I've been bring my dog Tiki to Baseline Animal clinic for over 4 years. Just recently I had to put my Tiki down due to illness. Just would like to say that Dr Finch. and staff where great , caring not just to my dog by to myself . Dr Finch did everything to safe my pet. At the end I had no chose but to put him down. Unfortunately, after years of coming here I was forced to change vets after the front desk staff was continuously rude to me when I would call to schedule appointments for my dog to have his nails clipped. I also called once to inquire about scheduling a visit for my cat to have surgery on her leg. They basically were uninterested in assisting. If I was just a random person calling in I could understand, but I am an established client. I would look elsewhere before you try to establish yourself with this veterinarian. Read Less

This practice is awesome. The front office ladies are amaze balls. This place was referred to me by my good friend and fellow patron @[563672007:Marissa Sorn] and I'll always be thankful to her. Prices are very fair and Dr. Finch does not rush you or skimp on getting to know you or your animal and also follows up on things and really suggests things for the long term care and benefit for the animal versus rush you into a temporary solution that costs lots of money and doesn't really help you or your furry family members. The lobby is very clean and doesn't smell strongly of animals like many animal clinics do. I was helped quickly and we were taken into the exam room right at the scheduled time. The vet tech who took care of the initial paperwork and the preliminary exam was very nice and personable. She understood that my dog has some issues with strangers (the pup was abandoned and likely abused) and made it a point to let him sniff her hand for as long as he wanted to before she took his temperature and heart rate. She even let him sniff the stethoscope beforehand so he wouldn't be as weary of a strange object being pressed against him. She and another vet tech were also nice enough to trim his nails in the exam room (something they normally do in the back) with me present to help keep my dog from freaking out too much. He absolutely hates having his nails trimmed and puts up a huge fight. So, it was very nice of them to accommodate his needs. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars, however, is because of the actual veterinarian. I was not impressed at all by Dr. Dobbertien's bedside manner. I had mentioned previously to the vet tech that my dog does not like people and was likely abused by a man. I mentioned it again to Dr. Dobbertien, but instead of taking it slow and letting my dog get comfortable with him (like the vet tech did), he briefly stuck his hand near my dog's nose for a few seconds, then immediately began poking and prodding. In the span of what felt like about 30 seconds, he had grabbed my dog's lips and pulled them up to examine his teeth, took his heart rate (no stethoscope sniffing this time), and groped at his testicles (or lack there of, as my dog is neutered). No fanfare, barely a "Hey, how are ya?". It felt as though he was rushing through the examination so he could get it over with as quickly as possible. After that, he administered the shots, gave some quick advice on helping with my dog's separation anxiety, and was gone. He even forgot to exam my dog's ears (which I was told would be part of the $45 annual exam). Overall, I just felt Dr. Dobbertien wasn't very considerate towards my dog. It felt more like he was going through the motions rather than trying to build a rapport with a new patient. My dog is family and I want him to be treated by someone who cares about his well-being just as much as I do. That being said, my experience with the vet techs and everyone at the front desk was good enough that I will likely go back to this establishment, I will just be requesting a different doctor for any future visits. First off, most of the staff I met were very nice. But the vet I ended up with was horrible. My cat was drooling and I was scared that her teeth were bad. So I scheduled a check up.He came in without a proper introduction, then droned on about how he couldn't make a proper evaluation without her teeth getting cleaned, guilt tripping, and sighing like he'd rather not be there.At one point he said "She might have dementia". Out of nowhere. She was just laying down on the counter. He didn't ask about any of her behavior before hand.Even the positive he managed to make into an negative. He mentioned that she was aging well, only to say that "The only reason being that she's an indoor cat". So back to the main issue: Teeth Cleaning. They were pushing for me to get it scheduled immediately. But they didn't go through any of the RISKS that come with putting an elderly cat under anesthesia. Or the complications that a cat may have if they yank a tooth out. Not to mention that once you sign the paper they could pull teeth without consulting you (which has its ups and downs). They had a base price for the operation and then a dozen mini charges that could make the procedure quickly become costly. Once the Vet left me, the Tech came in and started guilting me too! Before she was completely nice, and I can only assume it was from the Vets bad influence.I left without scheduling an appointment and started cleaning my cats teeth at home. Only to have her totally perk up; almost all of her discomfort is gone after a month of daily wiping and using gel/water wash/uncooked chicken bones.Which guess what, they didn't even talk to me about cleaning her teeth at home! Or switching her diet or anything!They didn't even talk to me about her being slightly over weight. And what spurred me to write this review is that they missed the fact that she has arthritis, which is ridiculous! Never coming back here! Very disappointed. They misdiagnosed my dog as having food allergies rather than fleas, and unfortunately now the fleas have migrated to my cat too and I am finding them everything. VERY. DISAPPOINTED. I feel like this should have been an easy find from a vet. Will not be returning. Read Less

