Very disappointed with this vet. I had been bringing my 2 rat terriers here for several years and have watched this practice deteriorate over time. Lately, we had seen a revolving door of doctors with little continuity of service between them. And after several years of them treating my dogs, they refused to provide a prescription for arthritis medication for one of my dogs, after their surgery from several years ago left him with arthritis in what  can only be described as a poorly executed repair by them of his broken hind leg. They wanted to hold me hostage to quarterly blood samples before prescribing humane arthritis medicine for a situation they helped to create. Shame on this practice. I have since transferred the care of my little dogs to a more loving veterinarian who has shown compassion for them as well as continuity of care and sensitivity to the ongoing cost of caring for older family animals. I recommend Desert Tails as a professional and loving alternative to this poorly run  clinic. Read Less

I have been bringing my Yorkie Sammy to Scottsdale Ranch Animal Hospital and Groomers for years.  Our Doctor is Dr. Stolper.  He is one of the most comprehensive and caring vets we have visited in 13 years.  During his annual Dr. Stolper went through every little health concern that I had given Sammy's age.  I was so happy to hear that he is as healthy as he is sassy and will be with me for many years to come.  We are also regulars at the groomers who do a more comprehensive annual gland suppression than other groomers such as PetSmart and boutiques.  We love SRAH and highly recommend all the nurses, doctors and groomers.. DISCLAIMER sad story: we rescued a GSD from Saving Paws Rescue. 2 months in she escaped during a storm from fright in our apartment. Unfortunately she was hit by a car the next day and I had to drive out to pick her up at the spot she was left. I was extremely distraught and calling vets to find out where to put her to rest. Scottsdale Ranch was the 4th place I called as I was on the side of the road holding it together. The first vet told me 400 for cremation and return of the ashes. Another was 260. Another didn't answer.  They answered and told me 185. I headed there. They directed me to the side door and had a technician assist me. A week later a very nice card arrived from them expressing their sympathy.  This was my first time going to this vet and I had a card signed by 10-15 different people. They called me the next week to pick her up.  They use an outside service but explained everything to me.  I didn't know what to expect when I went to pick her up but I was surprised to receive this. A box and her paw print. And more condolences from the staff. What stood out to me was they did not try to gouge my pockets during a very stressful and emotional time as the other vets did. We plan to rescue another GSD and I have found my vet for life.  Thank you very much. Read Less

This is really a 0 rating. Absolutely HORRIBLE.  and  I have the pics of the INCORRECT bandages they applied to my cat, which caused 2 days of abuse/misery to my cat, as the vet should have admitted he did NOT know how to apply bandages to  CATs legs, instead of going ahead and incorrect applying RIGID splintlike bandages(that went from toe all the way up the whole leg, so that the cat could NOT walk, stand to get water , food, or even urinate/defecate properly) that is abuse! They should be ASHAMED of themselves!  They had me drop my cat off at morning and told me pickup at 5pm.  When I arrived to pick up,and saw my cat bandaged  like that,I asked the front clerk, where is the Vet? as  wanted to have discharge/care instructions, as to HOW in the world is the cat to stand? walk to litter box?eat/drink? The clerk said she did NOT know but that NO Vet was even there, they had ALL left for the day!!! UNPROFESSSIONAL AND UNCARING, to leave a poor, defenseless animal bandaged incorrectly to suffer for days, and to NOT even provide a WRITTEN care/discharge  to owner.  Charged UNNECCSARY gouging fees, said NEED cytology(because my cat could not stand/walk to eat/drink or urinat/defecate I box, with the incorrect bandaging they did, I had to go sunday night to ER, only place open, which charged me $150 to clean off the poop and pee that my poor cat had to all over itself and the bandages.  The ER vet applied the new bandages CORRECTLY, and stated that the Vet(Scottsdale Animal Ranch) must not have much experience bandaging cats, as they should have known NOT to bandage up the WHOLE  foot, and the wound was only on a small portion of the leg, not anywhere down near the toes! Ne Vet said NO Cytology was need and NO sedation and No debridement(Scottsdale Ranch had GOUGED me these UNNECCESARY charges)Scottsdale Ranch charged me over $350 dollars, and then the ER Vet who had to RE DO THE INCORRECT bandaging from Scottsale Ranch charged me $150.  The Vet who cares for my cat now with bandaging/wound care, said NO debridemnt has been necessary, NO cytology , and NO sedation.  and this Vet applies the bandages leaving toes unbandaged, so cat can stand/walk to litter box and can walk to eat/drink. I called this Merchant and also emailed them,  They first denied any wrong doing, then admitted they applied bandages INCORRECTLY! and said they would only refund me $55 for that   , I told them I want back cytology fee, sedation fee, etc and that I am out of pocket another 150 for the ER vet who had to REDO their mistake! they NEVER refunded me a penny! All Unprofessional and abusive to my cat. Also this Vet told me.YOU SHOULD PUT THIS CATDOWN!!   Who tells an owner to euthanize an animal because they have minor wounds to both legs from a dog bite???!!!!!  HORRENDOUS  .I burst into tears when he said that, HEARTLESS Vet,   I am disabled, with brainstem compression, and limited budget, so, 350 an 150  is a lot of money for me, but as I love my animal.  Would NOT think to put her down, and did not appreciate the Vet's CALLOUS and UNPROFESSIONAL remark.  To all those that have an animal you love/care for DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!  I have saved al the emails, and photos of incorrect bandage and re do/correct bandages.  So Disappointed in their service. We brought our dog here for necessary grooming services. The receptionist was helpful and we were able to get an appointment immediately. I note there are four dog stylists. Staff dealt with us quickly and efficiently for this first time patient. The services were accomplished and the dog ready before the promised time. The fee for service was slightly less than what we were quoted at a big box store nearby which couldn't provide service until the end of the day. My only disappointment was that the front desk was understaffed and not too effective. We had to wait to pay. 18 hours later our dog had an e-card for his birthday and the humans got the opportunity to start using an online pet portal to manage the dog's health. If we need a veterinarian at our second home I think we will go here. Read Less

