this is a very kind and caring group. they did everything they could to save my baby. he was about 17 and had numerous health issues but they gave it their all and when we knew the time had come to say goodbye they helped me through it every step of the way. brew is missed greatly but i am comforted knowing i did my best. i have two more cats and they are aging as well. one of the doctors suggested i get them in for a wellness check so i am going to do that asap. i know cats, just like humans all have a limited time here on earth but take it from me, prevention is indeed the best medicine.pet doctors keeps their prices affordable so i have no reason not to get my babies properly cared for. these docs truly do care and they never keep you waiting too long, either. awesome place! I very recently lost my Best Friend of 13 years, I miss her so much! In my "Precious" last days the Pet Clinic Staff and Doctors were so kind to my girl and I know she got the very best care possible and that was very comforting to me. I took my kitten to be spayed. I was eligible for the low cost surgery! Being retired and on a limited budget allowed me to take advantage of this great service. Everyone was pleasant and knowledgeable. Her doctor called me to check on how she was doing! Wow, such a good feeling to know he cared. My little girl is fully recovered and has had no problems! The vet I go to there seems pretty good and the vet tech I've dealt with was very nice. But the girls who work the front desk when you check in flat out suck. They do not acknowledge you when you walk in and in general just seem like shitty people. Also the waiting room is kind of like the DMV for dogs. It sucks. But the prices here are much better than most other vets in Tucson. In general, Vets in Tucson remind me of auto mechanics. Vets offices in San Diego were much better. Read Less

I am new to the area and my dog was due for his vaccinations. I read up on this clinic and saw nothing but great reviews which made it so much easier for me to bring my pet. I had called and asked how much shots were and a quote on neutering. I was told $12 for the shots then we had a convo about the neutering...I arrived at the clinic at about 8:20am, I asked how long the wait was and I was told 30-40 minutes. So I ran up the road to get some coffee, came back and had my daughter check to see if we were called. We weren't, from there we waited and waited. Now I have a boxer, that is still somewhat of a puppy (2 yrs) and he is VERY hyper. I expeceted to wait, especially since it's a low cost clinic. However, it was not 30 or 40 mins, it was more like an hour to hour and a half. Once we were called, we went in and had my dog weighed. He thinks its play time anytime he sees other dogs, literally he just wants to play. He was weighed then we went into the room they had us in. My dog is very sensitive, he is literally scarred from when we took him to have his nails cut as a puppy so he freaks out anytime anything is being checked. He wouldn't let the Vet Tech check his temperature, he literally growled and showed his teeth. I explained that he wouldn't bite, it was more of a back off type of thing. He didn't end up getting his temperature checked.. Which was fine, I understand it can be scary especially when a dog is growling.. I would have backed off too. She wrote down something in his chart and said she would be back with his shots and someone to help her. A few moments later, the vet comes in... alone. I was nervous, so he told me to hold my dog and he was going to inject him. After one injection, my dog flipped out. I was literally pinning my dog to the wall. I definitely wasn't expecting to do that and thought for sure someone such as a vet tech would come in and help. Needles to say, it was exhausting and I was super frustrated with my pet. Vet said they were getting me a quote on neutering and then I would be set to leave.Moments later, the first lady walks back in with a bottle and a paper with my quote. After opening the door she said hang on and started talking to someone else, she kinda went behind the door so we couldn't see/hear what she was asking but I'm hoping it wasn't anything bad about us. She went over everything, I asked if I could hand her my card to pay so I didnt have to deal with my dog whinning and trying to play with other dogs (and freaking other owners out) and she said if it was card then yes. I asked what my total was and she said $60- something... I said uhh what? She broke it down and said pills were $30- and shots are $36, I said I thought shots were $12? She then stated they were $12 each, which was fine and still cheaper then vets but I was under the impression it was $12 since each wasn't stated at all in my phone call. I didn't want the pills so just paid for the shots. The pills were basically to calm my dog before we went in again, now my only problem with that was... they just included it in my total and not ask if I wanted them. I think they should have brought it up first before giving it to me.. When I asked if I could get them next time if I wanted them she said she had to check, which didnt make sense cause I didn't ask for them to begin with.Overall, the clinic was clean and the staff was good. My visit would have been 100% good if my darn dog wasn't so hyper and aggressive. We will be back, and hopefully my dog won't be a maniac. Read Less

