Cold as Ice! If you are looking for compassionate animal care --- this is NOT the place for you. I brought my dog in with seizures. They were brutal. The meds they gave him, made him sick. They offered no help. When I asked if I could at least give him Pepto-Bismol they said I had to bring him back in again. I googled it instead. After $2K, they did not even call to check on him. It's all about the money. It's not about your dog. Read Less

My little Weimaraner was 14 1/2 yrs old. When we took her in to the emergency center at Blue Pearl in Scottsdale late last Friday evening I was desperate. She'd stopped eating. She had been battling cancer and had an abdominal mass that had already been drained once. Her skinny, frail body, sad eyes and kisses when I lay with her the night before told me what I needed to do. But that part of me that didn't want to let go wanted the mass drained one more time to give her some relief. The doctor and the staff at Blue Pearl were gentle, kind and caring in discussing the options with us. We decided to give the gift of love and released my dog to be happy and pain free. Thank you for taking good care of my little girl. Read Less

Wow!! All I can say is a huge Thank You!! What an amazing team you have! Thank you for helping us today with our sweet GSD Grizzwald! Knowing my finances were super tight after having Him in a boot camp for 3 weeks you offered care credit as an option. You determined he had kennel cough, fever and put him on the perfect treatment of antibiotics, IV hydration, and a home plan to get him through the day until he can see our vet tomorrow as today is Labor Day and all the vet office is closed. You were so busy but made time for him, and helped him make it through the night avoiding pneumonia ... hopefully!! Thank you to all of you!! Read Less

Everyone on the staff was helpful and kind.  Our dog ingested poison and was sent to Blue Pearl on the recommendation of her vet for 24 hour care.  Our dog Trixy needed to stay over 2 nights based on the amount of poison she ingested.  We were checked in quickly and offered to see Trixy before we left.  We were invited to stop in and see our dog or call anytime of the day or night to check on her.  Once Trixy came home they called us to check on her later the same day.  The facility was clean, which says a lot when you have sick pets 24/7. I've had to visit Blue Pearl 4 times this month, and one of my pets had an extended stay. The front staff was very welcoming and checking in was pretty quick! We met 3-4 Veterinarians while there, but 2 were exceptional - Dr. Herrera and Dr. Lubold. My pet spent a couple days there and I can't say enough nice things about the day staff, especially Brian, they were always very friendly, helpful, and compassionate. I would have given this place a 5 if it wasn't for their night staff, which were a little less considerate or caring. Read Less

We had to make the painful decision to say goodbye to our Greyhound after he broke his leg and we learned he had osteosarcoma. It was absolutely heartbreaking and everything occurred in less than 24 hours. My husband and I were fortunate enough to have Dr. Travis Linney with us when we had to make the painful decision to end our dog's suffering. Dr. Linney has amazing bedside manner. He was compassionate, kind, and helped us feel more at peace with our difficult decision. We had never met Dr. Linney before, and given the extent of our dog's broken leg we were unable to take him to his usual veterinarian. He treated us and our Eddie as if he had known us for years. It was a heartbreaking day, but we are glad that Dr. Linney was there with us. Thank you, Dr. Linney. You have a gift and you've chosen the right profession. I can tell that this office could be a great resource. However, they did not do very much for me at all! I was simply trying to call and see what their payment options and such looked like because I am a student and need to know more before going. Searching around the North Valley for a vet, I gave them a call. They were very rude to me and basically told me there are no emergency vets that can do a free evaluation or payment plans... Got off the phone with them and 5 minutes later I have found another vet office on this side of town that can help me. They also offer a free exam and they will allow me to make a payment plan after 50% down. I can't imagine what kind of day the receptionist must have been having to have treated me like this. I was polite and seeking basic answers. I am giving this business a bad review based on a revolting CSR experience. I reduced my 2 star to a 1 star review because of the other reviews I read. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt with a two star rating. Upon further examination, I don't feel as harsh rewarding a one star to a business based off my interaction and others. Read Less