I Love Baseline Animal Clinic.My Bulldog Lil rock has suffered from bad allergies her whole life. keeping up on this is hard sometimes. Lil rock looked like she had a stoke of some sort.. her face looked a little off. I took her to my OLD vet and they said she need 10,000$ worth of surgery , the problems with her ears are now past the point of my care and surgery was the only way. Or she needed to be put down. I was so upset. A friend suggested I visit Dr. Finch and I'm so glad he did. Dr. Finch looked at Lil rock and told me things are just fine. Lil Rock did have a really bad ear infection, and some treatment was needed. But this was not life or death and I still have my Lil rock. Thank you Baseline animal clinic Read Less

I did the unthinkable the other day and went to another vet.  Let's just say I loved the feeling of no cares given about my pet and just was there to make money.  After the second time of them wanting to just take my money and nothing else I decided to get a second opinion...which lead me back to my favourite place! Yay and with tails wagging!The front desk staff is always very sweet and friendly! Even when I bring a random stray that happened to be walking around my apartment complex, they were always willing to help me out with the microchip part. And would be on the lookout for if anyone was looking for their lost pet and know how to contact me if needed.The doctors (oh the wonderful doctors) have always been so kind to my pets! I've never had any problems with any of them.  My favourite is always Dr. Finch (he always reminds me of Matthew McConaughey) for he understands our love for our 4 legged animals!  I love that he isn't out to make a sale and then scoot us to pay the bill.  He takes the time to get to know them (and heck all of our pets have LOVED LOVED LOVED him)!  If you don't want to feel like you're just another paycheck for an animal place then this is the place!  They are always there for your pets and are concerned about them.  They make house calls to make sure everything is on the up and up.  This is the best place to go! Took my adopted dog to a different vet and spent hundreds of dollars to find out why he had severe diarrhea & vomiting to no avail. Finally found Dr Finch and after first visit my dog has not had any more issues with diarrhea or vomiting. We found out he has major allergies Dr Finch suggested changing his food. They sell it in the office and is much cheaper than I can get it at PetCo. I can't say enough good things about this vet and his staff. My sister has been going to Baseline Vet for over 10 years. When we arrived to Chandler, we decided to take our cats here, even though it is a bit of a drive to get here. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Finch helped our cat, Cole (who was 18 when they met) enjoy his last two years even though he had thyroid cancer. My cat lived to be 20 and I believe that was helped by the great care at Baseline. Staff is great and they always seem willing to work with you to get you in. Read Less

For many years I traveled from Tempe (Rural & Southern area) out to Mesa Vet on Country Club - a really great operation that took us through over 20 years of cats and dogs. However, I'm now 77 and making the trip over there became increasingly difficult. I decided to switch to Baseline Animal Clinic because it's about a mile from my home. I was so pleased with Dr. Finch and also a Dr. Kim Crowe. Had to put two aging and ill pets down and Dr. Finch and the staff were wonderful. Today - April 21st, 2015 I head out to BAC with two pups from Halo rescue to get their first check-up as my pets. I feel very comfortable knowing they'll be well cared for.Read Less

