Me and my teen daughter just took our 12 year old dog that has been part over our family since she was 1 month old. Not sure what Dr. We saw as there was no introduction. She asked if "the dog" was spayed, I responded no. Started to explain why we were there she has lumps on her tummy. Down hill from there. We were told right then oh well she has breast cancer. Sorry but if she was never spayed that's what happens, she has cancer. At this point the Dr. had not even touched our dog. She finally put her hands around the belly saying some were just normal something or either? But the other is cancer, took her temp. Which I was not given. And then rambled off what was needed. Never looking or examing anything else. As the Dr. Was going out the door (after maybe 5 minutes in the room) my daughter asked if her age is a concern for this surgery. Dr. stepped back in and said you won't like this but she will die if we don't do it and she could die if we do. I am in shock and so disappointed. I really hope this is not how she tells people one of their four legged family members has cancer on a regular basis. I just gave this office a $50 exam fee which literally covered weighting her (wasn't in my take home papers) so I don't know her weight. Dr. walks in tells us she has breast cancer, was belittled for not spaying her and that is why she has cancer. Temp was taken, was not provided that info and then last but not least it covered the Dr. telling my teen one option she dies the other option she might die. Yes the rates are more affordable but you get what you pay for I guess. Read Less

Dr. Mueller is professional, direct, experienced, and affordable. My kitty gets very upset travelling in the car and meeting new people, so he can be very loud and grouchy by the time he meets the doctor. Another vet in town actually wanted me to anesthetize him, just for a typical rabies shot, because they felt unsafe. Not the case with Dr. Mueller! She knows exactly how to handle him - using techniques that are both safe for her and least traumatic for him. We have been in multiple times now, both for regular shots and check-ups, and for a case of ringworm that she diagnosed quickly and treated effectively. The ladies at the front desk are also very friendly and helpful. I enthusiastically recommend BAH to all my family and friends, and I appreciate them more after every visit. They really care about my pets. Since discovering them, I don't go anywhere else for veterinary services! UPDATE 12/21/2017: Since my previous review a couple of years ago, I have moved cities and had to see a couple of other vets. I now have another adult cat and a kitten added to my family, and I will be driving the extra distance to bring all three cats to BAH/Dr. Mueller. I actually started using Broadway Animal Hospital around 1970, long before Dr. Mueller came. She never showed much compassion or took much time for diagnosis, was always brusque, and often irritated with a reluctant dog, but she seemed to give adequate care. Perhaps I tolerated it because I have a retired vet friend who helped me manage conditions she didn't seem to be able to.The turning point came when I took my aged basset hound in for brief, but frequent episodes of panting and disorientation. I got about half a sentence out of my mouth when Dr. Mueller broke in and said, "How much money have you got?" The message was clear: your animal is not worth my time and effort, so if you want help, go somewhere else.I did. My new vet gets right down on the floor with the dogs, shows unlimited patience, and explains everything thoroughly. I don't know what took me so long to change. I'll never go back. Read Less

The front office is very friendly, caring and compassionate. I had been taking my dogs there for about a year. Dr. Mueller is no nonsense vet and she doesn't beat around the best nor does she order test that believe are unnecessary. However, she doesn't really exam your pet she just gives them a once or over or prescribes them meds based on symptoms of the pet parent.  She will not answer any questions you have she basically has one foot out the door of the exam room. I ran into problems with the vet when I brought in my senior pitbull who was experience some mobility issues. The medication she prescribed stop working I called left a message with the vet heard nothing back called back again the following business day waited on hold only to be told "she didn't want to speak with me" had my blood boiling. So I took my dog for a second opinion. The new vet did more 5 minutes for my dog then Dr. Mueller did and she misdiagnosed him as well. My fur baby is slowly improving with new meds and new treatment plan with his new vet. My other 2 babies will no longer be their patient Read Less

