My friend took her cat to PAWS for the first time last weekend and it was a great experience. As soon as we walked in the door, we were immediately greeted by the people at the front desk. They were friendly, offered us coffee and a tour of the facility. The place is clean from the waiting room to the examination room. Abby and Dr. Jobe were both amazing. They were efficient and explained everything they were doing. The recommendations were made for the best of the cat, and not for selling additional products. They followed up a couple days later to check on the cat. Would recommend PAWS to any family member or friend, who would like an excellent experience. Read Less

It’s always tough moving to a new place and finding a good fit for your babies. PAWS has been terrific. The folks on the phones, the front office staff, the vet techs, and the vets themselves are great. Our cat had to have teeth cleaning and extractions done very soon after our relocation. They explained everything up front at his exam, they were very caring on the day of the procedure, I met with both the tech and the vet before and after the procedure. They called me after the procedure to let me know how our cat was doing, as well as texting a photo later in the day as he recovered from the anesthetic. I am completely happy with the care our cat received from this team, and very pleased to have a vet of this caliber so close to home. Read Less

Top notch vet care. Suggestions for care and cost printed out for you to help you decide what course of action you wish to take. Some feel they are expensive. I have a pet sitting business and am familiar with many vets in town and the cost of their care. I find PAWS to be very reasonable. Especially if your pet has a serious issue, I wouldn't trust any other vet group. Many options available for care from naturalpathic to conventional. Great staff! Very helpful and kind. Although, the vets are very reliant on tests. They seem very uncomfortable giving any diagnosis without a many, in my view, unneeded tests. Tests are very accurate, but are expensive. Some tests would not be needed if the doctors were a bit more experienced and could make their own diagnosis. They seem afraid of legal action in case of a false diagnosis and would rather rely on the irrefutable proof of a test. Taking your pet here will give you great faith in tests, but not in any particular vet. This said, it is still a great facility and an enjoyable experience. One of the nurses sits down with you after the vet visit and goes through the itemized receipt and customizes it for your budget. It is very professional and they don't shame you for not being able to afford things that are on the list. Read Less

Took my 11 week old kitten here for her first set of shots. It was her first time ever at the vet so she was a bit scared. The staff was all so nice, everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly. What attracted me most to this particular vet was that they have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs. My kitten does not like dogs so this was great. The exam room was right by the waiting area. My kitten was able to walk around freely in the room while we waited for the vet. My kitten has never hissed at anyone but she did at the vet! The vet was so understanding and did all she could to make sure my kitten was comfortable. I was able to get questions about training and diet answered too! Visited June 1st with my spouses little dog.  When I get the attitude that they didn't appreciate me not buying $377 worth of treatment and supplements because I suggested that I talk it over with the dog's owner, I rethink my attitude about whomever I am dealing with.  I asked several times for a copy of treatment plan to include costs and specific items to purchase, was told "It's in the sheets I gave you" only to find out later, NOT, I tend to take a dim view of what happened.  Veterinary advice was the standard speel I've heard other places, so nothing new in that respect, unfortunately.  Some naturalist advice thrown in about what foods the dog should be eating.  I wonder how our animals managed to survive without $35 worth of mushroom supplements, $30 bottles of "buffered" vitamin C, and so forth.  And the office visit itself was a third more expensive than our old vet.  I must be getting old... This was my first time here and I was not very happy at all... I recently moved to Tucson with my dog and decided to make an appointment at PAWS because it had good reviews. First of all, I felt like the doctor rehearsed a speech that he gives to each client just to push products to increase the bill. The current pills that my dog was on were working pretty well since moving here so I didn't need a lecture on something that would be more expensive. I also felt uneasy because nothing was done in the room with me, they took my dog in the back and did everything there. I've been to many vets in the past and I have not had any of them do that. I had to ask the front desk if they even took a temperature. I had brought my dog in for a urinary infection and had to wait a day for medication until the results of her urinalysis came back. I specifically told the doctor that my dog had allergies to certain medications. When they prescribed her medication they gave her something she had never taken before. Of course when I gave it to her she broke out in hives. I immediately called and asked why the doctor didn't prescribe something that my dog had already taken before, and did not have a reaction to. To top that off I had brought in many pages of history on my dog and her issues and they were not even scanned in the computer. So that proves the doctor didn't even look at them when prescribing the medication the first time. I am so unhappy with my service and I think paying close to $500 dollars for that kind of service is ridiculous. I never even received a follow up call to see how my dog was doing. It was my first and last time visiting PAWS. Read Less