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My little guy had a stroke and the front staff was not urgent at all to have him seen. It took over 45 minute for him to been seen and then the vet merely said he could do nothing please take him to a neurologist. I called today to thank the dr that he made a recovery somewhat and the girl who answered was beyond rude. I have no idea who they think they are. These are our children and best friends. Seriously I would not take a bug here if they were dying. Oh and by the way, my little guy is back to normal and I hope to never see you again! And I have to add, nice touch sending me a sympathy card for my dead dog. FYI he is alive and running around. I am so grateful that I was referred to BAC, I cannot even begin to tell you the predicament I was in. Here's the short version; My pug Chewbacca was in massive pain, he has had 3 urinary blockages in the span of 3 years, 2 times which almost ended his life and this being the 3rd. After having his blockage cleared at my current vet I noticed Chewy was still in pain and hardly able to urinate the following day which my vet at the time stated was normal due to the catheter and the sand in his belly. My pug has insane pain tolerance, more than any pet or human I have encountered but he was crying every time he sat down. This was not normal, I had just paid over $1000 2 days prior but knew I had to get another vet. I was referred to BAC and they saved my pugs life. My pug was diagnosed incorrectly for 3 years! They figured out the real problem and came up with a solution for him. Not only did Dr. Finch do an amazing job diagnosing him correctly but hr and his associates went out of their way to make sure my pug got the follow up care he needed. Since I have been coming here I know I have entrusted my best friend with the best possible care he could have. Thank you Baseline Animal clinic for everything! Recently brought my puppy in for a simple nail clipping. The pet stores and groomers refuse to clip his nails as he's already 85 lbs and even close to a year old. The last time I took him to another groomer, my puppy refused to go in. But he was happy the entire time at Baseline Animal Clinic, even after he had his nails clipped. I have a FIV+ Orange Tabby that my boyfriend and I adopted off the street. Buddy. He got really matted once we brought him inside and he needed a shave. We decided to have the groom done at the vet. They were great about following up about the raw spots/skin issues that he had, and asked about how he was feeling. (By the way those scabby spots are almost %100 healed-thanks!) He has been there for check ups and vaccinations as well. We will be back later this month to have Buddy neutered. Read Less

I've been taking my animals here for about 10 years. I won't go anywhere else. They are great and when I had a dog with hip issues, they tried everything to avoid having to have him put down. I've had to take my cat Ben in a few times for several different reasons and they have always been extremely wonderful. To the max. Once, I woke up and discovered that my cat had somehow (in a room with a sleeping me and no other animals) managed to get his tooth caught on something and half ripped out of his gums/jaw. It looked so painful and red and angry and he just hopped up on the bed to wake me up like nothing was wrong. I called the Clinic and got him an appointment for the same day, a few hours later. I coddled him to the point of annoyance in the mean time. Once we arrived, we were seen immediately and the vet was able take him into the back, put him under and surgically remove the canine that was jutting from jaw. They stitched the little hole up and woke my buddy up and we were back home with some pain meds within an hour and a half. Just the other day, I noticed that Ben was not acting like himself. Too lethargic, even for a fat and lazy cat, so I took him in. After some tests and an x-ray, we discovered that he was super backed up and required an enema. Not Ben's most shining moment, but now he's happy, shaved, evacuated and basking in the sunlight like the happy cat I know. As long as I live in Arizona, I'll come here. I find the pricing to be extremely reasonable and all that jazz as well. Every member of staff, techs, and vets I've met have been super duper nice and knowledgeable.Read Less