I've never brought my personal dogs here, only my foster dogs over the past 10 years. I've most had to deal with Dr. Mueller who is the kind of doctor you either really love or despise. Sadly I am the ladder. I'll never forget when I brought my second foster dog ever to her and she listened to his heart. Without pause or feeling she said he had a bad heart murmur and would need to be put down. He was only 9 months old. I cried for days. Thankfully he went on to be adopted and last I heard at 6 years old was still going strong. I'm the kind of dog owner who doesn't want the hard truth without softness. I like a softer approach. With that said, Gabe is taking over a lot more responsibilities and this review is for him. He was quiet with my foster, gentle, and discussed multiple avenues. I didn't feel like an annoyance. I enjoyed meeting him and I trust his opinion with my foster. The one thing that hasn't changed is the staff. They've always been friendly, helpful and welcoming. It's not easy dealing with fretful dog owners like me all day long. These are our kids after all. Read Less

We went to Broadway and not only was her spay inexpensive we were able to afford getting her teeth cleaned too which was in serious need. Teeth cleaning was so affordably priced, our family from Phoenix is considering bringing there dog down here for teeth cleaning. In Phoenix they get charged about $700 YIKES! Can't say enough good things about Dr Mueller and her crew. We have taken dozens of cats, dogs, and small mammals to her over the course of the past 20+ years and even through the occasional tricky diagnosis, she has never once been wrong. She has always steered us well and done so with the strength of compassion and experience. She works well into the evening and always personally calls to check up a day or so after any significant procedure. She is honest and no-nonsense. If it's busy she may seem a little rushed, but she always answers questions if you make a point to voice them. I've learned over time that usually when she is short it's because she knows she's right and isn't interested in a long conversation about it. I've even gotten second opinions once or twice just to be sure, and got told the exact same thing in more words and for more money. When things got a little scary one time, and she was treading into less certain waters, her demeanor changed and I felt like we were in the best hands we could be in. She is willing to take the time to talk things through if it's a complicated case, and if she doesn't know, she's not afraid to say so and refer you to the appropriate specialist. She may not always treat the humans exactly the way they think she should, but I have never seen her be anything but calm, confident, and gentle with the animals. She truly cares about them, which is evidenced by the prices she charges for dental cleanings-- so important for long term health and usually so prohibitively expensive that people don't get them done. Dr Mueller would prefer to lose a little money if it means seeing your pet healthy and happy for as long as possible. What more can you ask?Read Less

Dr. Mueller always works us in when one of the dogs has a concern. The staff is friendly and caring and the doctor won't order several tests if they're not necessary. Example: I took my dog to another vet for a skin condition. They wanted to run several expensive tests. The vet told me the skin irritation was not ringworm, but then in the estimate, included a charge to run a ringworm test. This office is great and trustworthy!! I recommend using them. Also, they send out vaccination reminder cards, which is very helpful and Dr. Mueller calls to follow up a day or so after the visit. I've not found this elsewhere. Read Less

