Prices have gone up about 40% (with no notice), so they no longer have reasonable pricing, plus their vet knowledge has deminished.Plus I feel like I'm at a used car lot now. I've taken my dog Lucky to Pleasant Valley twice, and both times the care was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and nice. The first visit was when I first adopted Lucky from a shelter. The vet was very nice and answered all my questions. Then last week I had an emergency with Lucky. I called the clinic in a panic, then rushed right over. Yesterday I had to bring my dog Tanner in as he was sick but I didn't know how sick. I wondered if it might be time for him to leave this world but wasn't sure. Dr Brent Koonce helped me make the decision that it was time for Tanner to go. I don't know if I knew for sure that it was. And had I known Tanner was so sick I would have brought him in earlier and so regret I didn't. I just couldn't put Tanner through all that he would have to go through knowing it would probably be a short time before he would have to leave me. Dr. Brent and Dr Allison Koonce gave Tanner and me such love and compassion that I will remember forever . I thank you from the bottom of my heart and Tanners heart for guiding him through this older age where his health wasn't good. Had you not I wouldn't have had Tanner as long as I did. Our house will never be the same without Tanner in it but again thank you for taking such good care of Tanner and me. You have a place in my heart forever. Dr. Koonce diagnosed a fairly rare condition with my dog that was missed by another clinic and turned what seemed like a deteriorating situation into giving my dog a new lease on life. Incredible staff and service. I have used this vet for my dogs (even Guinea pigs) for over 20 years and I have nothing but praise for them. When my 12 year old lab was diagnosed with cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) his overall outlook was not good. Other vets told me there was nothing they would/could do. Dr. Koonce administered the best treatment possible and he lived 4 times past the life expectancy for that particular cancer. Also exceeded the odds of what his everyday health would be. With my small dog and a new lab puppy, they continue to provide excellent care and service for them. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to make my dogs feel welcome and safe. As far as price, it is relatively the same as what friends have told me they pay in vet bills. In some ways, less costly and more service. I highly recommend this clinic. You will not regret it. This is a good clinic and smells clean but there is no heavy disinfectant scent masking a lazy staff. They are not secretly afraid of big dogs, I have a Great Dane who is not as fond of men as women and the doctor made friends almost immediately. This was the calmest My dog has ever been during a vet visit. We will be loyal customers. Plus they called to make sure she was handling the medication well and to give an update on blood work. Dr. Brent Koonce is one of the most knowledgeable veterinarians in Little Rock. I have a medical degree and he knows medicine. In addition he is very compassionate. My elderly dog was to cross the rainbow bridge and I have never had a kinder gesture by a veterinarian than by him during her passing. I can't say enough positive things about him and Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic.  In addition to being one of the most intelligent veterinarians and one of the most compassionate veterinarians they are very reasonably priced.  The staff are great too! I cannot recommend this place. I used to go here when Dr. Hamilton ran the business. I liked him, he wasn't chatty but he didn't try to guilt trip you into a 700 vet bill, either. Two other doctors (a married couple) took over the practice. I have multiple pets, of which a majority went to this vet location. On one of my first visits visit, she was giving a vaccination that she poked through the rear leg cat's skin flap and it wasn't going inside but just down on the table. Now, that might be a common mistake and I wasn't overly concerned - though I have not seen that happen before. They did re-administer another shot correctly.But HE is the reason I will never go back here. I had an appointment for two cats in October of 2014 and while there inquired about a transdermal medication for one of those cats with a behavioral issue. I guess this guy was having a bad day because he pretty much launched into a lecture about how many cats I had, that this medication wasn't effective (though I know 3 people who had success with it), telling me the medication was pricey, and the whole time he is taking the two cats I brought in and jabbing them with needles and then putting them back into their carriers with very little, if any, "check up" going on. He then ended it with saying "I'll look into it" and flung the door open, indicating my ass needed to get out. Don't get me wrong, if he had issues with this medication and explained his reservations