conveniently open during the weekends. Although it's best to make an appointment ahead of time to ensure care, the receptionist was kind enough to squeeze me into the soonest available appointment since I had an emergency. If you live in the area and are looking for a veterinarian to treat your dog, cat, bird, reptile, or exotic, I'd say look no further than here. They are passionate about what they do and follow up on your pet's condition the next day with a phone call to see how things are going. If you want an accurate and objective check up of your pet and a doctor that does not toy with your emotions, please take it somewhere else or ask for Dr. Frank.As a first time dog owner, I want to provide all the care for it to have a healthy life. On my first visit, my puppy was seen by Dr. Thomas.  Dr. Thomas did not seem friendly or helpful to answer my questions but very quickly found multiple problems, suggested medications and a different diet, also said that my puppy needed a $3,000 surgery as soon as possible because he wasnt going to live long. She prepared all the documents and estimates. I was devastated!.I got all documents and decided to make all the arrangements on the second follow up visit 2 weeks later. On the 2nd visit, my puppy was seen by Dr. Frank. She was very happy with my puppy and said he was completely healthy. There was no need for any medication or surgery. I was dumbfounded!! I was confused and took the puppy for a second opinion. Nothing, he was in perfect health. Months later, my mom scheduled an appointment for her rescued King Charles for a simple package. She was also seen by Dr. Thomas. One more time she found multiple problems. She did some tests without my mom's agreement, she gave her some documents to sign, and never discussed the pricing.  On the checkout my mom's bill was 4 times the package she scheduled. She argued that she did not ask for the complex package and that Dr. Thomas never educated her or gave her options. They said that she had to paid because she signed the documents.  **SUMMARY:** Dr. Thomas will find health issues with your pet and will try to advertise and push for tests, medications and surgeries that your pet do not need. The North Central Animal hospital is amazing! I first found them under the $5 rabies vaccine, which is awesome in the first place. I scheduled my appointments to get all the shots, and oh my god, it was super affordable! Only $50 for all the vaccines and some other things, whereas usually its like $50 to just check in a dog somewhere, disregarding the shots cost money themselves. More-so, the staff here is super friendly and were very helpful! Also, I'm excited to see that they have a bird veterinarian as well, makes it much easier to have all my animals examined in one place. I met Dr. Frank and the staff today when I brought my cat in for an emergency check up. They are very knowledgeable about dental disease which I did not know could be hereditary and were exceptional at calming my cat. All I can say is that I will always include a dental check up with animals now and I would definitely refer this veterinarian office to anybody. For a tip on spotting a dental problem - my cat had started to have a hard time chewing, which I overlooked for a long time and so I just changed her cat food. We brought in our dog for examination due to him being sick and vomiting for 2 days (turns out it was parvo). The staff was able to get us in the same day, although they were booked. My poor boy was not feeling well at all and the staff was very sweet to him and accommodating. They even let me know that someone had canceled and our appointment fee was going to be the regular price, not the same day rush price. This was very kind of them to do, since I would have never known of the cancelation, had they not told me and reduced our fee. I was ready to pay our rush fee. I thought that was something not many other places would do. We want to thank them for being so compassionate towards us and working with us with his treatment plan. After his second appointment, he received more antibiotic shots, as well as more fluids. We were given some IVs to take home and continue treatment. We were not at a place, financially, where we could afford for him to stay hospitalized. I am so THANKFUL they understood and provided us with the tools to care for our Floyd. The next day after his second appointment, he woke up and was back to his normal self!! he ran around, ate lots of food and was able to keep it down!! His tail was back in business and he couldn't stop giving kisses. I cannot thank them enough for saving my sweet boy. They went above and beyond. I've been taking my dog to North Central for almost 2 years and we both love them. They are attentive, the doctors and assistants explain the procedures and fees before so you're not leaving and panicking when you get to the counter. I love the urgent center... My dog was pooping blood, I called and they got him in right away. Yeah there's a fee, but my dogs life is worth it. Everyone there is super professional and I've never had to wait long. I had been visiting Phoenix for the holidays when my dog woke up with a terrible eye infection. I called North Central Animal hospital that was recommended by a family friend but they were booked with only "urgent care" appointments available for an extra fee. My experience was that you either have an appointment available or you don't . I kept on calling nearby vets and found a great place walking distance from where at I was staying. I recently found myself in need of a vet to examine my older dog's leg she was favoring. I found North Central Animal Hospital after browsing vets in my area that had reviews from others who have taken their