Brought one of our dogs here on a recommendation from one of my wife's friends.  He had evidently got into something that wrecked his insides...to say the very least!  We called and were able to get him in the same day which was great.  The front desk staff was very friendly and caring, which is good in times like these!  We met the doctor, and although very personable and friendly, I felt rushed.  There were no other guests at the time in the hospital, yet I had to pretty much stop her to get my questions answered.  Regardless, we finished up, got an exam, some shots, some meds, and directions.  She even called that night to check up on him.  I was pleasantly surprised by the cost as well...total for all the meds, office visit, and exam was only about $130.  Add that to the $270 for carpet cleaning (went ahead and had the whole house done) and it was an eventful week.  We'll definitely be bringing our dogs back here for urgent care! We just had our dog's teeth cleaned at Broadway Animal Hospital. The staff was friendly and courteous. They obviously love animals, as the employees bring their pets to work. It is a very casual, and comfortable, atmosphere. I believe our dog was given excellent care. The price was very reasonable, and there were no surprises. The vet counseled us after the procedure, and we were happy with the meeting. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the condition of the premises. The clinic has been there for years, and it shows. A little paint would go a long way in making it appear a little more professional. That being said, the clinic has a steady stream of regular "patients", and the old-timers seem very happy to be there. We have no complaints about the quality of the service or they way we, and our dog, were treated. This is probably the best clinic in Tucson to have your pet's teeth taken care of. I recommend them. Seems everywhere I go with an intact dog I am told the dog may have a uterine infection.  This is what happened several years ago when my female was sick.  Dr Mueller wanted to do a hysterectomy, said it could be pyometria.  She was an older female and so I agreed.  When I called in the late afternoon to see how she was doing the office staff said the dog was having trouble waking up from the anesthesia and trouble breathing.  They suggested the dog stay there overnight.  I was not informed that NO one would be in the building!!!   Why would they want to keep a dog in trouble when they would not be there to help??  They should have told me that no one would be there and they should have recommended that I take the dog home because at least I would be able to watch the dog myself at home.  Oh, yes, later I discovered there is a small sign posted among the hundreds of other signs, ads, advertisements, etc stating that no one is on the premises at night.  But I did not see that when I was talking to the office on the phone.  When I called the next morning to find out when I could pick up my dog I was informed that she had died during the night.I hold Dr Mueller directly responsible for the death of a litter of puppies 6 months ago.  I took my female in to get x-rays 5 days before the due date.  She said the 3 puppies heads were so large she did not feel that the female would be able to deliver them normally.  I asked her to PLEASE schedule a C-section to ensure these puppies were healthy.  Dr Mueller claimed she would not schedule a C-section until the female was in labor.  A stupid answer!  Any vet knows that most females go into labor in the middle of the night (when her office is closed) and once in labor should start delivering the puppies soon after.  So, "scheduling" a C-section after labor starts is not really an option.  The mother was imported from Germany at a cost of around $5000.  I had to save for 2 years to be able to afford to buy her!   I specially imported the male from Germany to breed to her at a cost of around $4000.  Again, 2 years of saving.  These puppies were VERY special!!   And very valuable to sell - if I didn't keep them all.  As predicted, the female went into labor around midnight.  The first puppy started out breech.  I could feel the feet moving, so the puppy was alive initially.  But the head got stuck.  By the time I was able to get the huge head out the puppy was dead.  It was a beautiful perfectly formed female.  The puppy a breeder waits a lifetime to get!!!!  Now my female cannot have another litter, so that is $9000 down the drain.    While searching for a new vet, I had continued going to this clinic mostly because of the fairly reasonable prices.  That has apparently changed!!!  The last time I went, 1 month ago, was because my youth male was having diarrhea and vomiting.  He had been seen there before, so I expected the usual established patient fees.  NOT the case!!  Dr Mueller walked in and looked at my dog from across the room, made him do some tricks for a treat, and listened to my history.   For that I was charged $50!!   $15 for the office visit and $35 for an "exam".  There was no temperature taken, no hands on exam, no check the lungs or heart.  I brought in a stool sample for them to check, but she just looked at it and then ignored it.  She did suggest that I increase the dosage of the medication that I had already been giving the dog and suggested a wormer.  I called 2 weeks later because the dog was still sick.  The office staff said they would have her call me.  When I did not get a call back that day I called them the following morning.  The staff said that Dr Mueller had told them to tell me to take the dog to a specialist.  Any specialist I know is going to want to know what tests were done prior to resorting to them.  