Very unhappy with what I happened last week. I was referred to this place because my cats kidney numbers were through the roof. The Dr. suggested to flush out my cat with fluids and stay the night. There was no tests offered at all no suggestions nothing at all. I even asked about an x-ray to see what was going on in her body but they said they were so preoccupied with other patients they forgot to recommend it. I had a bad vibe the whole time. The dr called in the morning and said numbers got even higher. I said forget it pulled her put the next morning and took her to Vetmed on cave creek. My bill for Blue pearl was around 800.00 and she seemed worse. Vetmed did all the proper tests and kept her for 2 nights. Her levels were back to normal after medicating and flushing out her kidneys. My opinion if Ieft her at Blue Pearl she would have not made it another night. I am not happy at all. So heads up on this place just because it looks nice outside doesn't mean anything but an expensive bill. Read Less

I brought my dog in here in a terrifying state - he had heart failure and was unable to breathe or walk. The staff attended to him immediately. I was able to sit down with his doctor shortly after he was seen to discuss options. She recommended hospitalization and said that he still had a chance of bouncing back. They not only stabilized him, but also communicated directly with his cardiologist to recommend an appropriate treatment plan for the day we got home, and the following days. Dr. Caldwell was a pleasure to work with - she definitely knows her stuff! She's a straight-shooter, but compassionate at the same time. Jesse handled the intake & financials and she has a VERY calming & kind demeanor. She goes out her way to make you comfortable, and not rush any decisions that need to be made. I'm so appreciative of the care that my dog received, and my experience working with this staff and facility. :-)Read Less

We had a wonderful experience with Blue Pearl and I am so grateful for what they have done for us. My pitbull Rado came in last week with a severe rattlesnake bite. The staff at Blue Pearl raced out to my vehicle and quickly retrieved him. He was suffering badly. He was being transferred from their other facility in Phoenix. They promptly took him to the back in triage, assessed his damages, and promptly had me in a back room talking to the amazing Dr. Travis Linney. This man is wonderful with dogs and the owners/parents of the dogs. He is kind, warm, and genuinely cares about the animals (and the family of the dogs). He is extremely knowledgeable with veterinary medicine. I am very impressed with Dr. Linney. I actually grew to like him a lot. He was really nice to me and had a great personality. Another doctor I want to mention is Dr. Katherine Smith, she is a critical care specialist. She has been absolutely wonderful with Rado. She knew exactly what to do to save his life, from the amount of medications to treating his pneumonia. She was kind and gentle with him, smart and straightforward. She is an outstanding physician with a very good bedside manner. She's also beautiful and Rado loves the pretty ladies. The last two days of Rado's stay Dr. Dana Caldwell has been caring for him. She is also an amazing doctor, very smart, kind, and sensitive. She was wonderful with assessing the issues with Rado and being very careful about his medications. She was extremely knowledgeable and very sweet to Rado (and me). I cannot say enough about this team of professionals. I have never been treated better by an emergency facility. The front desk staff has been wonderful with me. They answered all my questions, they are kind and sensitive, knowing how scared I was that Rado wasn't going to make it, Kayla and the others (too many to name all of them) comforted me when I came in and talked to me about Rado, they got the staff on the phone promptly every time I called wanting an update, and when I came to visit they got me back to Rado immediately. When Rado peed all over the lobby floor I felt so bad and they just laughed and said, "this happens all the time, don't worry about it". The nurses and techs caring for Rado 24-hours a day were amazing, they were smart and sweet, they took care of my baby like he was their own. I will never forget the love and kindness shown by the staff at this hospital. I truly did not think Rado was going to pull through this, they saved his life. They knew exactly what to do in every situation presented to them. This was not a simple snake bite. Rado had some other issues, he has Cushing's Disease, he has a thyroid issue, he has arthritis, and he's 12 on top of all of this. He is alive today because of the experts at Blue Pearl. Thank you so much to all the staff for everything you have done for the past seven days. Rado and I will never forget you.Read Less

I came in today with my puppy that was bit by a rattlesnake. Unfortunately, the start to my visit there was less than ideal. As you can imagine I was in panic mode and very upset. The front desk staff was incredibly rude! I expected to be greeted with open arms and to be reassured and made more comfortable, unfortunately I was made to feel like a bad owner, and an inconvenience to the man and woman at the front. They then began to laugh and have an irrelevant conversation instead of being compassionate that I'm not in a good state of mind and do not want to listen to them talk and laugh. Then the man asked me for my drivers licence and debit card and as I was getting it out he began to text and then I let him know I was ready to pay and he snapped at me that he needed a minute, and continued to text. The only thing that saved my visit from being an awful experience was that the vet and techs were very nice and there was a different girl at the front when I left named Hailey and she was very nice! I previously have sent a lot of business here before and I am second guessing doing it in the future because of how I was treated this morning.Read Less