First off let me start this review by saying I've heard nothing but good things about this place. However they do not accept appointments which proves to be tricky on a Saturday. I came in and got on the list at 930am. I was told 45 minute wait. However after an hour and a half is still not seen. I walked out. The people who brought in their pets were technically emergencies however if my dog just came in for a vaccine you would think they would have a separate room and it works be quicker and more manageable hit it wasn't. Very hectic and it didn't seem like the staff cared. Not impressed at allUpdate. Thanks for reaching out to me. I understand the emergency situations and appreciate the email. We have been taking our dogs to Pet Doctor now for approximately 3-4 years. In that time we have seen this business grow immensely! We have always been very pleased with the care they give our pups, the cleanliness of the facility, and the prices they charge. They fill a huge gap in need here in Tucson for good, quality animal care/veterinary services for an affordable price, and because of that there is usually a significant wait for services (1+hours). I find it to be well worth it though. We have taken our dogs to this vet for SO MANY reasons. My maltese has had an incredible teeth-cleaning there, we have had our pit mix spayed there, when our beagle started having ailments in his old age we were bringing him in constantly to try to find out what was wrong, and I felt Pet Doctor was very thorough in searching for the cause of his sickness. Dr. Nelson has always handled our dogs with such tenderness and care, and his knowledge is so evident. Currently, our pit mix needs knee surgery and I'm not even nervous about it because Dr. Farrell has prepared me so well for what to expect as far as how the procedure will go and what my dog's recovery time will be. I just know she will be in excellent hands. Although proper vet care can be expensive at times (this surgery will cost us a pretty penny) I know that what they are charging me at Pet Doctor is probably a fraction of what I would be charged for the same services elsewhere. I highly recommend bringing your animals in to Pet Doctor. They are a great asset to our furry Tucson friends!TIP: * Surgery drop-off is weekdays from 7-8am, however their walk-in times are from 8am-Noon and 2-6pm. If you are coming for a walk in appointment, get there around 7:30am OR 1:30pm to be called in right when they open for appointments. Your wait time will be significantly decreased. Read Less

The veterinarian was awesome !! Very thorough with examination of my Cocobear, happy to go over findings and lab results. We were in Tucson for 2 nights when our most loved chihuahua mix, Duke, became ill. I checked Yelp for a local vet who might see us on an urgent basis. This vet sees patients on a walk in basis and is associated with pet rescues so we went there. We arrived before clinic hours but they were open receiving clients with surgery appointments. They agreed to treat Duke so we waited. Unfortunately he took a turn for the worse while we were in the exam room. The vet techs, Alana & Marylin, were awesome as was Dr. Nelson.  They were respectful, kind and efficient. I've been taking my own pets and all of my fosters to Pet Dr for about 3 years now. The staff is fantastic, the hours are helpful, the prices are affordable and their expansion is beautiful. Having a walk in clinic with cheap treatments and low cost vaccines is so awesome, especially with all the fosters I end up keeping under my roof. My second time there. It's far from my house, but since I had such a positive experience the first time, we returned. This time it was even better. Minimal wait. Very organized and Dr. Waters is top-notch. She had my dog diagnosed with minimal fanfare. He was actually his normal happy self as he walked around. Felt no fear of his surroundings. I loved the whole atmosphere, I called 5 people before I called PetDoctor to set up an appointment for my dog!! I did not choose those 5 places because they were rude, didn't show they wanted to help and all about money! But when I talked to a young lady yesterday on the phone, she was so nice, helped me and I felt so comfortable to take my dog in!! When I showed up that afternoon the staff was just so wonderful with my baby girl, everyone was so nice. The nurse who took care of us and Dr. Showed they truly cared!! I have loved Pet Dr since the very first time I was directed to take a foster dog there and I have taken a few fosters and personal dogs there since for routine care as well as having a senior hospice foster sent to the rainbow bridge when her time came. I have referred many people there when they had a need arise and have also heard great feedback from all of them. Today was my first experience bringing my dog in with an urgent need, and as usual the staff was all wonderful. They went way above and beyond what any other vets office would have done to ensure that my 13 year old dog could get all of the care she needed today. We of course will continue to use pet Dr and will definitely continue to refer people. Very very grateful for them and that they were open today on Saturday. All the staff is support awesome and very supportive. We took our chihuahua in to get fixed at a different clinic. Imagine my surprise when we were told she was extremely dehydrated, and they could not help us we needed to see a full care facility. All I can think is we can't afford it. Called the pet Dr. Went in and they helped us get fluids in her showed us how and have is what we needed. At a very affordable price. We are very low income, nobody judges nobody, our little girl is doing great and about ready to be spay! Read Less