Since Dr Mueller had done no testing I called the office to see if I could at least bring the dog in to get the stool sample tested and get some basic bloodwork done, to show we had made an effort to diagnose.  The staff wanted to set me up with another appointment, which meant another $50 charge on top of the charges for the labwork.  I tried to explain that I didn't need another appointment because she had already said she didn't want to see him, I just wanted to get labwork done so I could take him to a specialist.  The staff again said they would have her call me.  Again she did not call back.  So, my dog is still sick!!Perhaps I set myself up for disappointment.  I had continued to go to Dr. Mueller for several years because I felt she was a fairly good diagnostician.  I even told her that.  I hoped maybe I had found the classic "country vet/ miracle worker" who knows about lots of conditions and has a "bag of tricks" or remedies that they use.  I thought she could handle ANYTHING.  Guess not.  Perhaps the lists of veterinarians in phone books or internet sites should put qualifiers such as "basic care only" or "we do it all". Dr. Mueller is great. She has been seeing my two dogs now for a few years and we've had nothing but positive experiences. She knows the bottom line for most folks is they want to know how to quickly and effectively treat their pets without going broke if possible. She knows how to balance quality care, compassion, cost, and risk in the perfect way. I trust she would not straight out recommend a costly treatment that has high risk and little chance of improving the quality of a pet's life. My elder pup gets routine care at Broadway Animal Hospital and is pretty sure Dr. Mueller is his best friend. As more complicated decisions about his quality of life come up down the road, I have full faith that Dr. Mueller and her staff will help me make the best decisions for him and will keep him happy, healthy, and comfortable in his years ahead. My younger pup also gets routine care and has been boarded at Broadway. I took the pup into Broadway Animal Hospital for his annual and some shots. They are one of two places in Tucson that accepts my let insurance. I got curious and wanted to read some yelp reviews while in the office. Mistake, I ended up freaking myself out. Why you might ask? Some of the previous reviews talk about the appearance of the hospital and I am completely with them. The appearance is -not- hospital like at all. When I pulled up I had a lot of apprehension. It looks older because it is. When I got inside it was very quaint AND yes, it has a smell but it smells faintly like bathing animals. They have an Onsite groomer which might explain that. After that lengthy intro, let's jump into it. Greeting and the Wait -- walked in and smiles smiles smiles. I have husky, it's hard not to pet him and love on him. The girls all were just so happy to see us, and this was my first time here! They quickly got me checked in with the usual paperwork and we waited. They were running behind on the schedule but I'm pretty ok with knowing most likely the reason why is there were a couple of sick animal emergencies that had to be squeezed in. The groomer came up and introduced herself and played with my dog a bit. I think that was nice. During the wait other pet families came in and were all very nice. It is a small space and we were all pretty much in the same boat when it came to our excited pups wanting to sniff and play with each other. No playing commenced, but it was nice to see other pet families in there with the usual waiting room chatting. The Exam, the Dr. and Shots -- got called back, weighed and put in a room. Dr. Muller (sp?) was in rather quickly. I have to address the thermometer thing, there was one of those protector covers on it when she took his temp. She asked the general questions and was very straight forward and hopped right to on his shots. The pup has never flinched for shots and was giving kisses for the Dr. even after she put the stuff in his nose. So she was canine approved and I liked her. She gave me a few recommends, heart-worm meds, flea and tick meds. Asked about his diet. Asked if I would like to do a stool test to make sure his digestive system is good, I declined. She declared him good, warned that he might be a little sleepy later and we were sent on the way. Price -- I have pet insurance and my price is rather inexpensive and it was exactly what it has always been, so I cannot speak to the pricing. Overall, I was really satisfied and happy. Don't judge the book by its cover if the appearance makes you apprehensive. I liked it, I am keeping this vet. I will update if I ever have to go back for anything more serious. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

He is always super excited to visit because the boarding staff are so great with him and clearly adore him as much as he adores them. I can't recommend this place enough. Read Less

Our dogs have been going to Dr.Mueller for 8 years now. Our normal vet was out of town and our dog needed emergency surgery and overnight care. She recommended Broadway Animal Hospital to us then. Rocks was seen right away and after surgery given a 30% chance to survive. After a week of round the clock care he made a full recovery. We have taken both our dogs to Dr. Mueller ever since. Besides the original stomach surgery she has also repaired Rocks ear hematoma and spayed our other dog Carmel. I LOVE that she is quick and to the point, no BS. She is a excellent vet and truly cares about her patients and what is best for them. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