I have been coming to this vet since I moved to Arizona from Kentucky.  They have always been so friendly and welcoming.  Let's just be serious, when it has to do with anything about your furry family (especially health) we are very cautious. It's convenient and has plenty of parking out in Tempe.  I moved to Scottsdale and still drive a few minutes out to make sure I still come here.  The doctors and tech's are always really friendly and sweet with the animals, as to be expected. :)  Overall, this place is very clean and well kept - I love it here and so do my pets! :) Read Less

I have a five month pup. I first took her In because it was the nearest vet available and my baby needed her shots. As far as I see it. Each time you bring your dog it's an automatic check up. Which is a payment of $45 I'm not too sure how dog check ups go. But all the did was way her, check her ears and then put took her temperature from her bum. Which I could've done myself and reported it to them. Then on top of that her Doc keeps on trying to persuade me to get her spayed like it's something that's mandatory and feels like it's being thrown upon me. I recommended this place to my friend and I came with her. She needed her pup to get a check up and his nails cut. And they cut his nails where they bled... Not too badly though. Read Less

Today was my first visit with our dog, Calli. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and so were the technicians. The appointment to get her rabies shot was quick, easy and reasonably priced. I'll definitely return for future shots and check ups. First, let me start off by saying that I am one of those people who is mildly obsessed with their animals...ok, completely obsessed. They are my kids and I take their health and well being very seriously. With that being said, I wouldn't trust them with any other vet.I have taken multiple dogs (in fact I'm on my 5th boxer) to Dr. Finch and he has been such a blessing. He is always very compassionate and loving with them and he's extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, he's very honest which was evident when I lost my female boxer a year ago. She was dying of cancer and even though I would have spent all my money and time getting her better, Dr. Finch explained that it would be very difficult for her (and I) to go through and would not be beneficial to her at this stage. This allowed her and I to have the best quality of life and enjoy our last moments together in peace. The staff is also extremely sweet and always very loving with our animals, not to mention that they themselves are all very knowledgeable. They have never pressured me and always give me plenty of options and suggestions on how to deal with any of the issues that arise. We recently moved to north Phoenix and even though the drive is over 30 minutes each way for us, I don't care. I wont go anywhere else! Read Less

We have been taking our dogs to BAC for several years now. The staff, including office, techs and doctors, are all outstanding. Dr. Finch and his associates have always provided excellent care for our dogs. Dr. Finch always has our pets best interest at heart while being cautious as to not over prescribe medications or suggesting procedures that are not absolutely necessary. His diagnosis have always been 100% accurate. We drive about 20 miles (one way) to have our dogs seen at BAC, and will continue to do so with all of our future pets. Update 8/6/15: I wanted to add that we still really love Baseline Animal Clinic. We lost our dog unexpectedly (her stomach flipped, they referred us to the emergency vet and it was just too late so we had to put her down). We were beyond devastated over losing her. A few days after she passed, we came home to find the sweetest sympathy card from Baseline Animal Clinic in the mailbox, handwritten and signed by the staff. It was totally unexpected and a very kind and thoughtful gesture. We're not quite ready for another dog yet, but when we are, we'll definitely continue our care here. :)~~~~I started taking our dog to the Baseline Animal Clinic after it received glowing reviews from a family friend. We've had two two visits so far... one for vaccinations and a teeth cleaning... and the other after our dog injured her eye while playing. I was a little nervous about the initial visit, and warned the receptionist that we had recently adopted our dog, and were still working on her perfecting her manners. She loves everyone she meets... but at 80lbs, her energy and excitement can be a bit overwhelming. Fortunately for us, the entire staff has been absolutely wonderful at both of our visits. Our dog has never been a big fan of going to the vet.... but she LOVES the staff at the Baseline Animal Clinic, and seems to feel much more comfortable with them than she has anywhere else.Their services are very reasonably priced... and while they do offer a few "extras," I didn't find them to be pushy at all. They are also AWESOME about following up. After we had our dog's teeth cleaned (which involved putting her under general anesthesia), they called two or three days in a row to check and see how she was doing. And, after our second visit for the eye injury, the vet called to see how the antibiotics were working.
