I would highly recommend Dr Leuth and her staff at Cortaro Farms Pet Hospital. I was a vet tech myself for many years so I am very particular about the way a clinic handles clients and more importantly, patients. I went to Cortaro for a second opinion regarding an elderly cat (16 at the time) that was shaking his head and scratching at his ears. I had examined the ears and found nothing. At his regular vet I was told he had "narrow ear canals" I asked if it might be his teet...h? Nope, narrow ears. Because that sounded off to me I took him to Cortaro. Guess what. Bad teeth. We did a teeth cleaning with some extractions, all for a couple hundred less than most clinics, and no more head shaking. Cortaro remained my cats vet until the day I said goodbye almost 3 years later. The entire staff, including and especially Dr Leuth really were incredible through the entire final process. I have had to say goodbye more times than I care to count over my many years as a pet owner. It's never easy but when the vet and her staff cares as much about your pet as this vet and staff does it softens the blow just a little. For that and the wonderful care you gave my Tsavo boy, thank you. See More Read Less

LOOOOOOVE Dr. Lueth and staff. Have been going there for at least 10 years. Have heard people say they are “expensive”, but do you love your pets? Do you want the best for them? If not, go elsewhere and get off “cheap” when it comes to dollars, but when it comes to their health and well-being, to me, a few extra bucks is worth it, AND it’s not just that... going “cheap” like people often do, can end up costing MORE. Just like springing for a “cheap” hair stylist... I’ve done it... and regretted it. Basically - it’s about value. What’s important to you? Whether it’s hair or pet care, if you have a particular standard, then don’t settle for less. Read Less

My dogs are my children. This veterinary clinic is really fantastic. Being that I recently moved to AZ, they took the time to discuss the new dangers in AZ vs my old state. Primarily information on Valley Fever, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and to stay away from javelinas. I found this information really valuable. They also were sympathetic when I brought my dog in after a pitbull attack at a local dog park (the initial visit was at a ER Vet downtown but all follow ups were at this clinic). It's also nice how much more affordable vet care is down in AZ. I was used to paying $1,100 combined for both of my dogs to do their yearly visits. It's now about $300. But the quality of work is fantastic! Read Less

I had an appointment set with Dr. Lueth today to see my dog who has been having GI issues for weeks. Since my large (95 lb) dog is scared that he€ll be hurt when he goes to the vet, he growls when there is any kind of exam or treatment being done. We have previously tried putting a muzzle on him with very bad results. He behaved frantically trying to get the muzzle off by clawing at it as if he were fighting for his life. He eventually got it off and crawled under a chair to avoid further attempts to put it on. He has vigorously resisted having it put on him again. Since that time I€ve had success just holding him from the side and controlling his head so that he can get shots or whatever. Although no actual exam was performed, they have MANY times charged me for an exam anyway. I fully expected that we would have to sedate him to get an adequate exam performed along with an x-ray today. This situation should have been well understood by Dr. Lueth as well as the techs, since we discussed this in my visit a little more than a week ago and because of previous office visits. He has been sedated at least once previously for this purpose. Today the tech returned with a muzzle and was handing it to me as if she was completely unaware and unconcerned about the difficulty I have had putting one on and the fact that even if I get it on he will fight it so vigorously that it€s unworkable. I reminded the tech of this and she returned saying that Dr. Lueth insists it be placed on him! The doctor never appeared to discuss this or inform me why she could not just sedate him and perform the exam and x-ray under sedation as expected. I was left with no choice, but to take my dog home and seek another vet who is more accommodating. I completely understand that the doctor and techs don€t want to risk a bite, but this was completely avoidable with the sedation. This was a traumatic experience for me because I was very anxious to get my beloved dog diagnosed and treated, instead I was essentially refused service unnecessarily. I suspect that they just wanted to get rid of us as it was after 5p on a Friday. Very, very poor service and the lack of care or concern for the animal was evident as it has been on many other occasions. If you wish to have your pet treated by caring communicative vet at a reasonable price, this one should be avoided! Read Less