If Dr. Majoue is the doctor on duty please go to another clinic. Last night I took my cat to the clinic around 10:00 PM because he was coughing and gurgling. It sounded like he had fluid in his lungs. The concern is that he developed pneumonia. He had surgery three days prior to have a tooth extracted and he had a bad reaction to the pain medication. He had been at my private vet on Thursday and Friday. The vet said to take him to the clinic over the weekend if he had problems breathing. I explained to the doctor that my cat was scared and to please let me hold him while she listened to his lungs. She completely ignored everything I requested and brought him to the back room for an exam. Of course he started crying. Then they brought him back into the room with a very tight chook stap and a plastic collar around his neck. As she walked in she gleefully said "I bet you could hear him screaming - like she enjoyed it". I immediately check what was around his neck. This is an elderly cat that had dental surgery three days prior and was having problems breathing and they put a tight cord around his neck and leave it on when they bring him back to me in the exam room. They were going to leave him with me with the tight cord. What if I did not notice the chord around his neck. I expressed that I wanted it removed and the nurse said he was fine. I could not even put my finger under the strap it was so tight. I told them to remove it immediately. I have never had my cat treated so poorly. My opinion is when my cat got upset in the back it was payback and they put that tight cord around his neck to teach him a lesson. He is a small loving animal. Plus she called him overweight. He is 15 pounds and a large Maine Coon. He is not fat! The doctor said she was unable to examine him because he was upset and needed to go into a "time out'. There was no way I was going to let her take him back into that back room again for an x-ray. I told her to give him an antibiotic and I will take him to his primary doctor on Tuesday morning. She did write the prescription but not sure when or how she did any exam but I was charged for the exam. Dr. Majoue is unable to think outside the box. Her response to everything is we are a corporation and we do things one way. She would not acknowledge anything I said. Her opinion and approach was the only thing that mattered. She appeared young and perhaps not mature enough to think on her feet. A corporate millennial robot. Really, the doctor could not listen to my cat's breathing while he sitting relaxed on my lap because it was a VIOLATION OF CORPORATE POLICY. I will say I went to this hospital in March for another reason and that doctor was good. Read Less

After my initial 1-star review for BluePearl I did have the luxury of discussing the situation with staff members, including the head-honcho vet, the toplofty and vainglorious Dr.Herrera, regarding the treatment of our late, great dog, Jake. Originally, I had written that BluePearl was either blind to the obvious (that our dog was dying) or that they were just money-grubbers and were taking advantage of it, or both. I'll tell you, it certainly seems like both because these people act way short on showing any intuition regarding the condition of your pet, and are overreliant on pricey testing for the "answers." Or maybe that's just the crooked game they play? This all started when our beloved little loverboy dog, Jake (who wanted to meet every single person he ever encountered, and make friends with any animal he could, and he melted a lot of people's hearts because of it) suddenly began throwing up and had diarrhea of blood that just wouldn't stop. Now one would think that the workers at BluePearl would have seen something such as this before, or would know something about these types of symptoms. But no, it appeared as though this was the first time they had ever encountered such a scenario, ever. And the only solution to find out what was going on with our dog was, of course, "aggressive action." So "aggressive," in fact, it meant showing us an invoice for just shy of $2,000 in "tests" and overnight "hospitalization." My gut told me that this whole scheme stunk to high heaven, by employing either an apparent overreliance on break-the-bank tests and an absolute underreliance on any semblance of horse sense on the part of the staff; OR, that they're such money-grubbers that they see nothing but dollars signs on people's foreheads, regardless of whether your pet is on death's door or not. Either way it's not good. One can't help but wonder what did vets did before all these highfalutin tests? Guess what? They had to use their experience and intuition! Now the dog's mom was hesitant to spend that kind of money "on a dog that could be dead in the morning." Well, she was right. He was dead the next morning. And we were out the money, less the whopping $350 they refunded us because the dog wasn't even there long enough to rack up the full charges! But they don't have to be de facto money-grubbers if they can't think on their feet. If all they're going to do is to rely solely on testing in perpetuity, and throw darts at a board when it comes to what exactly is wrong with your pet, then the money will roll in as though they just won the lottery! With your money. In our case, we received a message a couple of hours after we first dropped off our dog stating that his bloodwork was uncertain. But the next morning we were hearing something different; our dog was suddenly "full of infection" and that he would need extensive, long-term hospitalization.   What was wrong with our dog? Well, they didn't know. In fact, they weren't any closer to figuring that out than they were $2k earlier. And we were facing the prospect of upwards of another $20k(?) in tests, drugs, and hospitalization? The bottom line is that all things look alike in the dark. And these people act blind and operating without a map; with an apparent modus operandi of feeling their way through the darkness and run a battery of tests than to ever admit something such as, "This dog ain't gonna make it." Not to mention that this place really plays upon your emotions like a maestro with a symphony. They know all the chords to strike. Your pet is on death's doorstep and they take full advantage of it to persuade you that more, more, more can be done. Ultimately, we went to people who were all acting as if they were blindfolded and playing pin the tail on the donkey. And we were out upwards of $2k with nothing to show for it but a dead pet the next morning that suffered while the cash register is ringing cha-ching, cha-ching for BluePearl the entire time our dying dog was in agony.  Regardless, I did talk to the haughty, brassy, and aristocratic head honcho vet, Dr. Herrera, after the fact, and he went over all the charts. From his lofty ivory tower, he confidently declared that our dog "was not dying" when we put him down. He wasn't? Then why did we put him down? I'll tell you why: We put him down because he was dying! We didn't need their endless fishing expedition of tests to see with our own eyes and smell with our own noses that our dog had three paws in the grave and the other on a banana peel. But if he wasn't dying why did they tell us, after we made our final decision, that we were suddenly "doing the right thing"?! Because they knew! But if they can play on your emotions and give you hope, while chiseling another $20k out of you, why not?My advice: steer clear of this place. They will bleed you dry if they can get away with it. At best, there's major competency issues; at worst, they cheat until caught and then lie about it. Read Less

