Unfortunately my first experience with McClintock Animal Care was rushing my cat here in an emergency. He died on the way there. The medical staff were so accommodating of my emergency, gave me an immediate appointment, and helped me through my sorrow. I wished I had brought my cat here first instead of the Cobblestone Clinic. I did notice more cats at McClintock Animal Care than over at Cobblestone, which mostly had dogs going there. If you have a cat, I would highly recommend McClintock Animal Care. I’ve never had a better vet experience. It’s hard to find a good vet so I was prepared to have a bad experience, but I had the complete opposite. I felt the staff actually cared about my dog’s well being. Greg (my dog with a human name) had a mass on his belly, and he also a little bit overweight (but we won’t tell him that). I went to get the mass checked out, which turned out to benign. Lauren was the first warm welcome- she was so kind and made paperwork simple. Caroline, in addition to being hilarious, went above and beyond for my dogs new dietary needs and educating me on the importance of it. Dr. Nelson answered all my questions without judgment about diets, walks and overall health. The whole staff made my crazy, chunky dog feel loved, and I really appreciate that. Thanks staff was super friendly and welcoming but I won't be returning. We are new to the state so I brought my dog to get established and a prescription for his anxiety (something he has had for a long time) I was told about $45 for the visit. They brought me a bill for over $440 expecting me to pay for it without even offering and explaining everything. I declined everything but it really made me feel like they only care about the money. The Dr was even talking to me about other things that weren't even an issue as if trying to find more to charge me for. McClintock Animal Care Center is hands down (in my opinion) the best veterinary care facility in the Tempe/Chandler area. I have brought my pets to them since 2006. The staff is friendly and professional. They always follow-up after an appointment, or return calls if I have questions about my pet's health. They treat my pets like family. They are caring and compassionate. I found this especially true when one of my pet's was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  They advised me of medical options and compassionate care plans. At the end of my pet's life, they helped me say good-bye in a respectful and dignified manner. I recently added new fur babies to my home, and the staff at McClintock Animal Care Center are helping them get a good start in life. Personally, I do not shop around and compare costs. They provide excellent service(s). Their charges are not the least expensive around, but they do not charge excessively or for frivolous reasons.  I trust and respect their decisions. Love love love this vet office. They treat you with respect and caring. They know your pet when you walk in and know how to talk and treat pet parents. I have had terrible times with my previous vet (banfield) and refuse to be treated like crap again. This place has changed my perspective on vets and how they just want your money and take advantage of you because pet bills are usually high due to noninsurance of pets. BUT this place is nothing like other vets, they treat you and your pet like we are family and are the only ones there and don't try and sell you on things your pet doesn't need just to make money. The staff here love animals and it shows in their care. They're sensitive to our fearful dog and give lots of pets to our other dog who loves to go to the vet! We have had numerous unplanned issues that have required additional visits to see the veterinarians. With multiple doctors, they are able to work is in when needed. They have a good complement of supportive equipment the so most of the time they can handle what we need right there. If not, they'll arrange a referral for us for needed specialty Care. Best vet clinic in Tempe. The staff here is great. The exams are thorough and the vets are very knowledgeable. We've been going here for 7 years and recommend it any chance we get. Dr Claus has been treating both our dogs recently which includes a surgery on one with cancer. Their exam rates are on par with others in the area. We've been to other vets with lowers prices, but we came back to McClintock because of the overall completeness of care we get here. Read Less

My boyfriend and I brought our dog we had just adopted here to be examined because she was coughing and sneezing. We were scheduled with Dr. Reale, formerly Barber (who we are very sad is no longer at this location). We were dealing with possible distemper. The doctor and all the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We probably called them close to a hundred times while our dog was sick to ask for advice and they were always eager to help. This is a great place to care for furry-family members! We ended up here two years ago after our previous vet office relocated a bit further away than we wanted to travel for care of our two dogs. We had tried a couple of other places unsuccessfully but didn't stick with any of them. (One seemed more interested in pressuring to add on procedures/labs, another had front staff that who were not very friendly and one didn't have an assistant so had me help hold my dog during an exam/vaccinations which I didn't like.) It was a relief to finally find McClintock Animal Care Center! It is a bright, friendly, clean place with a large lobby. This large lobby is helpful with having a dog who isn't the friendliest to other dogs, although we usually don't spend much time in the lobby since they usually get us right back and also do payment/check out in the exam room. The exam rooms are nice and large which is helpful when we bring both dogs together. All the staff we have met over the past two years have been super warm and friendly. They greet your pets by name and write a welcome to them on a chalkboard in the room, which is just a nice, extra-friendly thing to do. I definitely appreciate that they have evening hours and partial Saturday hours! The vets take time to go over things in detail but I have never felt pressured to do more than I wanted with care. If we were independently wealthy we would just pay for everything and anything for our dogs, but we aren't. We still have to balance the finances of furry-family members medical care with having kids who need braces and who may want to go to college someday, so we very much appreciate having someone go over the recommendations and the breakdown of costs so I can decide what to do and if there is something to delay/decline. I have never been made to feel bad for declining a full lab panel or stopping a vaccination (Bortadella) etc. We feel grateful to have a place now that we like and trust so much! Read Less

