Both Doctors really care about animals and give you all of the options to consider.  After all, some people will do anything to help their pets and others want their pet as comfortable as possible without heroics.  Dear AnyaBeth; you were given the right info regarding shots. Your dog may have needed all of his vaccines, but only 2 were required to board him! Just like grooming, you are required to have just the rabies shot. On the tooth cleaning; I was given a quote for the most it could cost. As it turned out, it was less because once the dog is sedated they can assess their health better. Also, it is common to recommend the fecal at the time of the vaccines. Why would you want to make an extra trip or forget? DK Read Less

I am crying over what has happened to Agoura Westlake Animal Hospital.Dr. Martin and Rosenstein have been my vets for over 12 years.  They are both wonderful along with the office staff that has been with them for yearsBUTThe office has become a place where its all about the money.The office visit fees have gone up and I just simply cannot afford them anymore.I needed to get my new dogs baby teeth pulled and got a quote from them for $700 which of course I don't have the money to spend.  I called around and got in touch with Dr. Christopher Deem's office who quoted me $350.00 and informed me that half the things they were charging me for either didn't need to be done or were included in the price.  I took my dog into their office and it ended up being less expensive than what they quoted me.I called today to get information on what my older dog needed as far as shots.  She listed off 6 things one of which was a fecal exam.  Since when is a fecal exam part of the vaccination schedule?She also informed me that no vet can give shots without a current exam within the year.  With so many low cost vaccination places out there why would I spend $80 to get something done when I can spend $20?I was honest with her and informed her with a heavy heart that I won't be coming there anymore since I couldn't afford them.  She then got snotty with me.  Mind you I still hadn't gotten the information the minimum shots my older dog needed to go to the dog day camp next door.  After arguing with her that I am not going there she finally told me that my dog only needed 2 shots.I said thank you and hung up.Please note:  This is NOT a reflection on the vets themselves not the girls that worked with Dr. Martin and Rosenstein.  Dr. Martin is one of the most wonderful vets I have ever known.  I understand that the facility is top of the line and is expensive to keep up but as a 10+ year customer I feel completely let down at the fact that there is no personability there any more.  It's in and out like a factory.