I loved this place I was so nervous as I didn't know what was happening with my cat. The doctor and vet techs were so nice and comforting. A couple days before Christmas last year I had to put my cat down due to cancer. Financially we had problems and I promised to pay everything back to animal rescue league and did. They made the difference. I forgot to grab the cat carrier I was so saddened I forgot to go get it. I went back a couple seconds later saw the doctor nelson wrapped my cat in a blanket carrying him out like a baby. I was so touched. I'm still to this day grateful. Thank you so much Read Less

I took my 5 year old Lab here to be checked out because she was lethargic on a Thursday. After running test they believed it could be valley fever. They did the valley fever test on a Friday and told me they give me a call Monday. After not hearing anything on Monday I called. The receptionist told me my result were in but because she wasn't a vet, she couldn't tell me what they said. The vet I spoke with Dr. Waters wasn't in today so she would call me on Tuesday. I did ask if another vet could call but no one did. I waited Tuesday and didn't receive a phone call. On Tuesday afternoon I was told Dr Waters was in surgery and shed give me a call. At 4pm I drove down there to speak with the vet who still hadn't returned my call. Dr. Waters had left for the day still without calling. I spoke to another vet who said it's not Valley Fever, to try this $30 antibiotic and that Dr. Waters would call me Wednesday to to followup. This was three weeks ago and I have never heard back from her or this office. The antibiotics seem to work but I spent five days thinking my dog had valley fever or worse because of how dire the vet made me think it was to deserve $400 worth of test. Dr. Waters couldn't give me the decency of a phone call or follow up. I am so thankful that whatever was going on with Winnie has cleared up. While the staff is friendly, this experience has made me seek a new vet office.Read Less

