Buena Pet Clinic Pc

I have visited Buena Pet Clinic about 15 times for routine shots, infections, check-ups, and surgery. They offer a wide range of appointment availability and I'm always able to make one at my desired time. I spend at most 5 minutes in the waiting area. I deducted one star from the overall rating because of discrepancy among the doctors in regard to the timeline of required shots and varying opinions about treatment. I trust their referrals since I was recommended to a dermatologist with whom I had a good experience. Overall, I find the office staff, technicians, and doctors to be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Although I haven't been to another clinic to make a comparison, I recommend Buena Pet Clinic. Read Less

Staff is friendly and attentive. I have seen all veterinarians over the past several years. My pet's veterinarian is Dr. Nightingale and he is wonderful. He is thorough and doesn't over-prescribe medications, and is great with my dog. I highly recommend Buena Pet Clinic. Read Less

They are always amazing with my pets and when I couldn't afford all of my pets meds and surgery that was greatly needed they didnt even bat an eye at helping us with it anyway and making something we could afford, so because of them my Dog Odin didnt have to be put to sleep. Read Less

Very inconsiderate when it comes time to put pets down. Very noisy room and we were left waiting for our dog’s final shot for over 10 minutes. When I accompanied a friend to a pet clinic in Flagstaff, they put her cat down very humanely with an arm band and shot. This place offered a completely different experience. Not comfortable, and not accommodating to the feelings of people. Would not recommend for the place to put your pet down. Very disappointed. Read Less

The Doctors and Techs are amazing here. They care about your animals as much as you do. However what stops me from giving 5 starts is one or two of their front desk staff are AWFUL! You can tell it's just a job for them, they could careless which is very sad given the back staff care so much!! Read Less

Dr. Karnes and his staff have taken wonderful care of Jackson. He was pretty sick with liver & gallbladder issues and he took plenty of time with me and my dog to thoroughly check and evaluate him on all levels. He even did a diagnostic X-ray free of charge. He really goes above and beyond and truly cares about his patients. I'm always able to get an appointment and Dr. Karnes calls me personally with lab results or to answer any questions I have about the care of my dog. Read Less

They took my dog in as a new patient within the hr I called and did surgery the following day for the 52 bladder stones she had. They all were awesome, friendly, caaring, gentle and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Read Less

I have 3 English bulldogs, one with allergies, a beagle mix and an 11 year old doxie. Dr hallenbach and staff are AMAZING. I had been looking for a good bet that used common sense with my bulldogs instead of running the monetary gambit every time we came in for my dog with allergies. They are friendly, and flexible. They have on numerous occasions now gotten us in when they were booked solid and even let me return once when I had forgotten my wallet. I was recommended to this vet clinic by several people on base. They are very knowledgeable, quick, and treat you like family. Today I called concerned about my 8 week old puppy and they fit me into their very busy schedule with no problems. I would definitely recommend this vet to anyone in the Tucson area. I have two papillions..when one got stung by a bee her face swelled up like a balloon! I called Buena Pet Clinic just before closing time and they said they would wait for me to bring her in. My parents took their dogs there for about 20 years. I've been taking mine for 12. They have gone above and beyond for all of our pups. The doctors are excellent as is the rest of the entire staff. I trust them completely with my dogs, whom I love very much. Read Less

They often have long waits, the new vets they have know less than I do reading up on the dog's conditions and they refused to see my dog (an established patient) when she hurt her leg half an hour before they closed on a Friday. They told me to give her a baby aspirin and wait until Monday while she was screaming in pain. They don't have any arrangement with an emergency vet, I had to find one on my own even while they were still in the office. I can't believe their callous disregard for pets' health and well being. I myself have been a veterinary technician and know how a veterinary hospital/clinic should run. This clinic is NOT run well! The receptionists up front were too busy talking and didn't see me come in and sign in. I waited an extra 25 minutes after my appointment to be called back. When I called originally to schedule an appointment for vaccines, they told me my dog was up to date. However, when I was checking out, I noticed he was way overdue on a vaccine. The technician couldn't get my dogs heart rate or respiration rate because he was "squirmy". She didn't even take out the stethoscope until after a few minutes trying to get the heart rate and respiration rate by watching. (Mind you, my dog was panting). What a joke! Dr. Halback is fantastic!!! But the veterinary technicians/assistants and receptionists are horrible and need some more training! Do not recommend. There are plenty of veterinary clinics and this is not a good choice. Read Less

My 6 year old boxer just had a mast cell tumor removed from his eyelid and diagnosed by Dr. Halbach at Buena. I was referred to an oncologist who wasn't much help so I called Buena and asked to speak to Dr. Halbach again to ask some questions. Dr. Halbach was busy at the time but returned my call first thing the following morning. He immediately referred me to another clinic and the receptionists at Buena even helped to set-up my appointment with the new oncologist the following day. After seeing the new oncologist, Dr. Halbach personally called me to ensure that I was happy with the new options that were provided to me. I have never received such personalized care. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Halbach and the staff and Buena pet clinic. They helped to save my boxer's eye and I will be sure to recommend them to all other pet owners I know! Read Less

