Today was our first time using Providence and we will be using them in the future. We have a local vet we use and providence is 40 miles from our home however we heard about them through a friend and we called to check about an oral surgery for our dog, like most people cost isn't the top priority with our pets but it's on up there on the list lol. Providence was significantly more cost friendly when we called and their estimate held pretty true. The 80 miles round trip was definitely made up in cost and great service on top of that. Let's start this by saying I love this clinic! A very dear friend works here and I absolutely love the way Dr Nelson treats my animals! He is always there when he's on call and when we go in the clinic! Sadly today my GSD had an injury... he was spewing blood from his leg and if it wasn't for my friend, I would have taken him elsewhere but she came down as soon as we called! Moral of the story, I called the emergency line and waited for over 40 minutes to be contacted only to find out the vet on call was hosting a baby shower and could not see my dog until 4pm... whatever stabbed, shot, or punctured him hit an artery and that caused the spewing of the blood... I stayed calm when the vet finally called and even the second time because I wasn't to sure if I'd have to take him in or not so I wanted to make sure not to make the person who would be potentially caring for my dog mad.... sadly I am waiting for Dr Nelson to be back in office before I take him in(since it is no longer life threatening like it was earlier and the bleeding stopped) because Dr Mitchell couldn't be bothered while at the shower she was hosting. I also stated I would be taking him to the emergency clinic in Little Rock and she told me no, do not do that, just put pressure on it and get it to stop, I can see him after 4pm... this was at around 1120 when I got a call back, the accident happened at 730 am, I wrapped him and got it under control and then as I was changing the bandage(around 1015-1020), I squeezed to apply more pressure and busted the vein back open so I knew I needed help at that point but I was trying to avoid an emergency call because I know vets have a personal life also. I called between 10-25-1030. I would never call over nothing or something I could make wait until the next day. Sadly I needed a vet and ended up having the wonderful vet asst. come out and help me apply pressure and bandage my baby boy up. I am giving a one star because I am very angry that a shower was more important than an animals life... you could have had the shower on a weekend you were not on call because you know when your on call weeks before hand. But thank you, I know now not to ever leave my animals in your hands. I will strictly be doing business with Dr Nelson. I adore him and I know he will properly care for my animals!Read Less

Very caring and professional. Sent my dog in with parvo, and they did all they could to treat her. Parvo is very deadly and she didn't make it but staff took great care of her and made her comfortable. When I went to pick her up they put her in a burial box and made a clay mold of her paw print to remember her. Highly recommend this veterinarian. Read Less

They saved both of my girls when they were deathly Ill. I almost lost my german shepherd, and took her there due to the extra hour it would take going to sheridan. I really didn't think she would make it, they took care of her sister the mouth of the south half pyranese half anatolian shepherd and saved them both. Completely untrustworthy and incompetent. Hospitalised my dog overnight, sent him home without finding the problem or even stabilising him. He only went there because the good vet was too far away for a very sick dog to comfortably travel, well thanks to them my dog is dead. His problem was easily diagnosable from the symptoms and test results, and could have been treated, but no one wanted to have to deal with him over the weekend so they sent him home without bothering. Why actually provide medical care, when you can get $550 dollars for nothing? I'm so heartbroken. This was a complete and total mistake to ever take my dog to this vet, and since they've treated other pets of ours in the past we now wonder if they had to die, either. Don't take your pets here if you actually want them to be diagnosed and survive. May as well just set fire to a pile of money and shoot your pet yourself. At least that way maybe these wastes of oxygen can have the decency to go out of business. Since that's clearly all it is to them, a business, and quite a lucrative one, too. I'm not sure if the doctors are incompetent or just greedy we had our lab in there twice spent over 1300.00 and they still couldn't tell us what was wrong with him. They suggested we put in a feeding tube to make sure he gets nutrients until they could figure it out. went to the vet in Hot Springs in less than 3 minutes she knew what was wrong with him.now he is back normal. We will not go back there. I guess they are ok for shots but if your pet is really sick I suggest you go somewhere else. Dr kelly in hot springs is great. I believe she saved my dogs life and didn't put him throughl unnecessary test. Read Less

We are from out of state and my dog was injured @ the lake. We called the emergency number after hours and were given quick, excellent ,caring instructions. We took our westie in and it was determined she needed to be sedated and stitched. Every member of the staff and both doctors, I was in contact with, were wonderful!