First off, the vets at this hospital are wonderful.  Very caring, knowledgable and gentle.    Unfortunately, a few of the front office staff need some major help in customer service.  The blond lady at the front desk has a hard time being friendly to customers, and it often seems that they are under staffed.  I have waited up to 15 minutes to pick up a prescription or drop off a urine sample, just because they didn't have enough staff to help.   The groomers that are on-site are very good, but once again, be prepared to drop off your dog for a scheduled 10:00 grooming appointment and wait the entire day before the dog is ready to be picked up.  Which means the poor animal is stuck inside a small cage for  hours on end before actually getting groomed.  Another staffing problemt.  I have switched to another vet because there are too many well-staffed and friendly vet offices around scottsdale who appreciate my business. Dr. Stolper has been a close family friend for years, but I never knew him on a professional level until I moved back to AZ last month. For nearly a week after we moved here, my French Bulldog was simply not himself. Normally an energetic little guy who loves to run, I couldn't even take him for a walk w/o him laying down to rest every few minutes. His ears were clearly bothering him, (he gets ear infections frequently), but that had never slowed him down before. I feared it was Valley Fever, so I called Dr. Stolper on Friday night. He was completely booked all day Saturday, but was able to squeeze me in at 7am, which was an hour before they even opened. He cleaned my pup's ears & tail pocket, clipped his nails, and prescribed medicine for his ears. He also determined that he might have pulled a muscle in his back, for which he prescribed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Less than 24 hours after seeing Richard, my Frenchie was back to running circles around the backyard. I was completely astonished! I've never seen anything like it- back to 100% in less than a day. It was a miraculous change after weeks of being miserable and clearly in pain. I will never take Napoleon anywhere else.  Thank you Richard, you are truly a Godsend. Read Less

Our regular vet is in NJ so when our 1.5 yr old, 62 # Pit Bull, Molly sustained a knee injury at the dog park, we sought out some friends for a vet referral. With so many local vets, we chose the one with the most referrals from our dog loving friends. That was Scottsdale Ranch Animal Hospital. They have 6 DVM's in the practice; which one to pick. I tried to make an appointment with one of the practice owners but couldn't get into see him for a week and we didn't want to wait. I was scheduled with Dr. Scotti Gullison. Dr. Gullison had a very good resume and I was OK with her. As it turned out she was absolutely AWESOME to the tenth degree!!! She made us feel very comfortable, was very competent and very thorough. She explained everything. She suggested X-rays and we agreed. While Molly was sedated for the X-rays, she was also examined by Drs. Stolper, Baker and T. Nick. So in reality, Molly got a super consult by the other docs in the practice, which included the one I originally wanted. The decision was that she probably had a partial tear of her CrCL (ACL). It was decided we would watch and see for about 3 weeks and re-evaluate. They also suggested a blood test to eliminate Valley Fever as a possible cause of her limping. It was finally decided that it was in fact probably a tear or partial tear of her ACL. We made arrangements to see Dr. Ross Lirtzman, a board certified canine orthopedic surgeon and owner of the Animal Specialty Group of Scottsdale.  Molly was operated on 11 days ago and is doing great. A little about the practice itself. SRAH is in its own free standing building. The building has 2 entrances; one for dogs, the other for cats. They do grooming and boarding. The place is every clean. It does not smell of dog or cat. Well appointed but not over the top. The staff is very friendly and caring. The advantage of a practice like this with 6 DVM's is something I did not recognize until Molly got her super consult. When you have something tricky, it is nice to have a second or third opinion. This practice lends itself to that. They are big but treat everyone on an individual basis. I would highly recommend SRAH to anyone looking for a vet or to change vets. Read Less

Read Less

In our house we call Dr. Stolper is the "Dog Whisperer". He has such a way with dogs that they absolutely love him. Dr. Stolper has been our vet since we moved to AZ in 1986.  My daughter who is now married and has had several of her own dogs still has Dr. Stolper as her vet. It is hard to find a doctor of any kind that is more clinically competent, compassionate. generous as Dr. Stolper. The office is clean and the staff is wonderful. There are not enough words to describe how much Dr. Stolper and his staff mean to our family.

Read Less

Woke up this morning with a sick dog and a wheezy cat.   Saturday morning, but they still fit both of them in.  They have been absolutely amazing over the years, everything from clipping dog nails to putting my sweet older cat down after she was diagnosed with cancer. I also love that they have the place divided into two:  a cat side and a dog side, so that if I'm bringing in my cat, she's not surrounded by sniffing, barking dogs.  AND.....they have cats for adoption on a regular basis for only $40:  a deal! They are all around professional, caring people.  Thank you!
