Pantano Animal Clinic

Cannot say enough good things about this animal clinic and their entire staff. My experience from the first phone call to completing my cat's visit was stellar. My adopted cat is not very social and this was his first annual check up. The vet tech, Kristen and Dr Quick made the experience stellar for both of us. Dr Lawton is the best! My pets like him, so that's half the battle, but not so sure about my tortoise, Gloria. She'd rather be left alone. Kind, patient, attentive staff, takes the time to explain conditions, procedures and treatment, calming human fear's as well. Read Less

I have been taking my dogs here for years and they have always received excellent care. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and do not try to sell us on unnecessary services. The office is clean and cozy. Lately I have been taking my dog for laser therapy to help with his hip stiffness. It seems to be helping! They always bring him a frozen treat to distract him during his treatments. I will definitely be returning with my dogs. Read Less

We have had difficulty finding a vet that we like, find trustworthy, and honest. For this reason, when needed, we would take our pets to drop-in clinics in our vicinity. Recently, our dog was bitten by a skunk and needed an immediate rabies booster shot. After calling several clinics, we went to Pantano Animal Clinic as they were able to see us within the same day and were conveniently located to us. The staff -- from the receptionists, to the technicians, to the veterinarian -- were all extremely kind and caring. In addition, their prices seemed reasonable. There are good vets, bad vets, and vets in between. Until I moved to Tucson and found Pantano Animal Clinic I had not had the experience of knowing a really good vet. The veterinarians and the staff are all genuinely friendly and helpful and you can tell that they really do love animals. Even the smelly ones :) Read Less

Pantano Animal Clinic is the most amazing vet clinic that I have ever been to. Dr. Quick and Christine R. create a powerhouse of excellent veterinary care. Walked in at 357pm and asked if they were still open since there was a sign that said they were closed at 4. The lady behind the desk said yes and as I walk out with my sick dog I hear....in 3 minutes. I walk back in and ask, "are you closed or not" and another lady asked if we had an appointment. I said no, an emergency but if your closed I will go somewhere else. And she said "yes we're closed". Absolutely rude, disrespectful. Ended up going to Southern Arizona Vet and they were fabulous! I have been taking my dog here for 2 years for regular check ups, vaccinations and the occasional minor health concern. Every experience I have had has been wonderful. The entire staff is personable and helpful, and you can tell they truly care about their patients. Highly recommended. Read Less

I had previously taken my dog to another vet, whom did not take into account they type of breed he is when it came to interpreting his blood work results. My dog is a whippet and along with greyhounds, their results can be very different from other dogs. So I called a rescue greyhound place and asked who they would recommend and they recommended Pantano Animal Clinic. I was very happy with our first visit. The vet took his time doing an exam, asking about my dog's medical history (they even said they would request his medical records from his previous vets), and making sure I understood what his concerns were. My entire family have been taking our dogs and cats to Drs. Lent and Quick for as long as I can remember (~20 years).  These guys are stellar, and have gone above and beyond for our family pets.  Dr. Quick is incredibly personable and is so funny and sweet, and I feel like he genuinely cares about our pets as well as making sure we are taken care of properly.  These guys have taken care of some of our dogs and cats through their entire life span, and to this day remember them years after their passing.  They call to see how our dogs/cats are when they are ill, too.  I have never once felt like they were trying to make a buck off of me, I always felt they genuinely cared.  Honestly, unless there was a dire circumstance, I will always be loyal to Drs. Lent and Quick and the staff at Pantano Animal Clinic! As an aside, I'm not sure what the negative review a couple down came from, considering that they don't keep animals overnight for observation because they aren't a 24-Hour Clinic sooo...yeah.  The vets here have always been stellar. I have taken about three cats and my first dog I have ever owned to this vet. Although they are competent and courteous, every time I went there it seemed like they are mostly interested I the almighty dollar. I can see that the hey need to stay in business, I don't even pay my primary care physician even half of my the fee schedule that they have. For example if info for immunizations, they will try to pimp you out of your hard earned cash. The fees are so high, but they always try and scare you into giving in to you're fears about keeping you're pet free from disease and death. They play on how vulnerable you are and play on the possibility of any of harm coming and how much you want to keep your four-legged family members safe. I once had a part Siamese cat several years ago. It was my absolute single most favorite cat....to this day. He got sick with loose dark stool vomiting and wouldn't eat. After a few days of this my wife and I found some partially eaten ribbon that you wrap around XMas presents (those skinny thin ones) and were concerned that he had swallowed it. We had to take him for help and took him to Pantano Animal Clinic. He saw the vet and she recommend not only blood tests, but abdominal X-rays as well. We decided start with an X-ray. After a few minutes, this "Doctor" of veterinary medicine told us that she could see the ribbon on the X-ray and that it was stuck in his digestive tract. She recommended that the cat stay at the clinic over the weekend under observation and be closely monitored for signs of distress.  She convinced us that he was in great danger.  The cat ended up staying overnight and when we called the next day, after not hearing from the clinic, she told us that she started IV fluids and took several more X-rays. She said that the ribbon was moving along.  She again wanted to do some blood tests and that the animal could die if she didn't know more that the X-rays said. I decide to wait because I imagined that the bill was growing substially, with not only the basic exam fees, but the IV fluids, and the overnight observation fees that were racking up. I told her that we would have to explore other options because we didn't exactly have a huge income or savings at that time and had an new baby  and  a toddler with hearing disabilities which took any extra money we had. We called the following as again, we didn't hear from anyone. The Dr got on the phone and proceeded to tell us that she was reading the X-ray wrong and what she had thought was a foreign object in his gut, turned out to be an ARTIFACT! This all coming from someone who supposedly had at least 4 years of college and another few years or so of veterinary school a a couple more of training! I was so upset. Especially after hearing that she did even more serial X-rays to monitor something that was never there to begin with. To add icing on the cake, she gave us a billing invoice that listed every last supply they supposedly used, Doctor exam fees (because she billed for every time she even looked in the cat's direction...6 alleged exams@65$ for the whole 48 hrs!), overnight/after hours observation, doses of laxatives and he was already having diarrhea! And last but not least a whopping 100$ X-rays and fee for interpretation BY HER! it came out to 2400$ !! She wouldn't adjust anything in the bill especially the X-ray charges! This is why I don't trust most vet clinics now especially this one. The sad part is that I tried to hold her accountable but she couldn't be held negligent or responsible!! Read Less

