Ajo Veterinary Clinic was not born of well laid plans and a carefully thought out future.
I had come to Tucson after graduation for two reasons; I loved the town and was offered a job here. After two years I bough the part time practice I had been hired to run in Green Valley, then just a wide spot in the road. It was only open two afternoons a week so I did house calls and relief work to make ends meet.
I realized that the south west side of Tucson was under served. I saw a fair sized building
For rent on Ajo way and rented it. Remodeled it with the help of a couple of friends and a small loan and opened the doors in April of 1973.
We have grown and changed, and are now a fully accredited AAHA hospital. With a well-trained staff of 14, including 3 certified technicians and four doctors. We provide in-house laboratory services, surgery, radiology, dentistry, pain management, and computerized paperless medical records, to a wonderful and varied clientele. Our focus is on excellence in medicine and great service.

Waited an hour to get in, wanted 800 + dollars for xray, blood test and quick exam. I had to leave, i couldn't afford this. The vet wouldn't work with me on the price. They still charged me 80 dollars to check his temp and look in his mouth. I packed my cat and left. My main complaint is they charged as much as a person without insurance, going to a dr. So once again, only the rich gets to take care of their pets.

All staff and Dr Porter are awesome! They took such great care of my tiny ten year old Tinkerbell Pom-chi. I was fearful of her being anesthetized for surgery. After extensive lab work and physical Dr Porter said she is as healthy as a 5 year old. Tinkerbell tolerated the procedure very well. I was very impressed with their level of caring. Even going so far as supplying 4 days of preloaded oral syringes for pain control. Now my Tink's behavior is as it was when she was 5 years old!

They have worked with me when circumstances weren't the best in my life and have always come through when an emergency came about. I took my pet to this clinic to get vaccinated for doggie day camp, my vet was booked at the time. The staff was very helpful. The tech, omg was awesome, very knowledgeable and asked about my pets habits and advised me on services to ensure that my fur baby remains healthy and happy.
The vet was very knowledgeable as well and treated my fur baby like her own. I love this clinic and would recommend to friends and family! I am seriously thinking of switching!

Last week I called Ajo veterinary clinic to get medical help for my elder dog. The staff got my pet in within two hours to get the much needed medication. The doctor then called within a few days to check how my dog was doing. I found this to be more than professional but it felt almost like family there.

I have been taking my pets to this clinic since the early 70's. Every staff member has been professional, courteous, knowledgeable and compassionate. They are more than willing to refer to others if they lack certain specific equipment to care for my pets. They care more about my pets than they do about their bottom line. So refreshing!!!

Ajo vets are very caring and gentle with my pets during visits. They spend time putting my dogs at ease and winning their trust prior to the exam and shots, etc. They spend a lot of time discussing issues, answering questions, giving suggestions and educating. They don't rush and the prices are reasonable. I love the vets and techs here. I've recommended this place to friends.

We take our pure bred Jack Russell, Loki, to Ajo Veterinary Clinic. She is precious to us, and we would not take her to any clinic that wasn't worthy! These people are knowledgeable, concerned and caring for all the animals that they see. They do not try to sell you stuff you don't need, and they just take great care of your pets! They also have very competitive pricing, and they don't try to gouge you! As long as they are in business, we won't go anywhere else! Sara is one of the techs there, and she is our favorite, but they are all great people! I highly recommend them for your pets too!

My dog and i did not like this place, a bunch of yahoos who think they just know it all! Rookie Vets with no confidence is how all of them were behaving. trying to get me to agree on allowing them to give him an anesthesia-HellNo! They are very quick to judge , wouldnt listen to me or my dogs body language! Glad i went with my first instinct and got my dog out of there before they were able to cause more damage! If only i couldve recorded them all ! I cussed them all and my dog and i stormed out of there. (although the ladies at the front desk were nice)

My buff tabby cat Dusty had an abscess over his eye that other vets couldn't figure out. or cure Dr. Porter suspected even before the lab report came back that he had Valley Fever, and sure enough she was right. He has been on oral fluconazole ever since, and his titers have been good. Ha, he is like a brand new cat !!! Dr. Porter is the best.

All staff and Dr Porter are awesome! They took such great care of my tiny ten year old Tinkerbell Pom-chi. I was fearful of her being anesthetized for surgery. After extensive lab work and physical Dr Porter said she is as healthy as a 5 year old. Tinkerbell tolerated the procedure very well. I was very impressed with their level of caring. I took my pet to this clinic to get vaccinated for doggie day camp, my vet was booked at the time. The staff was very helpful. The tech, omg was awesome, very knowledgeable and asked about my pets habits and advised me on services to ensure that my fur baby remains healthy and happy.
The vet was very knowledgeable as well and treated my fur baby like her own. I love this clinic and would recommend to friends and family! I am seriously thinking of switching!

We take our pure bred Jack Russell, Loki, to Ajo Veterinary Clinic. She is precious to us, and we would not take her to any clinic that wasn't worthy! These people are knowledgeable, concerned and caring for all the animals that they see. They do not try to sell you stuff you don't need, and they just take great care of your pets! They also have very competitive pricing, and they don't try to gouge you! As long as they are in business, we won't go anywhere else! Sara is one of the techs there, and she is our favorite, but they are all great people! I highly recommend them for your pets too!

My dog and i did not like this place, a bunch of yahoos who think they just know it all! Rookie Vets with no confidence is how all of them were behaving. trying to get me to agree on allowing them to give him an anesthesia-HellNo! They are very quick to judge , wouldnt listen to me or my dogs body language! Glad i went with my first instinct and got my dog out of there before they were able to cause more damage! If only i couldve recorded them all ! I cussed them all and my dog and i stormed out of there. (although the ladies at the front desk were nice)

Dr. Porter is wonderful. My buff tabby cat Dusty had an abscess over his eye that other vets couldn't figure out. or cure Dr. Porter suspected even before the lab report came back that he had Valley Fever, and sure enough she was right. He has been on oral fluconazole ever since, and his titers have been good. Ha, he is like a brand new cat !!! Dr. Porter is the best.

The staff of vets as well as the techs and office personnel are all friendly. Each and every vet is caring and more concerned for the animal than for the almighty dollar that I've seen of a few vets in Tucson. They never made us feel rushed or put us down for what we failed to see. The support given by each and every person there makes everyone I've talked to that goes there special and secure that our pets are in the best care possible..
