There is no veterinarian that I would rather have look at my miniature schnauzer than Dr. Edwards. Her dog knowledge is extensive, she treats pets as though they are family, and if you listen to her, you will no doubt leave the clinic a better pet owner than when you entered. It is clear from the moment you meet her that it is her passion for animals that drives her -- a fact further proven by the ludicrously fair prices she charges for her services -- and I dare say that her care is unparalleled in the southwest.A year ago, my mini schnauzer broke his right hind leg after tripping down the short flight of stairs that led to my home. I immediately called the office, praying that they'd be able to see him, despite the fact that their office was closing in an hour, I lived over 30 minutes away, and they were overbooked as usual (people allegedly come from out of state to see her). At first the office was apologetic for (understandably) not being able to see my dog immediately, but the moment I said his name, they instantly knew who he was and went through painstaking troubles to admit him that night and fit him into the surgery schedule the next day. After 3 nights (two for recovery under their watch), Saxon was returned to me, and after 2 months he was running almost as well as he was before the awful accident. Now, over a year later, he's running, jumping, and even learning to dance on his hindlegs. He's literally doing things that I thought would have been impossible after the break. I won't claim that Dr. Edwards can work miracles, but I do know that she'll do her damnedest to try.The most mind-boggling thing about the experience was the price she charged. The procedure she did literally would have cost 5 times as much at an emergency clinic. The price I paid (which included weekly checkups for the following two months) must have only barely covered the cost of everything -- a truly remarkable testament to her love of animals.Oh, and her primary care is great, too! From the very first moment Saxon met her (many visits before the fateful accident), he loved her, and it was obvious that she adored him. It's very telling when the office forgets my name but can immediately identify my pet. She gives great advice for general care and knows a lot about training and caring for dogs. As a result, she has very little tolerance for ill-behaved dogs and irresponsible dog owners. If your pet is over a year old and doesn't know how to sit or stay (or worse, he or she is aggressive/violent towards strangers), and you have no clue what type of food you're feeding your dog, then she'll probably let you have a piece of her mind, and I have definitely heard from the staff that she can be quite abrasive on a bad day. That said, she's been nothing but warm and inviting towards Saxon and me. What starts as a standard check-up or simple immunization often turns into a more personal discussion between animal lovers. She isn't required to give the amount of attention that she does, but I certainly won't complain. I love that she asks me questions about how I care for Saxon, and I love that she gives me advice, because it shows that her care extends beyond the clinical setting. She wants to make sure that every pet she sees has a happy, healthy home.If you're looking for a vet who'll get you in and out as quickly as possible with no questions asked, then look elsewhere. If you want a vet who loves your pet like he or she was one of her own, then you can do no better in Tucson than Dr. Edwards. Read Less
