I brought my German Shepherd here to be neutered, and for safety precautions a muzzle was placed on him (very large male shepherd). My dog had never had a muzzle on before , and while being weighed by Dr. Diskin he growled one time. Dr. Diskin advised my dog is aggressive, and he would not be able to do the procedure. Dr. Diskin advised he did not have the time to deal with my dog, and was completely rude. This was after a 1.5 hour drive to the clinic. Worst service I've ever received dealing with my dog , I would not recommend this place to anyone. Read Less

Would not provide lot numbers for our dog's vacanations. As well as not letting me go back and watch them inject my dog with the said vacanations. Was told to leave when I asked for the above. Hmm. Something is hinkey with this place. Probably shooting your dogs with saline instead of actual vaccines. Never been to a vet who would not allow o be in the room. Also, he freaked out when I mentioned my dog is training to be a drug sniffing dog. And that I was an L.E.O. (retired). It's interesting how this vet did not respond to my statement that "he's probably shooting your dogs with saline. I also called several vets after this, and they stated" it is odd that the Dr. Would not let you back in the exam area" and all 10 that I called said they DO let the owners back with thier pets during non surgical procedures. This guy must be a libitard. Once again buyer beware of this quack. Heck I bet you were an officer, while us SAPPERS led the way, and you stayed in your air conditioned tax trailer in the rear..... There was a two week wait to get my dog fixed. Bunny (15lb Boston Terrier) and I arrive and it appears the Vet is in a hurry. Asks me to remove my collar/leash and he grabs a leash they use for patients. He makes the leash into a choker collar and get half around my dogs body/half around her neck and goes to drag her into the scale. I said "wait you have got her leg" and I pick her up to fix the collar. Now the Dr. drags her to the scale and then off the scale. He says "she doesn't really walk on a leash huh?" I said she really doesn't respond to being drug around by her neck and is not used to a choker collar. The Dr. does not like my comment because he said "I cannot do the surgery for her" I said it seems the feeling is mutual and left the office. In hindsight I'm glad the Dr. refused to do surgery today. It appeared he was not very cognizant or sensitive to his patients needs. Would NOT recommend! Read Less

Malpractice is an error that a professional, who is expected to have a certain level of competence because of special training and experience, shouldn't make. For example, if a veterinarian looks at a dog with mange and treats it for heartworm, that's probably malpractice, because the vet should know better. In this case I'm absolutely shocked at the level of neglect and piss poor customer service it's flabbergasting. It's been over a week since I've contacted the clinic about the botched neutered surgery the dr preformed that I had to spend double to get corrected and make sure my dog didn't get an infection from that. They have yet to contact me back, no email, call text or carrier pigeon. Horrible service and a chop shop. Seriously mobile clinics have more credibility at this point Read Less