We transferred our dogs care from Twin Peaks animal hospital to Pet doctor recently. We are very happy we did so they truly care about your animal and your own personal needs. After 3 visits with them we found out our beloved mastiff had a massive tumor and cancer throughout her... we unfortunately had to put her to sleep. Even with that being an excruciating decision all of the staff made it a very peaceful and as "good" of an experience as it could have been. When we picked up her ashes they were very sweet and gentle. When I got home we had a very sweet card from them and they included her paw print stamped on a card with a little bit of her hair. So first let me say having worked in the veterinary field for over 17 years I am pretty picky about where I take my animals. All the staff upon check in was very friendly and the office very clean and kept. The first day I eent in for just shots and surgery consult meet a very nice new doctor and a tech who wasn't the best. I scheduled my pets for surgery a couple days later feeling comfortable with knowing they cared the drugs I like to use and where willing to use them. I should also mention that a different doctor was doing the surgery because the new one was not yet on the schedule which I was ok with since they agreed to what was previously talked about. Come the day of surgery we where a little late for check in (I live an hour away from this clinic) due to some accidents but I called ahead to let them know and the receptionist said it would be fine. We go to check in this technician was a lot better and more knowledgeable than the last I went over everything I wanted to double check with the previous appt she went back and talked to the doctor and said yes that is how we do it, so I signed the consent forms was guaranteed that someone wiuld call me and let me know how they where doing so I left my 2 babies in their care. Well I never received a call finally close yo closing I called to check on them, the tech was rude and said yes they where fine and they where getting ready to close and for me to call in the morning to see when I could come get them (remember it's an hour drive each way with traffic). So I called in the morning and was told I could come get them they where ready to come home. When I get there I waited 30 minutes until they finally came out only to find out that everything I requested and signed a consent form for wasn't done. You can say I was a little mad and when asked why was told that the doctor changed their mind and decided to use something else. This never should have happened I will also report this to the board. I never received a phone call or consented to change in treatment had i known this would happen i would have taken my animals somewhere else. So all in all great place for vaccinations otherwise I would go somewhere else. I will also say that the doctor that performed the surgery never once contacted me in any way, I also never saw them at any point.Read Less

Amazing staff. This vet office is the only place we could find that helped us out with our cat when we had an emergency. They knew we had very little money, yet they told us to come in the same day, and we worked everything out. Our cat was treated and healed quickly and fully. This clinic is for sure all about the money and not the care of the animal. I picked up my dog yesterday after getting her spayed. She had blood all on her stomach and poop all on her behind. I do not understand how after a surgery they don't wipe the area clean. They also didn't give clear discharge instruction with the pain medicine. I called the next day to ask them was it protocol that my dog was returned in my care with blood on her and poop. They said no. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone my dog is like my child and I expect better care from a professional. Read Less

We were turned on to the Pet Doctor through Smiling Dog Rescue where we adopted our two newest family members. Gemma was throwing up for a few days and it scared us- freshly losing a dog with similar symptoms and 3 trips to dif vet. It was late after work and they waited for us and never made us feel rushed. And showed such great compassion and understanding when we got there, and our once sluggish sick dog was now bouncing around like a silly ball. Turns out a long car ride with us seemed to cure her. I brought my cat, Pogo, to Pet Doctor on a Saturday, because my usual vet office wasn't open on Saturdays. It turned out that he was sicker than I thought and I had to have him euthanized the next day. The prices were very good and Doctor Bunge did a thorough examination and was sweet to my Pogo. She showed me the x-ray and explained the results. She even called me the next day to see how he was doing, but it wasn't good. He had cancer and had to be put to sleep. I received a very nice condolence card from Pet Doctor a couple days later with a beautiful message and flower seeds in the shape of a heart. I absolutely LOVE Pet Doctor! I recommend them to all my friends who have pets and anyone who is looking for quality care. While they provide low cost, their service is outstanding. They're always looking out for your fur babies, and work with outside sources to help provide services for low budget incomes. I have 2 puppies that I won't take anywhere else! I've had pets in the past that I've taken elsewhere, only to come across rude staff and unhelpful advice. I don't get that here! They treat everyone with respect, work to find the best treatment plan and are always happy to see your pet when you walk through that door. Out of 10 stars, I give them a solid 11! Anyone who has given them fewer than 5 stars are just people who expected free services for their pets and are upset. This is a business, and you can't expect a business to flourish if they did everything for free. They do everything they can in the best interest of your pet and it's your duty to be responsible and care for them. Cheaper than other places places in Tucson. It is sad they will let a pet die if you don't have the funds. Luckily for me I found a vet in Nogales, Sonora who picked up my dog in Rio Rico and performed surgery on him at 1/5 of the price. My dog is now healthy and happy as ever. By the way this vet in Mexico gave me more information about what was wrong with my dog in 2 minutes free of charge , than this place with 2 days and 450 dollars.Read Less