in a calm, reasonable voice - I would have understood regardless if I agreed or not. It's not like I am jumping up & down to have to go buy medications for one of my cats. It's the last thing I want to do, but I did want to at least TRY IT. And this was a last resort! I had tried many other methods with no success, which I told him that. I have NEVER had an altercation with a Veterinarian. I have NEVER had a Veterinarian speak to me the way he did. I've had some I didn't go back to because they were for clients with more money, but I've never left an office stunned, upset & mad and felt like my animals had been mishandled. To top that whole event off, no one ever called to tell me about the medications or what it would costs but I knew when I left the office that no one was going to call. I had been dismissed as a client, I have no doubt.At that time, I had a dog and four cats going to this vet (the others go to a different vet) and brought them all in for an annual visit every year and had been doing so for 10-13 years. I also kenneled my dog here several times. So, I didn't just show up out of the blue and ask about this medication, I was an established client seeking some alternatives to a problem. He interrupted and implied I was a horrible person for questioning his orders. He couldn't wait to get out of the room. My appointment was less than 5 minutes long! My family has been taking our dogs here for years. They have always been friendly, kind, helpful. Dr. Hamilton (who is no longer there) cares so much for the animals. While he was not much of a people person I knew our dogs were in great hands. The new vets have actually only been better. They love the animas AND are people persons. the only downside to this place is they use to trim your pets nails for free if you were a client. Now they charge. its still cheaper than the standard groomer, but it was sad to see that nice perk go away. Otherwise, I would recommend this place to anyone. A long time ago I had written a scathing review of this clinic which I'm VERY VERY SORRY FOR. The receptionist was not nice and very rude to us. But she agreed to let us talk to Dr. Koonce he could not have been nicer. He took wonderful care of my Golden Retriever. He was very kind, thoughtful and gentle with our our beloved dog. I was 100 percent wrong about this clinic. The doctors there are very good.if you can get past the rude receptionist. (after much pleading she finally let us talk to him). I have been at Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic for 12 years and my poodles received the best care whether Dr. Hamilton or with the new Vets. Dr. Allison or Brent Knooce. Their staff have always been pleasant and accommodating. The kindness and professionalism I received when both of my toy poodles lost their lives in the same week in Jan 2014 (one I put down because of heart disease and one died from complications to diabetes) showed they cared about my poodles and myself. Both Dr's kept in close communication while my poodles went through the process of leaving this world. They allowed me to use a room to hold my first poodle and to say goodbye and the other one died in the night. I wanted to publically thank them and the staff. Absolutely not. I took my cat there for ear mites and had a fine enough experience. Though the vet isn't the warmest, he was incredibly fast and the price was fantastic. For my latest adventure, I was told I would receive a reminder phone call for my appointment. This did not happen I was late. I was very apologetic about being ridiculously late (totally my fault) but there was absolutely no excuse for how the receptionist and other two staff members at the front treated me. They were just flat out rude, unprofessional and condescending and there is no way I am going to frequent a place that treats customers this way. Am now going to Bellevue and they are spectacular. I found this vet by reading reviews and thought I would give them a try. I was not disappointed at all! The staff are great with people, and the vet is wonderful with my dog. The prices are amazing compared to all the other vets. I was pretty sure my small female dog had a UTI, and I called the vet. They told me to bring her in as soon as I could. I immediately took her to the vet, and I waited maybe 2 minutes. The vet prescribed some antibiotics. I was thinking it was going to be around $40-$90 bucks for the visit and medicine. It was no where near that amount. I'm very happy with Dr. Hamilton and the staff members. Read Less