I'm not sure why there are any bad reviews but our experience was the best I've had at any vet or clinic.  We brought in our 10 month old Chihuahua to get spayed, have two dewclaws removed, and receive her kennel cough vaccine.  We made the appointment a month in advance and received confirmation from PAWS and a follow up call a day before the surgery as well as instructions on what to expect after surgery and precautions to take before. When we arrived at PAWS the morning of her surgery the receptionist at the counter greeted us right when we walked in the door with a smile and welcomed us to PAWS.  The waiting room is very clean and it doesn't have that pet odor/bleach smell you will find at other clinics which was very pleasant. We handed her a informational form we downloaded online from their website that we filled out prior to our appointment.  The form asks about you pet, allergies, current vaccinations, what you're at PAWS for, etc." After we exchanged information with the receptionist we sat down in the waiting room.We waited no more than 10 minutes before Dr. Diskin saw Roxie.  We went into the room where he weighed her, and asked about her; going down the list of questions we answered on the informational form. Keep in mind while he was reviewing the form and speaking with us he would play with Roxie and pet her which made all of us including Roxie more comfortable as she is somewhat skiddish around new people. It was refreshing to see a business and it's staff take pride in what they do and how they respect their customers especially the animals they treat. We pointed out that she had a baby tooth that did not fall out even though her adult teeth had come in and mentioned we would like that removed as well, whether today or another appointment down the road. He said it wouldn't be a problem and they could remove it today along with doing the other procedures.  We said goodbye to Roxie and Dr. Diskin who took her to the back where they got her ready for surgery. We dropped Roxie off at 8:30am and I received a call around 10:30am from PAWS letting us know that surgery went as planned, that Roxie is doing great and she will be available for pick-up at 12:30pm. When we picked her up they gave us post-op instructions as well as pain medication for her if she becomes uncomfortable, they told us what to expect and said she did wonderful. It is now day three after the surgery and Roxie is back to her normal self. The first day she slept and didn't move much because the the anesthesia but now she will walk around, wag her tail, eat, drink, etc.  We have a cone to prevent her from licking the incision. All in all it cost a fraction of what we were quoted at some other clinics.  The service was outstanding and to top it all off Dr. Diskin followed up with us to see how Roxie was doing. We will definitely be coming here in the future for all of Roxie's needs. I would recommend this place to anyone if they need their dog neutered/spayed, vaccinations, nail trimming, etc. The staff cares, they enjoy what they do, the place is clean, prices are very reasonable and wait times are minimal. I took my dog in today to get neutered. He is a German Shepherd/Black Lab mix and he is very big. He is also very nervous and not socialized very well which I acknowledge is my fault. Knowing this is advance, I muzzled him before the visit. He did bark at a couple people through the muzzle but overall anyone looking at him could tell that he is just very nervous and very protective of my wife and I. When we took him back to see the vet, my dog did not bark, growl or show any signs of aggression whatsoever. He stood there shaking with his tail between his legs and pushing up against me because he was scared. The "vet" did NOTHING to attempt to socialize with my dog, did not ask any questions, did not ask if he should approach him in any particular way being that he had a muzzle on and did not even seem to take notice that my dog was very scared. When he asked me to put him on the scale, my dog did so without hesitation. At this point the "vet", like a total idiot, decided to go ahead and lunge down to my dog at eye level and attempt to touch him with absolutely no caring or finesse whatsoever. At this point, with a muzzle on, my dog barked and attempted to bite at the vets hand. With the muzzle, there is no way he could have actually bitten or hurt anyone at all. This so called vet backs up, looks TERRIFIED, and tells me that he won't be able to take my dog in for surgery. Absolutely refused to work with him in any way whatsoever and turned us away. Let me ask this...what kind of supposed "vet" does not know how to recognize when a dog is scared/nervous and does not know how to deal with an animal like that? What kind of "vet" does not inquire as to why he is wearing a muzzle and if any kind of special care should be taken? What kind of "vet" does not have the sense to see when a dog is obviously very uncomfortable and scared just based on body language alone? What kind of "vet" lunges at a dog in this nervous state head on and at eye level and just tries to reach out and grab this dog? And then lastly, what kind of "vet" refuses to understand their mistake and does not perhaps attempt another approach or perhaps attempt sedating the dog? He even stated that he believes that my dog desperately needs neutered but then refused to help him because he made a rookie mistake and came at a nervous dog head on and fast. Do not take your animals to these people. They do not understand the complexities of dogs and that not all of them are the same and need to be treated gently sometimes. This guy says my dog desperately needs his testicles removed. I say this guy desperately needs his testicles to drop and not be scared of a dog because you messed up and approached him wrong. First off, it takes ALOT for me to take the time to come write a 1 star review as I'm a very patient and overall happy person. Picture this: mom walks in with a stroller/baby, 4 year old by her side, 2 4 month old puppies, and a 6 year old large dog. She's has this giant crew with her because her husband is at work and she doesn't have a sitter. It's a lot for one person to handle. Dr Scott comes into the room, doesn't introduce himself or barely even greets any of us, INCLUDING THE PUPPIES. (Which I think it's common sense to greet an animal with a smell of the hand and get in their level to establish trust/relationship. Maybe even a treat) He grabs the 2 puppies leashes and says he's taking them to the other room. They aren't used to walking on leashes as they aren't aloud to go on walks yet due to vaccines. One of the puppies is frantic and won't walk on the leash and ends up pooping out of fear. When he finally gets them to the other room I realize he wants us all to come. We all get on there and he proceeds with the exam of the calmer of the 2 puppies. He already seems irritable. He then tries to grab the leash of the other who fought him and she ends up nipping his finger, draws blood. I feel awful at this point and ask if I can hold her to help. He tells me no and to stay where I am. He leaves with a SLAM OF THE DOOR and returns with a muzzle and an assistant. At this point our puppy can sense Scotts anger/temper and fights him once more, pulling back and not letting him near her. During this whole struggle he proceeds to tell me in front of my children how these dogs need training, which we're working on(they're 4 months) that they're gonna bite our kids( never happened, they love our kids), she needs to be socialized( have done so with plenty of people/kids/do gas/cats in our home but can't go out in public because they're not done with vaccines),how they should be brought to vet more often so they're not scared, maybe she's scared because there's too many people in the room and ON AND ON. He showed no empathy and told me I'm a irresponsible dog sitter owner. If he only knew how much WE LOVE/LIVE for our pets, especially all the time, money and energy we put into fighting our beloved dog Zoe's with liver cancer. Are you kidding me now? Scott you didn't build any trust with a new animal and expected them to be perfect! Basically shaming, humiliating me, making me feel like a complete piece of dirt and like I'm an idiot who doesn't know how to control my dog. Tells me he's done and to leave. I am beside myself shocked and embarrassed and my daughter keeps asking me what we did and why he was so mad/mean to us. As I got to the lobby and tried to round up a stroller, 4 year old and 3 dogs to get out the door, we were clearly struggling and in tears embarrassed and upset by our treatment. My daughter is trying to push the door open with tears in her eyes and she can't get it open. The front desk woman just sat and ignored us and DIDNT EVEN OFFER TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN so we could escape. We finally got out and into the car and couldn't hold back. Scott was incredibly rude, heartless and demeaning. I can't believe he works with people or pets. We never felt welcome from the time we set foot in the door. And just an FYI, you only have 1 chance to make a first impression, and guess what you certainly did. Maybe you were having a bad day or tired at the end of the day, but that never gives u the right to treat a mother with 5 kids/pets to care for alone EVER! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. And for the record, my puppy has never bit anyone, including our amazing holistic vet! Clearly it was you and your energy! Prayers for you Scott. My heart forgives, but I will never forget. Take your money/pets elsewhere. Read Less

