Brandi (1998-2012) and ButtonHoney (1998-2013) were treated with respect and affection by the entire staff, but most especially by Jamie Whiting, their "personal physician". Today I pick up our new family member, "Liberty" a 6 year old Rottie from PACC. I received a certificate to Vets that offer Courteous Check-ups after Spaying and I choose Mesquite even though they are very far from my home due to the wonderful Reviews about their office. It was very easy to schedule an appt, the staff is very nice to speak with. I am looking forward to taking "Liberty" to see them and establish them as our new Family Vet.... All the staff have been wonderful at this office. I have a 15 year old dog and they are very gentle and helping me to manage her achy body with both meds and acupuncture. There will never be enough accolades for me to share concerning Dr. Whiting and her staff. I simply cannot put all of my thanks into mere words. The 14 years that we have used Mesquite Veterinary Hospital as our one and only dog care facility have proven to me that if you do what you love, you'll not only be successful but you will also affect many people's lives for the better (and of course their pets!). Dharma the Desert Dog, Deuce (Mr. Amenable), and Raji the Rottweiler have all been under Mesquite's care at one time or another. In each case, over years and years, Dr. Whiting has provided my dog friends with loving care through her own exceptional skills and talents as well as by picking a staff that has great heart. You finally know how good a Vet Clinic is by having your dog euthanized there. A strange way to evaluate, I know, however I have had that experience twice now under the guidance and care of Dr. Whiting. To say goodbye to a dear dog friend that you have loved is never easy, however having a place of love and care makes it possible to feel that your dog was blessed in their last moments. I can only hope that I, too, have such a peaceful ending. This clinic is as fine as they come. Make friends with the vet and watch how your pet relationship blooms. Read Less

Great place!! I am new to the area and needed a vet, and chose them based on being close to where I live. I couldn't have chosen any better. I was able to get my dog in the same day. The staff is very professional and friendly. I was welcomed immediately with smiles on their faces, and had no wait at all. The vet explained everything to me and presented different treatment options with all of the costs. I have been to several vets that I would never go back to, and also, have had years long relationships with vet clinics. This seems like one I will continue taking my fur babies to. Dr Baker always listens and asks questions, mentions other options, his excellent bedside manner is reserved for your pets, and he truly cares. He is kind. He is very good with my teen daughter who has autism. Staff is friendly and interested in my pets. We ADORE Dr Baker. Read Less

I had just gotten on the plane in Houston but we hadn't left the gate yet. My phone rang and it was Dr. Baker asking if it was alright if he got some medication to my dog Reggie .( Probably at least a 30 mile round trip for him ).( Medication which I had forgotten and left at home the night before ). I was on my way to my son's wedding out-of-state . I was boarding my dog in town as I live about two hours from the airport and had a 5 AM flight . I tried to get several friends to get some medicine at the pharmacy but I couldn't find anyone that late Wed evening so I had to give up . While I knew I was leaving my dog with good people I was still concerned since he didn't have the medicine. That was Wednesday 6/8 about six or 6:30 PM . Thursday 6/9 is when Dr. Baker called me . Many of you know Dr. Baker and would not be surprised that he would go to these extremes. The same is true about Dr. Whiting and the whole staff at Mesquite vet hospital. It has come to my attention that a veterinarian at this practice is planning on traveling to Africa with her family to hunt animals. I thought vets were supposed to help and protect animals, not kill them. Shame on you! Read Less

We have used Mesquite since 2002 and have never had a even slightly unpleasant experience. Dr Whiting has been treating our dog since the beginning and is a most caring person. The staff is equally professional and always remembers us and our dog. Would definitely recommend them to everyone.Read Less

Niko just went to Mesquite Veterinary Hospital for the first time and we both loved it. Dr. Baker spent lots of time getting to know him. The reception staff even helped with a weird request. Now Niko is anxious (well, maybe a slight exaggeration) to get his teeth cleaned. Read Less