This place has wonderful staff. Of course the price is going to be a little high since they are an emergency clinic. I went back in December because I had to put my 20 year old kitty (and child) down due to her age. I didn't want her to suffer and had been a total wreck trying to call places to find the right fit. It felt like everyone I called was just cold, kind of turned off from my situation. I wasn't looking for a pity discount, I'd pay anything to know she went peacefully. I wanted to feel like she mattered to them, like she did me. And that she would be treated with great care. When I called Emergency Animal and spoke to the front desk (I believe her name was Susan?) they were so friendly. I was struggling to gain my words and she just seemed to understand fully. We decided this was the right place for us, so my husband and I gathered Precious into her little bed and headed over. They took us right back and we're quick to get Precious an IV going to make sure she wasn't in pain. They gave us plenty of time to sit with her and talk over any questions we may have. She looked very at peace, no pain at all. The doctor came in and when we were ready gave her the last injection. It was the most peaceful passing I could have asked for, for my little girl. We went with the cremation as well for her so she would always be with us. The staff was so wonderful and all gave me hugs. The front desk lady I had spoken to originally even became teary eyed and was wonderful with all she said to help me get through it. I wouldn't ever hesitate to bring any of my babies there if they need something. This staff really cares about you and your fur baby. Read Less

It stinks seeing all these poor reviews because my family had an awesome experience here. So my family's soft coated Wheaton terrier, Shelby, had a cyst on her back burst a couple months ago. It was looking pretty bad and we were afraid it would get infected so we took her here. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and we were assisted right away. The vet and vet tech were both patient with my family, and handled shelby with great care. They cleaned up her cyst quickly and gave us clear instructions of what to do next. Although pricey, I was really happy with my family's experience with this animal hospital. Read Less