Here is another great example of the power of Yelp! When I got my rescue dog late last year, she was just coming out of heat. I'd never had a dog that wasn't fixed before, so I had no idea where to get that taken care of. Then I found P.A.W.S. on Yelp! The reviews gave me the peace of mind that my pup would be well taken care of. And the fact that this was more or less their specialty, bread and butter, reason to exist... I felt very comfortable with this choice. Go check out their website. It's very straight forward. Now this was all planned before I found a vet for Shadow. I knew enough to not get her spayed right after heat, so we waited. And while I highly recommend the vet I found, P.A.W.S. is a significantly less expensive option for this procedure. And there are even less expensive (some are even free) clinics out there. But those are first come, first served. I'm not risking not getting my dog spayed to save a few bucks. I have visions of what may resemble a M.A.S.H. You get the reference? The communication with staff was excellent. And Dr. Fisher was very knowledgeable and gave me even more confidence as I left the facility. Plus, this place is super easy to get to. P.A.W.S. is just north of the 101 off Cave Creek Road. Thanks everyone! Read Less

When I picked my pooch up she was not groggy just a little quiet. Her incision was small and beautiful and the sutures were under the skin so there were no stitches to take out later!! We've had two separate experiences with PAWS.  The first was back in 2014 when my (then puppy) chihuahua was old enough to be neutered. I specifically chose this place based on two reasons: Positive Yelp reviews and being able to take appointments on Saturday without interfering in my work schedule. My chihuahua's appointment went very well. We dropped him off in the morning and he was finished in the early afternoon. He was a little off his game for a few hours after surgery, but by the next morning, it was as if nothing had ever happened. He was provided with three days worth of pain medication with post-op instructions which we followed accordingly. Our second experience involved getting a rescue chihuahua neutered. The price of this one was higher once they discovered that he was much, much older than we had assumed. Nevertheless, the surgery went smoothly and much like my puppy, he was as good as new. Once again, medication and post-op instructions were both provided. As long as they maintain their current hours and keep their prices reasonable, I see no reason to not recommend them. I'm sure there's absolutely nothing pleasant about having your huevos chopped off, but with two problem-free procedures, I'd definitely recommend them for your pets! Read Less

