Took excellent care of my dog when she was horribly ill and needed emergent surgery. The staff bonded with her and were genuinely concerned about her well being. They have a bird that will greet you when you come in, very cool! They also groom your animals, which is great for those that have difficulty getting along with strangers. Tempe Veterinary Hospital hooked it up for my two boys, Koa and Ziggy. Different doctors for both dogs and both were equally caring towards my boys. The groomers also did a fantastic job at a great price for an 80lb dog. Strongly recommend taking pets here. Read Less

This is by far the best vet I have ever been to. My daughter class pet, Caramel the Guinea Pig, need his nails cut so bad. The nails were curling under and they looked awful. I took the guinea pig to the vet for the teachers because they don't have time to get there. On top of everything one of the teachers son is going into surgery and she is having a hard time dealing with all the chaos. Normally a vet would charge you quite a bit just to clip his little nails, but they didn't charge us anything! The vet was so nice! He gave my daughter a little "squirt gun" (syringe) she absolutely loves it! The staff at the front desk was so nice and helpful as well! I wish I could give more than 5 stars on this review! This is where I took my newly rescued fur baby after realizing the shelter lied about her health and well being. They got us in quickly, addressed the issues, and got us on our way again. All while being so efficient they even discussed various costs of suggested treatments and possible alternatives. I left feeling much relief for myself, my new fur baby, and my wallet. Read Less

i couldn't even begin to say how downhill this vet office, staff and "service" has been. Do yourself a favor and don't bother. Such lost service for so long not even mad or surprised just disappointed in the "care" they don't even offer. This vet isn't supportive of alternative/natural care. More than being ignorant of the topic, he was hostile and antagonizing. He referred to practitioners who are as "idiots" (twice), and was clearly trying to insult me (as an idiot, by implication). Even the respected Dr. Ron Schultz who studies immunology and believes the profession overvaccinates (as an easy profit)? Called an "idiot" too. The vet was literally trembling with anger. I also got the impression this vet engages in overvaccination. They wanted to treat my 2 year-old dog like a puppy (with maternal antibodies) and give it monthly boosters. (Which explained his aversion to the topics of natural/alternative care). I have never met a vet who wasn't at least familiar with these topics, and supportive of clients who have educated themselves and wish to manage risks differently. It was amazing to see this vet so completely rejecting of the topic, to the point of wishing to antagonize and humiliate me. Read Less

I have been going to Tempe Vet about 30 yrs., I trust Dr. Wells completely. He has always been there with the best treatments. Sometimes the wait times are longer than expected but I'm there for my dogs and don't mind it because they are my family. I have brought my dogs here since 1999 and never had a problem until today. I made reservations back in March to board my dog during Thanksgiving week. When I made the reservation, Dr. Wells agreed and instructed his staff to stay past business hours today, so that I could pick upon my dog as soon as my flight arrived. In the past month, I have confirmed six different times with the front office staff that someone would be here until I arrived to pick up my dog. I even called the office this morning, from DC, to confirm that someone would be waiting for me. Once my flight landed in Phoenix, I received a voicemail that the "Dr. decided he wasn't going to wait for me" and I would have to wait until Monday to pick up my dog. I've made several phone calls and no one has returned my messages. I've also been waiting in the parking lot for three hours because, I was also told, someone would be by tonight to check on the dogs. No one has come by and the lack of professionalism shocking. I will not be bringing my dog back here again. You had a verbal and written agreement with me that you violated without allowing me the opportunity to send someone to pick up my dog.Read Less

We originally came here about 2 years ago when I relocated from Texas. My boxer, 5 years old at the time, was due for annual vaccines. About a year ago, we adopted a puppy that was dumped in their office. Since then, both our dogs have gone in for dental care, annual exams, boarding, surgery, emergency visits, and grooming, and the staff has always taken good care of us! My dog has been going to them since he was born and he's 121/2 now. In the past year he's had a few health problems. I got my dog in college and lived in Tempe... now I'm in downtown Phoenix and there's a ton of vets within a mile of my house... but I wouldn't even think of taking him anywhere else. I like to sew and as a puppy my dog mistook my pin-cushion for a toy and before I could stop him he had bitten off and somehow managed to swallow a hunk. It was a Saturday and the office was about the close but Dr. Wells didn't think twice about rushing us in. He and the staff did everything possible to help me out with the expensive procedures needed... even asked a specialist that was already coming to see another animal if he minded taking a look at my dog's situation. With his help they were able to perform an endoscopy instead of having to do a more invasive stomach surgery and my dog had a quick recovery! The next week I received a get well soon card in the mail from the vet. They far exceeded my expectations during an emergency.... and have continued to ever since. I had taken my older dog in to be groomed for the last 2 years and I am always very happy with the concern about her. The last time Dr. Wells fit me in when I picked her up for grooming to have a look at a tooth that was bothering her. Everyone at this business is friendly and nice, Dr. Wells was great and I really appreciate that they did not just say make an appointment and come back. I really like the vet and the staff, they are all helpful and nice - but every time I come here I wait for at least 30 minutes past my appointment time. sometimes up to an hour. I know they deal with emergencies or weird things can come up, but it's kind of unacceptable. my time is important too. if I didn't like the vet and staff so much and it wasn't so close to my house I would have stopped coming a while ago...