There is no question that PAWS is a beautiful facility with competent and caring staff.  I went there because my dog has been coping with a chronic gastrointestinal problem and as it is advertised as integrative medicine, I thought they would offer holistic alternatives. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Randy Aaronson because I was hoping to help my dog and avoid the expensive endoscopy which I told him at our visit.  He was very encouraging that there were several things and an endoscopy was much further down the line.  Unfortunately, the blood test, x-rays, and fecal test were negative.  When the medication he gave my dog did not resolve the problem within two weeks, Dr. Aaronson suggested doing the endoscopy (close to $3000) rather than spending a lot of money on trying other things. He's correct that this procedure is the ideal way to guide the treatment of GI problems.  It is worth noting that even with a diagnosis, not all dogs will respond to treatment or they will relapse.  I was surprised that Dr. Aaronson could only offer prescription dog food and worming as alternatives to the endoscopy. Recommending the endoscopy was, he said, to avoid spending a lot of money trying different things.  I'm confused-- what are some of these things that would cost a lot of money? My other concern with PAWS is that at the time of my initial visit when we didn't know for sure what the tests she was given that day would reveal and her GI tract was upset, I was sold over a month's supply of Tylan.  Then after two weeks when it hadn't resolved the problem, he recommended the endoscopy.  I wondered why so many pills in the first place (at $140) when we didn't know they would work.  I also was sold that day three supplements that I could only begin using after she got better. Looking back I wish I had had the presence of mind to question this since as it turns out I'm still not sure when I can give them to my dog. If you can afford to spend over a $1000 in diagnosing your pet's GI disease, I'd recommend PAWS.  My impression of Dr. Aaronson is that he is knowledgeable, upbeat, and experienced and the staff is caring and professional.  Unfortunately, I ended up feeling like since I couldn't spend the money they were done with me.  I got the impression that I was too much trouble since I wasn't going to accrue credit card debt.  It left me with a somewhat disappointed feeling-- quite different than when I left the initial consultation. I will never, ever, ever go to this place again. I should receive a refund for the money I spent. PAWS - don't bother responding to this post - the fluff letter you sent me was an obvious way to deflect negligence. Let's see, post op labs show my cat is in great condition... cat has surgery and vitals crash within the proceeding days, yet somehow it had nothing to do with the surgery? Sure. Then you proceed to insinuate that the third party veterinarian (30 years as a private practice veterinarian) who looked at the records (pre-mortem) may have been sub-par when they indicated that the surgery along with possible un-diagnosed renal disease, contributed to the cats early demise? Next step will be a complaint to the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board... Read Less

I recently moved here from San Francisco and was in search of a reputable vet here in Tucson for my English Lab puppy.  I emailed for an appointment and was called immediately the following morning by the receptionist.  She was very polite and addressed all my questions and  booked an appointment with the vet Dr. Justin Keaner. Upon entering the office had a very modern tranquil setting. Clean with a relaxing zen-type esthetic. Instantly felt comfortable and was greeted by the super friend staff/ client reps Rachel and Jessica. My puppy and I were brought into one of the exam rooms and met with the vet tech named Stephanie. The room was immaculately clean and she was very informative and helpful recording my puppy's data. Lastly, I the vet Dr. Justin Keaner met with us. He was very soft spoken and you could tell he loves animals. He evaluated my puppy and explained some of the virus/ diseases that I was unaware of in this locale. He showed me an option called a "puppy plan" whilst even thought my dog had her first series of shots they still saved me about $100. I didn't feel like I was being "up sold" because if they wanted to make more money would have a la carte the visit/ shots instead of offering the less expensive bundle. Great experience!  Highly recommend!!! Read Less

I will never, ever, ever go to this place again. My little dog just died in my arms after going through a procedure at this place. Aaronson talked me into the procedure saying it should be done to find out what was going on in my little dogs head. I was told it was going to be done about 10:30 a.m. but it didn't even start until 1:00 p.m. When I went to pick her up, the vet has an X-ray showing me that her little bone on her sweet nose had been eaten away and she had cancer. Then tells me to take her home and put these drops in her nose every hour to help her with her breathing. I had them send the records to my other vet and when she looked at them, she said that my little girl did not have cancer but had a tooth root that was all infected. The next morning I gave my little girl the nose drops and she went limp, just like she died. She came out of it but that afternoon she died in my arms. Her poor little heart just couldn't take it any more. After spending $3000 in this place and my baby girl dies two days later is disgusting to say the least. And not only that, it was the waiting for two weeks while she struggled breathing and all the things he had given me to give to her. I am just sick and want to throw up that this happened because I took her to this vet instead of staying with my regular vet. Because of my ignorance and trust in this veterinarian, my little girl is dead. This vet should return my money. Read Less