I went in on Christmas Day because I found some live worms in my dog's poo. I brought the sample in, they looked at my dog and the sample briefly, and said they knew exactly what to do, but it would be about an hour wait since my dog wasn't critical. One hour turned into three and a half, and Jack kept going down the list. That part I get... just bad timing on my part. Since Jack was actually going further down the list the longer we waited, I decided to leave and try a different place. I asked for my sample back so I could show the worms to the next place I went. They told me they had thrown the sample away. They didn't ask my permission to throw it away, and they refused to go through the trash to get it back. In fact, they acted pretty put out when I asked them to retrieve it. So now I had nothing to show to the next place. I got a little bit of a flip response: "Just wait til he poos again and take that." Well, the worms weren't showing up in EVERY poo, so I'd rather just get the sample back that I brought in! That knocks off a star.To knock off the second star, eventually they agreed to find the specimen in the trash, and call me back to come get it. They never bothered to call me back. Maybe they just said that to get me out the door. To knock the third star off, when I finally got Jack diagnosed, the fix WAS A SINGLE PILL. Yeah, after waiting almost four hours, AND in light of the fact they threw away my only sample, this place refused to simply just shove one single pill in my dog's mouth. I get that they were dealing with emergencies. I get it. But they screwed up, threw out my sample, and refused to fix their own mistake... a fix that would have involved simply placing a single pill in my dog. When I screw up at work (and we're all human... everyone makes mistakes) I cop to the mistake, apologise if warranted, and then I FIX IT.The two stars isn't for the wait... it's for the attitude and the refusal to fix (or even acknowledge) their own mistake by just this once skipping the formal exam by the doc and giving my dog the single pill they already said they knew he needed. Sorry to all you pet owners out there that it took me so long to write this. I'm still at s loss of words what this place did. Took my St Bernard in because my vet told me to so he could be watched overnight and have fluid drained from his lungs the next morning. He was on Meds for Valley Fever and was doing good except he had the fluid build up in his lungs. Made his breathing hard and would cough when standing up. The next day they were suppose to drain his lungs. Called several times and they did nothing yet. Then aroud 2 they wanted to do blood work again and if course i said yes to help him. Then around 4 they called and said he passed away. Could not understand how that could happen. Rushed up there and sure enough he was gone. Very upset with them and they still presented me a hefty bill. Let alone for his stay overnight was $1870.00. Please if all posible do not take your loved one to this place. To top it off, I had his brother at home that was so confused and crying for him. Took months for him to overcome since they were together since birth for almost 5 years.Read Less

This place will use your distress against you and your wallet!!.. they will make you think there are no other options beside paying them obscene amounts of money or euthanizin your pet.. I understand if it's 2am, but if you have ANY other option, or have at least an hour or 2 to wait for a real vet, please use it. They will tell you your pet is dying, you have a very small window to make a decision, and either pay $8000+ or we will have to put down your pet.. don't let your emotions make a bad decision. Use your smartphone, call whoever you can, research your smartphone internet, and don't put your pet down if you don't have to. They told us $8000+ or euthanasia. We waited a couple hours for the vet down the street to open, they charged us $1600 high end and took her in immediately. (Scottsdale and Thunderbird, only 5min away) Read Less

I took my dog here at 4am after his first seizure. After an hour of talking to Dr Skaggs I believe, he was pretty nice for the most part and gave us options on how to love forward. We went ahead and paid roughly $860 for my dog to stay over night to get monitored. This seemed like a ridiculous amount but of course I'm not going to risk taking him back home... What is absurd is after taking him home and unwrapping his bandage (from his IV taken from his leg) is that you can obviously see razor burns all over. His leg was shaved and it was shaved too deep and now his skin is irritated. Several days later you can see the burns and irritation kick in. And yes I've been watching him and trying to stop him from licking it. This was done at 4am and you would think whoever was doing this had the time to do a delicate job and not make him feel worst than he already is. My poor dog is obviously very uncomfortable all day due to this mediocre job. The 3 stars is mainly for the morning staff who was all very kind and did a wonderful job assisting us when picking him up around 12pm. Dr. Herrera was very genuine and had the decency to sit down with us in the lobby and answer any questions or concerns we had. He is by far the best doctor we've come across in Scottsdale! Read Less

Unfortunately I have had to take my chronically ill dog here many times over the past few years. The last time, which ended yesterday, the staff really went above & beyond. Lady was there about 18 hours and saw at least two shifts of techs & two doctors. Both doctors were AMAZING & very caring. Lady was very sick and euthanasia was the best choice for her, but they gave me plenty of time to reach that decision on my own & gave her great supportive care the entire time. Although we arrived about 8:30pm, I refused to leave to go home to sleep - so they let me and my boyfriend sleep there, in one of the unused rooms, and the tech even gave us blankets! Once it was time for the euthanasia, the doctor was again very wonderful about the whole process & brought her in wrapped in the blanket I had put on her earlier. I had a very specific & unusual request for her memorial, and the doctor and staff were so accommodating- when they didn't have to be. His work was done, I had paid, but the doctor still took the time to assist us with all of our requests which meant so much to me. I cannot say enough good things about this place! In regards to some other comments - yes emergency veterinary care is extremely expensive. It's unfortunate but it is what it is. Best to be prepared for emergencies.  I've used Care Credit twice, and the front desk staff can sign you up for it easily if you qualify. Read Less

