It was a very traumatic time for us and our boy! They went above and beyond for us! I saw in another review they're in it for the money? Well I can tell you that the surgery for our boy was quoted at another local vet for almost double what they charged and he got the best care! I live very close so this place was convenient. I needed to get my dogs immunizations updated so I could get her groomed. Just a simple immunization. They recommended that she all get a kennel cough immunization, and trusting they know what they are talking about, I agreed. Within 4 days, my dog came down with a horrible case of kennel cough. She has never had it or been sick a day in her life. I had to take my dog to another vet because they were not open on Sunday when she was really sick, so I did and got her some meds. They told me it could be a reaction to the medication.I called Acton Vet clinic to discuss it with the doctor, hoping he would tell me how to help make it easier on my dog since she is REALLY sick, and potentially reimburse me for my cost for the other vet. And also to look at the possibility that their immunization is making dogs very sick. (everything I have read on the internet from other vets says do not get this, it does not work). I have requested a call from him 5 times and he refuses to return my callz and said if I come, in he will charge me full price for another visit. This is the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had with a business. And the place is very dirty. No wonder she got sick.Do not use this vet!!! Read Less

All of my dogs get taken here, ever since I was a kid. They always been great to us and our dogs. Good service, prices a little steep but most vets seem to be these days. They have great personal as well. The young woman that works kind of everywhere in there is amazing, very nice and helpful. Honestly you can ask any of the employees anything and they can help or will get someone who will. Even if you need directions to another vet, seriously. But this is where I've always taken my dogs and it's where I always will. Read Less

Don't go to this event only interested in money. Wouldn't give me Rimadyl without another $50 inspection even though my dog was in one week prior for full bloodwork and full examination which she passed with flying colors. Go to any other vet. Read Less

What a great place! My husband and I are visiting the area with our dog, who sadly got injured out on a hike. Acton Veterinary Clinic saw him straight away, the receptionist was kind and thoughtful dealing with the appointment and paperwork. Dr. Loken made a thorough examination of my dog, he was extremely knowledgeable, gentle with my dog and approached the treatment plan with no bullsh*t or attempts at selling me anything unnecessary. The final bill was fair and I thought very reasonable. Warning~my cat died as a result of Loken failing not only to realize my cat was having a reaction from annual vaccinations but also for failing to take appropriate action. Calls to his office within a very short time after the injections were met with ineptitude and I was told it was just "nervousness" from the office visit. I insisted my cat was having a reaction to the vaccinations. Their office refused to consider this. I insisted on bringing my cat back into the office. Even so, Dr. Loken refused to accept the possibility of a vaccination reaction. He had no idea what to do. He gave my cat an injections and sent me home with him. My cat suffered horribly, seizured and died in my arms two hours later. Even afterwards he was dumfounded.UPDATE - May, 2013The veterinary board has cited Loken for "negligence, respondent failed to provide adquate therapy for a system post-vaccination reaction on 7/19/2011. Also for record keeping and failing to document "complete physical exam finding, complete drug dosages, surgical procedure description and a diagnosis/assessment in a 2010 medical record". He was issued a fine of $500.00.Additionally, Loken had a dog bleed to death after his attempt to inject a microchip. A proper microchip injection does not require placement anywhere near an artery.Please THINK before taking any of your animals to this vet. Read Less

Dr Lokey at Acton Vet is a  good substitute for Dr Ruppert at Uno Animal in Lancaster, if you have to use the vet on a Saturday. Reasonable and efficient. They did a nice rebandage job on my dog Sam, and I was very pleased. I am a fanatic that vets be reasonable in their charges and their ability to get an animal in quickly if needed. i was going to this place thinking it was a great place to take my pets which mean everything to me,and the doctors wife that works in the front office treated me with such disresepct.yelling at me for no reason because i was there to pick up a refill of meds for my dog and she told me i had to have the dog seen again for a recheck which was not true,the doctor approved the meds and drove all the way over there for her to tell me no.so then i made an appt to see the doctor to get this straight,then they cancelled my appt due to a little bad weather.my poor dog has an bad ear infection and needed to be seen right away.they were very rude,and there is alot more to this story.the young girls that work there are just wonderful and i feel sorry for them to have put up with their these two people.but jobs are very hard to come by right now,and they feel horrible about what i went though.i have brought 3 of my family members to them and told lots of people to go to him,and i deal with alot of animal lovers like myself.i've called everyone and told them not to give him their business! i'm very disappointed in this doctor and his wife ,which is worse.she even treated my mother horrible on the phone when she called just asked a question about her dog..........so please take ur business elsewhere......we dont have much of a slection of vets up here,in palmdae, and i really thought he was the one Read Less
