My dog died in pain all through that night. On the day before my dog died, his health visibly and physically deteriorated so I called PPAH and asked Dr. D for help. It was about 20 minutes before the closing time of 7 o'clock. I explained to Dr. D that my dog looked to be in a critical condition. My dog had collapsed on the floor and was shaking. He advised me to put the prescription dosage back to the proviso level and watch him for 2 days but never suggested to bring him in to PPAH immediately or take him to another emergency hospital. Why?For 12 hours we never imagined he would die in spite of his severe diarrhea and vomit because Dr. D was so confident about his his diagnostic and the recovery of our dog.At his last moment, he tried to crawl up as close as possible to my wife and winked only once as if giving his final word.I don't understand why the business manager made a comment on my review after 6months of his death and 5months after the review on YELP, which revived my sorrow. If he is really a caring person, why he never called me after his death.I'll provide another fact which contradicts manager's comment. On the next day of our first visit to PPAH, Dr. S called my wife to tell the result of outsourced blood test. She told that the result showed terminal blood cancer without doubt, our dog would die anytime soon, and nothing could be done to save his life, and directed my wife to bring the body to the hospital after his death. 3 hours later she called us and told that it wasn't a terminal blood cancer.3 months ago, the dog my daughter owned died of terminal cancer.Dr. H from Dynamite Creek Animal Hospital reconfirmed his reading of the blood test result with the laboratory doctor before telling the result. He also prescribed pain killer for the dog, so the dog died a week later without noticeable pain.I strongly do not recommend Pinnacle Peak Animal Hospital to any pet owners. For those who seriously care about the life of a pet and whose pet is diagnosed IMHA, AIHA, ITP and non-regenerative anemia, or difficult complicated diseases, you should take your pet(s) to another animal hospital that staffs knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate doctors. My dog, a sheltie, was diagnosed IMHA by Dr. D at PPAH and was prescribed Prednisone (Steroids). The medicine initially helped fight off the disease and my dog made quite a miraculous recovery. After seeing my dog recover, Dr. D decided to reduced the dosage by 33% of initial prescription. After three weeks, he decided to reduce the dosage the second time by additional 25%. He seemed to have decided on the drastic reduction just by looking at the value of hematocrit. I believe this drastic reduction in dosage caused my dog to died one week after the second reduction. Upon second reduction, the value of hematocrit was slightly down compared to the first reduction. My wife and I blindly trust the "Dr" for his recommendation because he was a licensed veterinarian. He was a very nice doctor though we are doubtful of his expertise or care. He lacked the knowledge of how serious reducing the steroid could affect an animal. Through out own research, after my dog passed, we found out that any doctor who's knowledgeable on IMHA would not have recommend such a drastic reduction in medication in such a short time unless certain conditions are met. We believe that if we could have taken our dog to an expert who had knowledge and compassion, our dog would still be alive today. So, if you really care about your pet and want an competent and compassionate doctor, I highly recommend looking at another animal clinic/hospital.