It's all about the money and ordering tests just to make sure the bill makes you cry! My story--- took my dog in for fever and joint swelling. Saw similar symptoms with my dog's sibling two months ago and she was diagnosed and treated for tick fever. Gave history to vet and staff. They wanted to keep him overnight for observation. Also recommended, full blood screening as tick screen (less $$$) would not show anything when it was negative two months ago. Told I needed a full blood screen that they would send out to a lab to check liver functions, etc. I showed Dr. Marquez (vet) the prescription for antibiotics given to his sibling. I agreed to them administering anti-inflammatory meds for the pain and joint swelling. Told them I go to Diamondback Animal Pharmacy in Phoenix for meds as they are 1/5 the cost (no mark up) and I would buy enough pills from them to last until tomorrow, when the pharmacy opens to get the rest of the anti-inflammatory meds and antibiotics. Never saw the vet again. Instead, assistant came in with the bill which included a proposed blood test that would be sent out to a lab that cost $200 to figure out which tick fever he has (Rocky Mountain, etc.) Assistant admitted that the treatment would be the same no matter which version of tick fever it is--so why do it? No answer....When the assistant returned I was given the pills to last for 24 hours and sent on my way with my sick dog. They refused to provide me with prescriptions and told me to follow up with my regular vet who would give them to me.......Also said if he got worse to bring him back--NO THANKS.........................Like I said ---it's all about the $$$$$$--- while there a lady came in with her dog for a baby rattler bite....slight swelling, but dog was acting well.....$1000 later for the anti-venom (versus $3500, because they recommended that the dog stay overnight, just like mine). Lady was smart enough to say NO to the overnight upcharge as well....... DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE GOUGED! Read Less

My wife and I adopted an 8 week old puppy who had been neutered the day I picked him up at the rescue shelter. As the evening progressed it was obvious that the pain was increasing. I took my puppy to the EACS. Upon arriving I was greeted by Sandi at the front desk. She immediately usher me back to a room to keep the puppy separated from other animals to avoid contact given his age. Shortly after we were greet by the technician, Scarlett, who immediately ushered us into another room that she said was more "germ" free. Scarlett took some vitals. She was so gentle and kind with my puppy and spent additional time discussing the situation with me.. We waited what I would expect is a reasonable time given we were in an emergency clinic with other animals that needed attention too. Dr. Davies joined us and evaluated Cooper. Ultimately the diagnosis was the Cooper needed more pain medicine which Dr. Davies administered. Dr. Davies explained discussed Cooper's situation thoroughly and provided me ample time to ask questions. Following our discuss Dr. Davies provided an extremely thorough recap and instructions moving forward. To conclude, everyone at the EACS was terrific...professional, attentive, and caring. Hopefully I will not have a situation that necessitates a return; however, should there ever be one I would not hesitate to go to the EACS. Further, I will recommend EACS to everyone I know who has a pet. Kudos to everyone at EACS.Read Less