Love this place!! Customer service is top notch here and they truly care about your 4 legged family members. I brought Malachi my Bengal here to see Dr Thurston and she was very thorough and she spent a lot of time with him to try and address the problem. Dr Aronson was also very nice and he was the one that performed the teeth pulling operation on Malachi. The only concern I've had is with how soon they released Malachi after the operation because when I brought him home he was really tripping out cause he was so drugged up and he was seeing things and moving like he was on speed and I thought he was gonna have a heart attack. I was just really scared for him and felt like he would've been in better hands with them for longer monitoring. I'm in no way slamming them cause that may be common practice and this is the first procedure Malachi has had. But here is why I ended up loving this place even more. When I called them back about being concerned about his behavior I talked to a tech there named Elaine. She ended up giving me her personal # and stayed in touch with me every day sometimes couple times day thru text to check in on Malachi even on her own time away from work. She helped me so much and you just don't find customer service like that anywhere. Elaine and Paws are truly dedicated to your pets well being and will go that extra mile for them. This is a lovely practice.  The caring and knowledgeable staff do everything possible to minimize the  stress of vet visits for pets and  for their owners. There are two separate waiting areas, the lighting in the exam rooms is soft,  and the techs are always gentle and thorough. We moved to Tucson a little over a year ago and have made several visits to PAWS for our 13 year old poodle-shih-tzu mix. We have been especially impressed with Dr. Keaner, who has a lovely manner with our aging pooch, and who always has Rigby's best interest at heart.Dr. Keaner  doesn't "over-test,"  and he offers supplemental treatments like probiotics for digestive problems.Every charge is carefully explained and options for treatments are explored and weighed carefully. For example, we were given the option of testing our dog's vaccine levels instead of automatically re-vaccinating.  The cost of the test was the same as giving the 2 vaccines and it turned out that his levels were fine and we didn't need to do the shots this year. My wife and I have used PAWS now for several years to look after our collection of cats and dogs. My wife has worked in veterinary practices as an assistant and can attest to the quality of the operation and staff at PAWS. PAWS is always spotlessly clean, and wait times have never been a problem. On the occasion where there has been some urgency to our needs the staff at PAWS has always figured out a way for our animals to be seen quickly. In addition to their veterinary practice PAWS also takes part in community activities through veterinary related charities that it supports. I have had dogs off and on for most of my life and been to a great many veterinary practices over the years, and PAWS is one of the very best you will ever find! Read Less

PAWS is the nicest, cleanest, friendliest and most technologically/holistically advanced veterinary center i have ever been to. When they gave me the "new patient" tour i was mega impressed at how well thought out and advanced this center is not to mention they proudly display the previously off limits back rooms you are used to in vet centers. If you are like me and think of your animals as your children this place will make you breath a sigh of relief, the days of the tiny uncomfortable waiting room with dogs and cats stressfully wedged up against each other and hidden back rooms with the constant sounds of distress are so over! The waiting rooms (yes rooms, plural) are spaced out and comfortably decorated with plenty of places for nervous kitties to sit undisturbed and even an awesome outdoor waiting area for any anxious pups. All of the staff looks you in they eyes when they speak to you and they really seem to enjoy interacting with all the animals, things you would think would be standard at any Vet center. When my two new kittens needed a neuter and spay and I couldn't really afford to have them both done there (even though i think it would have been a much better experience for both me and my kitties), everyone was more than happy to refer me to other places they felt provided the best care and even informed me on which places used the best suture materials so my female wouldn't have permanent stitches in her belly. I was so amazed and thankful that the staff at PAWS put my needs and concerns above simply trying to sell me on their own superior services. I know that not everyone sees the value in a "designer" veterinary center like PAWS, but for the modern sensitive animal lovers out there you will be so glad that there is a place tailored made for people like you. I made my first appointment at PAWS because Dr. Randy is known for his holistic approach to veterinary. He didn't disappoint. He spent almost an hour with us the first visit going over every aspect of my dog, talking about her diet, exercise, vaccinations, etc. She had a comprehensive blood test to help him get a better picture of her health and a titer test to see if she really needed the vaccinations she was due for. As I suspected, she was fully immune from last year's vaccination and didn't need anything other than rabies since it is legally required. He is very good with the animals and Lucy feels very comfortable going there to see him. And so do I. Read Less

I had been bouncing around to various vets trying to find one I was comfortable with. Dr. Keaner has been amazing with my dog and 2 cats. On my most recent visit his staff called the day after the appointment to see how my kitty was doing and then Dr. Keaner called after 5 pm to review the results of her blood work in detail. A year ago he successfully treated my young dog for valley fever and at each prescription refill they changed to the least expensive pharmacy based on their current research. On top of it all, their office is centrally located, beautiful, with separate cat and dog waiting areas plus a nice outside patio, and every single one of their staff members is super nice.Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

There office is very nice too and I love the turtle pond out front. I drive about 45 min to get to Paws and it is worth it. I highly recommend Paws!!!Read Less

This is the best Vet Practice I have been to in over 20 years of living with dogs! Read Less

As a recent transplant to Tucson, I was concerned about finding a good vet for my Golden Retriever. PAWS did not disappoint. The facility is very nice, the staff is friendly and caring, and Dr. Aronson was able to diagnose - and suggest an easy fix for - my pup's worrisome throat problem. Now, if I could only find someone as competent and trustworthy for my own medical care! Read Less

I made an appointment with PAWS based on the reviews I read here and I'm so glad that I did. From the minute I walked in the door I could tell I was surrounded by people who really care about animals. It was my cats first vet visit and Dr Justin Keaner and all of the supporting technicians (Alexis, Sarah, and Jason) were so good with her; I was completely blown away. It was just a general checkup, getting her up to date on shots, etc. and throughout the whole process, they were able to keep her calm and comfortable. I will definitely be returning for all future vet visits. Read Less