This place sucks.  Our Chihuahua has anxiety issues.  We took him along with our Rat Terrier in for a dental exam.  We told the place that the dog would bite if a stranger tried to get in his mouth.  The tech said it was no problem and said he would make a note of it in the computer.  They examined his teeth by allowing my girlfriend to hold his mouth open.  They then classified him as a grade 2 and our Rat Terrier as a grade 1 and charged us for the exam and we made an appointment.  Four days later we show up with the dogs and they turn us away saying that the chihuahua is too aggressive.   They also said our Rat Terrier is no longer a grade 1 but he's been upgraded to a grade 2.  They also refused to give a refund on the initial exam.It was a real hassle arranging time off of work for 2 visits to this place only to have the entire effort be a complete waste of time.  I wish I could give them negative stars. Dr. Fisher was just amazing, And made both my husband and I feel so much better about leaving our fur-baby. We left her at 8 am and got a call at 11 telling us that she was just waking up and she was doing great and we could pick her up at 1:30. The discharge instructions were very clear. The price was right as well, keep in mind they were not the cheapest and they were not the most expensive either, I'd call it middle of the road on price. What sold us was reviews from all over the internet and they send your pet home with the pain meds. Why would you not do this anyway? Some clinics do not do this and make you pay extra. My pets comfort was the goal in the end. In the end, we were very pleased with Lilly's care and I still can't say enough good things about Dr. Fisher, he was great and really loved up our Lilly to make her feel better too. Read Less

The vet tech even called me after Fitz was out of surgery to let me know he did well in surgery and was recovering post-opp. TDr. Fisher took time in the morning to explain to me how the procedure worked and walked me through other important seasonal pet health issues such as rattlesnakes, scorpions, and heat stroke. Fitz loved Dr. Fisher who was very gentle and had a warm heart. Dr. Fisher even sent us an e-mail a day after surgery to check on Fitz and make sure he was doing well. The clinic is clean, the staff is kind and warm hearted, and you can't beat the at-cost services!! I WISH WISH i could give PAWS a 5 star rating.  The price is definitely right. I am just so confused why they didm't send my dog home with a cone!!!! They didnt even ask me if i wanted one when I picked him up.  The surgery went well and they treated my baby like a king but he opened his wound up within the first 4 days home. I freaked out of course seeing his open wound. I called PAWS and they got me an appointment so i drove there again (45 min each way) and they stapled him back up and *sold* me a cone for him.  What do you know... that same night the staples are out and here is with an open wound!! Since it was after hours I couldn't get in touch with PAWS and I could not take off more work to make the 45 min drive each way so I brought him to a vet in Tempe that had early hours. The vet there took a quick look at the wound and knew that the staples fell out because the wound was already healing on its own and PAWS shouldn't have bothered putting staples in. They gave me a saline rinse to make sure the wound didnt get infected as it was healing up naturally. He has healed perfectly fine. I was REALLY upset with PAWS for a long time (thats why it took me  5 months to write this review. They are inexpensive and were great with my pup BUT they should have had the cone on him upon pickup. It would have saved me SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much time and money and that is not even being dramatic. Read Less

I had a wonderful experience in every aspect of getting my dogs spayed. I made the appointment online for the following week. I received a confirmation email and phone call the following day, explaining pre op instructions. Both of my dogs were scheduled the same day. I was greeted with extremely friendly and helpful people from the beginning to the end. They obviously have a love for all of the animals that they meet, and treat them like their own.The final cost was less expensive than it would have cost one of my dogs to get spayed by our vet. The incisions are tiny and healing quickly. They even include post op pain meds for no extra cost. The Dr. Followed up with an email the next day, "just checking" on how they were doing. I will recommend family and friends to PAWS as well as taking all of my future pets to them. Thank you PAWS!!! Read Less

