Vca Valley Animal Hospital And Emergency Center

Tucson, Arizona
General Info
VCA Valley Animal Hospital and Emergency Center in Tucson interprets pet behavior as a language communicated through tail position stillness sound and pacing for homes across Arizona. Examination processes initiate through focused observation instead of tactile interaction. Staff members observe intricate micro-behaviors such as the animal's eye contact patterns breathing responses to vocal stimuli and movements toward or away from motion. Care then unfolds in parts. The examination of a pet's skin, coat, and joints relies on its anchoring movements as well as how it leans or stiffens. The appearance of trust signals initiates subsequent internal examinations which include teeth checks abdominal scans and heart rhythm assessments. Pet owners offer contextual information by detailing shifts in daily patterns along with new auditory stimuli their pets respond to and changes in walking or feeding schedules. VCA Valley Animal Hospital and Emergency Center provides services ranging from early-life exams and diagnostics to energy balance strategies oral health planning age-related joint tracking and illness-specific mapping. Behavioral patterns dictate temporal variations. Numerous appointments progress rapidly where consent indicators appear distinctly. Some processes unfold gradually across distinct phases which allows the animal to understand each step. Pets requiring recalibration before proceeding can access quiet areas and pause zones. The emphasis of post-visit care pertains to household translation. Examine sleep patterns while determining routine reintroduction methods and identifying silent cues such as familial withdrawal combined with appetite loss and spatial guarding behaviors. The guidance for owners suggests they monitor timing alongside symptoms instead of focusing solely on symptoms. At what time does restlessness appear? During which daily interval do hesitation frequencies reach their maximum? VCA Valley Animal Hospital and Emergency Center provides guidance to Tucson families and those in nearby Arizona regions by recognizing pet behavior as a living signal which animals communicate through everyday pauses and nudges rather than crisis situations.

I got here at about 410pm Sunday June 3rd 2018. I drove from Sierra Vista to this location based on reviews. They weren't the best reviews but I'm glad I went here. My 8 month old German Shepard had been vomiting for 2-3days and was severly dehydrated. She wasn't doing well at all and every method to help her get better at home was unsuccessful. I believed she had gotten food poisoning from her new bag of dog food (same brand and style I've always given her, but a brand new bag I had purchased). I wanted to make sure she didn't have a blockage or anything else though and she definitely needed emergency care to address her dehydration and inability to hold anything down. She was very lethargic, stiff and hardly had the energy to stand up. I did call ahead to let them know I was bringing her in. Upon arriving it was 106° outside and pretty warm inside the clinic. I think they might be having problems with the A/C. I was immediately brought back into a room and waited about an hour before seeing the vet who saw us as soon as she clocked in (shift switch). Which they did let us know beforehand that we were waiting for this vet to come in, as the one currently on shift was in surgery. We had labs drawn (high BUN but good kidney levels), an x ray (no signs of blockage but gas and an obviously empty stomach). We were given the option to have her injected with meds and fluids under her skin or to leave her there over night with medication and IV fluids, with a follow up x ray. I chose to bring her home for the night to possibly save $1,000 and bring her back if she didn't improve. Once getting home my pup wasn't feeling the best still, especially with her camel hump of water, that had been injected above her shoulder. The next morning she was feeling much better! It's been 2 days now and she's holding everything down, has had 4 bowel movements and is enjoying her bland diet. Her energy has almost fully returned as well. I think the staff was thorough, they listened to my concerns (I also had reasonable expectations when coming in) very friendly and professional. $735.34 (after a military discount) later my German Shepard is doing much better. Picture provided is of an estimate for her to stay over night, just so you can see an idea of how much they charge per thing. Read Less