My husband and I moved from Norther California to Tucson four years ago and after visiting two other veterinary offices here in town and being disappointed in them we were so blessed to find Pantano Animal Clinic.  We have had an abundance of issues in the five months we have been going there from a foster with kennel cough to a very limpy puppy that needed x-rays very quickly they have been nothing short of AMAZING.  Dr. Lawton and his vet tech Christie have taken wonderful care of both us and our pups!!  Our pups and we will be patients for life!!! I recently had to bring our beloved dog Trigger in due to a fight. He was badly injured and unfortunately we had to let him go. We were devastated but the staff and the Dr. were extremely kind and sympathetic. They gave us plenty of time and put Trigger in a box so that we could bury him that night. They gave us a cute clay disk of his paw prints and name. We also received a sympathy card in the mail that all the staff members signed. We really appreciated all of the thoughtfulness. Dr. Lent and Dr. Quick have provided excellent care for my pets for 32 years. I recently lost my 2 Airedales within one month and received cards notices that they had made a donation in my dog's names to other animals in need in honor of their passing. I haven't lived near this clinic for 20 years but I have traveled across town to maintain this very important relationship with people who genuinely cared for my "furry children". I bring my two girls here for vet care. They are the best. I have seen Dr. Lent and Dr. Quick. They are two vets that really care about the animal and not just the money. They take the time to listen to you. The staff was very nice too. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Read Less

Had to take my little 8 year old miniature doxie in this morning as she seemed to be having a bad reaction to a rabies shot I got for her at another clinic.  We saw Dr. Lent and he took care of her and even called later to see how she was doing.  They are wonderful there and I am so thankful they were able to get her in right away on a Saturday even though we were not regular patients of theirs. I will be bringing her there now whenever we need vet services.  All the people who work there were really nice and so good with her.  Going back in 2 weeks to get her checked and make an appointment to get her teeth cleaned.  Thank you Dr. Lent. Dr. Lent is so wonderful to me and to my pets. Always a phone call away to answer my questions or put my worries to rest. This office is a great supporter of the Humane Society and gave great information and shots for my puppy that we adopted. There are two doctors so even if one is booked you can see the other and they are able to remain open when one of them is on a well deserved vaca!  Highly recommend them because my experience here has been 5 stars... Clean, friendly, experienced, priced right and there when I need them,  They have many services and up on many new practices, diets and remedies... don't take this like a car salesman take it like an informed awesome doctor and respond with yes please! or No thank you! Dr. Quick is the best vet and surgeon in Tucson. We have taken now 3 different dogs to Pantano and Dr. Quick has always treated not only our dogs as if his own, we are treated like family too. I would recommend them to all. Read Less
