My 2 year old English Bulldog died last Wednesday. These guys denied me access and I had to drive 30 minutes to the next hospital. They could have been her saving grace but instead they decided to refuse me and as a result my sweet, amazing, English bulldog didn’t even get a fighting chance. We live in San Tan Valley part time and found Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic for our dog. The veterinarians and staff are excellent. They love animals and it shows. Our dog is not very social and the staff makes every effort to accommodate him. Lately our dog needed teeth extraction and when we came to pick him up, a staff member was sitting in the small kennel with him. The vets take all the time to greet us and our dog and are always thorough. We strongly recommend this clinic and only wish they had a second office in Flagstaff! Read Less

I'm new to town and called to get my dog in the same day due to limping.  I was able to get an appointment and also found out they are open one evening 4-8 which is so convenient to those who work days.  They made me aware of the minimum price and also text an appointment reminder.  I got in right away upon arrival.  The vet was so gentle and explained everything she was doing.  They gave me a price list and let me decide how to treat my dog with no pressure.  What impressed me most is receiving a call the next day to check on my dog.  I may even come down here from Phoenix when I move. The doctors and staff at Johnson Ranch Animal Hospital are exceptionally kind and caring. They always greet us with a smile. There is little to no wait time for our appointments. The exams are always gentle and thorough. They go the extra mile to make sure our kitties are comfortable and calm. Any treatments and/or surgeries are performed safely and with optimum results. Instructions for post op care and medications are clear. These are really nice people who are clearly animal lovers. Each visit is always followed up on with a phone call the next day. We recently moved in the area and needed a vet for our 4 kitties. We saw Dr Schmidt a month ago or so, Bunny (our Manx) was having some issues. He discussed options with us and wasn't quick to suggest expensive unnecessary tests, and we took a wait and see with the situation. We found a stray a fixed female, we called Missy and she was hit by a car, he looked her over and helped us make the very difficult decision that she would not make it and was in pain and would be blind in both eyes, and might be best to help her over the rainbow bridge. This was very emotional for us and there were alot of tears, they handled this with compassion and dignity. A week later to my surprise we received a condolence card about Missy and the everyone on staff signed it. You guys are the best!! All of my pitties have attended Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic since I moved to Queen Creek, a total of 10 years. Dr Schmitt is the best with his bright cheerier smile always happy to see you demeanor and thorough when examining my 4 legged tailed babies. The staff are incredible pleasant, helpful, attentive & since I've been taking my pitties are familiar. The staff one in particular Ms Kendra as far as I'm concerned Dr Schmitt 's right hand man have been working at the establishment just as long as I've been bringing my pitties. We live in East Mesa & drive past many animal Veterinary offices that are much closer to us on our way to Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic because they are that good! And because I am sick of getting ripped off from VCA that we used to use. Very compassionate and professional with that small town feel. The Doctors and staff really do care about your pet and you as well. We have been taking our dogs there for a few years and I have been nothing less than impressed. I do agree that the staff treated us both very well.  I don't agree with their prices. I was quoted $300 to $400 to get my dog neutered and microchipped. I ended up taking my dog elsewhere for that.  As far as shots and follow up care,  etc. I still take him. Read Less

Just moved from Texas and needed a vet close to home. At first I was concerned about some of the negative reviews I read, but I decided to give these guys a try because they're right across the street from my home. I have 2 small dogs, and their annual shots were due. From the moment I walked through the door, I was treated like I mattered. It wasn't just fake smiles and small talk... it was the feeling that they cared that was noticeable. Moving on into the back room, the assistant/tech was extremely loving and playful with my pups. One of my pups is skittish, and she made the extra effort to make him feel as comfortable as possible while she drew blood. The main thing I noticed was she wasn't in a hurry... she wasn't trying to get me in and out... she really cared about my dogs. Something that did rub me the wrong way is she didn't look at their vet records before handing me an estimate for shots they didn't need. I asked her to check the records that I emailed them, and she came back and politely changed the estimate. Then the vet came in. I was expecting him to be short with me, but he was the opposite. He was extremely kind and patient. Beyond that, he was a teacher. Seriously, he took the time to teach me... things like how to get my pups to relax when I brush their teeth... he showed me techniques and encouraged me to be patient. Then he demonstrated it on one of my dogs to show me... it was like he was Cesar Milan or something. Come to find out, he was the owner of the place! I could tell this wasn't just a J.O.B. for him, he really cared. Then the assistant/tech printed out everything that the vet said, including the things he taught me, so I wouldn't forget. And then she handed me a goodie bag with a couple of toys and some literature on the emergency vet clinics in the area. Bottom line, I'm making these guys my new vet. That being said, I do have 2 negative thoughts: 1: Their hours need improvement. My vet in Texas was open 7am-7pm, 6 days a week. Several times, I dropped the dogs off on the way to work, and picked them up on my way home. I do miss that convenience. 2: The facility feels very cold and hard... very sterile and not very inviting. They seem to be doing a little remodeling, but there's only so much you can do in the space they have. My vet in Texas had a homey feel, and was very spacious... they even had a little play area with toys in the waiting area. Such great people work here! I found a lost dog this morning, and when I called them to see how I might go about finding out if he had a microchip, they told me I could bring him in. They scanned him, loved on him, called all the numbers the microchip company provided and even gave me a leash so he's be safe walking around outside. The girls are putting his picture on the clinic's Facebook page. All of this for someone they'd never seen before. That's a lot of love for animals. I see why you have so many 5 stars, because you won't let the one stars stay published. I do not agree with the way you do business. If you would have done something for my little dog, it would have made me feel better, but you didn't. I feel I just handed you $524.65 for absolutely nothing. I did not see any x-rays or any blood work testing. I would like the results on both. (Get something for my money.) Even real doctors send you the results. I think you can afford the stamp! I had to bring my dog in when he started limping and they were awesome!! My husband had to work that morning so I had to go by myself with my two young daughters and our hyper beagle. I was running late and they still helped us. Both of my children were crying for most of the exam and they did not make me feel bad like so many do. They also gave my pup a toy at the end if the visit, and to top it off they offered to help me out to my car since I was struggling. Get a 2nd Opinion!We took our dogs there to get check ups & make sure they were up to date on everything. I mentioned that we had rescued the dogs and I noticed that they seemed to have had all their shots but I didn't see in their records that they had been on any heartworm preventative. So they recommended they be tested, as we were leaving they said that one of the dogs had a slight positive & they would send a blood test to the lab to be sure. The following day they called early in the morning & said they got the results & that our dog had heartworms, They gave us a treatment plan costing thousands of dollars. Of course first thought is panic and save my dog so we began the first part which cost us hundreds. Before undergoing the part of treatment which requires poisoning our dog & costs thousands of dollars we decided to get a second opinion. Guess what...he tested negative for heart worms, a year later stll tests negative. Sad to think what people will do for money! Read Less