I HIGHLY recommend this place. I took my English Bulldog to be spayed and have an umbilical hernia repaired. Dr. Diskin was wonderful and very informative. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and my dog was so attached to the woman at the front desk (I apologize I don't remember her name). She was very sweet to my doggy. Dr. Diskin was awesome. He is very straight-forward and I am just happy with the whole process. My dog is now on a stricter diet (Dr. Diskin informed me that she was a little overweight). I was able to make my appointment online and that was great, and I was reached no later than 24 hours and my appointment was confirmed. I took her in and the office was super clean. I just can't say enough about this place! It was affordable and I am happy with everything! All the other places I called wanted to charge an arm and a leg, and I really lucked out when I came across PAWS. I had called another spay clinic before I found PAWS and they didn't call me back for 3 days and in that time, I found PAWS online and didn't hesitate to make an appointment after reading the reviews. I would recommend that you do not go anywhere else but here for your pet to be spayed/neutered. They truly are superb. You won't regret it! Your wallet and your heart will feel good about it. My boyfriend and I brought our two male kittens here to get neutered, and we are extremely happy with this place. First of all, the lady in the front who handed us our papers to fill out was extremely friendly and welcoming. The way a employee's treat customers is VERY important to me. She held a conversation with us the whole time we were waiting which I thought was really nice. She alone made me very happy with the decision I made to come here. Especially since I recently had a bad experience with customer service at a vet I WAS using. We had Dr. Diskin and he was also very friendly. We had no problems at all. He did a great job with the kittens, and they were back to normal that night/the next day.Someone said that there are hidden charges but that was definitely not the case for us. It was $45 each cat, and we payed exactly $90 at the end of the day. They have great service and awesome prices. I wouldn't see a reason NOT to come here.

That's really all it came down to was service. I asked her what the hours were for the vaccinations and it just seemed like she was urging me to go elsewhere, not very informative, seemed agitated that I was asking questions and basically said they are too busy, that they are understaffed and they will be cutting off vacs early.

Read Less

Once arriving I was treated so nicely and given answers on my numerous amounts of questions. The wait time... I wait, there was a two minute wait!!! I have never had that before. Upon picking Jazz up ( which was the exact timing told) I was given great detail of the steps following. Receptionist, veterinarian, everyone was so amazing. I do not have one negative thing to say!!!! Great job!

Read Less

Very friendly staff!! We were able to get our cat an appointment within the week where the vet went over all of the options and explained what we realistically needed based on him being an indoor cat vs. an outdoor cat. They called to check up on our newly-fixed male twice. Two separate phone calls to make sure he was okay!!! Amazing! Wonderful service and great pricing. I've already recommended them to anyone I know in the Valley looking for a budget-friendly vet. Read Less

I am so happy I found a vet I can trust. I had my puppy Neutered about a week ago & I have received a email asking how she was doing, I was not expecting the visit to be so Pleasant, I love how I was treated my children had the chance to ask questions about how to train our puppy to do tricks and with the help of paws staff our puppy now is trained to sit, lay down & roll over ( in 1 week)! Such a small thing but every other vet I have ever been to always charges a arm & a leg & never makes me feel so welcome. Thank you Paws! :) Read Less

I will definitely be bringing my cats here whenever they need something done now. Read Less

They were very friendly and my dog loved the attention she received from the moment we walked in the door. I asked them to trim her nails which is a ten dollar charge. When I picked her up and was about to pay, they said they didn't have to do much to her nails so there was no charge for this serivce. The staff at Paws is very friendly like a used car lot. They will quote you a price over the phone and then when you take a day off work and visit them expecting to pay a certain price, they advise you it "could" be an additional $120. Don't be fooled, you will be charged this amount. It is sad that even doctors and vets cannot be trusted these days to be upfront about things. Send your business elsewhere. Read Less