Although I didn't want to admit it, and it was past the time when I should have made the decision, I finally realized it was time to let my 15+ year old Chow/Lab go.  I chose Mesquite because they are the closest hospital to me in Catalina and I read other good reviews.  I called them at 8 a.m. and was grateful when they said they could get me in at 9:30.  I couldn't have asked for a more caring, personable, kind doctor than we got with Dr. Jamie Whiting.  She gently let me know that she agreed it was time.  Tamara assisted and she was wonderful too.  A few days later I received a condolence card signed by the entire staff and enclosed was a tiny paper dog bone that contains wildflower seeds to plant in memory of your pet.  One of the worst days of my life was made a little easier by a caring staff and I cannot thank them enough. Mesquite Vets have been treating my FlamePoint Siamese, Chan Rak, for over a year. He has conditions thst at times can flare up and need immediate attention. Dr. Whiting and the staff at Mesquite are kind, compassionate and always ready to help. Chan has been treated with the best care available, and we will continue to take him and his brother to see Dr. Whiting whenever the need arises.Dr. Whiting is willing to collaborate on Chan's care with me, refer us out to specialists if necessary, and throughout all of this, stay personally interested in his ongoing health.One can not ask for more from a Vet! Mesquite Vet Hosp was recommended to me after my dog ate something toxic.  I couldn't have been more pleased with the kind staff, and especially Dr. Whiting who acted quickly, passionately, and professionally which ultimately saved my dogs life.  I am a snow bird and had no prior experience with this clinic but they treated me like their own.  Much appreciated!! I have been going to Mesquite Vets for nearly 2 years now, despite it being an hour drive from my house. I gladly drive  passed 20+vets to get to see Dr. Jamie Whiting. My older dog hit his head making a turn too fast, which resulted in a serious welt. It didn't go down in a week so we went to Dr. Jamie. Dr. Jamie said that he could have broken a tooth above the root line and that if that was the case it would require surgery. She could see that this caused me stress because my dog is older and anesthesia is hard on older animals. She suggested that she prescribe an anti-inflammatory and some pain meds to see if that helped him. The meds worked great and the welt healed. I can see other vets wanting to immediately do a surgery or at least take a lot of costly X-rays rather than try the least invasive method first. Then my cat was diagnosed with congestive heart failure so I saw a lot of Dr. Jamie for around 10 months. Dr. Jamie always took the time to drain my cats chest herself and she always gave me time to ask questions about her treatments and options.I've had animals all my life and I've seen many vets, but Dr. Jamie Whiting is amazing and caring and wonderful and so I can't recommend her enough! I brought my dog here a few weeks ago.  First off, the vet was very nice.  The staff upfront were not the most friendly but the vet tech was.  I called to and asked what time they were open to and they said 5:30.  I explained my dog was sick and asked if they could see me at 5pm, as it was the only time I had.  They didn't accommodate this, nor did they even try.  I went elsewhere and found better service.  You should too. Overpriced, unprofessional, unfriendly! I took my puppy for his second set of shots to this place (the breeder had given the first shots). The front desk staff is unfriendly but the female vet seemed to be OK. My second visit did not go as well. The male vet was absent minded and I had not expected to have another vet treat my dog at these prices. I could have went to PetSmart/Banfield where they have various vets on duty at a fraction of the cost. I asked to get an ear cleaning solution, which I did not get. No return visit was scheduled by the very unfriendly cashier. I paid for a urine analysis ($40+) which I was to collect the next morning but I decided to call them and ask to get a refund. The estimate for neutering my puppy was around $300 which is ridiculous. A couple of weeks later I called to have them email the puppy's vaccination records for joining a training class. Nothing was emailed (and yes, I checked my spam). I called a few days later and asked them to mail me the vaccination records. What I got instead was a reminder for the next vaccination date which I did not even know about. I called them and asked them to email me the records and they stated they had just started to use email and they had had some problems and had been reset so they did not know what happened to any earlier emails. Oddly, they claimed that they get 100s of emails a day and that's why they could not find my email request sent just a few minutes earlier. The estimate for neutering my puppy was around $300 which is ridiculous. I am certainly not one bit confident that this place is equipped to offer the level of customer service that I expect, especially at these high prices. Anal sac expression was $26 which took about 45 seconds and did not even smell bad. Because they don't have their office running smoothly, and their lack of expertise with OLD TECH like email, I hate to think what goes on behind closed doors. Both vets were older and I was left to wonder if they are current with state-of-the-art vet care. I would never trust my precious puppy to be treated for anything at this place. I checked my debit account if they had given me the refund for the urine analysis, and as expected, they had not. They promised to send my refund check which I hate: the hassle of going to my bank to cash a $40 check. So now "the check is in the mail". Read Less