We had an emergency with one of our dogs related to a chronic condition.  Been there, done that several times over the past 2 years.  If it happens during day hours, our regular vet handles it.  If after hours, we have no choice but to go to an emergency clinic.  Friday night, we had the misfortune of going to Emergency Animal Clinic where we experienced one of the absolute worst experiences imaginable.  To be fair, this same dog had gone to this same clinic twice before for the same issue.  Both times, veterinarians were on staff and we received the help we needed.  The person on staff Friday night, I'm not sure she was an actual veterinarian. A insertion of an IV catheter was approved by us for a specific purpose - injection of medication to hopefully stop the next seizures in the cluster.   The alleged veterinarian inserted the catheter - but that was it.  Apparently her preferred course of action, despite what she lead us to believe,  was to simply wait until the next seizure so that diazapam could be administerd to stop it (the single seizure).  That our boy already had diazapam on board, and that his seizures have never lasted as long as a minute...  irrelevant.   Then again, nothing we had to say seemed relevant.   She clearly didn't even think it necessary to even read the intake form or maybe she would have understood the futility of her preferred treatment plan.  Fact of the matter is, unless someone was perched in front of the cage, with a syringe in hand, at my dog's first twitch, there is no physical way that diazapam could be administered before the seizure stopped on it's own!  So, in short, the alleged veterinarian didn't help our dog, she simply caused him to suffer, sitting in a cage in a strange place, with a needle in his leg.  Had we not demanded him returned to us, considering the veterinarian had no intention of treating him for the reason we brought him in, and had been sitting in the waiting room for those hours,  chances are he would still be in that cage today!  Even at the last minutes, when we had lost patience over the fact that it was a very slow night and our dog STILL wasn't getting the treatment he needed, all the alleged vet had to do what what she said she was going to do in the first place and we would have left angry, but not as enraged as we remain.   But she refused, implying the best course of action to keep our dog, untreated, alone in a cage, with a needle to nowhere in his leg,  for who knows how long!  While we paid the emergency fee and 'exam' fee, though there is no guarantee the alleged vet actually looked at our dog, we refused payment for the unnecessary IV catheter, originally believed by us to be for the purposes of injecting medication to stop the cluster.   With what happened Friday, I made contact with the clinic via e-mail on Saturday.  I really didn't expect a response until Monday.  None came.  Tuesday, I received the "please rate us" e-mail.  So I did, filing out the 'internal survey' spelling out exactly what happened, and confirming a collection agency wouldn;t be pursuing us over the unnecessary (due to alleged vet's inaction, to the bitter end) for the catheter fee.  That was when I discovered that the 'testimonials' page has been disabled on their web site, and they only post positive ones on the front page.  Hmmmm....Just realized it's Thursday, and there still has been no attempt by Emergency Animal Clinic to make contact, not to confirm that we wouldn't be charged for the unnecessary catheter, not even to stroke us to keep our business - we have 14 dogs - making us frequent fliers, Consider this:  With 14 dogs, we are 14 times more likely to require emergency services. If we aren't even worth a little political stroking over what we expected to be presented as "a misunderstanding" to try to keep our business, how much do you think you're worth if you have only 1 dog with little reason, except dire emergencies? Our 9 week puppy became ill in a matter of hours. She was acting very strange. Her ears were pinned back and she couldn't lay down. She would only sit. Her head was jerking side to side, she couldn't control it.  It was apparent something was very wrong. She continued to get worse.  It was almost like a seizure that didn't stop.  We were terrified.  We took her to Emergency Animal Clinic on Scottsdale Road just South of Pinnacle Peak. They were fantastic! They told us she was probably having a reaction to an accidental ingestion of a medicine, (which ended up being adderall) and wanted to do a urine test. Within 10 minutes they figured it out, and put her on fluids. They sedated her so she could finally sleep, and kept her overnight. She is doing GREAT!  The vet, Doctor Skaggs was wonderful! Caring, kind, and most importantly, knowledgeable. The clinc was spotless, and the staff was helpful and compassionate. They stayed in contact with me, and called when they said they would. I wish I could use them for my regular vet office visits! They also initially thought our puppy would have to stay 2 nights. She ended up staying one, and because it wasn't a full 24 hours, they gave me a substantial refund! When does that ever happen?I feel very fortunate to have gone to this clinic.

Use your smartphone, call whoever you can, research your smartphone internet, and don't put your pet down if you don't have to. They told us $8000+ or euthanasia.

Read Less

My 9 year old mixed breed dog was bit by a rattlesnake. EAC offered an expeditious and compassionate response. Their services were priced significantly lower compared to the next closest 24/7 vet. ($2400 vs $4500) AND they refunded what my dog did not need. I could not have asked for better service in this crisis. They were conservative, competent, direct and fair. My dog is fully recovered. I told everyone in dove valley ranch to put EAC in their phone. You should too.

I wish I could give them more stars! Read Less

My siberian husky went from happy and energetic to lethargic and non responsive in a matter of hours. The staff was very quick, efficient, friendly and have someone on staff or in the building for everything imaginable. Emergency exploratory surgery revealed an undetectable cyst on his prostate had ruptured into his abdomen causing him to go into septic shock. The surgeon and doctor kept me in the loop during the process and were very kind. My husky was too weak to endure surgery and passed away shortly after. The staff was very friendly and understanding. They surprised me with a clay paw print and hand written card as well as helped me arrange for his cremation. My dog was my life and they made the hardest thing I have ever experienced as painless as possible for both my husky and me. Thank you everyone at Emergency Animal Clinic Read Less