If I could I would give this place 0 stars.. or negative stars for that matter. They DO NOT care about your pets. All they care about is what's in your wallet. Unfriendly, un unified staff that are not all up to date on house policies. I was quoted a certain amount that quadrupled in a matter of hours (without any sort of consent with treatment) and after stating that I couldn't afford the new amount they actually threatened to hold my dog hostage AND charge me an overnight fee. If you are in an emergency situation, you will want to take your dog or cat somewhere else. Animals are treated entirely at the convenience of the staff even though it is supposedly an emergency clinic. You may well sit in the waiting room for an hour or more before anyone even looks at your pet. Everything here is disorganized and haphazard. My shih tzu Sophia was treated so well by the staff and vets at VCA. She was hospitalized for 2 1/2 days. We visited her at different hours day and night. They were accommodating each time. They work extremely hard and it was evident in the back area where we had to pass by as well as with my dog of course. They answered all of my questions, which were a lot, patiently. Sophia was treated wonderfully. They answer their phones every single time you call without really putting you on hold. I was a very concerned owner due to Sophia's condition, I would know. You get what you pay for right? It is a well known corporate emergency hospital for animals. They are held at high standards as a corporate. Thank you so much for making her feel better and comforting me throughout this ordeal. I want to thank all the staff and vets that helped Sophia. I took in two dogs with parvo....they said they would have a 95% chance of recovery with treatment. One died and the other is still not back to normal. I told them she was up to date on all of her shots but they still insisted on a parvo shot!?! As soon as she received that shot she threw up and became VERY ill.....worse than she was when I brought her in and she almost died too. You do NOT compromise a dog's system when the dog is already sick!!! How stupid are these vets or did they just want to make more money? I paid $8,800 - very expensive. Be prepared for a very long wait time too - we sat for two hours before our dogs could be seen....... Read Less

This place had a very kind nurse and doctor during emergency hours that quickly assessed my dog and told me she was stable enough to wait for our morning appointment (since fees during regular business hours are not doubled as they are during emergency hours). When we came back at 8 AM for that appointment, however, it was a completely different hospital--loud, chaotic, with a staff that kept telling me we were next (but we were never next...we waited 90 minutes before finally leaving without being seen). I would say go here during regular business hours if your dog or cat is fine with long wait times in a very loud place and you don't have a job to get to. If, however, you have a pet who is reactive to people and other animals, as I do, and you cannot simply take hours off at a time from work, this is not the place for you. They book way more appointments than they have space for, and that's not fair to customers or pets. Read Less

But no one has contacted me nor do I know his condition. Why was a backup vet not called in if the clinic was busy? This facility is advertised as an emergency hospital. Once my recommended vet for Avian matters. Recent changes (sale to VCA) have made that difficult to continue. They billed me two separate charges for my visit, one an "avian er visit" the other an "exotic er visit" seems the new corporate owners are money grabbing. Also had an issue with integrity when being asked for a deposit had to tell them I'd bring it in after the banks opened. I inquired whether the delay in payment would be an issue delaying treatment. I was assured it would not. I could have easily arranged immediate payment by inconveniencing any number of friends. When I returned later (four hours) with the full amount as agreed I was informed by the surgeon that the delay in payment had in fact caused them not to perform the surgery. I was informed they don't like to say that they will not perform treatment so they chose to lye to me. Bird laid there wound severely while they offered minimal care until paid. Integrity is important to me, if it is to you also find another vet. Read Less

A special thank you to, Kate, Allan, Ross, Dr. Sarah, and Dr. Emily. Read Less

I wish there was a zero star button. Horrible service. Brought my baby in because he was behaving abnormally. I was told there was nothing wrong with him after he was observed for a short time. When my pet can't run normally there's not nothing wrong with him. The tech I got at the front couldn't even remember that my boy was a he and kept calling him a her. They wanted to charge me almost $100 for a check up with someone who thinks there's nothing wrong with a sick pet. I won't be going back if I can avoid it. Making an appointment elsewhere for my boy to get looked at. Read Less

Read Less

We had an emergency situation last night 02/03/17, we had a terminally ill 15 year old cat, that needed to be assisted crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Very compassionate care given by all at this clinic. I am so very thankful that they were there to assist our Libby in her passing. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who is in need of care either emergency or non life threatening issues for their loved family members. Once again, thank you for being there when the Frey family and Libby needed you. Read Less

My 11 year old chihuahua was dropped off 11am on Christmas. It is now 7 hrs later and no contact from the vet on duty. After calling hourly to check on his status he was finally treated. But no one has contacted me nor do I know his condition. Why was a backup vet not called in if the clinic was busy? This facility is advertised as an emergency hospital. I am so upset and disappointed. I would have taken him elsewhere. I can't believe an animal hospital would keep a wounded senior pet wait all day for treatment. Read Less

I love the staff and everyone at valley hospital. Took my cat tubs last night because of unstable situations. I felt relieved that tubs was able to get better in their hands (considering he is an old 20 pound cat) he had a fever and with Kim. R Damon, he was able to get better. Yes it is kind of pricey but they provide several payment options! I have two other cats at home, I will definitely consider valley whenever anything might happen. Also I didn't even book an appointment I basically appeared at their doorstep and still took good care of my tubby. Read Less

Read Less