very poor exam and handling of my 14 year old male cat who I brought in for a regular exam and vaccinations. the tech was very rough, seemed very inexperienced and did most of the exam including teeth which I thought was not complete enough. they were unable to get a urine sample using a 22 gauge needle into the bladder area without using a ultra sound which they said they did not use and then tried to push 2 pills down my cats throat with both of us getting scratched so they took him into another room for that to bundle him up all the while I'm trusting that they have drawn blood, have tried to get urine in a barbaric fashion and also gave him the pills. the doctor-dr. luell acted like she couldn't be bothered with questions on diet, age related problems and was very unprofessional and unfriendly. I saw this vet in 2006, did not like her then and definitely did not like her now. their prices were way too high-ended up paying $284.00 with a small bag of charcoal like liter with a pipette to use to extract urine for testing. it was all very uncomfortable, traumatic for me and my cat. the vet also did not give the injections slowly, but very fast and could tell my cat was in pain. I have been to other vets and this type of care and charges was never this bad. do not take your animal there-they really don't care to take the time. Read Less

Not the business, but the vet. I've known Paula Medler for something like 35 years. I, or rather my dog, was her first patient when she joined a Tucson practice. Dr. Medler got me through some of the worst times of my life - when my dog (PJ) swallowed an embroidery needle and needed endoscopic surgery, when another dog (Katie) was bitten for the seventh (!!!) time by a rattlesnake and needed 3 days in doggy ICU and I forget how many vials of antivenin, when the retired guide dog (Viceroy) I'd adopted began to have seizures and needed so much medication, when my Golden (JessieV) finally reached her last days at 16 and Paula cried as much as I did - and the list goes on and on. I doubt you can find a better, more caring, more involved veterinarian than Paula Medler, DVM!! As for the application of Chinese medicine techniques, I remember when she came back from training and I watched her use those techniques, with such amazing results. She's the best. SIX stars!!!!! RATING........25 STARS We have been bringing Maggie & Figaro our pussycats to this wonderful place for a very long time.  Both Dr. Leuth and Dr. Medler are very talented, knowledgeable & kind and caring.  Our babies will be 14 years old on May 1, 2016.Maggie has had 3 surgeries for the cancer near her ear.  Now it has come back and can no longer be removed by surgery.  Saw Dr. Medler this past week & she said to give Maggie anything she wants to eat.  She is losing weight & we need to keep her alive as long as we can. She loves thinly sliced roast beef from the deli at Fry's so I give that to her and she gobbles it up right out of my hand.  She is on 2 different pills & it's hard to give them to her as she tries to spit them out but we are trying hard to keep them in her mouth. When Dr. Medler talks to her you would think she is talking to a small child.  She adores Maggie.  Never met a doctor quite like this awesome lady.  Both Frankie and I hug and kiss herand tell her how much we LOVE her.  She is pulling every trick out of her hat to keep our Maggie girl alive for as long as she and we can.PLEASE....if you need a vet to take care of your babies then this is where you must go.  I know that you will be more than satisfied and you too will come to love these wonderful ladies. Upon going to leave I was given a bill of 288.30!!! I asked why and I was told it was 210.00 for the blood work, 53.00 for the visit and the medication was 25.30. I asked why the visit was not free and they told me it had been to long since I adopted the puppy from PACC. Why I was not told this upfront is beyond me. However 210.00 in blood work that no one told me about is unacceptable, that's not a small fee that's something that they need to advise you of. I was under the impression they had to tell you the cost of any treatment upfront.

However 210.00 in blood work that no one told me about is unacceptable, that's not a small fee that's something that they need to advise you of. I was under the impression they had to tell you the cost of any treatment upfront. I can say that the lack of integrity and the inability to be honest and upfront has assured I will not only leave negative feedback everywhere I can but that I will never go back.**Update** This morning I had to call back because not only is our puppy not feeling better now he is worse. Upon calling and telling them that he has gotten worse I was told that the Doctor was in surgery and they would get back to me. After doing some research I found out the following, the medication they gave me is for arthritis, so not only have they not helped while charging over $280 I still do not know what's wrong with our puppy.