I have been taking my dogs (2 bullmastiffs and a Aussie Shep mix) to Buena Pet Clinic for about 3 years now, and have never received anything other than *excellent*, loving care. My experiences have been similar to midalmata - when an x-ray revealed that Cleo had a probably-inoperable condition, they gave me the choice to transport her to a specialist or have her put down, and Dr. Halbach gave me his cell number to reach him directly after I had taken a few hours to consider my decision. He met me *back* at the clinic, after his regular work hours, to administer the injection himself and stayed with us as long as we needed. All the staff having been loving and caring, and they put my animals' comfort first. Vet bills are expensive any where, any more, but they are certainly open to talking to you about what costs might be and how to minimize them. The place is evidently popular, judging from the crowded waiting room and length of time it occasionally takes for them to answer the phone - but I've always been able to be seen immediately in case of emergencies, always had my calls returned, and always believed my pets were in GOOD hands when we visited. At first I thought this clinic would be a wonderful place to take my pets. The girls at the reception desk are wonderful and are friendly with both you and your pet. I have two small dogs. Recently my dog woke up and couldn't walk and appeared to be in pain. I was able to get him in immediately to the clinic. I had told the vet the dog over the weekend had jumped from the truck and may have injured himself. He ordered x-rays and from what he saw on the x-ray it appeared he had a blockage from something he may have eaten and couldn't pass. We were given medication to help him pass the obstruction. For the next few days we were to examine his bowel movements to see if he could pass whatever it was he had eaten. The dog still seemed to be in pain and he didn't pass anything. He was then taken back into the clinic where they did another x-ray and now on this one he didn't see any blockage, but the dog was not improving. He was originally on an antibiotic and a pain med and was now only on an antibiotic. We travel and we always take our pets with us, but we had the concern if we were away what would we do and we were told to call the office and they would talk to the vet wherever we might be. Unfortunately, we did need this service, but no calls were returned to us or the vet. This vet suggested we just leave him on the pain meds and watch him carefully. The next morning we received a call from the new vet asking how the dog was doing and again that night. The only call we got from Beuna pet clinic was after his original visit. After that whenever we called we were told the doctor would call us back...but we wouldn't get a call back, we were only told to bring the dog back into the clinic for the doctor to see him. After 4 visits within a two week period to the clinic and $2,000 worth of medical bills for various tests he was seen by a different doctor at the clinic and he told us to keep him on the pain medication for awhile longer to make him comfortable until they could consult with one another for further treatment and they would call with what they found, no calls were received. Our dog was then seen by a specialist who was asked to come into the clinic and again all the tests came back okay, this time however we went into the clinic to find out the results. My dog is okay now because we did leave him on pain meds until he was able to move around and I firmly believe had they listened to me when I said he jumped from a truck and may have injured himself he would not have had to have all the extensive testing he had, nor would we have had the expense. I am upset over the fact we took this dog into the clinic for follow ups and they charged each time for each visit along with all the testing. I acknowledge the fact they do need to do testing, but when I called to get the test results I was continually told the doctor was with someone and would return my call and only after calling for 2 or even more days would I get the doctor to tell me what the results were of the tests. and this is only after persistent calling them. I would think they would have time set aside each day to make their return calls or if they are unable to call to have one of the girls at least call to let you know so you are not left hanging. We love our pets they are my children and I want the best care given to them. Test results are important in the care of your pet, don't use Beuna Pet Clinic if you have a sick pet, only use them for annual shots and checkups, or just find a vet who can do both! Read Less

The veterinarians at Beuna have always given my dogs the best of care. And they have always sought for ways to charge the least they can. They always have treated my pets like they were their own. Let me put it this way: they came in over Easter to take care of my dog. You can't find a better vet in Tucson, which is why I have been going to Buena for 27 years. Read Less

I read the review by StarGirl999 and this person (even with the New Yorker Attitude) must be on drugs or something and self-centered for sure. This vet clinic is the best ever. Both myself and my Breeder bring our Dalmatians to any of the Vets on duty there as they are ALL AWESOME. The staff is the best on the planet and their caring ways show me they love what they do and how well they do their jobs. My very first visit was to put my 16 year old Dalmatian down. I was amazed at what I encountered there... you would have thought my pooch and myself were life long family friends. We could not have been better treated even if they were all my personal family. What ever this StarGirl is demented about seems to be all about money and not about the pet. Her wanting something for free is absurd. So the clinic should go to work for free so if the outcome is not what the customer demands (although life/death is always out of any ones control). Then the customer doesn't have to pay? As in, I just had cancer surgery again this past week... should I not pay the wonderful professionals that assist me just because I have not (yet) been cured? Get a life StarGirl999. I took my dog to Buena starting as just a pup, the staff was able to help me make appointments around my busy schedule so that she would be able to get all of the vaccines and check-ups that she needed. When it came time to get her spayed, I was nervous about dropping her off, but when I went to pick her up she was in pretty good shape, considering that she had recently undergone surgery! When I had gotten my other dogs spayed at different facilities (reputable as well) they were down for a few days, but this time my girl was back on her feet that night. I was really happy with how her stitches looked and they didn't seem to cause her much irritation. When we went back in for the removal, the Vet and Vet Tech were very gentle with my girl and coxed and petted her through the process. I was very happy with the level of service that we got there and it is nice to know that whenever I have a question I can just pick up the phone and call them and I can get a response from a staff member instantly, without having to make an appointment. Our experience was not good. Vet mistakenly used too much anesthetic, our dog never woke up. He should not have used general anesthetic on older dog, my dog only had swollen ear. I would not pay the $600 bill, so they set collections after me. I am now being sued in civil court by collections agency, who wants thousands more for lawyers fees, etc. There are far better vets in Tucson, we used to go to Dr Kaufman when his office was close by. If you can find where he is now, I highly recommend him. I will never bring another dog to Buena Pet Clinic. Not only did I lose my dog, but they demonstrated spitefulness and malice by setting a vicious collections agency after me. My vet in NYC never billed me when my cat did not survive the operation. My friend's vet did not bill her when her kitty did not survive the operation, plus that compassionate vet did autopsy to see what went wrong plus donated big money to animal help group. There is a decent way to handle this. So based on bad care, compounded with malice, avoid Buena Pet Clinic Read Less