McClintock Animal Care Center is the only clinic we visit. I have been a client for 10 years now. And as pets do, mine got sick and had to be put down. I was crushed so much so that the staff offered to drive me home. We moved since then and have 2 new dogs we still go to M.A.C. WE HAVE NEVER had a bad experience in anyway. Thank you for you're genuine care that you give to people and their pets. No matter where we live ,we would keep them as our VETERINARIAN .WE NEVER HAVE TO WAIT TO BE SEEN they take us back within 5 mins. Very organized which makes the appointment go so smoothly. Super sweet staff and close to the house which is why I give 3 stars... But definitely high on pricing and they give hard sells on the treatment plans (makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable). I paid $44 to have a Dr. do a follow up look at my dog's ear... We weren't even taken back to a room. I was told to wait in the reception area and my dog was taken in the back somewhere to be looked at. The vet tech was the one to speak with me; I didn't even get to see the doctor. How do I even know the Dr. checked my dog? It took maybe 5-10 min and all they did was look at my dog's ear with a scope... $44. Then they tried showing me a treatment plan for like $360 worth of routine stuff although I have already informed them before that I go elsewhere for my dog's yearly shots/bloodwork etc. I don't like having to explain at the end of every visit why I don't need certain work done with them when they present a treatment plan I don't even ask for. Definitely get the "for profit" feel at this place. Won't be returning. Read Less

I've been to many vets since my dog has many health issues, but I find it hard to find a staff without big egos or attitudes. I've never met a more caring and loving staff! I've been to my share of animal clinics since my dogs have many health issues. I have very strong feelings regarding not only human health issues, but also our pets well being so I get a lot of attitude from vets that think they know all. I'm pretty sure most vets don't spend much of their spare time educating themselves about different treatments...they just rely on what they learned in school. I didn't get that feeling here. We talked about my dog's health issues and the options for her care. I feel Dr. Claus would have been open to anything I had to say even though non traditional treatments didn't come up. I have exotic pets (rabbits) and had a great vet in Flagstaff so when I moved down here I was concerned about finding a rabbit savy vet. I looked on line and found this place. One of my rabbits recently died and I wanted my other one checked out just to be safe. They were great.! They were friendly to me and very gentle with her. They take good care of my dog and they do a great job of following up on her to make sure she's okay.  Their employees are sweet and caring to the animals.  The only drawback to this place is price.  For a teeth cleaning with one extraction of a broken tooth it cost about $1200.  I feel like this is on the high side in terms of price.  I will continue to bring my dog here though because I trust the way they treat my pet when I'm not around.Another sort of negative is that they recommended Greenies to clean my dog's teeth and if you google Greenies there's a lot of bad news out there and some cases of dogs even dying... not sure I'd go with Greenies. This is the first vet I have come to since I moved to Tempe. My cat was diagnosed with feline diabetes which absolutely terrified me/my college budget. Without the help of this clinic I would be completely lost. Although all the people here are helpful and compassionate, I am particularly thankful for the hard work and understanding of Dr. Claus, Alison, and Holly. Absolutely LOVE this vet, they have been so helpful from my dog's chronic allergies to his accidental swallowing surgery. They always call back and check up on him from all his mishaps or illnesses. It makes me feel really comforted by the staff. I love that they understand the costs of everything from medications, x-rays, and testing. They always give me multiple treatment options to choose from price wise. Its def. a pressure free zone when it comes to the choosing of treatment, they never make you feel like "your making the wrong choice by choosing option A, B, or C". I have been bringing my cat Tofu here for 3+ years. We've interacted with 3 of the 4 vets and many of the staff. They are all pleasant, caring, knowledgeable and helpful. I've been lucky that I've only had to bring my cat here for normal check-ups (and his neutering), but I know he would be in good hands if I had to bring him in for a problem. I appreciate that they have separate entrances for cats and dogs, because I bring my cat in on a leash. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that if I knew there would be a chance encounter with a dog. They are the best most loving and caring bunch of staff I have ever met in my entire life and I am not spring chicken. If they also took care of humans they would be my first choice. But they treat your furry children like they matter and are as important as we humans. They are loving and gentle with each pet. We have 5 little furry children of our own and wouldn't even think of taking them anywhere else. They go out of their way for the health sake of your beloved animal and do everything within their power to give your babies the quality of life they deserve. If I had to rate them from 1 to 10 I would give them a 20 that is how much I believe in and trust them. The Vets and their staffs are the best their is. We had a chance to move but I refused to leave them and we are still here in AZ because of it, though I am no desert dweller. I cant rave anymore then I have. I love this place. I have been taking my cat there for around three years now and have always been extremely happy with their care. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make both patient and care giver feel comfortable. I recently moved and the trip there can be an hour long, but after a few failed attempts to find a vet near me that gave the same amount of care, I make the trip and refuse to take my babies anywhere else. When my older cat needed surgery they sent me text and pictures almost every hour to show me she was doing well and then continued to check up on her after we went home. They also did everything they could to help keep the costs down for me. I now tell all of my friends that need veterinarian services that this is the place to go.Read Less