I had been taking my cats to a Maumelle animal clinic, when a friend told me I was overpaying for vet services. Two different people highly recommended Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic for their lower prices and great service. I called and got an appointment only two days away. When I arrived I was quickly greeted, and immediately saw the vet who answered my concerns. Before I went to my appointment, my friend told me that the vet is great, but is more of a pet person than a people person. Be prepared for him to be more focused on the pet than the pet's owner. That was fine with me. As long as he loves my cats, I can do without any chitchat. (Also, the cost of getting cats spayed at this Clinic was HALF of what the Maumelle Clinic was going to charge me.) WORST OFFICE IN LITTLE ROCK;After my wife had an issue ording some pet meds for our bulldog she called the office to see what the problem was. the staff member told her that the dog would have to come in for another test or they could just sell them there meds at a higher cost instead. I took the phone from my wife to try and figure out what the problem was, since our bulldog has been going there for 8 years and i had an appointment in 4 days for a new puppy also at the same clinic. the staff memember named drew began to inform me that they could not even find our pets medical records, we have a total of 3 pets seen by them, when I became upset of the idea of them losing our records let alone trying to force us to buy there meds at a hire price he began to act really rude and tough on the phone, threating to ban us from there. I informed him maybe i should just speak to dr hamilton myself about the issue when i came in for the appointment. he told me to not to worry about it seeing how he just canceled the appointment, i then informed him i would be up there in 5 minutes to speak to him face to face to see if he would like to continue to act tough over the phone and threating me for there mistakes. Upon arrival i saw dr hamilton who withdrew himself from the conversastion and said my appointment will be still be seen but if i speak to his staff like that he will not treat my pets, as i tried to respond, he turned and ran away from the conversastion. Drew, who had obviously been crying tried to explain, pass the blame, and threaten me again with baning us, but this time he did it in a polite manner, i asked him what happened to the tough guy i talked to on the phone. 30 min later he called my wife to inform her he found our medical records, i called back and informed him to cancel my appointment. All my pets will be seen at different vet whos staff actually knows how to conduct themselves and by a vet who can actually treat animals other than just give injections and overlook treatment of pets due to a lack of keeping up with his current skills. any problem we ever had with our pets he had us take them some where else, it just goes to show, you really get what you pay for, and every one is a tough guy on the phone till a veteran comes to talk to you face to face, respect should be earned not expected. if you love your pets dont go here Read Less

Pleasant Valley has been my family vet for 30 years but when I got my own dog I ventured out to a few others (Bellevue, Hillcrest). I'm back and so happy! They are not after your money, the docs are old school and believe in trying out a few things before running blood work and surgery and other expensive treatments. Pleasant Valley suggested a food change (at Premium Pets) and a combination of special shampoos with allergy shots and we are home free. Bellevue and Hillcrest had my dogs running thyroid and blood tests and lab work to solve the problem and it got VERY expensive. I never left without spending over $150 (70 just for the appt.) After all that, they wanted me to force expensive Rx pills down their throats twice a day which I would do if it were cancer or something severe. This was skin allergies. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars over 3/4 years at Bellevue and Pleasant Valley fixed in after one quick visit. Read Less

I took my baby in after a dog attack, she was pregnant and due in a week! They just looked at her and put her in a cage! I absolutely have lost any trust in any vet because of this vet's negligence. They claimed they were going to stitch up a superficial bite wound, you aren't supposed to stitch anything from a dog bite!!! IT WILL GET INFECTED! I told them to do everything they could to save my baby, and if there was no chance of her making it to at least save the pups, that way I would have some memory of the best dog I've ever had. She was a show dachshund, bred to a champion. I just knew it was a bad idea to leave her there. They did NOTHING to save my girl or her unborn pups! NOTHING! They're cheap for a reason people, I definitely do NOT recommend them, unless you just want to go there to buy flea meds or something. But do NOT take your babies to this clinic!!!! Read Less

Overall, this is a good vet clinic. It is cheap. The vet doesn't talk much, but he doesn't always need to be chatty. However, make certain you confirm your appointments. We waited a month to get in at this clinic and then showed up and they did not have our appointment down. Not only that, but the man at the front desk (Todd), blamed it entirely on us. They were able to get us in that next week, but were not at all apologetic or even very polite about it. Bottom line: Call the day ahead to confirm your appointment, or just go somewhere else!