pets in and had great experiences. I had read some articles while looking around that made me wary when choosing a vet, warning about up-charging and unnecessary testing, so I had prepared myself to be bombarded with additional fees and service charges. This was not the case with North Central! I came in right at my appt time without filling in my dog's health profile sheet online first, which I knew would probably add a good chunk of time on my wait to see the vet. To my surprise, the extremely friendly staff showed us to a private exam room while they scanned in my documents and had me fill out a health chart for my dog. We were seen right away by an assistant who took my dog's temp and checked her respiration, and she was very patient and sweet with my nervous pup! Once we saw the vet, she was very thorough with showing me what was happening to my dog and explaining my options for treatment. She made sure I understood each option and answered all questions I had. I was relieved that they worked with me to choose a treatment plan that was affordable and appropriate for my dog. I like to shop around when it comes to meds, so they offered to write me a prescription for what she was needing. After crosschecking on their prices and what I was finding on my own, their prices were very fair! I was more than pleased with the thoughtfulness of the staff, the cleanly and neat rooms and waiting areas, and just how professional the interaction was with myself and my dog. Dr. Ivy Thomas saved my rabbit's life. My bunny rabbit domino was in dire condition after flystrike. Flystrike is a disgusting, painful and fatal condition. In simple terms, Bunny had diarrhea, flys are attracted to the diarrhea, fly's lay eggs on bunny, eggs hatch into maggots, thousands of maggots begin eating bunny's flesh, and it all happened within a 36 hour period. My wife noticed Domino was acting strange last Sunday, he was lethargic and not himself. I picked up him, turned him over and noticed the infestation. We began calling emergency Vet centers. We drove to Scottsdale Emergency vet, and after seeing Domino, they  recommended we go to North central Animal hospital. Dr. Thomas was on lunch when we arrived, but after the Vet Tech Dave saw Domino, he texted her to come back. Dave and Dana were both very kind as we waited, checking on us and domino frequently, and Dave put him in an oxygen tank to help him breath. When Dr. Thomas Arrived she looked at Domino and quickly determined his treatment plan. He had anesthesia, her and Dave removed all maggots by hand, his wounds were cleaned and he was giving a shot to kill any remaining worms. Domino was sent home a couple hours later with antibiotics, pain medication, soothing cream and pro-biotics. She told us we were not out of the woods yet, as domino was under great stress from the whole ordeal, and the next few days would be very telling. It has been a week, I have given Domino his meds religiously and he seems to be on the mend. He is in good spirits, his pain is going down and fingers crossed his wounds are healing. My understanding is this veterinary clinic is the only one in the state specifically trained in avian care. I have a cockatiel who has become egg-bound twice and know this can kill her, so an emergency vet highly recommended this location to me. Our visit here was horrible. The doctor and assistant was great and the options given were helpful. However, the woman working in the front desk is not professional. When we walked in, I specially asked to be told how much each step/procedure will cost before making the decision to do so. Other hospitals explain the price and have you sign before they go on with any procedure. The woman up front did not tell me anything and at the end of our visit she said it would cost us $115. I asked why, she said she told us in the beginning it would cost $115 since it's an emergency, which she DID NOT informed me, but I guess that's how you scam people and take their money. Horrible.  The doctor was supposed to do an exam on my dog, and didn't even look in his ears, nor barely run her hands over him.  She made us uncomfortable the whole time.  I felt very discriminated toward.  Then when they brought in the estimated cost for why we had actually gone there, it was up to 1300 dollars.  With all these test and procedures she had never discussed with us.  Very pushy and rude!  The doctor didn't even seem like she loved animals. Dr. Thomas and staff were so kind, gentle and honest when it came to making a decision on my sick kitty. Dr. T gave it to me straight and when I was unsure she talked to me from the perspective of what she would do if her cat were in a similar spot. I never thought I'd have to put him down, especially at such a young age, but given the prognosis and how sick he was, it wasn't right to have him continue to suffer. I decided to take my three toy chihuahuas in for their annual vaccinations and pre-dental exams. I was impressed that they have weekend hours but the wait Last Sunday was too long for my liking especially with three stressing older dogs.  Hopefully that was a one time situation. The staff was very nice and attentive but I never got to meet the vet and I thought that was strange.  All three of my older chihuahuas will be having their dental surgeries there within the next few months and I'm a little nervous about it.  I'm also bringing my new 8 week old tea cup toy chihuahua in this Friday for her first set of vaccinations so I'll be reviewing the care my four chihuahua receives from north central animal hospital as I make my decision to make them my regular veterinarian indefinitely or not. I called North Central on a Sunday morning and was able to get an appointment with the vet that day.
