Our journey started Jan 7th with a visit to Stonecrest Animal Hospital and ended April 26th with our sweet baby girl  coming home in a box. Jan 7th we did take our sweet rescue Alaskan malamute dog to be seen by one of the vets at Stonecrest and April 25th was a disastrous day when we lost her forever.  She was crying all night and we were not sure why.The front desk personal was absolutely amazing, friendly and helpful but the vet told us that our type of dog is wimpy and "drama" and she looks ok to her. After few more days we went back because our dog was continually crying and the vet gave us some anti-inflammatory medication for her. After that our baby start loosing  her appetite,  stop crying for few weeks but at the beginning of April she lost her strength of walking. Went back to the vet, got x-rays done and we were told that looks like she injured her L3 and L4. The medication we received where not only expensive but they made our baby have seizures and they insisted to test her for Valley fever, that only cost us $400, when everyone know that Valley fever locates first in the lungs.  A week after that our baby past away. We will never get closer, we will never have peace not knowing what happened. They did not even follow up with a phone call to see if we are ok. The day she actually past they called to let us know that the Valley fever test was negative, NOT EVEN A CONDOLANCES CALL AFTER THAT. The second opinion we got, unfortunately to late was that she should have had a neurological consult and meningitis was on the top of there list.  The vets at Stonecrest, I am sure there are some good once out there, should  recognize when they have no clue in a pet care and guide the owner in the best direction so that owners like us don't have to loose there babies, we would have appreciate if the first vet in January would have sent us to a neurologist.I would think twice before I would take my baby to this place.Hurt doggie parentCarmen Read Less

We brought our dog here that was currently pregnant and Dr Blazer did an amazing job with her and her exam, then brought the puppies back to have her dock the tails, which again, did an amazing job!  The only issue I have with this clinic is they are super expensive, they charge for every little thing.  I was going to bring the litter in to have their first shots done (all together in one visit), but they are charging me the $59 office visit X 10! Really? $590 just for that? plus the charging of shots and they charge an office visit of $59 + $600 to spay? There comes a time where waiving the office visit should be validated. Read Less

We had been using a national chain group to care for our 'daughter' the last five years and started reminiscing about how we missed seeing the same personable staff each visit as we did in a rural area prior to living in Phoenix.  It got tiring hearing them refer to her as him and apparently not even looking at the appointment details before seeing the patient.  During our morning walks we spotted Stonecrest so stopped in to visit.  Glad we did as we are impressed with the entire staff.  Small business is the only way to go. Hi!  This place rocks!  My dogs are cared for, the Vets and staff are amazing!  Casey loves it there, as everyone is always happy to see her, and since the world revolves around her, its a winner every time. lol I've had to put one of my fur babies down here and felt love and caring all the way through the horrible experience. I've read the reviews below and whilst they might charge a little more, my piece of mind and the care of my animals cancels out a few extra dollars hands down.  I've had to rush my dogs in before for various things and no matter which Vet is there, they get me in.  Thank you, Stonecrest for doing what you do!  My Casey is now healthy and hairy and Cocoa, well, she is Cocoa. :) Read Less

I brought my dog in for a troubleome cough. The vet I had chose the least expensive route and treated my dog with medication. A week later I got a follow call from her. I was just so surprised. I was in shock about the great follow up. My dog was doing great up until a day before I put him to sleep. It was just a fast decision to get him out of his misery. I could tell that the Vet had empathy for me which to me, is rare as they see all kinds of things. When I arrived I was rushed in a room for privacy and could spend time with my pet. I was given reassuring words which helped me come to terms with my fast decision. The thing that truly touched me is that I received my dogs ashes in a beautiful wooden box with his name engraved on it and a week later a sympathy card. Every single staff member signed it and it was very touching. I would choose this hospital. The Vet I had was wonderful and I trust her judgement. Read Less

This is absolutely the worst place I've ever been. If I can give zero stars I would. I brought my dog in here because he was throwing up his food/had black stool and all my research of symptoms online suggested a blockage or ulcer. So I go in and explain what's been happening and that I want xrays. Vet says those would be unnecessary and says she'd rather do blood work. The results come back a week later and he's negative for everything(they did a FULL blood panel). Vet tells me "that makes sense because he didn't have symptoms for most of that stuff." I'm already upset at this point, why did I just spend $500 to test for things you didn't see symptoms for when I TOLD you the symptoms. I bring him back in three weeks later after he threw up a GOLF BALL SIZED ROCK. I tell them I just want xrays this time and some fluids to rehydrate him, he hasn't been drinking for a day or two. Vet again says xrays would be dumb, he already threw up the obstruction. I can just feel around his abdomen for more, lets get him on IV fluids and re-test his blood to make sure he's recovering. Again convinced by the "experts" I don't need xrays I say ok. Come to get him later that day and he throws up all over the front office, 3 times. They tell me "He did that earlier but we thought it was watery diarrhea." (even though I told them he'd been throwing up food as soon as he drank his water). Needless to say I'm freakin out at this point. "What makes a dog not hold food or water down?!?!" They reply with "Well if there is a blockage it wouldn't be able to pass so it comes back up the front, maybe we should take an xray, we can get him in first thing tomorrow morning." No lets do it now while he is alert and everybody is here. 5 minutes later xrays are done and we see another giant rock and they tell me it's life threatening because he's so weak he might not make it through a surgery. Oh, and we don't do operations here so you have to take him somewhere else. Sorry about this, we wont charge you for the blood work today(no kidding). So they clearly knew they messed up if they were offering to not charge for some services. Had they given me the xray I wanted when I first went in then it wouldn't have been a life threatening situation, just a routine surgery. They recommend two emergency clinics, one right across the street. Then proceed to tell me that they don't like referring people to that one because they don't like the front office(then why are you doing it?!!?). I ended up calling around on my own for the emergency surgery and EVERY SINGLE office says the first thing that should have been done for a dog throwing up his food and having black stool is an xray. Two of them even said I should go back and get my money back because it's definitely malpractice and they can lose their license over it. So I'll be pursuing that today. Read Less

I'm writing in support of animals everywhere. IF an institution is not equipped to do surgery, and an animal is exhibiting symptoms that require surgery, and money is the bottom line rather than the patient, it makes sense that they would push blood screens/panels rather than the necessary X-ray showing the animal requires the surgery they are unable to provide. Joey Dodd brought his beloved pet in, giving every symptom that would indicate an X-ray was necessary, and ultimate referral to a place that could handle the necessary surgery. INSTEAD he AND HIS DOG were placed in a horrific situation where the poor baby wasn't properly diagnosed in a timely manner, only to ultimately learn the dog couldn't have the necessary surgery due to his weakened state. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! In the end, a reputable vet was able to do the surgery and the dog is okay now. Thank goodness he was proactive and found a vet capable.Read Less

Their office is very homey and inviting. However, Stonecrest's rates are top dollar, and they also charge for many services that other vets usually don't charge for. They don't give you a break. For example:1.  They charge an extra  "blood collection" fee if you are having blood work done.2.  They charge an extra "sample collection" fee for a urinalysis.3.  You have to pay an exam fee when your pet gets vaccinations, even if you paid to have your pet examined a week ago!  If it wasn't for their high prices, I would recommend this practice.
